Or maybe they get fed up with their Trump supporting friends who do nothing but post their bullshit on Facebook. I ahd to stop following my one friend on FB because he posted nothing but right wing bullshit all day.

Yep, I’m tired of being condescended to because I don’t want to hear Trump supporters bullshit. What was it that woman’s shirt said “Fuck your feelings.” Yeah Trumpers, the feeling is fucking mutual. Maybe you should stop complaining about a past that never was.

Some of us have learned the hard way that most Trump supporters are hateful, irrational people.

Just because they couldn’t conduct a civil online argument, decided to dramatically flounce from the discussion site, and then spent years lurking and stalking?

One thing is for sure, I don’t want them crying to me about how they were conned and no one warned them. We tried telling them and they didn’t care. I don’t want them to suffer but I have little sympathy for htem.

tr*mp voters who supposedly have regrets about tr*mp will need to significantly change what passes for thought in their tiny minds or they will just fall for the next piece of shit liar to be crapped out by the Republican party.

There’s cause for hope here, because the Trump gang is so incredibly worse at this con game than anyone ever. I think their insanely inflated promises (“BEST HEALTH CARE EVER! FREE FOR EVERYBODY!”) are going to seriously backfire when people realize they were sold poisonous snake oil.

re: #11 HappyWarrior

Note too, the GOP isn’t being shy about what they’re doing with their tax plan that’s really a health care malware package.

They aren’t just repealing Obamacare. That’s a small portion of the plan. The plan attacks and guts Medicare and Medicaid. Safety net programs that have worked and provide care to millions of people and are able to achieve an economy of scale that private based insurance is unable or unwilling to do (and are able to negotiate lower reimbursement rates). They’re going after the Great Society and ultimately the New Deal.

And why?

Tax cuts so millionaires like Trump get even more wealth.

At the same time, the burdens multiply on the rest of the nation, making the schism between haves and have nots even worse.

The GOP plans don’t expand coverage to more people or make it more affordable for more people. It sucks the very life out of people and puts millions more at risk.

The GOP is also banking on a media that will magical balance fairy the shit out of this, obfuscating the reality that Obamacare is far better than anything the GOP had 8 years to concoct, or that the reason the GOP plan is so awful is that Democrats refused to work with the GOP, when the GOP actively worked to suppress all info about the GOP plan, hid it from public scrutiny and CBO/JCT scoring because both would reveal it to be a shit show of epic proportions.

Even then, the GOP thinks that this is a winning issue for them because they get to claim Obamacare is repealed - 8 years of incessant lies keeps this going. Their supporters think Obamacare is awful, when it’s anything but.

We pretty much have to hope for that because the alternatives are completely unthinkable. E.g., tr*mp goes down in history as St. Reagan v 2.0 because the history gets written by wingnuts and both siderists.

I like how the RWNJ talking points are always along the lines of “If some incredibly specific thing supposedly done by the Russians wasn’t actually done, the whole thing is a nothing burger.”

1) No GOP investigation of their fake bullshit scandals have ever had limited rules of engagement. It was always anything goes, most famously the Whitewater ‘investigation’ ending up in a perjury trap for Bill Clinton for blow jobs in the Oval Office.

2) That tr*mp has laundered Russian mob money for decades is as nearly certain as anything has ever been in the pre trial phase of a major scandal. There’s no dodging that oncoming train.

If the roles were flipped, there would have been multiple attempts by now of a RWNJ coup in DC, and every elected (D) official in DC would need a presidential-level security detail.

Edited to add: Hell, just the scenario of an (R) popular vote win that is also an electoral college loss would cause RWNJs to lose what remains of their minds.

WTF is wrong with the Daily Caller? Check out this joke of a story (with violent rhetoric too…) with the headline “Violence Is Never The Answer, But Here’s A New Reason To Want To Body Slam Guardian’s Ben Jacobs”

Link

“Jacobs — who really doesn’t want to be the story — didn’t bat an eye (no pun intended) when he donated his broken glasses to Washington’s Newseum.

For those covering Wednesday’s swearing-in of Gianforte, below is yet another statement from Jacobs.

“I welcome Congressman Gianforte to Capitol Hill where I’m confident he will live up to his pledge to champion a free press and the First Amendment. In the courtroom last week, he openly offered to do an interview with me when he came to Washington and I look forward to taking him up on that in the coming days.”

Honestly, if you didn’t want Jacobs body slammed or stuffed into a locker before, maybe you do now.”

Tried “if everyone pays a fixed percentage of their income towards health insurance, the cost is evenly spread out over a large population, meaning it becomes cheaper for everyone, even the rich folks. I know of a guy in Sweden who pays 8% of his income towards health care.”?
Then make him calculate how many per cent his health insurance sets him back. And yeah, 8%-ish is the portion of the county tax that goes toward health care in my county. And I’m willing to ask more questions about the eebil soshulist healthcare here :3

The poor man was doing everything right, but a cop pulled him over because he had an excuse, and then he panicked when Castile told him he had a license to carry and was armed. And the cop got off. The cop, the jury, the system - all guilty.

Maybe we as a country deserve what we’re going through, and the damage to our international standing that Trump will cause, if we do this to our own law-abiding citizens because of their color. Who are we to try and lead anyone? Where would we get any kind of moral authority?

I think that’s an extremely striking graph, myself. Social conservatives - i.e. religious wingnuts - will vote for a Republican every time. Economic liberals will vote for a Democrat every time. But the former are more strategically placed than the latter (I almost said there were more of them, but we all know who won the popular vote in 2016…)

And this differs from the left wing of the Democrats… how, exactly?

So many of my FB friends were supportive of Dickhead McConnell’s obstruction of Merrick Garland. I figured that’s what they would do, and they played it exactly right and got exactly what they wanted. Now, who gives a fuck what happens to Trump, the Supreme Court belongs to the Republicans until the next conservative justice kicks the bucket or retires.

Joy Reid had a good tweetstorm last night after the GA06 results. Someone had suggested that Handel’s voters had been ‘fooled’ somehow. Joy said, no, this is what they want.

She went on to basically say we cannot expect to win them over. What we have to do is Get. More. Dems. To. Vote. Get ‘em registered, get ‘em to the polls. Because Republicans ALWAYS vote, and they always vote for the Republican. If we don’t start doing that, we’ll keep ending up behind the 8 ball.

They were fooled in one sense - they bought Trump’s bullshit promises about health care for everyone and a giant border wall and coal mines everywhere. But they bought it because they agreed with his primary message of hatred and xenophobia and revanchism. That was the most important part of Trump’s campaign. The rest was window dressing.

I don’t have a lot of sympathy for most Trump voters, but I know a few Trump voters who don’t fit that mold. Telling them they supported evil because they are bad people won’t win them over.
A few are immigrants who a.) believed the all the slurs on HRC and b.) thought a businessman would be a great CEO for the country. Politically unsophisticated.
A couple people I know slightly were looking at lives they considered pretty hopeless. Four more years of gradual improvement wouldn’t really have helped them (crappy jobs, student debt, etc.) They gambled the rent money. And lost.

I’m not sure there’s a way to win over anyone who saw Donald Trump speak, and still voted for him. I’m serious.

And, honestly, I’m not sure how much I buy the ‘politically unsophisticated’ argument. For cripes sakes - it’s not rocket surgery. The man said a Latino judge couldn’t be fair to him because of his ancestry. He bragged, on tape, about sexually assaulting women. He slandered an entire religion.

There’s no way they didn’t know these things. But they were okay with it.

I am having a hard time with the sympathy myself. I just can’t fathom how voters didn’t think that they were going to get screwed by Trump themselves. I guess because they thought that he was “their” guy, and it was the “other” people that were going to get the shaft.

In terms of desperation, yes, I get it. My personal situation has finally improved for the first time in about two decades, and the ultimate insult is that now it all depends on assholes like Trump and those in Congress.

My brother told me about a series of ‘racial reconciliation’ discussions that his church did, when they were living in Raleigh NC. It was a reasonably liberal church, with a pretty mixed race crowd.

One night, he felt brave enough to admit that one of his coworkers was really racist, used a lot of racist language, said a lot of racist things. My brother admitted he tended to let those things slide unchallenged, but he felt bad about it.

One of the black women in the group told him bluntly that she didn’t know if she could trust him anymore, after hearing that - that, sure, he talked a good game in the church, but when it mattered he’d let that shit go unchallenged.

He realized what he’d been looking for was to be told that it was okay that he’d done that. He wanted absolution from the black people for not having had their backs. And he realized they were right not to give it to him.

I can’t absolve Trump voters. He wasn’t sneaky at all. All of his base character was on display. The idea that somehow Clinton could be worse is ludicrous.

It’s not only immigrants who believed this — there are educated people who bought into rw propaganda and share those beliefs, including the idea that what this country needs is a “successful” CEO.. And as said, there were average people whose life went into a tailspin as a result of the banking crisis; they were willing to try anything. People are gullible — they are willing to seize on any small glimmer of hope, why else would those who cannot afford it buy so many lottery tickets? One of them has 25 year stripes and I introduce myself and express thanks for their work. So I straight out pitch these guys to spend a lot of time on trains riding ‘cause between stations we are vulnerable. Pulling the emergency stop is going to extend first responder time. And it was pretty much a grab bag of the “serious” pundit mindset: Democrats need to “compromise” on social policy positions (i.e. abortion, immigration, & gun control), Pelosi needs to be replaced with someone less “radioactive” (Rich compares her to Gingrich), Russia is a “so-called” scandal, and (of course) that the DNC needs to stop being “anti-Trump” and being “for something.”

This part is actually true. The *potential* Dem voters who can’t be arsed to show up (voter-suppression victims excluded) genuinely don’t know or understand what the Democratic party has to offer them. Screw nuance and bring out the bold and dare I say simplistic claims as long as they’re tethered to reality. US voters reward “go big or go home” and punish anything perceived as subtlety or incrementalism.

As for Nancy Pelosi…have Democrats ever tried the classic GOP technique of doubling down instead of hem/haw timid-ass defensive plays? Since the haters are gonna hate anyway, what have Dems got to lose by saying something like, “You’re damn right we support Pelosi because even conservatives call her one of the most consequential speakers in history. She gets shit done, motherfucker. Shit that helps you and your family.”

Honestly, even people who don’t agree with you tend to respect you a hell of a lot more when you stand up for your beliefs.
