Well, this morning on Twitter he revealed his great surprise, and … SURPRISE, EVERYBODY! Now he wants to eliminate Obamacare and replace it with… nothing.

If Republican Senators are unable to pass what they are working on now, they should immediately REPEAL, and then REPLACE at a later date!

This makes sense if you’re the kinda guy (which Don is) who bought into all that ‘09-‘10 bullshit about how Obama “had a majority and pissed it away.” The kinda guy who believes that a party having a majority means they can rule by fiat. He doesn’t quite get that the current bill is such a steaming turd that Sen. Yertle is gonna have to spend a significant chunk of those Trumpcare “savings” to win over enough votes just to reach 50. So the idea that he can get to 50 by promising a total repeal, which would mean fucking over WAY more than 22 million Americans, is bugfuck insane to a degree that I don’t think most Americans comprehend.

But, I think we have to remember that the man just learned today that South Korea is a major trade partner with the US.

We heard about that late yesterday morning. She wasn’t on last night. I watched the opening…not a peep was said about poor Greta. It was just “Breaking News.”

Articles on the ‘net said her numbers were horrible and she didn’t feel accepted.

Score a win for the liberals that still watch. One mistake and counting for Andy Lack and his desire to create a monster of both sides say it. Hopefully things go as well for Hugh Hewitt and Bret Stevens (just hired) and they aren’t there very long.

1) They are fearful of being blackmailed by Trump and/or Jared.

But Trump’s plan makes total sense when you consider it in light of his business record: Deny the agreed-upon compensation, then dangle out whatever little morsel you feel like while making it clear that rejection of that means the other party gets nothing. So a full repeal makes sense because Donny knows that whatever “replace” bill the GOP comes up with afterward will seem like manna from Heaven to those desperate to get any kind of healthcare.

The Republicans have had years to come up with an alternative to the ACA but apparently never bothered to do any actual work toward that end. So we get a couple of quickly thrown together bills that basically amount to tax cuts for the rich (the only type of bill they seem capable of creating, for any purpose and not just healthcare). Are we surprised? No.

Having more and more trouble dealing with the political situation in this country. On one hand, I believe that it’s my duty as a citizen to stay informed about issues and what’s happening with the country. On the other hand, being informed keeps me depressed and cranky as I watch the country being torn apart and our institutions destroyed.

So, I look for good and beauty where I can. With that in mind, here are a couple of photos of some of the new arrivals in Mrs Cranky’s garden.

And all the Democrats have to do is say we haven’t restricted anything, we haven’t been asked to help and besides let’s fix the ACA like some GOP Senators now favor.

America shows they like it…as it now polls above 50% and climbing by comparison and the replacements are less than 25%.

Also remind people who voted 60+ (or more…lost count) times to kill the ACA and had 8 years plus to replace. Proof the GOP can’t get it done.

You already have GOP Senate people agreeing this is the way forward. Make a big deal about that…welcome them with open arms and box Mitch out.

This is politics. The GOP doesn’t have all the strength in this anymore. They have blown it and are currently licking their wounds.

The Democrats have the opportunity here…how about backing them and keeping the pressure on the GOP and not acting all Chicken Little. That is what the Republicans want, why give it to them?

Here’s the thing: Anybody who’s hoping that the defeat of Trumpcare will negatively affect Trump in 2020 is betting on a losing hand. When the ACA turned to be full of compromises to get the Blue Dogs onboard, the DNC base was savage in its criticism and it showed in the midterms. And yeah, a lot of the base had gotten over that initial flash of anger by 2012, but there was still a significant portion who felt “betrayed” and stayed home or voted third party.

By contrast, come 2020, the list of people that the Trump base will blame if Trumpcare is not law will make War and Peace seem short. They’ll blame the DNC for opposing it, they’ll blame the Congressional GOP for not falling on their swords to pass it, they’ll blame the CBO for its “false” estimates, they’ll blame the media for “lying” about it, etc, etc. They will not hold him personally responsible, will not pay attention to his positions on it that shift like desert dunes, and the lies they’ll tell themselves will be more numerous than the stars in the sky.

Win, lose, or fail, the only people who will pay a political price for Trumpcare will be the Congressional GOP. The people who voted for Trump are too delusional to hold him responsible.

The anti-estate tax folks love to treat this as though the tax hit family farmers, when the reality is the federal estate tax starts hitting people only if the estate is valued at $5.49 million or more.

There are a handful of states that impose estate tax, which can hit below the federal threshold.

what we know about him now:

The shooter has been identified as Dr. Henry Michael Bello, a 45-year-old Nigeria-born family medicine doctor formerly employed at the hospital, according to sources.
Bello was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the 17th floor after a two-story shooting rampage that left one doctor — a woman who has yet to be identified — dead and others fighting for their lives.

Officials said Bello tried to set himself on fire before committing suicide.

Sources tell NBC 4 New York a preliminary investigation reveals Bello resigned from the hospital in 2015 in lieu of termination.

Bello has past arrests for sex abuse, turnstile jumping, burglary and public urination, law enforcement sources said.

The standard answer from wingnuts to the question of income inequality (after “the rich are the most productive people in society!”) is that we have the greatest social mobility.

They see Europe as either something like pre-WWI Europe, with a rigidly fixed class system, or a socialist hellhole of shared poverty where NOBODY has anything. This is why saying ‘You don’t want to be like EUROPE!’ works, while people who have either traveled, or know somebody from Europe wonder what the hell they’re talking about.

They just KNOW that those people in the countries with universal healthcare all get cut off at 60 years old, that they can’t ever see a doctor, etc. When you point out that those countries all have better health outcomes by any measure, they make the handwaving “their populations are smaller and less diverse!”, as if that made any sense.

Ford Focus is the #1 selling vehicle in the world, but not popular in the U.S. Americans like their F-150’s.

I have friends in China who have Ford Foci. They are very nice cars, comfortable, economical and reliable.

From what I understand, the AWD sport versions of that car are extremely popular here among those who want that sort of thing, especially since there are no real competitors to it other than the Subaru WRX line, and those haven’t been updated for *years* and aren’t due to be until 2020-ish.

Public policy changes to reduce wealth concentration and wealth inheritance aren’t ‘against the rich’ although that is usually how it gets framed.

How it gets framed depends largely on whom we ask, or who appears dominant in popular media. On wealth inherited or otherwise-I refuse to paint a Bill Gates or Elon Musk with a Pharmabro based broad brush. Or ignore what independent business success Paris Hilton has managed because (to some) high profile pretty and rich and oh right sextape so slut forever.

Man reportedly walks away unscathed after black bear attack along Juneau trail

There was another report of bear(s) activities at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.
At one location there was a sow with 4 cubs, another sow with 3 cubs, and yet two more sows with 2 cubs each. That’s 4 sows and 11 cubs in the same general area. There must be something in our water or fish that makes our bears very fertile.
