These people are big on being “chosen.” It’s why they think business owners and successful preachers should have a different standard of personal conduct from lesser folk. If you are a poor kid, you were not “chosen” to go to college, unless, of course, you are a star athlete. Otoh, a poor kid who is a National Merit Scholar was chosen by Satan and the New World Order, since he or she is all too likely to undermine the system of hereditary privilege that keeps hinterland America profitable.
I worked at a company that attempted to outsource programming to India to save the company (not just their bottom line, but the existence of the company). It didn’t work, because it was a small change in their costs. I worked at another company that had outsourced, and then decided it was cheaper to bring the employees here.
I do actually think these companies ought to be forced to pay all equivalent level employees the same amount wherever they come from (or whatever gender). I don’t think the way to solve the actual problem is to block H-1B. A better solution would be to fund public education. Then American employees wouldn’t actually have to cost as much. You either pay for it now, or you pay for it in the future.

We are waiting on a new hire we interviewed over a month ago for this exact reason.
I think I’m going to think of Spicer as “The Fog.”
Nothing he says is clear, everything is covered in a mist that makes definition of what is going on nearly impossible to see.

Those types of rules are set at the beginning of the legislative session, and they are set by majority rule. They could bring it back at the beginning of the next session, but, if Democrats get in charge, there’s nothing requiring that they keep it.

The Senate writes its own rules, per the Constitution. The filibuster only exists because of custom, and having written it into rules which can be changed. So, sure they could ‘bring it back’, but what would that mean?

When you upload an image, there’s a check box in the popup dialog after it’s uploaded that says “Meta Image.” Just check that box and you’ll see the image appear at the bottom right of the posting window. That’s also the image that appears when you tweet the link to your page, or post it to Facebook.

Well I just went on an embarrassing tweet rampage about Twitter making me follow POTUS & FLOTUS involuntarily. Turns out I probably was following the official accounts during Obama and when the halfwits moved in they took over the accounts…hence the follows. This is why I rarely post and am happy mostly to retweet others who don’t go off half-cocked like I apparently do.
I only do that in person, lately. I’m trying to figure out the ‘in person’ version of rarely posting. I think I’d have to keep the front door locked. That doesn’t work so well in retail.

In the original version of the latest right wing claim — that Susan Rice requested that multiple incoming Trump figures’ names be unmasked in intercepts — Mike Cernovich describes the genesis of Devin Nunes’ concern this way:
The White House Counsel’s office identified Rice as the person responsible for the unmasking after examining Rice’s document log requests. The reports Rice requested to see are kept under tightly-controlled conditions. Each person must log her name before being granted access to them.
Upon learning of Rice’s actions, H. R. McMaster dispatched his close aide Derek Harvey to Capitol Hill to brief Chairman Nunes.
But as Eli Lake — fresh off having apologized for letting Devin Nunes use him — tells the story, close Mike Flynn associate Ezra Cohen-Watnick discovered it and brought the discovery to the White House Counsel’s office, whereupon he was told to “end his own research” on unmasking.
The pattern of Rice’s requests was discovered in a National Security Council review of the government’s policy on “unmasking” the identities of individuals in the U.S. who are not targets of electronic eavesdropping, but whose communications are collected incidentally. Normally those names are redacted from summaries of monitored conversations and appear in reports as something like “U.S. Person One.”
The National Security Council’s senior director for intelligence, Ezra Cohen-Watnick, was conducting the review, according to two U.S. officials who spoke with Bloomberg View on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly. In February Cohen-Watnick discovered Rice’s multiple requests to unmask U.S. persons in intelligence reports that related to Trump transition activities. He brought this to the attention of the White House General Counsel’s office, who reviewed more of Rice’s requests and instructed him to end his own research into the unmasking policy.
This repeats a claim Lake had made in his earlier apology post, which he presented as one detail in the NYT version of this story that was not accurate.
Another U.S. official familiar with the affair told me that one of the sources named in the article, former Defense Intelligence officer Ezra Cohen-Watnick, did not play a role in getting information to Nunes. This official said Cohen-Watnick had come upon the reports while working on a review of recent Justice Department rules that made it easier for intelligence officials to share the identities of U.S. persons swept up in surveillance. He turned them over to White House lawyers.
But it adds the detail that Cohen-Watnick had been told to stand down. That would explain why Lake and others would want to claim that Cohen-Watnick wasn’t involved in dealing all this to Nunes: because he had already been told not to pursue it further. If the multiple accounts saying he was involved in the hand-off to Nunes, it appears he did.
The WaPo’s version of this included a detail not included by the right wingers: that Cohen-Watnick went to John Eisenberg, not Don McGahn, with his “discovery.” Eisenberg is significantly responsible, dating back to when he was at DOJ, for ensuring that ordinary Americans would be sucked up in surveillance under PRISM. For him to be concerned about the legal unmasking of Americans’ identities (to the extent that did exist — and the record is still unclear whether it did) is laughable.
The timing of Cohen-Watnick’s research — dating back to February — intersects in interesting ways with the timeline in this March 14 Politico story of H.R. McMaster’s attempt to sideline him, which was overruled by Steven Bannon.

Let’s face it, there’s no argument that many firms have used outsourcing firms to engage in global wage arbitrage and we saw that massive wage price-fixing lawsuit in Silicon Valley, and it’s a real problem-not to mention the fact that we got a real issue with a soon to retire cadre of mainframe programmers that no college/university even bothers to tech anymore; yet 9 out of every 10 commercial bank transaction, and nearly every airline and hotel reservation flows through a mainframe-and we’ got no one in the pipeline to to pick up when these people retire.
Anybody else thinks this isn’t a big problem?

ST. LOUIS • Three brand-new hires at a south St. Louis linen laundering company were filling out paperwork in the office Monday morning when a boiler launched by an explosion at a nearby factory crashed through the roof, killing two of them and critically injuring the third.
The initial explosion about 7:30 a.m. killed one person at Loy-Lange Box Co. at 222 Russell Boulevard and shot the boiler into the air. It flew about 500 feet before crashing into the offices at Faultless Healthcare Linens at Russell and South Broadway.
“You just can’t believe the size of this tank that landed in the office,” said Mark Spence, the chief operating officer of Faultless who confirmed it was two new employees that were killed. “It’s just enormous. It’s emotionally overwhelming just to think what these poor people experienced.”
A total of four people were injured at the two structures. At least two were in critical condition. One of them was a person trapped in the Faultless office underneath the boiler, a metal cylinder at least 10-12 feet long and 3-3.5 feet in diameter, according to St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson. It weighed a ton or more, the chief said.
The St. Louis Fire Department’s Collapse Rescue Task Force was able to free that victim from under the boiler, Jenkerson said. The boiler was still hot when he arrived about 15 minutes after the initial call.

Tuesday’s “Equal Pay Day” — which highlights the wage disparity between men and women — is the perfect time to draw more attention to the president’s action, activists say.
On March 27, Trump revoked the 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces order then-President Barack Obama put in place to ensure that companies with federal contracts comply with 14 labor and civil rights laws. MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Rescuers in Southern California have saved a dog that fell into a 30-foot well.
Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Brian Jordan tells news station KNBC-TV that a 13-year-old Welsh terrier named Lucy fell into the dirt well in the Santa Monica Mountains in Malibu on Sunday.
The department’s urban search-and-rescue team lowered a firefighter into the well to grab the dog, which wasn’t hurt in the fall.
Video posted by the department shows the firefighter and the dog being lifted out of the well by a rope. The department also shared a picture afterward of the healthy-looking dog.
Firefighters urge pet owners to keep their pets on a leash during hikes through the mountains.
