Trump Horror, Day 17: “Any Poll I Don’t Like Is Fake”

His mind is going
Politics • Views: 34,938

Credit: Gage Skidmore

Our ranting Narcissist in Chief took to the Twitters again this morning, and blurted out a series of tweets that reveal a mind in disarray, denying reality and attacking critics. It’s the same old spiel, but his tone is becoming increasingly unhinged as he realizes there’s someone on the inside leaking damaging news.

There you have it. Anything he doesn’t like must be “fake news.”

That’s a good one: “largely based on an accumulation of data!” The kind of “data” he gets from Alex Jones and Gateway Pundit. Or is he talking about the kind of “data” he got from those investigators he sent to Hawaii to look into President Obama’s birth certificate? Hey, whatever happened to those guys anyway?

But perhaps most revealing, because it’s such an obvious case of projection:

That confirms the New York Times story reporting that he signed an executive order appointing Stephen Bannon to the National Security Council without reading it is absolutely accurate.

Trump just named 9/11, Boston, Orlando and San Bernardino to justify his travel ban. None of those attackers were from countries in the ban.

Canned dog food? That had to be done at the factory. And who gets their hands on pentobarbital without a prescription? (It’s not just a euthanasia drug though - it’s used for a sedative, a hypnotic [anti-convulsant] and for emergency seizure control.

Jesus.

Evanger’s found out that dogs became sick on New Years’ Eve and began what would become a four-week investigation, which included sending samples from the lot to an independent lab “to test for any toxin or bacteria we could possibly imagine. All of those tests came back negative. It was not until January 29th that we learned about the term, ‘pentobarbital.’”

The company said pentobarbital is more of an issue in dry foods that get their ingredients from rendering plants, which Evanger’s doesn’t do.

In researching the supply chain, Evanger’s learned that “pentobarbital is very highly controlled, and that, if an animal is euthanized, it is done so by a veterinarian. Once this process has been done, there is absolutely no regulation that requires the certified vet to place any kind of marker on the animal indicating that it has been euthanized and guaranteeing that product from euthanized animals cannot enter the food chain.”

The soon to be joining the fleet Ford class aircraft carrier has more firepower than any other ship afloat - other than its predecessor Nimitz class carriers, which itself were unsurpassed in ability to deliver firepower to practically any spot on the planet.

Trump thinks total numbers tell the story? Try this one. A flight of four Hornets could take out a WWII carrier task force from over the horizon without the task force knowing what hit them until after the missiles started hitting. Same with the WWII era planes aloft. The first sign that they saw something wrong was when the planes started dropping out of the sky as the Hornets engaged from other the horizon and then closed with guns at supersonic speed. Fish in a barrel.

This kind of thing was the stuff of movies - a modern carrier could have changed course of history at Pearl Harbor.

They are saying it was from using a euthanized animal as an ingredient. At least that is how I read it.

Otherwise it is out and out sabotage.

Trump: We’re going to help the mines and the manufacturers. We’re going to bring the jobs back.

Reality: Mine owners and factory owners get a big benefit from the ability to pollute without consequences - more profits to them; workers get screwed. Miners living downwind or in the watershed are screwed because their water quality goes to shit. Not that it matters, because they’ll get black lung and die before the cancer from drinking polluted water catches up to them.

Not the first time phenobarbital has been found in dog food, usually in just trace amounts. How does it get in there? The only way I can think of is that they are including euthanized pet animal meat, likely sold to them by those who were charged with disposing of the animals properly but “got lost” on the way.

This is why I cook for my dogs. That and the fact that my precious Sheltie was poisoned to death by Chinese gluten that was “enhanced” by melamine.

I was at sea when The Final Countdown came out. When Hollywood released it, they also released it the same day to every ship in the Fleet that was at sea.

Kind of a cheesy film, but it presents the Grandfather Paradox in a different way. If you have a couple hours to kill then it is worth watching (they used vintage aircraft in dogfights with F-14s, along with quite a bit of historical footage).

The Navy was pushing that movie very hard - and gave the producers all kinds of support to get it done. It’s the direct predecessor to Top Gun in that respect.

The sci-fi aspect is interesting - namely what would you do if you’re presented with ability to change world history through your action (or inaction). If you’ve got the power, should you use it, knowing that you might rewrite the timeline (and yourself) completely out of it.

Forgive me for going off about the statement by Trump over the weekend, drawing a false equivalency between US soldiers and Russians. I come from a military family. I know how hard US soldiers tried to avoid civilian casualties.

I had to post a page about this. To draw a sharp comparison between what Russian soldiers do as a MATTER OF POLICY and what happens to US soldiers when they snap & act in ways that WE USED TO CONDEMN.

So here it is, couched in terms that those who still remember the origins of the Culture Wars back in the 60s might understand: If US Soldiers No Better Than Russians: Does This Mean Hippies Were Right to Spit on Them?

Khal Wimpo (wounded at Bowling Green)  Feb 6, 2017 • 12:20:20pm

Further:

This is sickening.

For decades, we held ourselves to higher standards. We had to engage in dirty wars during the Cold War, but we did it in ways that were not “squeamish,” but that were about trying to keep our souls.

To keep sight of the things that we were fighting FOR rather than focusing only on what we were fighting AGAINST.

But if we are just sick killers, just like the Russians … if we shrug at indiscriminately bombing civilians … burning children alive … torturing people we don’t like or just because we’re bored … raping women as a reward for the troops …

… well, all those years ago, when the hippies supposedly lined up at the airports to spit in the faces of US soldiers returning from Viet Nam, to call them “baby killer,” and to accuse them of being sadistic, murderous criminals …

Were the hippies right? Is Donald Trump right? Is this who we have always been?

Or is this who we are about to turn into?

Sorry if I’m going off here. I just can’t let this go by unremarked.

I enjoy those kind of time travel movies.

What could possibly go wrong?

Also:

Senate Bill 17, in the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection Committee, would allow students at Kentucky public schools and state universities to engage in religious or political activities, distribute religious or political material or express religious or political opinions, “free from discrimination or penalty.” Also, teachers in public schools would be allowed to use the Bible to teach about religion, its history and its role in the United States.

Senate Bill 17 is unconstitutional on its face. Students may engage in religious and political activites already. Teachers may use the Bible only to teach as literature.

The effect of this bill would be (for teachers) to erase other religions from state education.

I turned it on and I really like the backup code feature. I run this on my twitter. Having AT&T out tomorrow because our fax seems to interfere with our DSL some days. and makes me log back in a bunch of times, so hoping to fix that. So if you see me logging in a lot from the same ip that’s on my end.

295
Backwoods_Sleuth  Feb 6, 2017 • 3:08:35pm

President Trump made a whopper of a claim on Monday, suggesting that the media is deliberately ignoring terrorist attacks.

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported,” he said to military leaders at U.S. Central Command. “And in many cases the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons, and you understand that.”

The comments would seem to be a response to the hubbub over Kellyanne Conway having repeatedly cited a non-existent terror attack in Bowling Green, Ky., in recent days. But Trump doesn’t appear to have totally invented this theory on the fly.

Instead, the kernel of the idea appears to have come from — or at least been propagated by — one of his favorite news sources: the conspiracy theory website InfoWars.

As @UrbanAchievr noted after Trump’s comments, InfoWars has been barking up this tree for a while now. A sampling of its headlines:

“FAKE NEWS: MAINSTREAM MEDIA WHITEWASHES ISLAMIC TERROR IN BERLIN: Propagandists desperate to hide the obvious” — Dec. 20
“SCANDAL: MASS MEDIA COVERS UP TERRORISM TO PROTECT ISLAM” — July 29
“GERMANY COVERING UP TERROR PLOTS TO PROTECT MUSLIM MIGRANTS” — June 24
“MEDIA CAUGHT COVERING UP ISLAMIC TIES IN MUNICH ATTACK” — July 24
“VIDEO: TERROR IN GERMANY - THE TRUTH THEY HIDE: Mass media deception to conceal what’s really happening” — July 25

Former congressman Allen West (R-Fla.) has also pushed this idea, posting a video from InfoWars back in August under the headline, “TERROR ATTACK: Massive media cover-up.” And it’s a theme that has cropped up on other conspiracy theory and right-wing websites from time to time.

Diane Whipple. Those dogs were Presa Canarios (not sure if related)—I believe the dog owners had “adopted” some skinheads from Pelican Bay who were part of the dog ring. Factoid—Kimberly Guilfoyle was part of the prosecution team

I remember watching that whole trial in absolute horror.

Edit—slight correction (went back and checked) The loony lawyers/defendants were the caretakers of the dogs, which were actually owned by the skinhead at Pelican Bay—whom they “adopted.”

I thought the defendants were the biker skinheads that the attorneys (the man, not the one who got down on all fours) adopted.

Horror doesn’t cover it. The death was horrific and then some. The court actions by the attorneys were a further abomination.

Presa Canarios are another Mastiff variation breed.

“At a memorial run in 2015 in honor of slain teacher Vicki Soto, a 33-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y., man was arrested after police said he shoved a photo in the face of the victim’s younger sister, Jillian Soto, and demanded to know whether her sister really died.

Another man was convicted of stealing memorial signs erected in playgrounds to commemorate the dead children. He later called the children’s parents and said they shouldn’t mind because their children never existed.”

Holy SHIT. What the fuck is wrong with these people??

In an ideal world, none of Trump’s nominees would be confirmed by now or at all. I hope Democrats are planning an all nighter for Sessions who would be a nightmare AG.

Horror doesn’t cover it. The death was horrific and then some. The court actions by the attorneys were a further abomination.

The defendents Knoller and Noel were both attorneys—their “adopted” son (who was 38 when they adopted him) was the skinhead at Pelican Bay who wanted to run an attack-dog breeding company from prison—with their help.

Their (Knoller and Noel’s) attorney, the one who crawled around and was totally weird, was Nedra Ruiz.

The whole thing was a total shitshow.

Found this Newsweek article that goes through it pretty well. Basically, if Noel and Knoller would have kept their mouths shut and not decided to become teevee stars, the whole thing probably would have gone away.

How much of this did Noel and Knoller bring on themselves? Answer: just about all of it. “These are ace graduates of the Gary Condit school of public relations,”

They are YUUUGE. Somebody had one on the beach several years ago—off its leash—scared the living crap out of me.

Passwords can be up to 24 characters long.

Why so short?

1st rule of database fields — any size smaller than “short enough to prevent a denial of service attack” is too short.
