U.S. Launches Missiles at Syrian Base After Chemical Weapons Attack.

The United States launched dozens of cruise missiles Thursday night at a Syrian airfield in response to what it believes was the Syrian government’s use of banned chemical weapons blamed for having killed at least 100 people on Tuesday, U.S. military officials told NBC News.

Two U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired at least 50 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target — Ash Sha’irat in Homs province in western Syria, the officials said. That’s the airfield from which the United States believes the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fired the banned weapons.

There was no immediate word on casualties. U.S. officials told NBC News that people were not targeted and that aircraft and infrastructure at the site, including the runway, were hit.

Expect this airfield to be back in operation within days.

In 2013, Trump said Congressional approval was necessary for launching a bombing strike on Syria. Chalk this up to one more example of his sociopathic hypocrisy.

Unless Assad is dumb enough to use chemical weapons again, I doubt it goes any farther. If he does I bet the next step will be a similar strike trying to eliminate the other 6 airbases in Syria.

I can’t wait to hear Alex Jones’ excuse or reaction. Either way, it should be funny as shit to watch.

I wonder if this is the point where AJ turns on Drumpf. Remember, I said it all along: Jones will find some excuse, at some point, to distrust the new administration. It’s in his very essence as an anti-government conspiracy theorist.

Remember the horrible, haunting image of Syrian boy who drowned and washed ashore? This message is from his aunt, posted yesterday:

Since I saw the news yesterday, my heart is crying out for my suffering #Syrian people. The images of the innocent, dying children, the elderly people - they are our children, our grandparents, our fathers and mothers. It broke my heart watching those images. They’re too painful to watch. But we can’t look away anymore. They are calling us for help. It brings back the memory of my family a year and half ago. The image of my nephew #AlanKurdi woke up so many people to the crisis. I can’t believe it’s still happening. With no end in sight. Until when? Until there’s nothing left of our country? Where in earth can any human being do such evil things like this? Where is the humanity? It is unacceptable behaviour.

How much more painful images do we need to see, to move us to do something to stop this war? How much more dying innocent children we need to see before we take action?! Enough Is enough! people are suffering and they need our help. They are human beings, not pawns in a political game.

Please Stand Up people. Add your voices, and show your solidarity to #Syrian and call on your leaders to take action. The international community is failing the people of #Syria
But it’s time for action, NOT for blame.

We need to stop this horrible war, and it will take all the world’s leaders to do it, but it cannot be left to rage on any longer!

I’m calling on ALL OF THE SUPERPOWERS to PLEASE sit down at the table and take action to end the suffering of the people of #Syria #Iraq #Yemen, and everywhere. Today, US, Russia, Canada, EU states, Arab countries and all the Gulf countries can show their humanity and agree to find a political solution to end this horrible war. Military solution and violence will only lead to more harm, suffering and tragedy. Please bring peace to the world, and let the #Refugees have their lives back.

In The Memory Of The Kurdi Family With love and Peace To All

Well, my thoughts are running all over the place. I honestly cant disagree with sending a message to Assad and perhaps saving a few lives.

At the same time my cynical side says maybe this this was just a good political and geopolitical move for Trump. Betting this will improve his abysmal poll numbers. Also sends a message to NK, and other enemies that US has an unpredictable leader…so watch out. And…he went against Russia (even though he didn’t really) That will be the narrative anyway.

The hypocrisy from Trump and many republicans is fucking amazing. Wag the dog.

Gerald Ford did not hesitate to bring in a huge number of Vietnamese refugees who fled at the time of the collapse in 1975. In fact, he went to considerable effort to pick them up and I guarantee there was no vetting, extreme or otherwise, when our ships were fishing them out of the South China Sea .
Trump’s attitude would have been, “That mob could be infested with commie saboteurs! Let ‘em drown!”

That was Jerry Ford’s finest hour as President IMO. And I’m sure I have many Vietnamese-American friends that have his courage and kindness to thank for their being in our country.

People need to pull back from assuming that this is about conspiracy and knowing participants.

This is mostly about stupid, ego-involved people who don’t need to be compensated, or even recruited. They really believe they’re unappreciated heroes, and generate their own bullshit in accordance with their tangle of concepts, and nod along when fellow idiots say something similar. Russia doesn’t run these people in any meaningful sense, there’s no need to micromanage or handle them. The occasional RT interview or invite to a state event is sufficient to keep them primed.

This is not high-level espionage, it’s disinformation, so there’s no need to keep a central narrative or everyone on-point. Stupid people burring up the internet with wild stories and paranoia is all that’s needed. Stronger narrative control is exerted through other means, like troll armies and the state media.

One thing that turned me off was his ending where he asked God to bless the U.S. and the world. Bull Fricking Sh*t. If this tool thinks I’m falling for his alleged concern for anyone except himself and a few of his family members and friends, he’s looking at the wrong person. I’m not sure those two messages are that incompatible. Clearly Assad thought that Tillerson’s statement of last week gave him carte blanche. This strike, if it is a one-off, basically tells him he doesn’t have that much free rein, while not necessarily signalling regime change.

But honest to god, Tillerson’s on again/off again/on again statements… I could see him ‘exploring other opportunities’ or ‘taking time with his family’ real soon.

Not paying attention. You’re already in a ground war.

There are currently US troops hostages on the ground in Syria.
