Trump Returns From Europe, Immediately Goes on Rage-Tweeting Binge

There’s something seriously wrong with the man in the White House
Politics • Views: 45,817

Our so-called president couldn’t even wait one day after returning from Europe before going on a typically deranged tweeting spree, spewing conspiracy theories, praising violent people and accusing journalists of making up sources.

Interestingly, this blinkered buffoon calls the information coming out of the White House “leaks” at the same time as he says the press is just making it all up. The paranoia is affecting his cognitive processes, which were never very good to begin with.

And here’s possibly the most disgusting tirade, in which he praises Montana’s Greg Gianforte for winning his election — without mentioning that he physically assaulted a reporter for asking a question about health care.

Meanwhile, not a single word from this malevolent clown about the Trump-supporting white supremacist who murdered two men and seriously injured another in Portand, Oregon, when they tried to stop him from screaming and raving at two young Muslim women.

The two men who tried to stop a Trump loving bigot from attacking a Muslim girl died to preserve an American ideal. Trump absolutely ignored it.

And one of those men murdered was a US Army vet. He died giving his life to protect others.

And Trump fucking ignored his heroism and supreme sacrifice. On Memorial Day no less.

Or the recently commissioned black Army Lieutenant who was murdered by a neo-Nazi at University of Maryland a week ago.

But hey, Trump thinks being unpredictable is some kind of strategic genius, whether it’s America’s allies not being able to predict whether you’d help them if they were attacked, or America’s enemies not knowing whether you’ll spit or swallow.

The Trump tweets are smoke screens. He pre-built all kinds of excuses and just like a menu to a Chinese-America carry out you just need to reference the number and the followers get hungry and chow down on the hate.

I think leaks is number 6.

Number 1 is Democrats.

Number 2 is the media.

Number 3 is Islam…

As an aside, it’s instructive reading Tom Nichols’ take on what Dems need to do. Two things, apparently, are to abandon both Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi as leaders, because they’re the GOP’s ‘secret weapon’.

Now, what do these two have in common that is unique to them?

Partisan, but lots of people are partisan.

Outspoken, but a leader should be outspoken.

Strong personalities, but a leader should have a strong personality.

If only we could understand what it is about these two that makes such as Nichols think we need to replace them with someone else…..

35
Blind Frog Belly White  May 28, 2017 • 12:07:35pm

The other thing about Nichols? He believes that his party has been “hijacked by a populist - for now.” People who believe one stupid thing are likely to believe others.

A German pointed out to me that if Germany, the largest economy in Europe, were to spend a full 2% of its GDP on defense, it would then have the biggest military in Europe.

Is that the sort of things that is going to help or hinder security in Europe?

If they’ve diversified their wealth into foreign countries, a neutered US gov’t that lets them and their corps do whatever the hell they want here is very much in their interest.

Destroying America does no harm to the Kochs. Or the Mercers. Or Eric Prince. Or Goldman Sachs. Or any of his financial backers.

The Americans it hurts are either a) not Republican anyway, or b) dominionist whacks. They’re OK with it too.

Trump’s fine as long as he’s just rage-tweeting here at home…he’s just our bloviating asshole leader.

It’s when he goes to meet with other world leaders and it suddenly becomes un-ignorable just how unsuited he is to be President, how dangerous he is to the world as a whole, that the depression really begins to sink in.

I said before he left that I thought this would be his first and last trip abroad. Hopefully that thought is adopted by his (shitty) handlers. He needs to be kept at home, allowed to tweet, and congress needs to get by on Continuing Resolutions for four years.

HappyWarrior  May 28, 2017 • 12:22:34pm

Posted this on FB since I was tired of the whining about millenials and participation triophies.

Let me talk about participation trophies, the favorite symbol of the older generations criticism of mine. First off, I never begged for one. Secondly, you weren’t complaining about them as you gave them out to us, and finally youth sports isn’t just about winning. Never once in my years playing basketball or baseball did I win a championship but most of the time I had fun. The trophy isn’t for participation, it’s for remembering the fun you had playing with your friends so when you’re an increasingly old fart like me, you can remember good times like the Spring of 99 when you may not have won the championship but you pitched your heart out. So yeah rag on us if it makes you feel better but kindly shut up about how this generation is just awful, older generations said the same about yours. And you know what, there’s a lot of wonderful things about this generation. I’m not one to pat myself on the back but I’m proud that in general we are an inclusive bunch. Lemme add another thing but stop acting like winning is the only thing. We learn in defeat as much if not more in victory.

As we have seen, his ability to escape responsibility for anything he says and does is rubbing off on the whole party, and they are taking full advantage of that.

Oh wait, they’re not interested in helping us oust a wingnut Republican. They want to complain. They certainly wouldn’t do something like a) help or b) move here.

The overwhelming majority of Sanders supporters here (including me) went all-in with Hillary Clinton, because we were quite aware of the disaster Donald Trump would be.

We’re outnumbered though so our district went to Trump and Smith got to keep his job.

Now all the ranchers and farmers are complaining about Trump’s desire to abandon NAFTA and all we can do is say “we told you so.” But liberals, independents, and purity ponies get screwed by this, too.

The analogy might be strained, but you can also argue some military medals are a participation medal or ribbon.

I have three Sea Service ribbons, three Overseas Service ribbons, a Meritorious Unit Citation, a Department of Defense Service Medal (given during wartime), and a Battle “E” ribbon. Every one of those are for “being there,” not what job I did. I also have a Cold War certificate.

The only ones I earned through my actions are the Navy Good Conduct medal twice (a pretty low bar, just stay out of trouble), and the Navy Achievement Medal.

I know they gave a medal to anyone who served in the European theater in WWII. Military service is a bit different than youth sports but I do see your point. Honestly, I just hate the narrative older folks have about them and my generation and hte trophies. They act like we craved the trophies. I cared more about the team party at Fuddruckers than I did the trophy and I wasn’t alone.

Mr. w calls them ‘attaboys’. Is that a common term? His favorite includes the word ‘zeal’.

For the non-twitterers - look at the Republican support he has.

[Embedded content]

This is the kind of polling that will force the Republicans to make some damn moves.

I know many here at LGF think it is all a lost cause, the Republicans will never do anything to remove Trump.

This is still politics. Butt saving comes first. Ejecting Trump to save butt if needed will…be…done.

And the Republicans are too chicken-shit to stand up because it is still group think time, as in safety in numbers. When they see the whole group (party) could go down that will help hasten their “decisions.”

And when a few step out to clear themselves from Trump for political reasons the rest of the party lemmings will too.

I think butts are feeling it. And that tipping is point is fast coming. This ball is rolling way faster than Watergate and there seems to be more players involved and a lot more depth to the problems.

Still way early in the true investigation stages and getting out of the control of the Republicans. By the end of June this is all going to get really heated up.

You know, I can disagree with people but I find it hysterical that my wingnut friend who is former USMC is posting a photo of Trump in his military academy uniform and a photo of Obama as a college freshman wearing the old time hat with the caption “So nice to have a president we can be proud of.” I just feel like saying really, which of these guys called the military, the military that you served in by the way losers. And Trump never went to Vietnam either. I don’t want to pick a fight with the guy since politics aside he is a genuinely good dude but man he’s misguided af.

I wonder what he thinks of Trump saying he wished he could earn a Purple Heart and he and his state campaign manager Carl Paladino throwing Gold Star Families under the bus? How about STD’s being his personal Vietnam?

You try not to think about dying while you’re in the military (though that is part of the job description), but thinking your Commander-in-Chief or his associates are going to throw your family out the window for a political point is not something I would praise.

Yup. During my time in the Navy, letters of achievement or letters of commendation frequently use the phrase “faithfully and zealously carried out his/her duties in keeping with the highest traditions of the Naval service.” (I neglected to mention that I have a few of those letters as well.)

Brother, your neck of the woods is more backwards than either of the combat zones I’ve been in. I’m not personally interested in moving my family to a place where I have no employment prospects AND have the delight of neighbors nearby flying Confederate flags. Hard pass. I’ll go find somewhere purple and work to turn it blue.

Oh, I’m not asking everyone to move here. The choices I noted were a) help or b) move here.

Help can mean a whole bunch of things from phone banking to funding candidates to speaking engagements to you name it. Even just moral support is helpful. Giving tips on a blog is helpful.

I’m just pointing out the purity ponies would do none of those things, they just want to stand on the side and throw rocks and complain.

For what it’s worth, I haven’t seen any Confederate flags in a while - I’m guessing folk got a bit upset at that. They probably didn’t change their minds about it, but peer pressure can be a wonderful thing.

This is what keeps me optimistic. Included is my constant self reminder that we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. What we can see are results of people working their hearts out to stop this and quite a lot of good stuff is coming from it. No, it’s not as fast as we’d like but then I can argue that this isn’t a bad thing politically speaking. We shouldn’t be able to topple an elected administration quickly or easily.

OT, but I’m in the midst of the Great Frosting Event on the second of the Chocolate Espresso Fudge Cakes I’m making for next weekend’s anniversary party (the anniversary was a couple weeks ago, but this date worked better for the party.)

I baked the cake yesterday and have just finished doing the frosting between layers (buttercream/ganache/buttercream.) The cake then gets chilled in the freezer for an hour to solidify everything before the exterior gets frosted. This gives me time to do the dishes (this cake uses every bowl, sauce pan and double boiler in the house) and wipe down the counters, stove top, refrigerator door handle, microwave (I didn’t even use that, so who knows how it got chocolate on it,) my left elbow, and possibly things in rooms I haven’t been in. I have no idea why I can’t bake with chocolate neatly, but I can’t.

I’ll post a picture when it is finished. Then into the freezer it goes until the day before the party. Thank heavens these things freeze beautifully.

Blind Frog Belly White  May 28, 2017 • 2:17:57pm

I’ve been on vacation since Friday 19May, and yet this is the FIRST GODDAM DAY when I didn’t have something that needed doing.

First, we had to get ready for Hawaii Bro and SIL to arrive, which meant returning our nicely-finished garage to its ‘guest room’ state from its usual “No, really, I’m not a hoarder!” state.

Then I had to entertain, and remember not to interpret my ASD brother and his probably-on-the-spectrum wife’s actions as I would neurotypicals (e.g: both of them just get up and go get ready for bed. No “Well, I’m gonna turn in”, not even a “Good night”), so that I don’t think they’re offended or something.

Then, The Older Boy had THREE DAYS IN A ROW starting at 7 AM, meaning I had to get up early to take him to work, because…

Mrs. FBW has the Flu. Influenza B, according to Urgent Care, where I had to take her yesterday, and then keep checking up on her, getting her more Coke or Ginger Ale, get her medicine, urge her to eat at least something, worry about her cough, etc.

Today, HI Bro and SIL are back home, TOB is off work, and Mrs. FBW is feeling much better - actually able to sleep in bed, rather than sitting up on the couch. FINALLY, I have nothing to do!!!

So, that’s what I’m doing.

Nothing.

Ahhhhhh! About fuckin’ time.

I didn’t know what Williams Syndrome was.

From Wikipedia, parts bolded are mine:

Among the hallmark traits of individuals with Williams syndrome is an apparent lack of social inhibition. Dykens and Rosner (1999) found that 100% of those with Williams syndrome were kind-spirited, 90% sought the company of others, 87% empathize with others’ pain, 84% are caring, 83% are unselfish/forgiving, 75% never go unnoticed in a group, and 75% are happy when others do well.[37] Infants with Williams syndrome make normal and frequent eye contact, and young children with Williams will often approach and hug strangers. Individuals affected by Williams syndrome typically have high empathy, and are rarely observed displaying aggression. In regards to empathy, they show relative strength in reading people’s eyes to gauge intentions, emotions, and mental states.[38] The level of friendliness observed in people with Williams is often inappropriate for the social setting, however, and teens and adults with Williams syndrome often experience social isolation, frustration, and loneliness despite their clear desire to connect to other people.[35]

I think some good research should be done here. These folks have a genetic “developmental disorder” that results in them being nicer people?? That’s amazing and worthy of study.

That’s why I chose to put the white mouse emoji in my twitter profile, in honor of Nancy Wake, European theater Nazi killing MVP from 1940 to 1944. Not because I’m eager to kill anybody, but because in my mind Wake’s life exemplifies, yes rather extremely, where the pragmatic rubber meets the idealistic road.

Two men, one of them a veteran, died defending minorities on a Portland train from a violent alt-right white supremacist and our President has said nothing. Another young, newly commissioned Army officer was stabbed to death by another white supremacist, and our President has said nothing. Our government is being led by a cynical authoritarian who is actively incubating racist violence by his legion of white supremacist supporters.

Well, I am both idealistic and pragmatic.

I have lots of ideas I would like to see happen. I’m pragmatic enough to know many won’t and the others require work. 30% of a loaf is better than no loaf, and can work for the other 70%.

The Lincoln DSA is pragmatic when they need to be. They organised a phone banking session against Rep. Jeff Fontenberry (R-NE1) to try to call him out on his hypocrisy between what he said he would do in his town hall and his plan to vote for the Republican healthcare bill wealthcare bill. They insisted he keep his promise to retain the ACA.

Fontenberry is a suitable aparatchik and empty suit for the GOP: stick a card in his slot and he runs exactly the pattern programmed on it.

I’m sure the stigma that goes with the term ‘mental illness’ is tiny compared to the stigma of a finding of family-caused brain injury. Not saying this case is one, they might jump on the ‘mental illness’ stigma to avoid the other one.

Even if I had a Twitter account and tweeted at CNN I’m betting they would ignore me.

Not until the last Trump voter in the nation (and probably all those overseas too) is interviewed are they going to consider the bloody majority of us who voted for Hillary Clinton.

Here is the explanation of the symbolism.

Central to the shield is a gaudy skycraper, denoting (literally) his business empire and (metaphorically) his virility.

Either side of Trump Tower stands a stylised ‘golden’ woman. These are a dual reference to his involvement in the Miss Universe and Miss USA competitions - as well as his ex-wives Ivana Trump and Marla Maples, who were rumoured to be awarded $25million and $2million from their respective divorces.

A ‘chevronel’ made from two hair combs are used to denote The Donald’s famous ‘comb-over’ hairstyle, while the bottom of the crest refers to his dogged persistence last year in trying to force President Barack Obama to make public his birth certificate.

Like its position on the shield, Mr Trump’s critics say his leadership of the ‘birther’ movement was the lowest point of his political career.

Uhh, no, not even close.

The motto is a loose Latin translation of ‘You’re fired’ - his favourite phrase from The Apprentice.

They are consciously working toward a violent, utterly lawless and un-American showdown with the opposition. This is because their own propaganda has convinced them that they have an overwhelming advantage in the use of force and that violence alone will bring them the grifter theocracy they crave. It is an article of faith with them that they have all the guns, and that private firearms are an all-powerful solution to every conflict. Propaganda like American Sniper has convinced them that the military will take their side completely. They are likely right about most of law enforcement being with them but have no clue that the rest of it is a scam designed to appeal to the compensatory fantasies of the powerless and incompetent.

Does the original author know that there are almost no American drivers left in the IndyCar Indycar series anymore?

Made a slight change there. IndyCar was the trademark of the old CART PPG World Series. Indy never actually used the term Indy car, they were always Champ Cars or Big Cars.

When the Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) organization was formed and became the sanctioning body for all the races outside Indy, they brought big sponsorship to the series for the first time. PPG Paints was that big sponsor and their marketing department seized the idea of calling the series IndyCar with cap C and trademarked it.

Then warring and politics led to a split in the sanctioning bodies with the formation of the IRL (Indy Racing League -Hulman George Family, owners of IMS) to control the sport. When it was finally over with the buy out of Champcar (the remnants of CART who by court action could no longer use the term IndyCar in any form) the Indianapolis Motor Speedway took control of the rights to the name Indycar (now with a small c).

Just a little politics, racing style. And something I am quite familiar with being involved to a degree.

Maybe there’s actually a Trump supporter somewhere who isn’t a total piece of shit. But I have yet to encounter that person on Twitter. Without fail, the garbage they tweet at me is dim-witted, insulting, racist and just plain fucking stupid.

I believe that’s a little premature.

Maybe so, but if FOX is flailing about since it finds itself behind its competitors, I see nothing wrong with throwing them an anchor if we can.

re: #250 HappyWarrior

Especially because we have no idea what will happen the next time a Dem is elected President. Maybe it won’t be FNC but there will always be an outlet for right wing propaganda in this country.

Probably, but that would be nothing new in US politics; there have always been opposition outlets to whomever is in power.

If only Mississippi didn’t have such oppressive gun control laws:

cnn.com

(CNN) A sheriff’s deputy and seven other people were shot dead overnight in southern Mississippi, authorities said Sunday.

Authorities identified Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy William Durr, 36, as the slain officer according to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

The MBI said the shootings started around 11:30 p.m. at an address in Bogue Chitto, where the deputy and three females were found dead.
Another crime scene was found in Brookhaven, where the bodies of two boys were found. There also was a third crime scene, where a man and a woman were found dead. The identities of the other victims are pending notification of next of kin.

The Rich family really needs to find a good lawyer willing to make someone like Bill Mitchell or Sean Hannity or OAN put up or shut up in court. Do like that Sandy Hook parent did to the wingnut professor in Florida and sue one of these guys into oblivion for defamation of their own characters (never mind Seth Rich himself).

Maybe if Ted Cruz (or his father) had done that to Donald Trump we wouldn’t be dealing with Donald Trump now.

True, both are public figures, but such an egregious statement (Ted’s father was the “shooter on the grassy knoll”) deserved some kind of pushback from Cruz. Cruz could afford the suit.

Nevertheless, in the case of the Rich family, I would like to see some bright up-and-coming lawyer look at their harassment and say “yeah, we got this.”

True enough. I don’t mind hearing a conservative or libertarian give their own opinions or evidence for what they support or oppose. If I wanted a talking point PEZ dispenser I can go to the LP/Reason Magazine or GOP/FOX News Website.

As for “waxing rhapsodic” about weaponry and killing: Weapons are tools, and killing should never be glorified. I don’t care for that much, and of the combat veterans I know, none speak of their actual combats. (They may wax nostalgically about being in the military, but never about combat.)

During the run up to the Persian Gulf War, when I was a recruiter, the folk walking into my office saying they want to go over there and kill [insert slur] were the people I showed right out the door. That was not the sort of person I wanted in the Navy with me. (In point of fact, even in Navy recruiting school they pointed out that was probably not the sort of person you’d want to enlist.)

Please, please stop invoking the idea that Donald Trump is mentally ill. At most he has a personality disorder, but as I’ve argued in past, he’s “functional.” It’s not fucking up his life, and he has skillset that he’s able to wield against other people just fine.

Indeed, the biggest deficit Donald Trump has is empathy, and a lack of that isn’t “mental illness.”

Furthermore, none of the things he’s doing are “crazy.” They’re strategy…really basic domestic abuser DARVO plus con-man tactics to make marks feel like they’re in on something good (and thus smart and awesome). It’s not 12D chess or some genius superplan like some of his lickspittles think…but his bullshit syncs with the cultural norms of the US reactionary right—conspiracy logic, revanchism, anti-intellectual and anti-skeptical—and thus is really, really dangerous.

At the most extreme, though, this is what anti-social behavior is about.

Some time back I started to ponder about whether Trump is suffering from the onset of dementia. I still believe that.

He is also a bad man, a bad leader. He’s been that all his life. But because he’s such a good worker (in the carny sense), he’s gathered a large pool of marks that follow him.

Off-topic: Dayum, this has got to be one of the best comments I ever read here. It was in an old article here (you guys now have me reading the older stuff), from a glibertarian on “takers” and “non-producers” getting welfare stuff like phones and food “unconstitutionally”:

re: #37 carlaschluge

That’s because the so-called “underclass” will keep voting to take things (unconstitutionally I might add) from those who produce.

re: #60 sagehen

I’m going to take a response (from somebody I’ve never met, to another post on another topic on another blog), because this just seems the exact perfect place for such a quote:

I keep thinking of responding to this…and then I keep thinking, what the fucking fuck? Don’t I have better things to do, like think about greasy black marsh mud? In South Carolina where my dad lives, there are several types of mud in the saltwater marsh, one of which is a peculiarly oily blackish-gray, and not only fetid with decomposed marsh grass roots but brutally slippery, such that if you step on a patch without realizing it you are likely to fall right on your ass with your hand on a pile of oyster shells, which will give you long, shallow but jagged cuts. And the cuts get full of mud too! Damn but that smarts. I think I’ma just think about that for a while; it’s more restful than considering whether anyone, anywhere, might be this much of a godforsaken moron, even a libertarian.

I once made a recording over the Internet of a south Texas radio station. I then dubbed in (using Audacity for Windows) a one-time test run of the EBS system when they ran it up for a “national emergency” test. They never did that again but the recording is available on YouTube (and others have done this with television or radio as well).

Using the speech synthesizer in my computer I created a fake nuclear attack on various Texas cities (and the small town my brother-in-law lives in). I then sent it to my brother-in-law.

He plopped it on a flash drive and played it for his ex-Soviet wife … when the music got to the fake nuclear attack warning she was ready to dive out of the car to look for a deep hole. He laughed his head off, she was ready to kill him.

Well, the person who put it up is an actual news presenter for a television station, but I’m not sure why she’d do that if it were some sort of hoax - that sort of thing gets you fired.

Only red lights could mean it’s an ambulance (and the way lights reflect they might not reflect on the first floor windows).

It could also be some stupid prank played on the White House lawn (in which case the Secret Service would not be amused).

It could also be a prank played on the presenter, in which case refer to “out of job” if she didn’t confirm it.

re: #209 Anymouse

My offer is still open for CNN to interview a Hillary Clinton voter who lives in deep Trump country (and it didn’t get deeper than NE-3).

I’ve heard every angle from every Trump voter from those that are proud of their votes to those who are appalled by what’s going on or “I didn’t think he meant me on (pick a programme).”

Even if I had a Twitter account and tweeted at CNN I’m betting they would ignore me.

Not until the last Trump voter in the nation (and probably all those overseas too) is interviewed are they going to consider the bloody majority of us who voted for Hillary Clinton.

I’m glad we don’t have cable service in my town, CNN. You’re not much better than FOX without Gropy Rape McRacists.

Thank you! Why the media is so fascinated with Trump voters and only Trump voters is beyond me. There was never any similar fascination with Obama supporters.
