I suspect it will probably fall closer to “nothingburger” than “bombshell” on the scale, but I think Drumpf’s reaction will be worth it all.

When a member of Congress like Steve King makes openly racist comments and they say nothing, or say something mild like, “I don’t agree with him,” what is America to think about GOPers and racism? I say they support it because they aren’t responding strongly to someone who is a member of their party and a member of Congress. One doesn’t have to explicitly express racist sentiments to be a racist. For me, a part of being a racist is not objecting to racist things others say in your party’s/country’s name.

Steve King’s recent double or let’s call it a triple down about race war between Hispanics and African-Americans really pissed me off. As you know, my niece is Hispanic. Her Godfather is also African-American, my brother’s best friend. I am just sick of these racist assholes. It’s even more frustrating that a lot of them like King have real political power. King is the chair of an important Judiciary committee subcommittee I believe. Ryan “condemns” his comments but King’s not going anywhere.

So, by 2005 he had used up ALL of the $916 million carryover loss from 1995 AND all of the other losses during the same 10 years?

Sort of.

Trump’s 2005 return also shows that he’d continued to benefit from the roughly $916 million loss he reported in his 1995 return—published last year by The New York Times. Using a loophole Congress closed in 1996, Trump converted that loss into a tax credit for the same amount he could offset against income.

2005 was the year that Trump, a newly minted reality star, made his last big score as a real-life real estate developer, when he sold two properties, one on Manhattan’s west side and one in San Francisco, to Hong Kong investors, accounting for the lion’s share of his income that year.

I read that to mean the $150 million taxable income in 2005 was the remainder after the last of the 1995 credit was used up.

Just got a text from my pops: “You watching Maddow on MSNBC tonight?”

This, from the guy who I don’t talk politics with anymore because of his irrational hate of Hillary Clinton (he assures me he didn’t vote for Fuckface Von Clownstick, but that doesn’t make it better).

My text back: “Don’t need to, I have my sources.”

Pawn of the Oppressor  Mar 14, 2017 • 6:42:08pm

Maddow should offer Trump one million dollars cash to release all of his returns. That’s not a lot of money for Trump, but consider:

A. Most people consider a million dollars to be a noteworthy sum.
B. This offer would be news-worthy.
C. Any reasonable American, even a stupid one, would be interested in how somebody reacts to a million-dollar offer. We pay attention to these offers all the time, when they’re on reality game shows.
D. It would put Trump on the defensive just a little bit and he’d react personally.
E. When he inevitably doesn’t release them, it might make people wonder what he’s hiding. (optimism on my part)

I think the tax issue is only useful to the extent that it gets under Trump’s skin and causes him to do stupider stuff than usual. Swing voters didn’t care about it, and unless there is something truly remarkable in Trump’s taxes they will continue to not care.

That said, I’m all for anything that pisses off the Orange Menace.

It benefits Trump by proving he did pay taxes at least once this century. That’s the news, and it pretty well kills off the tax story for good.

Maddow got played, but good, and Trump gets to rage about an “illegal” leak.
