Trump won’t let Trump be cleared.

Trump’s ego could never stand not being the only thing that could affect Trump’s future.

re: #6 Stanley Sea

Since I’ve first lived here, the county has slowly been becoming less Republican. Even the city proper has become less Republican, and Faulconer won most likely because he was seen a not too-unreasonable person (he’s not a social extremist like many Republicans). With what Trump has done to the GOP though, perhaps even a Republican can’t win in San Diego any more, even as mayor.

The short term effect of Trump has mainly to bring out the old time racists and the new-fangled ones. As Trump’s malfeasance ages more damage will be done, but right now the image problem for the GOP may be his biggest accomplishment.

About my Perl question from last night, if anyone cares:

I needed the backslash in the call to printit(). This causes the object to be passed by reference. The fact that you have to tell the compiler how to treat objects ($,%,@,%$,@$,$$,\) is a major pain in the butt. It ought to be able to figure it out at runtime.

use strict;

sub printit
{
    my ($sh) = @_;
    foreach my $v( keys %$sh )
    {
        print "$v\n";
    }
}

sub main
{
    my %simplehash = (
        first => [ 1, 2 ],
        second => [ 3, 4 ]
    );
    printit( \%simplehash );
}

main();

We have nonpartisan local elections in California. And usually the local elections are legitimately local elections, so a candidate’s party affiliation is rarely an issue.

That said, Falconer has been fairly consistent that he wasn’t going to run for governor since last year. But he probably has the creditenials to win statewide here, he’s on the right side of social issues (which will piss off the socons left in the CAGOP).

Last point: the GOP is at 25.9% in California. Independents (or “decline to state” as we say here) is at 24.5%. That’s a bad place for a party to be

My sister’s pup took the rainbow bridge today. For 12 years she was a constant (and the first inside dog we’d ever really had). She was the office puppy at the family business and was at pretty much every family event over the years.

She was having trouble with her bowels and it turned out to be a tumor. Specialist gave her a couple of weeks, but she was in pain - she went from galloping everywhere to not wanting to get up

It never gets easier, does it?

Prior to yesterday, my best tweet had 115 likes. Three tweets I put up yesterday in response to Carlson’s “What have immigrants ever done for America?” asinine statement account for over 10% of my likes. I will most likely never top this one:

The water tower project is complete. The tower is starting to fill.

A glass company will be out to my house Monday to replace my broken windscreen from the hailstorm two days ago.

Out-of-state friend dropped by unannounced travelling from Michigan to Oregon.

I see my state Secretary of State (Nebr.) told Kris Kobach to FO on his fishing request voter suppression effort voter integrity project. I guess my call to Mr. Gale’s office (our Secretary of State) had an effect. (Well, that and probably tens of thousands of others here.) The state isn’t going to spend our money on such a patent bunch of nonsense.

On the issue of “voters registered in two states”: When we moved here, we were registered in Oklahoma. After registering here, we were registered in two states. I called the county election official in Oklahoma to ask what it took to strike our names from the voter roles there.

Turns out that’s a whole lot harder than I thought. (Oklahoma doesn’t do that over the phone or Internet because they don’t want rodent copulation of their voter rolls.) We had to go to town and get a notary to witness two letters (one from me and one from my wife) showing we no longer lived in Oklahoma (a copy of our Nebraska voter cards sufficed), and that we specifically were requesting to be removed from Oklahoma’s voter rolls.

About three weeks later, Oklahoma sent us letters notifying us that we were removed, and we could be reinstated if we returned to the state.

I’m guessing a lot of people don’t go through all that work to get removed from an old state’s rolls (ditto for someone who died or moved out of the country).

Sigh. First world problems…

So I was supposed to pick up a used truck today. Unfortunately the owner was at work and her husband didn’t know she’d put the title in the glovebox. So I put the money back in my wallet and walk home. Tonight I had to ride my bicycle to work. Halfway here, thunderstorm. drenched. Drowning rat look.

To make things more fun when I arrived at work someone had put Faux on the lobby TV. That got fixed fast since no one was watching that trash.

at least I had a spare shirt at work though my lower half is still soggy.

And I get to hopefully pick up that Jimmy in the morning. A bit Rusty & needs a tune-up but the 4 wheel drive works and the rubber is good so I feel it’s worth what she’s asking for it.

And how is your night going? ;)

Missouri residents should be protesting in front of the Secretary of State’s office. Or, a legislator can do like Texas did: Introduce a bill saying no money can go for this. (Get the Republicans on record voting in favour of turning over private information.)

On Friday, Ashcroft spokeswoman Maura Browning said the state is providing only publicly available information. She said that means no Social Security numbers, no political affiliations and no details on how people voted.

My freezer appeared broken. Super hot walls of refrigerator (compressor fan per the google) ice cream bars melted.

Happy holiday weekend!

Google also provided me a listing of a local company with 25 reviews, all 5 stars. Called him at 6:50, he was here in 35 minutes. Of course the fan is working now, freezer is cold, ice cream bars not jiggling.

He didn’t charge me, left his card & said I’d be calling him again probably. Really nice Russian guy. (Really. I asked)

All was lost though when he read the Obama postcard on my refrigerator & said, “do you like him?” & I said “I LOVE him!!”

Que sera sera! LOL what a night so far!

Sorry about the rain William.

That is an interesting article, though I don’t entirely know what to make of it.

Let’s hope those that do (intelligence committees, justice committees, the FBI) can determine whether this is nothing more than a distraction on the Lawfareblog or an important piece of information.

He says he is not an American nor a resident. Would he be interested in talking to the FBI or another relevant agency (long-term lizards here know this fellow but I don’t).

I cannot find anything on the Secretary of State for Nebraska Website. News reports seem to indicate that no decision has been reached. (Means I call again tomorrow.)

There is no love lost between John Gale (who as an R worked to expand voter rights in Nebraska) and Kris Kobach (who works to restrict them).

Moreover, when Nebraska passed a bill to permit in-state tuition at colleges for certain undocumented immigrants in 2005, Kris Kobach sued the schools and Board of Regents here. (He lost, but that cost our state a bunch of money to defend. Kobach doesn’t have a lot of friends here.)
