Trump Grudgingly Condemns Neo-Nazi Violence in #Charlottesville, Then Attacks Merck CEO for Criticizing Him

Our disgusting narcissist in chief
Politics • Views: 41,892

YouTube

After three days of equivocating, wishy-washy statements about the white supremacist terror attack in Charlottesville, the Trump-thing’s advisers finally pushed him into a statement condemning neo-Nazis and white supremacists, obviously written by someone else.

If I sound unimpressed, well… do you blame me? Donald Trump waited long enough for the neo-Nazi crowd that helped elect him to feel he still supported them, and they’ll now see this statement as what it was — a late, pro forma expression of “condemnation” he doesn’t truly feel, grudgingly given under protest.

The damage is already done, and this doesn’t fix it.

Meanwhile, Trump showed his true nature once again when the black CEO of Merck resigned from Trump’s manufacturing council with a strong statement denouncing our so-called president’s ugly response to the Charlottesville attack.

Minutes later, Trump viciously attacked Kenneth Frazier by name on Twitter; demonstrating how sincere Trump’s statement really was.

Well, point of order here.

Trump attacked the Merck CEO first this morning, then addressed Charlottesville in terms far, far less vociferous than he used toward Mr. Frazier.

It’s clear where his priorities lie. And he still managed to get around to ‘both sides same thing’ing the entire goddamn thing.

from down below re google:

its really quite simple and godaddy has paved the way

google is not a utility
no one has a right “to their service”, though i havent read their TOS
and there are many other options, like hosting yourself

and google should be loud and clear - as everyone else should. you’re not wanted here.

OTOH - watch - just watch this get used as a reverse cake bakery thing

and one more:

“Trump hits 34%” doesn’t convey the full story. It’s “Trump somehow hits 34% without a recession, a military disaster, a gas crisis, etc”

its just that he and his team are really really bad at this.
with each new thing, they find the way to handle it absolutely wrong

you’d think one of them would have just binge watched the west wing by now

As I said below, this is just the latest step in the Trump Tango. First step, Trump shows his white nationalist base he has their backs. Second step, a few days later is a grudging walkback to give Republicans some political cover. He’s done it again and again.

These fuckers get to rent rooms from various hotels/motels. The hotels/motels should tell these Nazis to take it to a street corner. They have every right to spew their hatred. Businesses also have the right to not associate with these dregs of humanity and give them a platform (whether it’s hosting their hate sessions, conferences, or online presence). This isn’t government involved here. It’s simply doing the right and moral thing - not giving Nazis a fucking platform to spread their hate.

Not to quibble, but there’s no proof Yamamoto ever said that. IIRC, it was another IJN Grand Admiral who said something similar in nature.

That being said, it’s been noted by Japanese WWII vets and historians that the misquote was very likely an accurate reflection of Yamamoto’s thoughts in the wake of the Pearl Harbor attack, especially once the Japanese realized they failed to take out the carriers of the USN Pacific Fleet.

At any rate, one of the worst political and military miscalculations of the Twentieth Century.

Fair enough, and like I said, Yamamoto most likely had that sentiment pass through his mind, even if he never articulated it. As I recall, he was Japan’s Naval Attache at their Embassy in D.C. in the 1920’s, I think. He understood Americans pretty well, I’d say.

There is one quote that definitely was from Yamamoto regarding the aftermath of Pearl Harbor: “A military man can scarcely pride himself on having “smitten a sleeping enemy”; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack.”

Trump is emotionally unfit to be President.

“…Trump’s resistance appears rooted in part in an instinctual sense that so doing would constitute some form of capitulation. In his remarks, Trump repeated the phrase “on many sides” in a pointed tone, as if to signal that he will not be bullied by any objection to his false equivalence or any pressure to single out anti-black racism.”

…….

“…It is likely that Trump views this whole affair as being all about him — that is, as all about whether he will surrender to his foes. He seems incapable of grasping that amid such crises, his office carries with it certain very grave responsibilities to the American people.”

One of the jobs of the President is to be the moral voice of the nation when there are events like mass shootings and terror attacks. Trump has repeatedly shown that he is incapable of this basic task - especially if the terror attack or violence isn’t connected to radical Islamic terrorism (his formulation and that of his cronies).

In fact, his admin would ignore these terror attacks and violence, because they are inconvenient facts that get in the way of his anti-immigrant, anti-minority views and their white supremacist policies.

To recap:

Trump ran a scam school (called Trump University) that wasn’t accreditted and was put out of business and forced to settled with students for $25 million.

Jane Sanders headed up a college in Vermont that went belly up among financial shenanigans, and it appears they may have attempted to scam a bank into thinking that they had more assets available to secure a $10 million loan than then actually had.

But Clinton was the real criminal because her charitable foundation did good work all around the world and got top marks from charity watchdog groups, but it might have taken some funds from the Saudis. Or that she spoke to Goldman Sachs.

No, the real Donald Trump was the one we saw on Saturday when he decided to condemn violence “on many sides” in response to the deliberately provocative and intentionally violent neo-Nazi march in Charlottesville, Virginia; when he decided to refer to the events as “sad” in tweets; when he wished “best regards” to those injured by the car that was deliberately smashed into them, killing 1 and injuring 20. When he acted in that way, he was operating according to his instinct. And his instinct said: Do not attack the white supremacists.

And just to dispel any notion that rage furby and SMOTI made an innocent mistake when they doxxed the wrong guy:

The Ohio license plate number seen in photographs taken by the Daily Progress of Charlottesville tracks to a vehicle identification number of a 2010 Dodge Challenger last registered in Maumee, Ohio. Documents show Fields has a residence in Maumee.

A Carfax report shows the vehicle was purchased by its latest owner in June 2015 from Kerry Toyota in Florence, Ky. The title for the vehicle was updated the next month in Maumee.

The vehicle was not listed as stolen by the National insurance Crime Bureau as of Saturday afternoon. The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles also lists the vehicle as registered out of Lucas County, where Maumee is located.

With all that info pretty easily available, it’s a total mystery how furby came up with the kid from Michigan instead.

Well, here’s the most depressing thing you’ll read today…

Trump’s rise was predicated on denial: that he’d lose the primary, that he’d lose the general election, that his autocratic ambitions would be curtailed by our systems of checks and balances. It all happened anyway. It is time for the GOP and others wielding power to accept that with Trump, the worst-case scenario is the most likely scenario. It took the GOP two years to staunchly condemn Trump’s embrace of neo-nazis. When it comes to nuclear weapons, there is no such luxury of time.

Yes, There Were Black Confederates. Here’s Why

“…Douglass corroborated Johnson’s story. He published in the March 1862 issue of Douglass’ Monthly a brief autobiography of John Parker, one of the black Confederates at Manassas. A Virginia slave, Parker was sent to Richmond to build batteries and breastworks. After completing this job, he and his fellow slaves were ordered to Manassas “to fight,” as he said. He was put in an artillery unit with three other black men. On Sunday, July 21, “we opened fire about 10:00 in the morning; couldn’t see the Yankees at all and only fired at random.”

During the battle, Parker said, he worried about dying, hoped for a Union victory and thought of fleeing to the Union side. “We wished to our hearts that the Yankees would whip us. … We would have run over to the other side but our officers would have shot us if we had made the attempt.” He and his fellow slaves had been promised their freedom “and money besides” if they fought. “None of us believed them; we only fought because we had to.”

Clearly, a missile HITTING Guam means war. But a missile landing near Guam becomes an issue taken to Trump. /3

Mattis: “You can’t make all the decisions in advance. There are a host of things going on.” Cites need to consult allies. /4

North Dakota father disowns son who participated in Charlottesville white nationalist rally

A North Dakota father is denouncing his son and slamming his “vile, hateful and racist” actions after he traveled to Charlottesville to attend a “Unite the Right” rally over the weekend.

Pearce Tefft, of Fargo, penned an open letter to Pete Tefft, who calls himself a “pro-white activist” on Twitter, begging him to renounce his stance.

“I, along with all of his siblings and his entire family, wish to loudly repudiate my son’s vile, hateful and racist rhetoric and actions,” Pearce wrote in a letter posted on Inforum. “We do not know specifically where he learned these beliefs. He did not learn them at home.”

Pearce said it was causing his family “heartbreak and distress” that Pete had decided to unlearn what he’s been taught and spew hate.

Curt Schilling, a big-game righty who had dominant stints for the Phillies, D-backs and Red Sox, saw his Hall of Fame support dip slightly in his fifth year on the ballot.

With 199 votes, Schilling was listed on 45 percent of the ballots by eligible members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. A player needs 75 percent of the votes to become a Hall of Famer. Schilling finished with the 10th-most votes on this year’s ballot.

I’d say congratulations are in order.

Simone Askew marched into history Monday as the first black woman to lead the Long Grey Line at the U.S. Military Academy.

After an early morning 12-mile march back to the grey stone academic complex with 1,200 new cadets she led through the rigors of basic training at “Beast Barracks,” the 20-year-old international history major from Fairfax, Virginia, assumed duties as first captain of the 4,400-member Corps of Cadets. That’s the highest position in the cadet chain of command at West Point.

“It’s humbling, but also exciting as I step into this new opportunity to lead the corps to greatness with my teammates with me,” a beaming Askew, still in camouflage fatigues from her march, told reporters.

As first captain, Askew is responsible for the overall performance of the Corps of Cadets. Her duties also include implementing a class agenda and acting as a liaison between the cadets and the administration.

“Simone truly exemplifies our values of Duty, Honor, Country,” said Brig. Gen. Steven W. Gilland, commandant of cadets.

“I can’t believe this has happened in my lifetime,” said Pat Locke, one of two African American women in the first class of women to graduate from West Point in 1980. “When I entered the Academy in 1976, the men did not want us there. Now 40 years later, everybody recognizes the talent and skills women bring to the game.”

Masonry today isn’t anywhere near as big as it was earlier in the XXth Century. It’s still around, and the Masons have been trying their best to increase their membership, but I think a lot of younger people see them as a club of old fuddy-duddies.

My Dad is a Mason. Yeah, he’s old.

re: #270 Myron Falwell

Did that happen after they became the No Homers Club?

Heh.

Their membership has been declining for quite some time - it’s nowhere near their peak, but I’ve heard that they have had some modest success in attracting new members, which is good.

I really don’t get all the conspiracy theories regarding the Masons; if it’s such a super-secret conspiratorial elite, ruling the destinies of nations, then why can you find them in the Yellow Pages?

THE END

I can recall about 25 years ago the first time I encountered the stubborn denial of reality that we’re seeing run so rampant today. It was regarding Freemasonry and the fact the George Washington was perhaps the famous Mason in American history.

And yet the young woman I was arguing this point with absolutely and stubbornly refused to admit this, despite the fact that this is openly known. Yet she adamantly refused to accept this fact. She was of the view that the Masons are a Satanic group and she simply couldn’t - and wouldn’t - believe that George Washington was a member.

Now granted, Washington wasn’t some super-duper Mason - he rarely attended Lodge meetings but he was, in fact, a Mason.

Paris GUD chief Logan Djian, who sports a tattoo of the SS Charlemagne division, was jailed for bloodying a rival in a violent, humiliating confrontation that was posted in a video online. He has relocated to Lyon.

The far-larger identity movement is known for holding sausage-and-wine street fetes — items forbidden to Muslims — famously organized a “march of pigs” in Lyon in 2011 and once occupied a mosque’s roof in Poitiers, where invading Muslim armies were stopped in the 8th century.

There is an ideological compatibility between the National Front and the identity movement, said Sylvain Crepon, a leading far-right expert. Le Pen must show party members that she remains an anti-establishment figure even as she runs for the French presidency.

Dan Brown’s BS notwithstanding: I remember seeing in a history book when I was a kid, an etching of the dedication of the Capitol cornerstone in 17-whenever, prominently featuring George Washington standing by in his Masonic apron. For all the woo-woo attached to Freemasonry, back in Washington’s day it was considered something of a mark of independent thinking, vs. the “superstition” of standard religion. And I’m not sure the General would have been quite so Virginia-gentlemanly towards anyone who would have accused him of “Satanism” to his face….

Very true.

But they can’t ignore the moment when a member of the NF publishes a blog post defending Anders Breivik and comparing him to Charles Martel. At least they suspended him, but only because it made them look like shit.

This is what I’m referring to:

Jacques Coutela, who stood as an FN candidate in local elections in March, “was suspended today pending a party disciplinary committee”, FN general secretary Steeve Briois said, describing Mr Coutela as a low-level party member.
On his blog, where he rails against the rise of Islam in Europe, Mr Coutela presents Breivik - the man who has claimed the twin attacks in Norway that killed 76 people - as an “icon” and “the main defender of the West”.

Mr Coutela also compares Breivik to Charles Martel, the seventh century military leader who halted Islamic expansion in western Europe.

“The reason for the Norway terror attacks: fighting the Muslim invasion, that’s what people don’t want you to know”, read the post, signed Jacques Coutela read.

Mr Coutela took down the posting after the French Movement against Racism and for Friendship between Peoples lodged a complaint against him for “inciting racial hatred”, and on Tuesday denied having written it himself.

It’s not going to happen in your lifetime.

Man, I hate this fucking guy. I really do. He’s a goddamned monster.

I thought I hated Bush and Bush deserved the scorn he got but in the end, I appreciate that he did want to be President of all of us.

He wouldn’t know ‘truly bad people’ if he stuffed offices full of them and they all kissed his butt.

Wait a sec: isn’t that exactly what Trump has done?

No, it’s not. Maybe in my niece or her children’s. This all goes back to a certain party base that couldn’t accept the election of a black man as President and I will never forgive the GOP for enabling that.

Yep. And he thinks Jim Acosta is ‘truly bad people’. Not Bannon and Miller and so on.

No, just pointing again that out that nothing Trump does is going to shift them, unless he keeps criticizing Nazis.

Which only serves as confirmation that Nazis and Republicans are not mutually exclusive groups.

Trump’s changed this country for the worse in a way I haven’t seen since the assassinations in the 1960s plus the Vietnam war.

That took over a decade. Trump has done it in eight months.

HappyWarrior  Aug 14, 2017 • 3:42:20pm

I hate what Trump has dons to our country. We’ve never been the Exceptionalism but this was a country who in many ways did positively lead by example and have leaders that the rest of the world liked and respected.

True, but Bush had 8 years and Trump is just getting started. At this point in the Bush administration, there was still no war, let alone 2 of them.

I fear it’s only going to get worse if he starts to feel his power is threatened should midterms go well.

Not unless he decides to unleash an atomic weapon on North Korea.

Or use the threat of using nuclear weapons as extortion to scare everyone into submission.

We told ourselves it couldn’t happen here since we beat those Nazis but then we had returning black servicemen lynched. Just imagine. You survived the Pacific Theater, perhaps the European one, or the Atlantic Convoys. TBH I don’t blame black Americans for having a skeptical view of our country and its power structures since those power structures talked about equality under the law and then treated them no different than many people we have liberated or claimed to be.

True, but Bush had 8 years and Trump is just getting started. At this point in the Bush administration, there was still no war, let alone 2 of them.

Bush used 9/11 as a sorta Reichstag Fire to start the aimless wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and he had the capability to get people united behind him.

Trump really can’t get into a war without inflaming half the country who doesn’t want it. And his consistent gracelessness and carelessness will not be any sort of unifying tool.

The country is more likely to be torn apart from the rampant distrust between each other.

all his scams involved conning marks
at least half this country will not be conned

further he cant get what he wants done just by declaring it and yelling at his staff to produce it
