Michael Isikoff is saying Trump’s lawyers were aware of Donny Jr’s emails back last June. It puts Trump in another strange statement saying he only learned about them a few days ago. As Isikoff said, either Trump’s lawyers keep him totally in the dark, or Trump is lying again.

Isikoff is on Chris Haye’s show.

Apparently today, Trump said he’d MAYBE heard about the meeting, but not that it had to do with dirt on HRC from Russia.

Mind you, a day or so ago, he’d never heard of the meeting. By Monday, he’ll have said he actually dropped in to say hello, and to thank Vlad for all the help winning the Primary.

There’s a reason I keep calling Trumpcare a tax cut for millionaires like Trump. He’s leveraged to the hilt and has little in the way of liquid assets. It’s all for appearances, and he can’t move his real estate - and where most of his value is now in trademark deals, not actual real estate (buildings/land).

re: #38 Blind Frog Belly White

Back in August, a retired spy told me he had been informed of its existence by “the head of an East European intelligence agency”.

Later, I used an intermediary to pass some questions to active duty CIA officers dealing with the case file - they would not speak to me directly. I got a message back that there was “more than one tape”, “audio and video”, on “more than one date”, in “more than one place” - in the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow and also in St Petersburg - and that the material was “of a sexual nature”.

The claims of Russian kompromat on Mr Trump were “credible”, the CIA believed. That is why - according to the New York Times and Washington Post - these claims ended up on President Barack Obama’s desk last week, a briefing document also given to Congressional leaders and to Mr Trump himself.

Mr Trump did visit Moscow in November 2013, the date the main tape is supposed to have been made. There is TV footage of him at the Miss Universe contest. Any visitor to a grand hotel in Moscow would be wise to assume that their room comes equipped with hidden cameras and microphones as well as a mini-bar.

At his news conference, Mr Trump said he warned his staff when they travelled: “Be very careful, because in your hotel rooms and no matter where you go you’re going to probably have cameras.” So the Russian security services have made obtaining kompromat an art form.

I’ll see your quote, and raise:

One Russian specialist told me that Vladimir Putin himself sometimes says there is kompromat on him - though perhaps he is joking. The specialist went on to tell me that FSB officers are prone to boasting about having tapes on public figures, and to be careful of any statements they might make.

A former CIA officer told me he had spoken by phone to a serving FSB officer who talked about the tapes. He concluded: “It’s hokey as hell.”

Mr Trump and his supporters are right to point out that these are unsubstantiated allegations.

House Narrowly Rejects Hartzler Amendment Against Trans Healthcare in the military—Goes to the Washington Blade (an outlet for LGBT news)

More at the link:

The U.S. House narrowly rejected on Thursday an amendment that would have barred transgender service members from being eligible for transition-related health care, including gender reassignment surgery.

The measure, which would have barred the Defense Department from expending funds on transition-related care, was introduced by Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.) as part of the fiscal year 2018 defense authorization bill, but rejected on a 214-209 vote.

After Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), who presided over the vote, called out the tally, Democrats in the House chamber applauded in victory. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.), who’s gay and a co-chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus, could be seen raising both hands in the air in a double-fist bump in celebration.

All 190 Democrats present voted against the proposal. They were joined by 24 Republicans, including Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), who has a transgender son, as well as Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.), Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.), Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) and Mike Coffman (R-Colo.).

But Trump is probably making a lot of money based on his prestigious position. I assume his hotels are doing well. By the time he leaves the White House he’ll be worth a whole lot more than $100 million. Tax cuts for the rich passed by Congress won’t hurt either.

Even Trump can’t call the wall a wall… it’s now a wall with a bunch of holes - so you can avoid getting brained by 60 pound sacks of heroin being thrown over the wall.

In other words, he’s describing a fence.

A fucking fence.

$20 to $30 billion for a fucking fence that wont stop illegal immigration, wont stop crime, and wont stop any drug epidemic, mostly because the border isn’t central to any of those issues.

Illegal immigrants? Many overstay visas, just like the lawyer Kushner, Junior, and Manafort met with.

Drug epidemic? It starts with overprescribing meds.

Immigrants make up a lower percentage of the crime rate than other groups.

Which is more believable?

1. Politco cites four White House officials and two outside advisers who revealed Kushner wants the full power of the government behind defending the president’s son…A Kushner confidant claimed that the Trump son-in-law was furious there wasn’t a stronger strategy from the White House staff.

2. “These conversations simply did not happen and Jared did not raise a single one of these points besides saying thank you to everyone for their continued hard work,” the White House said in a statement.

If nothing else, these last two years have exposed just how deep the rot goes in the American Right. Their policies have always been the worst kind of “bastard child of Ayn Rand and Jerry Falwell” sort, but I had not truly appreciated just how completely venal and corrupt they all were, how ready - eager, even - to sell their souls for gain.

I watched The Shawshank Redemption again last night, and again I was blown away by this heart-rending story of persevering through the worst circumstances imaginable. Such a great movie, and it really hinges on the amazing original novella by Stephen King. I think Stephen King will eventually be recognized as one of the greatest writers of the last century, commercially successful but also artistically transcendent in many of his books. Not every Stephen King book fits that description, but many do.

There was a WSJ article yesterday, I think, about the DT2 meeting, and it was a decent article. So I thought I would explore the comment section, to see if it was showing signs of enlightenment. In a word, NO. They were more literate and grammatical, and didn’t go it for h*ck language or conspiracy theories, but they were in total denial about the Russian connection. Total. Denial.

The contrast between Russian Collusion awareness and BENGHAZI awareness is stunning.

Filmed in my old hometown region. As a matter of fact, I go by the ol’ prison often as the road behind it leads to a road that goes to my one brother’s home.

I won’t go into the whole story, but a guy I and another friend lived with back in art school days did a 6 month shock sentence in there. This was 1976. The prison wasn’t open much longer. It changed him big time.

Not a single person in Trump’s inner circle could be bothered to follow the rules about any number of filings. Sessions and Kushner lied about contacts, putting their security clearances at risk. Now we learn Bannon lied about his financial disclosures and had to amend the filing - having misrepresented $2 million in debt.

On top of that, the WH Ethics Officer had certified that this was all legit and acceptable under the rules (it wasn’t). It’s that latter bit that’s even more troubling, since if there’s no one willing to follow the rules in the Ethics Office, it’s already all too clear that Trump and his cronies don’t care about the law, let alone anything as squishy as ethics.

Well, in my state, you can only serve in the Unicameral if you are wealthy. The pay is $12,000. You have to maintain a residence in your district and in Lincoln. If you have some other job, you have to leave it for the legislative sessions. And $12,000 is not enough to live on.

So, pretty much everyone in my state legislature is wealthy. I could never run for state office (assuming I was qualified) because I can’t afford the pay.

But Trump is probably making a lot of money based on his prestigious position. I assume his hotels are doing well. By the time he leaves the White House he’ll be worth a whole lot more than $100 million. Tax cuts for the rich passed by Congress won’t hurt either.

The real money he expects to make is by lifting sanctions, so Russians can buy billions of dollars worth of his apartments.

I brought that up in the last thread. The Republican claim was that revocation of his security clearance didn’t belong in the bill in question (they said that should be left up to security professionals).

That said, they seem to be quite willing to sell out our country for power, don’t they? (I have always maintained that the only purpose of conservatism throughout history is to maintain itself in power. Any nation, any age, when conservatives gain power their sole concern is keeping it.)

To cover the Cruz Amendment to the Weathcare for Billionaires bill, the amendment counts the same money multiple times for different accounts:

talkingpointsmemo.com

But as Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) told reporters on Thursday, there is no additional money. Instead, the amendment takes money already appropriated in the bill for other needs and says it can be used for these payments to insurers under the Cruz Amendment.

“It seems to me you’re using that money over and over again,” she said. “It’s supposed to relieve the cost of high premiums. It’s supposed to solve the problem with deductibles being unaffordable. It’s supposed to be available for high-risk or reinsurance pool. It’s supposed to be available under the Cruz Amendment to help prevent a huge increase in rates for people with pre-existing conditions.”

Matthew Fiedler, a fellow at Brookings Institute’s Center for Health Policy, confirmed this double-dipping to TPM.

The town they’re from in PA (New Hope) is a known breeding ground for eccentrics of all stripes. James A. Michener, Aaron Burr and members of Rollins Band and the Buzzcocks all come out of New Hope.

An aside - I saw an ad on ebay a year or two ago. They were selling their studio rig - but whoever won the auction had to drive out to New Hope to pick it up.

I also have an ambient noise record called “Dawn at New Hope Pennsylvania.” Mostly birds and wind…

Henry Rollins was an early fan.

Following a February 1990 City Gardens performance where Ween’s reception was lukewarm, Rollins got on stage and warned the crowd to “start liking them now”, for one day, “you will get down on your filthy knees and crawl to the altar that is Ween”.

White House aides, by choosing to assist in covering up the Donald Trump Jr. meeting with Russian agents, have now exposed themselves to Robert Mueller’s investigation.

He’s going to be handing out subpoenas like Halloween candy in the not too distant future.

NEWS ALERT: White House aides may be exposed to special counsel scrutiny over response to Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer.

(CNN)A scramble by White House aides to respond to the brewing controversy over Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer may have exposed those aides to special counsel scrutiny.

They can now be called on by investigators led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller to explain what they may have learned about the meeting that the President’s eldest son, Trump Jr., his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort had with the Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign.
White House aides and Kushner’s legal team began strategizing in late June over how to manage the disclosure of newly discovered emails setting up that meeting, according to sources close to Kushner’s legal team.

Susan Collins. Firmly against the new MitchandGOPDon’tDoHealth bill. Add her to Rand.

Need one more no vote to cause problems for it to go through.

If a few more GOP Senators are too weak to announce right off they too are against it, they may come out tomorrow now that a lot of negative press is hitting on this newest version. And they have cover from Collins.

This is what happened right before the 4th. Hopefully it goes that way again.

I hope it dies tomorrow. Bury it in the late day news. Why drag it out?

dark money to buy people and ad time
hacking to damage the Democrats and keep the GOP in check/cahoots
possible attack on voter rolls and electoral process in key states (with help from the GOP)
Media compromised by feeding them filtered intel before it could be vetted, spin established by twitter bots and friendly faces in the Media (Faux, CNN and Mercer and the key critical few in the NYT)
playing upon CDS established by the GOP to hamstring the FBI

pretty fucking effective I’d say… and if the money trails are ever tracked down, we could probably fill a prison wing with all of the compromised folks.
