Mrs. FBW is inputting The Older Boy’s classes into iCloud Calendar, but because somehow we have a family calendar plus each of us having our own, every time she enters another event, I get three notifications on my iPhone. I had to turn my ringer off, but it’s still ‘vvvvvrrrrppp’ing each time.

Oh, and now it appears she got the time wrong for one of the classes, so I’m receiving each and every correction 3 times, as well!

Scaramucci is another former Goldman Sachs dude, a lawyer and way too slick. Trump has liars and then there is another level of lying and I think Scaramucci is on that level.

As I said, they weren’t off camera because of suppression of the press, that was just a perk. They were off camera because Trump would get angry if he saw them. Now he’ll be happy again, and they’ll be back on, so he can watch someone praise him on TV.

Trump knows everyone around him is up to their eyeballs in criminality. Every last one of them. He picked them for that express reason - their connections and loyalty to him. Everyone links back to him. They were all working for him.

And soon, they will be talking to investigators who are all angling to nail as many for as many criminal acts as possible, and leverage deals to get the people above them in the food chain.

Ultimately it means someone like Flynn or Manafort cutting deals to get Kushner or Pence or Tillerson or Trump himself. Or Kushner or Junior rolling on each other to avoid more serious charges.

No one is going to come out of this clean - even if there’s pardons handed out like candy by Trump. Accepting the pardon is an admission of guilt.

But here’s the kicker - there are states looking at Trump criminality, and they aren’t bound by Trump’s pardons (who can only act on federal crimes). States, like NY, could proceed on state charges against those involved if they have contemporaneous criminal acts and nail them for those instead.

For instance, Kushner or Manafort engaged in financial crimes. Trump pardons both on their federal crimes (including false statements, etc.), but that wouldn’t extend to the NY financial crimes.

Also, the person receiving the pardon is usually supposed to acknowledge some wrong-doing. I remember that as somehow being a snag in the Ford pardon of Nixon.

That “okay” hand symbol you’ve been seeing everywhere (for instance, below)? That too is an alt-right meme intended to trigger progressives. That’s why left-wing nonprofits are both right and wrong to call the symbol “white supremacist”; in practical terms, it absolutely is, as it’s nigh impossible to distinguish the behavior of an alt-right troll online from a “real” (politically committed) white supremacist, but the fact that many who use it online are simply trolling the Left without feeling any actual animus toward non-whites or Jews makes the whole thing devilishly fun for these man-children (and, of course, a few women, too).

The appointment of Mr. Scaramucci, a favorite of Mr. Trump’s earliest campaign supporters, was backed by the president’s daughter Ivanka, his son-in-law and adviser Mr. Kushner and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, the officials said.

A truly abominable film. It bore no resemblance to the children’s book of the same title. That book was authored by none other than Ian Fleming of James Bond fame, apparently as a gift for his son Caspar.
The name of the car comes from Chitty Bang Bang, a series of actual cars built by a Polish nobleman, racer, and apparent insane person, Count Louis Zborowski, in the early 20’s. For Chitty 1, the count put a 23 liter Maybach zeppelin engine into a chain-driven 1912 Benz touring car chassis, added minimal bodywork and drove the monster 120 mph at the Brooklands track. Its stagecoach/oxcart brake and suspension technology made this quite an adventure. He was also known to drive it on the public roads. Chitty 4 (aka Babs) had a 27 liter Liberty airplane engine and set the world speed record at 171 mph in 1926. It crashed during a later attempt, killing driver John Parry-Thomas. The wreck was buried on the spot. It was recovered in the 1960s and restored to running condition.

It’s also in line with Trump’s established pattern of empty threats. How often have things been teased that never come to pass? Already he’s threatened to fire Mueller untold times, never delving into how he’d fire him (you know, Rod Rothenstein and all that).

I’m not saying any of these threats will never happen. But the longer he continues to make empty threat after empty threat, the less likely anyone will believe him.

Robert Mueller is no dummy. I betcha he’s seen shady characters like Trump quite a few times, and knows exactly how to press their buttons.

Any TV reporter who starts talking about how the “messaging” will now change under the watchful eye of Anthony Scaramucci is telling you that they think the administration’s lying will now be smoother and more telegenic. The president will continue to be an unqualified, undereducated dolt. The policies, such as they are, will continue to be retrograde and cruel. Bob Mueller will shrug and get back to work until El Caudillo del Mar-a-Lago fires him. The public face of this particular administration is doomed always to be more of a useless bobo than all the press secretaries who have come before. None of that will change.

State Superintendent Tony Evers files to run for governor

State Superintendent Tony Evers has filed paperwork to challenge Gov. Scott Walker in a 2018 race, according to state campaign records.

Evers, 65, said earlier this month he had heard from a number of supporters urging him to run for governor after he earned 70 percent of votes cast in an April election to secure a third term as head of the state’s 422 school districts.

But Evers isn’t calling the Friday filing a “final decision.”

“As I continue talking with voters about the future of our state, this is the next logical for me to take,” Evers said in a statement. “My record of public service and leadership on behalf of Wisconsin families, kids, and educators brings a unique and different choice for voters. One that I believe provides a compelling alternative to the status quo. I look forward to making a final decision in the near future.”

The state superintendent position is officially nonpartisan, but Evers has been heavily backed by Democrats, making him one of only three statewide officeholders with Democratic support.

Former GOP foe urges cancer-stricken McCain to quit so she can get seat

Former State Sen. Kelli Ward, who’s running against Republican Sen. Jeff Flake in next year’s primary, says cancer-stricken Sen. John McCain should resign “as quickly as possible” and Arizona’s governor should think about naming her to replace him.

Here’s what Ward told an Indiana radio station Thursday:

“I hope that Senator McCain is going to look long and hard at this, that his family and his advisers are going to look at this, and they’re going to advise him to step away as quickly as possible, so that the business of the country and the business of Arizona being represented at the federal level can move forward.”

Listen Up, Progressives: Here’s How to Deal with a 4Chan (“Alt-Right”) Troll (Seth Abramson on Medium)

Describes Rage Furby very well, complete with the “autism” angle.

Another favorite, the FIAT Mefistofele. This was another aero-engine car, with a 21.7 liter FIAT A.12 in a primitive chassis. It was put together by Ernest Eldridge in the early 20s. Like Chitty Bang Bang and similar vehicles, it took advantage of the large supply of war surplus aircraft engines that were available at bargain prices. It set a new world speed record of 146 mph on the public roads of Arpajon, France in July, 1924. This was the last land speed record to be set on a public road.
Italeri makes a really cool 1/12 scale model of this. It is a bit pricey though. Being an old codger, I have actually bought real cars for less.

Florida Teens Will Face Charges after Filming a Man Drowning in a Retention Pond and Uploading It to Social Media

Essentially, four teenagers last week filmed a disabled father of two drowning in a retention pond, and commented and laughed until he sank below the wastewater.

Initially, the sheriff did not bring charges though the teens were identified immediately, because he said there was nothing in Florida law he could charge them with.

The prosecutor did some digging, and came up with a law that applies to medical examiners, that requires reporting of a death to officials. The teens did not do that, the law is written as “persons” not medical examiners, so the prosecutor had them charged under that statute. He says this will be a test case for Florida.

I applaud Rick Wilson for sticking to his guns and staying firmly in the “Never Trump” camp. He should go the full way and swing over to the Democratic party.

“Sessions discussed matters related to Trump campaign with Russian ambassador, U.S. intelligence intercepts show “

I knew Sessions was lying at his hearing in the Senate. Since I’m a southerner by birth, I got the clue when Sessions went into his “How dare ya’ll evah think Ah colluded with Russha in any way.”

That was Scaramucci’s way of telling Spicer to take the money and keep his mouth shut. Be a Fox pundit for a few years and retire comfortably.

Stanley “Rocket” steamer working towards a land speed record (127 MPH) in 1903. Foregoing the helmet saved considerable weight.

Helmet wouldn’t have helped in that car anyway. Be like getting in a wreck in a cheese grater.

Detroit Local Powers First EV Charging Road in North America The road, about a mile from Local 58's hall, uses rubber-coated copper inductive-charging coils buried under the asphalt that transfer power to a receiver pad attached to a car's underbelly, much like how a phone can be charged wirelessly. ...
