Daily Caller Editor Katie Frates Tweets About Her Desire to Murder Indigenous #NoDAPL Protesters

Murderous intent
WTF • Views: 103,141

So today, this happened. Daily Caller editor Katie Frates got so upset by the thought that indigenous Americans were protesting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, she tweeted:

I wonder how many #NativeNationsRise #NoDAPL protesters I could run over before I got arrested #getouttamyway

When she realized how bad this made her look, Frates deleted her tweet. But here’s a screenshot:

And the tweet is still viewable in Google’s cache as of this writing.

Every once in a while, a conservative lets something like this slip out, and reveals the hatred they normally try to keep hidden. She’ll probably try to say it was a “joke,” because this is the kind of “humor” that appeals to right wingers.

I will still never understand the impulse to run over protesters because you were inconvenienced on your commute. Like…’I’m going to be late for dinner, I’m going to murder these fuckers now because they ruined my night’. How do you fucking justify that (outside of dehumanizing the protesters so it’s no longer ‘murder’ in your mind, obviously).

And it’s only a matter of time before one of these people acts on these statements, or one of their followers/supporters does.

But this kind of rot starts at the top, and Trump signaled as much when he said “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters”.

His supporters are more depraved by the day. That’s the symptom of GOP moral and ethical rot.

It’s funny because it’s about injuring or killing someone who disagrees with you.

But that’s exactly the kind of successful right-wing humor that got Trump elected. Cruelty, spite, and unbridled hate for the other is exactly what has give the GOP so much fucking power, because this country fucking lives on hate and spite, and will do so forever, it seems.

It just goes to show how little people like Katie value life. They don’t believe that humans have any inherent dignity or worth just by virtue of being humans.

Essentially admitting that the complaints about ‘fake job numbers’ were simply naked politics and lying.

Then again, I wouldn’t put it past them to literally believe this, that the numbers have to be real because they’re Trump’s numbers, but Obama’s had to be fake because they were Obama’s.

It’s the same impulse that leads to road rage incidents - something about driving a car/truck makes some people feel like being cut off by other cars, or slowed down by cyclists, or stopped by a protest, is an egregious personal attack that merits lethal force.

I’m not sure it’s exactly the same thing, because this kind of mindset seems too calculated and too cold to simply be a rage trigger. It seems like a whole step above the kind of pathology that road rage comes out of.

Even the language is skewed, when “prevented from going where I wanted for a second or two” is expressed as “cut off.” That sounds as if there is actual physical harm being done.

I have been telling my sons this since they were 5 years old….

Child says mean or rude or otherwise unacceptable thing
Me: “Not acceptable. That was mean/rude/hurtful. Apologize.”
Child: “I was just joking.”
Me: “Was it funny to both of you?”
Child: “Well, no.”

You have a point. The other day I saw a comment on FB that horrified me, but which, sadly, didn’t surprise me. Someone was saying that he’d like to see literal open season declared on anyone crossing the border illegally, that citizens should be encouraged to just kill them, even have a contest to see who can ‘bag’ the most.

There’s a casual attitude toward violence against those who disagree, and honestly it’s very much a creature of the Right. A LOT of people on that side seem to think that use of deadly force is justified against those who would stand in their way. Makes it easy to understand how things like Nazi Germany happen - some percentage of the population WANTS it, while a larger percentage of the population doesn’t want to see what’s happening.

The weird thing about the comment was that it wasn’t on a thread even remotely related to immigration.

Apologize for being an ass.” “Fine, I apologize. But he did X first.” “Not my issue. You two work it out in a civil manner or I will make you share a room for the rest of the time you both live at home.”

“NOOOOOO!”

That tends to end the BS.

The Fox News guy is probably going to get fired for this, even if the ‘assault’ is totally fictitious. You’re not supposed to call fellow RWNJs Nazis and white supremacists, because the truth hurts their tender feelings.

Fox will bury the story (like they do with any story that doesn’t fit their overall narrative) and “reassign” him to an off-air position for a few months.

That’s a bean salad - red kidneys, wax beans, and green beans with chopped green onions and chopped celery in a honey vinaigrette: Rice vinegar, a shot of oil, dry mustard, garlic and onion powders, salt and pepper, a squeeze of honey. Pinch of cayenne is optional but encouraged.

Dreher has a sad because some people(including an author he used to like) are calling his bullshit out:

To be clear, I welcome honest, good-faith criticism*, because I benefit from it (e.g., Russell Arben Fox’s excellent critical review). This is not that. This is a case of a troubled man chewing on his sour grapes with his mouth wide open. Just wanted you readers to know the back story here. I still strongly recommend James K.A. Smith’s books, which on evidence of the dishonest bilge he’s been writing and saying publicly about the Benedict Option, are a thousand times better than James K.A. Smith’s character.

*Actually, Rod is very think skinned when his work is questioned, and he despises almost all criticism, and blocks anybody who is not part of the bobblehead following he has, both on his blog and on twitter. He has every right to do that, but he is full of shit when he says he welcomes criticism.

Politics is a morality play, and human nature being what it is, casting the opposition as villains is always going to be much easier than supporting the reputation of your side.

So it really is long past time for the Democrats to make a concerted effort to paint the Republicans as greedy sons of bitches willing to ruin everything to get tax cuts for their rich donors.

After all, it’s the simple truth.

Imagine this in a nationwide TV ad buy: A reenactment of that early scene from A Christmas Carol with Scrooge’s ‘are there no workhouses?’ line. After that, someone else comes to Scrooge’s office with a factual account of the effects of GOP legislation.

Two ways to play it after that setup —1) Scrooge smiles and approves of it as doing God’s work to make the unworthy suffer, or 2) It’s too mean-spirited even for Scrooge.

This is all perfectly consistent. Republicans are completely indifferent as to whether a statement really is true or false. All that matters is political utility. So everything said by Republicans is true by definition and everything said by Democrats is false, again by definition.

Interestingly, this fact allows people to claim that Trump doesn’t lie, because he either doesn’t know or doesn’t care that what he’s saying isn’t true, whereas a liar knows the truth and wants to convince you of the opposite.

In the end, bullshit is far more dangerous than simple lying because it is undoing the general agreement on reality itself.

The RWNJ political project depends on denial of reality. Creationism was their test case, and now it is applied across the board: climate change denial, popular vote totals denial, denial of what insurance is, denial of foreign policy realities, birtherism, voodoo economics, etc., etc.

The whole movement is psychotically delusional, and it’s all self-willed.

Another thing…those fundies that want the Rapture…I so hope they would get to watch all the people they hated and looked down on be the ones suddenly rising and going to the promised land…and in that moment they realize what is happening their horrible lives begin to be repeated in very very slow motion that goes on forfuckingever.

Probably already has. And he hasn’t made a move to even slow it down.

I suspect the first US red scare was anti-Semitic as hell, so I don’t think Trump will beat those numbers in just a few weeks.

Eclectic Cyborg  Mar 10, 2017 • 1:52:40pm

Assuming a rate of 1 or 2 a day and assuming Trump makes it to 2020, we could potentially see close to 3000 bomb threats against Jewish Centers nationwide in the next three and a bit years.

Though I fear the real numbers will be higher than even this.

It’s incredibly difficult for a party that has just had a two-term presidency to win the following presidential election. Since the 1950s the Republicans have done it once and the Democrats not at all.

Like it or not, there are a fair number of swing voter morons out there who will vote against the party seen as being in charge if their lives are not perfect in every way. Let’s hope Republican policies don’t kill off these people before they have a chance to swing back in 2018 and 2020.

People can agree or disagree about that but the fact of the matter is Clinton got more votes than Sanders did. I’m tired of the antidemocratic attitude that the Berniebros had. Yep, they love to talk about the hypothetical polls but the Republicans hadn’t done any attacks on Sanders and besides we don’t nominate based on hypothetical polls. The irony is the far left hates being told that electability should be a reason to nominate a candidate and here they were doing it with Bernie. Interesting. Huntington is Columbus based. One of the biggest employers here.

Also interesting Elvis Costello is having this issue. If you know his history he had a drunken, almost career-ending episode in a downtown Columbus Holiday Inn Hotel bar with Bonnie Bramlett and Steven Stills Band. He said some not too cool things about some legendary Black music artists and a brawl broke out. He got beat down by Bonnie.

I had a friend that was in the hotel lounge bar as he went to see the show and he witnessed the whole episode. He wanted to get Costello’s autograph.

Elvis learned a big lesson that night.

That’s a pretty big disclosure don’t you think?

The New York Observer (website: observer.com) is a conservative-leaning news website. The publication was purchased in 2006 by Jared Kushner, son-in-law and senior advisor to President Donald Trump, who upon assuming his current political position transferred ownership into a family trust through which his brother-in-law Joseph Meyer took over his former role as publisher. The website-based publication focuses on the city’s culture, real estate, media, politics and the entertainment and publishing industries. As of January 2016, the editorial team is led by Ken Kurson with other writers and editors including Rex Reed, Kara Bloomgarden-Smoke, Will Bredderman, Jillian Jorgensen, Drew Grant, James Jorden, Kim Velsey, and Matthew Kassel.[4]

I just finished reading “Lost and Found” by Amy Shojai (free Kindle download today)
The GSD pupper “Shadow” is in training as a service dog for an autistic child. Shadow is a wicked smart major character and we get to listen to what and how he thinks.
The rest of the novel is very dark, but the pup really saves the story.

SELL INSURANCE ACROSS STATE LINES!!!!1!!! is the biggest load of horseshit that Republicans are pushing. There is nothing that prohibits carriers from selling across state lines except CARRIERS DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT.

The thing is they don’t want to sell insurance to anybody who might need to use it. I know, because I went to the wonderful competitive private market for mine and got rejected by everybody.

Republicans are lying sacks of shit. Not news, I know, but true.

The latest thinking on the ‘Obamcare 0.5’ bill and its appallingly bad roll-out suggests that maybe the Republicans WANT to fail at passing it. The idea is that, as has been obvious to anyone with an IQ higher than room temp, there IS NO Conservative plan that covers more people, provides better coverage, and costs less*. Passing this bill would not only make that obvious, it would disproportionately impact the very people who put Trump in office.

Years ago, when I busted up my shoulder on the fender of a car, I was on Vicodin for a couple days. It made the pain go away, and provided what was at first a pleasant feeling of nonchalance. I knew it was time to stop taking it when I realized I honestly didn’t care about anything. That was scary.
