Florida family awakened by fifteen pounds of frozen sausage which crashed onto their roof.

When family members went outside to investigate, they found two packages of frozen Italian pork sausage in the side yard of their Deerfield Beach home, and three more on the roof. Adair told The Associated Press that the meat sacks must have fallen from above, since they were too heavy to have been thrown onto the roof from the ground. His’ wife, Jennie Adair, speculated the meat fell from a plane, and may have related to a “drug deal.”

JAKARTA — Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo has instructed law enforcement officers to shoot drug traffickers to deal with a narcotics emergency facing the country.

“Be firm, especially to foreign drug dealers who enter the country and resist arrest. Shoot them because we indeed are in a narcotics emergency position now,” Widodo said in a speech delivered at an event held by one of Indonesia’s political parties late on Friday.

His remarks have drawn comparison to that of Philippine’s President Rodrigo Duterte, who launched a brutal anti-drug crackdown about a year ago that saw many alleged drug dealers killed.

Trump’s political speech on the Gerald R. Ford (politicising the military) is another way authoritarians establish power.

The military stays under civilian rule in this country for a very good reason. Politicising the military leads to things like military dictatorships.

I am disgusted that Mr. Trump is trying to foul the military service I spent my career in.

It did not mention him urging seamen to call Congress about his stalled wealthcare for billionaires bill.

Buddy and Blossom are generally pissed by the invaders and are acting out in their own ways. Fortunately they are directing their pissed-offedness at the right place: me. (They aren’t getting the chance at the kittens who still think all the world is love and play and Nom.)

Example of acting out: Buddy. We went over to my neighbor/friend’s place earlier to watch a movie and Buddy planted himself next to her, staring at me, for the entire time we were there. Like, you got someone else, I can has someone else too. I find that fair.

Blossom cracks me up. After the kittens have had playtime with me on the sofa or bed, Blossom struts around the area like fucking Gen. Patton, inspecting the space for kitty cooties and flinging the toys on the floor.

I’m guessing liberal hippie doesn’t fit their idea of “ordinary Nebraskan” as depicted in the article.

Coen Brothers views of “ordinary” anything is probably unlike true ordinary. Plus, y’know, such a sparsely populated place, it’s probably already a struggle to find enough extras. Especially with clothes from 1960’s patterns that could be made to look like hand-me-downs.

Decent money, plus they’ll probably have a good lunch.

Well, the area they are talking about (north of Mitchell) is a whole lot of empty. Makes where I live look positively metropolitan by comparison. One of the reasons they picked the location is there is absolutely no XX Century anachronisms like power lines or paved roads.

Since it’s going to be filmed on a ranch though, who knows? Perhaps the owner will throw a bar-b-que.

With the end of guinea worm in sight, Jimmy Carter takes aim at another problem he believes can be solved: River blindness.

The Carter Center is now a finalist in proposals to the MacArthur Foundation for a $100 Million grant.

The Problem

River blindness affects an estimated 32.7 million people worldwide. Caused by a worm parasite that spreads via the bite of a black fly, the disease is most endemic in Nigeria. With its dense and growing population, roughly 50 million people in 40,000 communities in Nigeria are infected with or at risk of the disease.
The Solution

The Carter Center will eliminate transmission of river blindness disease in Nigeria, creating a model for the rest of Africa and the world.

In partnership with the Ministry of Health and local NGOs, the Center will work through community-directed distribution systems to administer the drug ivermectin once or twice per year. This medicine is proven to stop transmission of the condition.

The program will train community-level volunteers in the appropriate dosing and administration of the drug and to provide health education to families and neighbors, creating a sustainable, rudimentary healthcare infrastructure in remote communities.

Similar Carter Center projects have eliminated river blindness from four countries in the Americas and from parts of Uganda and Sudan. This project will bring these best practices to scale across Nigeria, demonstrating that eliminating river blindness is possible in even the largest and most challenging environments.

They’ve been a band (in their current form) since 1985.

What year did you see them? 2009? I was at one of the Alpine Valley shows that year. The Deer Creek show I went to before Alpine Valley (with a *big* rain delay - 70+ minutes - during set break), was a lot of fun.

I don’t claim to be a “phan” though I like their music and have seen them a half dozen times in concert. I will say that their career as a drug band has been incredible and unparalleled.

BTW, you don’t need drugs to enjoy Phish.

Well, a large part of it is that so much of the intellectual property that appears in the book is owned by widely separated companies, some of whom will refuse under any condition to allow their characters to be used. Especially some who appear in a negative light.

I’m quite partial to films from the 1970’s - as an example, I’m watching this right now:

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

Even though this one didn’t get quite all the critical acclaim of its predecessor, it’s still a very solid, well-written, well-acted flick.

You know, in reading around the last few days it seems the Russians have more say in Donny Trump’s administration future than the Republicans.

Take the way Putin’s people like Kislyak can play with someone like Sessions.

Trump makes scary noises about Sessions and Sessions comes out mid-week and says give me more Mr. President. Maybe that stopped Trump from firing him. Then Friday late Kislyak is reported to have made it clear Sessions did meet and discuss Trump’s campaign.

That both gives Trump and excuse to fire Sessions but then also acknowledges Trump was in deep with the Russians during the campaign.

The Russians are toying with us all. I wonder when some from OUR government are going to decide to put a stop to that type of influence control?

In local news here in Sweden, a police officer has been killed in the line of duty.
He was chasing armed robbers on foot when he was struck by a car (initial reports are that the driver is not related in any way to the robbers). He was taken to hospital but his life could not be saved. Half mast has been ordered for police HQ’s nationwide.

It’s a rare occurrence that a police officer is killed in the line of duty here in Sweden, it’s like once every one to three years (if that much).

Will post news articles as they become available in English. Did this post partly out of respect for law enforcement, partly to give you lizardim a heads-up in case the alt-Reich decides to blame it on immigrants like they usually do.

When I used to live close to Toronto, I was a part of the background in a movie and a CBC series. It was loads of walking around all day with other extras, eating delicious snacks and most of all having a great time. I never watched the movie or series (can’t even remember the name of either, tbh) to see if I made the cut but it was loads of fun.

If I wasn’t so dang lazy, I’d try out for extra roles in movies/series that are filmed in D.C. It was a great day to spend a Sunday.

Sadly, I recall another similar situation where the driver left scores of immigrants to die in sweltering heat in the back of his truck a few years ago. Beyond inhumane.

I was an extra in the Hannah Montana movie, a member of the “hometown crowd” in a benefit concert. For two day’s work in 90-degree heat, I netted $65 and a lot of free water. It was a lot of fun, though. The verdict is still out whether you can see me in the crowd — my “scene” may have ended up on the cutting room floor.

Keslow Camera is acquiring Clairmont Camera and its Vancouver and Toronto operations for an undisclosed price.

The deal was announced on Monday by Keslow, which describes itself as the largest privately held motion picture camera equipment rental house in North America.

The company said the move will more than quadruple Keslow Camera’s anamorphic and vintage lens inventory, and add a substantial range of custom camera equipment to its portfolio. Simultaneously, Clairmont founder Denny Clairmont announced his retirement on Monday. The acquisition is expected to be completed on or before Aug. 4.

When’s the last time the Post, or any newspaper, has written about how bad some urban panhandler has it?

I literally just finished reading that article and I’m torn. The kid wants to work…mostly. the guy who embarrassed his dad for panhandling was a dick as the dad was all kinds of fucked up (from working in the coal mines to drugs to prison) and (by the dads word), couldn’t work. Embarrassing him with a viral “get a job loser!” Thing serves no purpose. Now, had he offered the kid a job, that kids life would have changed for two reasons: he wanted money from a job and the asshole could have instilled in the kid, what his own father neglected to do, a stronger work ethic.

The kids did all the right things, didn’t get his girlfriend pregnant, finished high school, saved for a car, went to a trade school (an hour away), etc., then got in a car accident and lost his car. Which what sounded to me like that was the end of any goals he might have had. And why I said the guy who hated panhandlers and more so because they won’t take a job world have greatly benefited that kid.

Sad story no matter. Sad all around.

The only way deleting those makes any kind of sense is if you believe tou can change the past. But you can’t.

Has some published screenshots of all of his tweets he wants to delete?

“Cui Bono?”

Back in the good old days, I thought the answer to that was:

Sonny.

yesterday was the final Individual Time Trial, they started and finished in the stadium.
I’ve seen races use stadiums and airfields before.
This usage is directly related to Frances bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics

Yes, but by that time, I knew what ‘cui bono’ meant. And I like the photo from the old-old days better.

re: #193 Timothy Watson

I’m a huge fan. When I moved to VA in the 80’s, the first newscast I saw was News 4 with Vance. I never watched anyone else. I liked to tell folks that Vance was the most important man in DC, followed by the POTUS and the ‘Skins QB. He will be sorely missed in the DMV.
