Donald Trump Silent on Terror Attack Against London Muslims

His silence speaks volumes
World • Views: 47,852

We all know that Donald Trump is recklessly quick to try to capitalize politically on terror attacks by Islamic extremists anywhere in the world.

Yet, for some odd reason, he also consistently fails to even mention it when right wing extremists commit acts of terror and mass murder — like yesterday’s van attack on a London mosque.

A man has died and eight others have been injured after a van ploughed into a group of people near a north London mosque in an attack police are treating as terrorism.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Two people hit by the van were said to be “very seriously injured”.

[…]

Witnesses said the driver then got out of the van and shouted “I want to kill Muslims” before onlookers pinned him to the ground.

[…]

Abdulrahman said the driver shouted “kill me” as he held his head on the ground.

“I said, ‘Tell me why did you try driving to kill innocent people?’ When he went into the [police] van he made gestures, he was laughing. He deliberately did this. He caused this incident.”

Nothing about the seamen lost on the Fitzgerald yet, either.

Remember how everything like this was a top priority when Obama was president, and if he was the tiniest bit slow everybody would lose their shit on the Right?

I ‘member.

Trump isn’t going to touch any story that doesn’t feed his hate and the hate of his voting base. What does he gain regarding this British attack?

Edit…oops…got my Trump not mentioning cases mixed up. Gotta concentrate on work.

If it doesn’t benefit him directly, he could give a damn. There are more than a few of his base who think this isn’t a tragedy at all. He knows it, his staff does too. It doesn’t matter if she was just a kid. Or American. She was Muslim, so all bets are off.

Donald Trump Silent on Terror Attack Against London Muslims

I don’t mean to diminish the horror perpetrated on Muslim citizens of London, but Mr. Trump has yet to address the deaths of seven seaman of the US Navy.

If he is so disconnected from the world he doesn’t even address our own military personnel (remember that the GOP is supposedly, despite all evidence, the party of the troops), why would he give a hoot about Muslims in England?

The overwhelming majority of his staff would like to see Muslims removed from the earth; if any statement (someday) comes out, it will be some Milquetoast statement against violence.

Isn’t the consensus that the only reason she did a “good” job is because after the firestorm of protests, NBC so edited the interview that it bore little resemblance to the original planned segment?

The fact that a program has low ratings does not attest to the quality nor significance nor honesty of the program.

Isn’t one of the issues now that the Panama Canal can’t accommodate some of the larger shipping vessels? Also, I’m just going to go out on a limb and guess that Trump’s approach (for lack of a better word) to foreign policy is just word association.

“Sir, we have a meeting with the president of Panama.”
“That’s the one with the canal, right?”
“Um, yes, sir.”
“Good, got it, ok, what’s next?”
“Sir, there’s 20 things on the list of issues to discuss with Panama.”
“Yeah, they’ve got the canal, we built it, right? Good, yeah, what’s next? Oh, wait, do we have any hotels there?”

Are you sure that before today he knew there was a canal and that we built it? Sounds like a statement that someone briefed him on a few minutes before his meeting.

Panama just spent billions building a 3d set of canal locks at Miraflores and Gatun to accommodate the new-Panamax standard. These new ships have been operating thru the canal since last June and can carry nearly 3 times the cargo containers as the prior standard.

Seaports on the East Coast have upgraded facilities to handle the new ships. NYC has dredged the harbor, raised the Bayonne Bridge, and bought new cranes to handle the larger ships. Similar stories in Baltimore, Charleston, and Miami.

Trump thinks we’re stuck with the 100 year old canal.

My US flag (which I normally put out only for Federal holidays or presidential proclamations) will fly every day from my house now until the President or the Republican Party bothers to acknowledge the loss of seven seamen in the collision of the MV ACX Crystal and USS Fitzgerald. The incident was Friday (US time) and as of yet, there is no acknowledgement of the loss of seven military lives by the GOP.

I am not hopeful: No Republican representative nor senator (including those of Nebraska), nor the President has made a statement about the incident; only Democrats have.

As history has shown my entire life, the GOP only cares about the military when they can use it as a patriotic backdrop in political campaigns. They do not care about the lives or care of military personnel - which is why Ronald Reagan tried to prevent military personnel from applying for food stamps. (That might explain why the majority of active duty personnel voted for Hillary Clinton in the last election.)

The Democratic Party (through its official organisation Democrats Abroad) released a statement.

Sure you can. Buy the device called TV-B-Gone. It is a key fob that has a single button on it as a TV remote. All it does is cycle through all the possible “off” codes for every television set.

I found that investment quite soothing. If the owners turn the TV back on, just use the key fob again to turn it off. They will eventually give up, figuring there is something wrong with their TV.

But it’s clear that he can get away with this because the entire GOP is complicit. Some certainly believe in trade, but not enough to try to push back against this ignoramus. They want a totally deregulated economy and don’t care how many lives are ruined by their policies. Commonize costs and privatize profits.

They don’t need arcane rules. There’s a vote-a-rama procedure that they could invoke should the GOP try to get this through on a 50 vote basis (rather than the regular order of business that would require 60 votes to address tax measures that aren’t balanced after 10 year period). GOP also trying to play games with that rule too, to avoid having to balance the budget.

So fiscally responsible that they’ll wreak havoc all over the place to get their sweet tax cuts for millionaires.

Vote-a-rama lets anyone introduce amendments to the bill, each of which must be voted upon.

The feelings are all mixed.

I was crossing a street when somebody honked from a parked car. I ignored it, as I usually do (it better be a goddamned emergency when you honk at a woman or girl) until there was more honking. It was an old customer, who wanted to tell me he’s leaving ‘Right now!’ to move a 7 hour drive away from here (same state, though). He gave me some good stuff when he was cleaning out the garage, so I was nice about it, and the fact that he’s leaving, so who can get mad, but he could have just hollered out his window, as he did after the honking.

Paging freetoken…are we all whistling past the graveyard that’s much closer than we thought? o_O

Will humans be extinct by 2026?

What makes the situation so dangerous is that huge eruptions from the seafloor of the Arctic Ocean can happen at any time. We can just count ourselves lucky that it hasn’t happened as yet. As temperatures continue to rise, the risk that this will happen keeps growing.

As a result, huge amounts of methane can erupt from the seafloor of the Arctic Ocean and once this occurs, it will further raise temperatures, especially over the Arctic, thus acting as another self-reinforcing feedback loop that again makes the situation even worse in the Arctic, with higher temperatures causing even further methane releases, in a vicious cycle leading to runaway global warming.

These developments can take place at such a speed that adaptation will be futile. More extreme weather events can hit the same area with a succession of droughts, cold snaps, floods, heat waves and wildfires that follow each other up rapidly. Within just one decade, the combined impact of extreme weather, falls in soil quality and air quality, habitat loss and shortages of food, water, shelter and just about all the basic things needed to sustain life can threaten most, if not all life on Earth with extinction.

A US F-18 shot down a Syrian SU-22, and the Russians have countered that they’ll consider any US or allied plane a target West of the Euphrates River. That pretty much makes the western 2/3 of Syria off limits to US aircraft - or at least puts US aircraft in further harm’s way and potentially engaging with Russian aircraft.

Trump’s incompetence will continue screwing over the US all while Putin exercises his will all over the map.

Shit…I guess I should have said moderate. I forgot Centrist is considered a slur. People are way too label sensitive. The Democratic party isn’t just Socialists on one side and Centrists on the other…there’s a raft of leanings between the two poles of the left hemisphere.

My point is you have clearly identified the Georgia 6th District as very red. Why wouldn’t a centrist/moderate be the better chance than a far lefty as Sanders would prefer?

By the way, I don’t see “centrist” as a slur. But I do think that is the manner you used it.

re: #153 Hecuba’s daughter

However did I escape being targeted for contributions for Parnell?

I’m not sure—he’s run a very polite campaign. Seriously, his emails are optimistic, informative and fun. (As are his commercials. His House of Cards ad got tons of national press, but his campaign, not so much)

Kinda sad that he’s been totally overlooked.

(If you’d like to send him some last minute money… ; )

It wasn’t, but I’m glad we agree it’s not a bad term. People will always criticize centrists as ‘Republican-lite’ - but I don’t think that’s accurate either.

A centrist today is way to the left of Republicans: The GOP is so uniformly right wing that a centrist would not fit in their party at all; a centrist might fit comfortably in the “middle” of the old pre-Nixon GOP

Attention Twitter people. I need help. Certain DMs of mine are failing and I do not know why.

Twitters online help is all but useless so I was hoping one of you could help. I keep getting the red message did not send error.

Twitter is massively overloaded right now & they don’t seem to know how to fix it. I’ve more time with my TL down than up right now.

Really sad what happened to Otto Wambier. He and his family have suffered greatly.
Evidently he had lost so much brain tissue he was brain dead already. WTH did they do to him? Horrible to even think about.

Here is what I don’t understand…why would anyone want to go to North Korea?
I just don’t get it. I hope, at least, the next person thinking of touring NK will think long and hard about it.

Yes, apparently America has only two choices, give in to all Putin’s demands or commit to total war in Syria.

A centrist today is way to the left of Republicans: The GOP is so uniformly right wing that a centrist would not fit in their party at all; a centrist might fit comfortably in the “middle” of the old pre-Nixon GOP

Republicans have been successfully moving the center further to the right since George W. Bush’s first term…and if you look back at Reagan and the Xian Coalition, seeds of this migration can be found there.

Bush was very successful at moving the center to the right because he had two wars and a fear of being called anti-patriotic helping him with the shuffle. Look at how gentle the Democratic party was with him in the first years of Iraq.

Under Obama, it was always a matter of compromise with the Republican majority - fucking Sequestration was a ‘centrist’ compromise.

So I don’t think it’s as ‘way left’ as you think it is. That’s not to say it can’t be pulled to the left…having Trump in power is making that possible as Republicans fleeing him need to come meet Democrats closer to the ‘center’ and not expect Democrats to come to them to rescue them.

re: #163 Hecuba’s daughter

At these point, isn’t it way too late?

Well, they’re still asking for money (surprise, surprise)! But here’s his latest email—as I said—positive and informative.

Democrat Archie Parnell has made up ground over the past two months in the race to replace Mick Mulvaney in South Carolina’s 5th Congressional District.

He can win and here’s the key findings from the recent poll that backs that:

The Republican’s edge has been cut significantly. Since polling conducted in March, Parnell has cut the gap by 6 points. Parnell’s momentum is growing while his opponent is stagnating. If we turn out our voters tomorrow he could easily win.

Importantly, Parnell voters are much more likely to feel this election is “important” than are Norman voters. Our voters are ready to turnout, they just need to know where to go. We need to up our GOTV efforts over the next 36 hours to make sure we spread voting info far and wide.

When voters learned about Archie and his opponent, the race is effectively tied. If Archie expands his reach, this race will be ONE WE CAN WIN!
Voters oppose the Republican health care bill in Washington, which Archie opposes and his Republican opponent supports.

This is the result of your hard work, our tireless volunteers, and our online donors who’ve had our back. Let’s keep going and make history.

re: #160 ObserverArt

I live next to this district. It is really red and if a Bernie Sander’s style liberal/socialist/democrat tried to run there a) it would be next to impossible to get any funds from the state or national level Democrat organizations and b)they would get hammered hard. And that’s IF they would even be able to run in the first place.

You’d be surprised at how often Republicans run for office here unopposed. Or, if a Democrat does run, you barely see or hear about them. Barry Loudermilk (R-Notsobright) is my Congressional Representative. His “challenger” was someone no one heard of and I think I saw 2 commercials and that was it. There have been plenty of local level offices filled with no challengers to the GOP candidates in the 20 years I’ve lived here. Sadly, the damned damage from years of liberals=scum of the earth rhetoric have made things just stupid difficult.

Same here in Kentucky.

99% of the time in the past few years, the Dem candidate is a huge loser who has no intention (or even any idea of how to) campaign.
99 times out of a 100, the Dem’s candidate filing fee was paid for by rat fuckers.
