Thin-Skinned Would-Be Tyrant Lashes Out at James Comey Again While Vacationing at Private Golf Resort

Politics • Views: 35,219

While off on yet another weekend vacation at his private golf resort in New Jersey, our malevolent so-called president woke up early this morning, picked up his iPhone and started lashing out at James Comey on Twitter again, accusing him of routinely leaking information and calling him a coward.

Just to refresh our memories, what Trump is talking about here is not even remotely related to actual “leaking” of classified information. Comey testified to Congress that he told a friend to let reporters know that Trump had suggested in private conversations that Comey drop the investigation into adviser Michael Flynn’s dealings with Russia. Comey said he asked a friend to do this because he wanted to avoid having reporters “camp out” at his home.

The information he gave his friend was not classified, and Trump himself had already lied in public about those private conversations, which is why Comey wanted the information to get out — and because in his words: “I thought it might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”

As usual, Trump doesn’t seem to understand that his defensive and increasingly bizarre reactions to Comey’s testimony make him look guilty as hell.

I really do not understand this sentence in The Donny’s tweet.

I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible.

Is he hinting Comey has more damaging information that what is currently known, or the things he couldn’t say in the public hearing will be “leaked” by Comey?

Donny always seems to lead with his foot in his mouth or heavy on his phone tweeting. I wonder if he is hinting more is coming and he thinks he can cover it with his base by jumping on it as a leak and fake news prior to exposure.

Chicken!

One of my grudges against this asshole is that he is making my most-hated Predisent look good. Nixon got a big personal boost (as VP) from South Americans rioting in protest against his visit, and more specifically the aplomb with which he faced it. Hell, Nixon (maudlin drunk) wandered out of the White House to talk with protesters. He even invited Hunter Thompson up front in his plane to talk about football. Can you imagine … no, at least I can’t.

America Made Me a Feminist

It turned out most of America didn’t think of sex as a healthy habit or a bargaining tool. Instead, it was something secret. If I mentioned masturbation, ears went red. Orgasms? Men made smutty remarks, while women went silent. There was a fine line between the private and the shameful. A former gynecologist spoke of the weather when doing a pelvic exam, as if I were a Victorian maiden who’d rather not know where all my bits were.

In America, a woman’s body seemed to belong to everybody but herself. Her sexuality belonged to her husband, her opinion of herself belonged to her social circles, and her uterus belonged to the government. She was supposed to be a mother and a lover and a career woman (at a fraction of the pay) while remaining perpetually youthful and slim. In America, important men were desirable. Important women had to be desirable. That got to me.

We need more places like Centralia, Pennsylvania:

Centralia is a borough and near-ghost town in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. Its population has dwindled from more than 1,000 residents in 1980 to only 10 in 2010[5]—a result of the coal mine fire which has been burning beneath the borough since 1962. Centralia, which is part of the Bloomsburg-Berwick metropolitan area, is the least-populated municipality in Pennsylvania. It is completely surrounded by Conyngham Township.

All real estate in the borough was claimed under eminent domain in 1992 and therein condemned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Centralia’s ZIP code was discontinued by the Postal Service in 2002.[7] State and local officials reached an agreement with the seven remaining residents on October 29, 2013, allowing them to live out their lives there, after which the rights to their houses will be taken through eminent domain.[6]

Amen! Preach it! Dolores, especially, since there is no political rivalry there and her only asset is moral force. Of which she (still) has lots. I attended one of her recent birthday parties (they are public, fund-raising affairs) and she’s great. This was after the Bernie-bro shit fit but they still sold Bernie T-shirts in the lobby and she certainly wasn’t complaining. Inclusive radical, that’s my gal!

She’s an inspiration. If I’m that involved if I make it to her age, I’ve done right.

I think there’s going to be a catagory of ‘Second Worst President’ after Trump is vacated from office. There’s never going to be any doubt that he’s the worst, but there will be arguments about who’s next in line.

I don’t blame Trump himself for this suicidally horrible situation presently infecting our White House. Trump himself is a psychopath not in control of his mental faculties. His evil character developed over a lifetime of wealth and entitlement driven sociopathilogial desires and actions with absolutely no corrective action by his parents, lawyers, or business contacts. The man was groomed from birth to be the most horrible person he could possibly be.

I do however blame the voters of this country who chose to selfishly exert their own overwhelming sense of specifically white entitlement on the nation and by national power default, upon the world. If 35% of this country’s population were truly honest they would recognize and acknowledge the fact that their ideology has nothing to do with any sort of traditional notion of Christianity and everything to do with claiming as much power as possible in a zero-sum game war against the entire world. If they can’t have their white entitlement they choose to burn down the entire house, and Trump is their man. I blame them and their evilness. I also blame the other 25% or so who sit on the fence and play the “both sides do it” game when every fact and shred of evidence shows this is beyond false. It is pure intellectual laziness and this country is suffering from their laziness.

“I really do not understand this sentence in The Donny’s tweet.’

I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible.

My Trump to normal English translation best guess:
His use of “prevalent” doesn’t make sense. [Prevalent definition, widespread; of wide extent or occurrence; in general use or acceptance.] Maybe he meant to say “relevant” which still doesn’t make a lot of sense or is at least vague and confusing. Relevant in the sense of “More important”. In other words, he means to say the real scandal will be “Comey IS A BIG LEAKER TRAITOR POOPYHEAD”. That’s just my guess, or maybe Trump is just insane.

The Tea Party was seen as likely to disrupt the GOP’s attempt to secure a majority. But they didn’t, because as rancorous as the primaries may have been, come November they went out and voted for the Republican for every position. They didn’t stay home and bitch.

That’s probably the only positive thing I can say about the Tea Party. We mocked their purity wars, but in the General, they went out and voted Republican, even if they thought the nominee was an establishment sell out.

I wouldn’t mind the BernieBros bitching about the Democratic Party Establishment, if they could be trusted to vote for WHOEVER wins the primary. But history does not give me comfort.

Today was the Puerto Rican statehood referendum. To no one’s surprised, the statehood won by an overwhelming majority. The pro-statehood party should be ashamed of the final vote count. It looks like the final vote count will be smaller than all the votes received by the second place candidate for governorship.

I like (don’t like) how they frame it as between “liberals” and “pragmatists.” I consider myself a liberal AND a pragmatist.

…earned some of his loudest cheers for attacking the party whose nomination he sought last year.

…Outside Atlanta on Friday, Jon Ossoff offered a decidedly un-Sanders-like vision of the future in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District

I REALLY want Ossoff to win—and particularly to shut the after-Berners up for awhile (as if…)

And, of course, Nina Turner has to run her mouth:

Nina Turner, a former Ohio state senator who is on the board of Mr. Sanders’s political organization, suggested in Chicago that Democrats risked slumbering through the revolution, offering an unofficial slogan for the party: “Hashtag, ‘Not Woke Yet.’”

Oh—and this will grind your gears, HappyWarrior—they’re going to credit Sanders if Periello wins:

The biggest test so far of Mr. Sanders’s clout may come on Tuesday in Virginia, where he has backed Tom Perriello, a liberal former congressman, in a contested primary for governor.

The fact is Sanders has a very exclusive vision for the party where if you don’t think every banker is a crook, you’re a neoliberal establishment hack even if you were three when Bernie got in office like Jon Ossoff.

Jesus, Bernie can just shut the fuck up. When he was in the House, my evil too big to fail employer was treating LGBT people with equality. My employer said, “See ya, don’t let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya” when Focus on the Family decided in the mid-00s it couldn’t possibly have its money in a bank that gave money to LGBT-oriented non-profits. Three times at work in the last 15 years I got unexpected raises because our Human Resources went through and made sure women and minorities were being paid the same as white men in the groups I worked in.** I could, if I wanted to, pull out my laptop right now and change my sex on my profile. (I see no reason to do so.)

So, as evil as banks can be, and yes, the 2008 meltdown was very, very bad and damaged a lot of people (I’m STILL underwater on my house), big financial institutions, along with other big businesses have pushed forward civil rights for sexual minorities in many ways. Probably more than Sen. Bernie Sanders has ever done.

**By the way, that’s how I know when Google told a court it can’t provide the information about its workforce that it’s complete and utter bollocks. They have that information, they just don’t want to share it because it’s damning and damnable.

“Now what would Trump do if in this situation?”

We know Melania would be the last thing on his mind, and that at a public event, he’d most likely be 10 or more feet in front of her. Hell, he has a young son that it appears he ignores because he’d rather play golf on the weekends than spend a few hours visiting with him. My dad worked a lot, but he always found the time on the weekends and his other days off to spent with us kids. We knew we were important to him because he showed us. He and my mom also took us on a two week vacation every year. I’ll always remember the series of Country Squire station wagons my parents owned in which we took those memorable vacations.

Today was the Puerto Rican statehood referendum. To no one’s surprised, the statehood won by an overwhelming majority. The pro-statehood party should be ashamed of the final vote count. It looks like the final vote count will be smaller than all the votes received by the second place candidate for governorship.

I expect this results to be laughed at in Congress.

It will be interesting to see what happens if the Democrats push this point. Either Trump made the tapes, or, as you point out and is far more likely, he didn’t.

At some point, if they make enough noise about the tapes and demand their release - and then Trump goes out to say “Nyah nyah - psych! Never made them!” … what will happen is the cable news media will have been primed up for a Big Story With Audio … and they will be quite disappointed when that doesn’t come to pass. So the story then will be “Maybe there really were tapes … but they were incriminating … so Trump destroyed them.”

Lots of fun for the tinfoil-hat types for years over that one.

Big surprise, undoing another thing the black guy did.

Here, from some Trumperhoids, is the reason:

Some Trump supporters argue however that President Raul Castro has failed to improve human rights or expand political freedoms and does not deserve better relations with the U.S.

Seriously. The administration that’s going at warp speed to remove/eliminate human rights in this country thinks Cuba hasn’t done enough.

I would pay to see Trump attempt to do an “It depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is” deposition.

People never got how meta to the level of the questioner’s intelligence level that question really was. IOW, The Yellow Yam is too stupid to even imagine, much less ask, that question. No, I expect if he does actually go there he’ll pretend to Reagan’s “I don’t remember” because that excuse is the only thing he _can_ remember.

“No, I expect if he does actually go there he’ll pretend to Reagan’s “I don’t remember” because that excuse is the only thing he _can_ remember.”

This is a very accurate assessment of Trump’s ability to remember anything. This is the guy who took to Twitter to announce his support for Saudi Arabia ending its diplomatic ties to Qatar. A few days later, he called Qatar’s emir and offered to “mediate” the conflict between Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other nations in the region that decided to break diplomatic ties with the nation. A couple days later, he was back to bashing Qatar and saying it is a major source of funding and support for terrorists. He’s all over the map on every subject, and I think it’s because he actually doesn’t remember the things he says from one day to the next. This means he also lied his *ss off last year when he claimed “I’m smart, very smart.”

The other side boycotted the election.

The boycott ran deeper than that. In the November’s elections, the pro-statehood party got over 650k votes, for a ~40%. In the previous referendum, statehood got over 800k votes. That’s a big drop in both total participation and votes obtained.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve fractured your wrist, and I hope you’ll be successful in coping with the pain until your visit to the orthopedist tomorrow. I have a blood condition that means I must be careful to not suffer a serious cut to any part of my body. Well, I was cooking some pasta the other night and decided to use a knife to cut open a package of Parmesan cheese. Big mistake. I ended up with a rather bad cut on my index finger on my left hand. It bled and bled and bled, but I finally got the bleeding stopped by exerting aggressive pressure to the wound. Before that, I was thinking of heading to the emergency room, which is exactly what I would have had to do had I been unsuccessful in stopping the bleeding. Take care of yourself and let us know a bit about what the orthopedist says about the fracture.

Stonekettle arguing with a republican who thinks we just can’t afford to take care of sick people.

Not digging through the thread, but how do all of those poorer countries do such a good job of taking care of everyone?

Got 15lbs of apricots from a friend who grows them…didn’t want them to go bad so I jammed the fuck out of them today…now have 15 jars of jam cooling on the counter. Went rustic…only a couple of pulses with the immersion blender so there are lots of big pieces of fruit.

Also, first time jamming without pectin if you can believe that… I’ve always believed it was necessary.

Any for sale? I mean exclusively to me?!!!!! Apricot jam is my favorite.

I think that most of the MAGA crew are unaware of the extent to which their view that America isn’t great anymore is rooted in America not being as white anymore. This is why they say really racist shit without realizing how racist it is, like ‘Blacks are trapped on the Democratic plantation’.

Trump considers reversing historic Obama-era opening with Cuba

Big surprise, undoing another thing the black guy did.

Here, from some Trumperhoids, is the reason:

Seriously. The administration that’s going at warp speed to remove/eliminate human rights in this country thinks Cuba hasn’t done enough.

Just shoot me now. I don’t know how much more of this bullshit I can take.

Saudi Arabia’s treatment of women, gays, political activists, non-believers, etc., gets a pass from the Trump regime but somehow Cuba deserves to be ostracized. Plus, Communist China gets favored nation status. Wth?

Yep as much as I dislike the Castro regime, there’s always been double standards in how we deal with it.

You know, I really hate counterfactuals, but in this case we already know the Republicans blasted the Democrats for years for ‘ramming Obamacare down our throats’ by laboriously crafting it in a largely public process over most of a year. Ignoring actual facts, they cling to Pelosi’s poorly expressed ‘have to pass it to see what’s in it’ as evidence that it was passed before anyone had a chance to read it.

So now, the House rams this bill through before the CBO score can come out, and now the Senate is planning to ram their version through without hearings or debate.

We already know how they responded to the Democrats following normal order. Imagine how they’d respond if we’d done THIS!

But more to the point, this is not how you pass legislation if you have any respect for democracy or the electorate. This is what you do if you only care about power, and it’s shameful and dangerous.

It’s a pretty poster, but it’s not true… Brutus et al. were the ones who wanted to take things back — Augustus extended and consolidated what JC started. (And Brutus et al were probably the good guys, since they wanted to preserve the republic, it’s just that they were too late.)

(Radically compressing a couple of centuries of history, and sticking my toe into waters that have been troubled over and over for centuries.)

I happen to agree with you on the subject of 2017. So far, it has been nothing but a pain in the ass.

And we still have another six months to go. :-/
