Video: Trump’s Absolutely Horrific Press Conference on #Charlottesville

Politics • Views: 37,452

YouTube

I’m at a loss for words to describe the awfulness of this press conference today by Donald Trump. He is literally defending the neo-Nazis who marched and rioted in Charlottesville. Watch for yourself if you can stand it.

Even journalists who usually try to remain detached and impartial on Twitter are reacting with horror to this one.

A defiant President Trump laid some of the blame for the violence in Charlottesville with alt-left groups along with white nationalist groups as he defended the statements he made in the wake of the violence.

UPDATE at 8/15/17 2:17:27 pm by Charles Johnson

Trump’s statements didn’t horrify everyone, though.

The only certainty in life is that Donald J. Trump is not to blame for anything. In fact, he is the sole source of all our prosperity and welfare.

There is Papal Infallibility and then there is Donald J. Trump infallibility. The only difference is, the Pope is only infallible when speaking ex cathedra. Donald J. Trump is infallible all the time, everywhere.

It is absolutely imperative that Congress now do the right thing now that we all know we have a full-fledged Nazi sympathizer occupying our White House.

1. Impeach.

2. Remove

3. Try in court for Obstruction of Justice, Emoluments violations, Conspiracy, and Treason.

4. Throw in prison for the rest of his miserable life.

I hope Trump enjoys the kudos from Duke, because that’s about as good as this is going to get.

We still don’t have all the facts. Who really knows what motivated the tiki torchers? But I do have all the facts on Benghazi! and on all the murders committed by illegal immigrants and I have all the facts on the three million fraudulent illegal voters for Hitlery.

He bragged about her saying “very nice things” about him, which he could not be bothered to remember or quote directly.

The mother of the 32-year-old woman who was killed Saturday in a car-ramming attack during violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, has thanked President Trump for offering words of comfort and condemning the violence.

“Thank you, President Trump, for those words of comfort and for denouncing those who promote violence and hatred,” Susan Bro, mother of Heather Heyer, said in a statement shortly after Mr. Trump belatedly called out white supremacists and other hate groups during a press conference Monday afternoon.

“My condolences, also, to the grieving families of the two state troopers and quick recovery for those injured,” Ms. Bro said.

Meat the Chuck Daily had Boston Mayor Marty Walsh on and he said he is setting some pretty tough limits on the alt-right rally that is planned for Boston this weekend. No signs. No sticks. No open carry guns, etc.

He even said no sound as far as big PA systems, he doesn’t want hate speech heard by his residents that don’t want to hear it.

He said if they don’t hold to them, they will be carted off. I think he is hoping his limits limit the participants.

He really doesn’t want them, but it sounds like he will clamp down fast and hard the moment it gets confrontational.

I read a post on “The Daily Beast” site that mentioned some of its journalists contacted the WH to ask if Trump would go to Charlottesville. WH aides’ response was, “Why in the hell would he go there?” TDB also reported that the aides strongly hinted that the reason Trump wouldn’t be going to C’Ville is because he cannot be trusted to not say the wrong thing. His comments today show that he will almost always say the wrong thing. I’d seen a tweet less than an hour ago by Robert Costa that said WH aides told him that Trump was very upset after he was still being criticized for delay in condemning white supremacy/ists. This made it imperative that he come out today and say something else stupid. He cannot help himself. His best move would have been to not say another thing, but noooooo, he had to come out and try to justify his support for alt-righters, KKK members, Nazis, and white supremacists with a BS history lesson and ended up f*cking himself in his own *ss for the second day in a row. What better way to make a fool of himself than to try to link former presidents owning slaves to the violence he witnessed that ended with the death of Heather Heyer and the injuries of almost 20 counter-protesters last weekend? There are hundreds of years between when slavery was practiced in America in the 18th and 19th Centuries and the 21st Century. I am so tired of this sick f*ck.

Today’s presser is an absolute and indisputable admission that Trump is a white supremacist. He removed all doubt about his feelings on the matter, and his goals/intentions.

For those of us who have been following him closely all along, this isn’t new. It shouldn’t be for anyone else for that matter too. There were warning signs from day one of the campaign. There were repeated outbursts by Trump and repeated statements identifying Trump as a bigot, misogynist, and a white supremacist.

McConnell is so far MIA on a response to Trump’s admission that he’s a white supremacist.

Ryan is claiming to take a harsh stand now, but that’s just more bullshit too. He refused to take a hard line during the campaign when it mattered. He didn’t want to discourage his base. He still doesn’t. The GOP owns this shit show because they’re the ones enabling Trump because they ultimately agree with Trump’s policies and goals.

This is the party that has no problem suppressing minority voting rights.
This is the party pushing to limit immigration (legal and illegal).
This is the party pushing for imposing their religious views on others - a christian theological view that suppresses all other views.

This is the GOP. Trump is just the most overt and public admission that the GOP position is based on bigotry and hate.

So no, I don’t expect anyone in the GOP to call for impeachment based on this. They are a bunch of craven cowards who continue to prioritize tax cuts over all else, and are busy sabotaging functioning govt, including protecting civil and voting rights of minorities, so that the GOP can stay in power.

The GOP spent years obstructing the black guy in the WH because they couldn’t stand that his agenda was expanding health coverage and civil rights to more minority groups explicitly. The white supremacists in the GOP’s midst couldn’t tolerate any of this, because they think their own power wanes as others gain the same rights they’ve had all along.

The GOP is now more intent on defending Confederate flags and statues to insurrectionists than they are in protecting civil and voting rights.

Fuck the GOP and all those who purport to be members of the GOP. You own this - all of this.

The GOP are caught in a Catch-22 situation going forward. The only way to keep the base happy and avoid an electoral slaughter next year is for Trump to resign voluntarily. But he won’t resign voluntarily unless he feels he’ll be removed involuntarily, which will turn the base against the party and lead to an electoral slaughter.

It can be seriously argued that as chattel property, she couldn’t consent and she couldn’t refuse and she was sexually assaulted. Problem for the GOP on tax cuts is the schedule they’ve set is wildly optimistic. They have less than two weeks to pass a debt ceiling increase, which will be contentious. Then if they want to pass tax cuts on a partisan basis, they need a budget passed so they can use reconciliation again. They want a bill passed by November, yet they don’t even have the broad outlines of one, let alone a budget that can pass a party-line vote.

Its beautiful having watched them waste so much time failing to repeal the ACA that they are going to run out of time to give a massive tax cut to billionaires.

Well, they told themselves that passing “repeal and replace” would be awesomely simple, they’d done it dozens of times before. But the problem they immediately ran into is they’d only ever passed repeal bills, and those were A) with larger majorities and B) bills that would never be signed into law. That became evident once the stories about “moderates” being talked into walking the plank on the empty promise that a “better” bill would be negotiated later started showing up.

My prediction is the GOP will immediately take up a clean debt ceiling bill after they come back, then get it passed quickly by making promises to the wingnuts that they’ll get a larger say in the budget/tax cut bills. The “moderates” will again find themselves being told that they have to lie back and think of Wall St as the bills are written up by the “Freedom Caucus” crowd.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reviewed plans to fire missiles towards the US Pacific territory of Guam but will hold off, state media said.

Although prepared for “the enveloping fire at Guam”, the North said it would watch what “the foolish Yankees” do before taking a decision.

Message Subject: Impeachment Of the Nazi Infesting the White House

Message Text:

With the comments in defense of the Nazi Murderers in Charlottesville , our incompetent president has gone much too far and crossed the line to treason. Even his sycophants at Faux News are disgusted. It is time for the GOP to do one of three things: Impeach the president for his multiple crimes or the be voted out of office en-mass so that real, decent Americans can take office and impeach him and the rest of his white supremacist cronies. Your final option is to convince the cabinet to perform their constitutional duty under the 25th Amendment. But you can not allow him to continue to destroy the nation in the fantasy of unsustainable tax cuts. We can not afford for either this illegitimate Alzheimer’s patient to start a war to make his Nazi handlers - Gorka, Miller, Bannon - happy and we can not afford his pretense of a legislative policy to go forward. Do your duty or we will vote for people that will - it really is that simple if you are an American yourself and not just another Nazi like our so-called president.

Since the weekend’s violent protests in Charlottesville, VA, many have criticized President Trump for his failure to outright condemn the white supremacists involved. The Onion breaks down Trump’s relationship to this powerful hate group.

Q: What evidence is there that Trump has ties to white supremacy groups?
A: The president maintains a 36 percent approval rating.

Q: Why has Trump’s response to these demonstrations angered the public?
A: Americans demand much subtler displays of racism from their elected officials.

Q: What has the president done to distance himself from white nationalism?
A: Married a Slovenian woman, thereby diluting his pure Anglo-Aryan lineage with the blood of a lesser Slav.

Q: Doesn’t Trump appointee Jeff Sessions have ties to right-wing extremist groups?
A: You’re probably thinking of Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, or Sebastian Gorka.

Q: What is his position on monuments memorializing Civil War veterans?
A: Trump has been consistently in favor of Confederate statues despite a historical antipathy toward losers.

Q: Were there any signs during his presidential campaign that Trump might embrace white nationalism?
A: None come to mind.

Last night I watched “Julia” on TCM. First time since it originally came out. Remember the scene where the nazi mob invades the hospital where she works in Vienna, attacking the “Jew” doctors and nurses, throwing a patient to his death over a balcony? Then against these thirty or forty thugs here comes one doctor brandishing a chair, Julia with a table leg, and a couple of other staffers with not much at all. They tie into the nazis, for about five seconds, and Julia ends up beaten and stomped so badly that she loses a leg.

Now I understand that there was blame on many sides.
