Sick Right-Wing Trolls Delight in Interfering With Mexico City Rescue Efforts

Twitter does nothing as trolls actually cost human lives
LGF • Views: 52,401

Let me say this again, in case the subtitle is lost: right-wing trolls are causing human victims of the quake in Mexico City to die.

They are posting the names of liberals and activists as “trapped and needing help,” diverting rescuers from saving children stuck under the rubble of collapsed buildings.

They are urging people to get out in the streets and block emergency earthmoving equipment, by trying to spread rumors via WhatsApp that the heavy equipment is meant to crush and kill poor people.

They are whipping people into hysteria over the “threat” of looters.

As the devastating earthquake trapped untold hundreds of people and their pets under tons of rubble, some on social media alleged the Mexican government was “sending in heavy machinery to kill poor people,” encouraging fellow trolls and social media users to block ambulances and rescue equipment, as rescue crews encouraged city residents to do the exact opposite—clear the roads to allow ambulances to get through.

As initial news reports and social media users in certain neighborhoods of Mexico City and Puebla warned that some had begun to take advantage of the chaos to steal and loot, and rob pedestrians or vehicles held up in bottleneck traffic, there were the trolls—the same ones who so often glom onto disasters and human rights crises in Mexico to spread misinformation and hatred with zero repercussions. They were encouraging their followers to go out and “let the looting begin.”

“If you see me, say hello … I’m on my way to the looting, sons of bitches,” wrote one Mexican troll, uploading an image of a man in a car, holding a pistol.

“I hope a lot of people die in the #sismo … especially the poor,” wrote one long-time Twitter nuisance, who had one account briefly suspended earlier this week after threatening to rape several female Twitter users in response to the national outrage over the murder of 19-year-old Mara Castilla—a young woman who was abducted, taken to a hotel, and then found dead and wrapped in a sheet last week after using the Cabify ride-share app.

Twitter responded with a slap on the wrist, by freezing that account for seven days. But like most of Mexico’s trolls, adept at the art of sockpuppetry—using multiple accounts for the purpose of deception—it hardly mattered, as he switched to his backup accounts to spread misinformation and lies about the earthquake.

Mueller Seeks White House Documents Related to Trump’s Actions as President

One of the requests is about a meeting Mr. Trump had in May with Russian officials in the Oval Office the day after James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, was fired. That day, Mr. Trump met with the Russian foreign minister, Sergey V. Lavrov, and the Russian ambassador to the United States at the time, Sergey I. Kislyak, along with other Russian officials. The New York Times reported that in the meeting Mr. Trump had said that firing Mr. Comey relieved “great pressure” on him.

In a sane world, Mueller informs Congress that the president is hindering an investigation and they impeach and remove him from office. In this world? Where cowards like Paul Ryan hold power? Probably a few op-eds decrying the debasing of the presidency, a few members of the Democratic caucuses on the Sunday shows pointing out that this is a shame and that Bill Clinton was impeached for far less, and then Trump plays golf with Putin.

re: #4 Charles Johnson

These are Trump supporters.

The tweets included in the OP, yes, but the trolls described in the blockquoted section (taken, as I said above, from this Daily Beast article) appear to be from Mexico rather than the US. I think it’s important to make the distinction clear, otherwise LGF opens itself up to accusations of doing…what right-wing sites do with impunity -_-

Again, two types of trolls appear to be in operation here:

1) the trumpchumps engaged in gloating and misrepresentation (e.g. the idiotic and false accusations against Jennifer Lawrence, when all she said was that you need to vote if you want to see action on climate change)

2) trolls from Mexico itself who are actively interfering with rescue efforts and endangering lives. But again, I’m going by what the Daily Beast article says/implies; if there are American or Russian trolls doing the same thing, that certainly needs to be called out with the requisite evidence.

I am still holding out hope that the GOP leadership will recognize at some point either that Trump is a clear and present danger to the republic, or at the very least that he’s a clear and present danger to the Republican Party. I don’t know when that realization comes, but I still believe it will.

37
Stanley Sea  Sep 20, 2017 • 2:33:10pm

The 2 hour delay

Remember, Trump spent the weekend at Bedminster fuming about Comey and returned to Washington with his decision made. But the key in my mind has always been who was with him on Air Force that evening. Trump has two broad classes of advisors. The toady enablers and the semi-grown-ups. You may not like White House Counsel Don McGahn. But he’s actually tried to stop Trump from doing a lot of stupid things. Even Steve Bannon - Steve Bannon!! - tried to convince Trump not to fire Comey. But there’s that other class: the 7th tier toadies and lickspittles and enablers who cheer on Trump’s worst tendencies. That weekend and on that plane ride home, he had the all star class of Trump toadies: Hope Hicks, Jared Kushner, KT McFarland, Stephen Miller and Dan Scavino. The worst and the stupidest.

I then explained to him that if Graham-Cassidy passes premiums would go up for all of us, even people with employer coverage as well as Insurers covering less across the board. He called me a liar and said all that would happen is poor people wouldn’t be able to pay for coverage anymore, which again, he doesn’t care about.

No matter what I tried he remained convinced his employer coverage would guarantee him no premium spikes and no denial of claims.

Afterwards, I questioned why my friend hung out with this other guy. Apparently they are old college buddies.

A friend who did some modeling during her teen years told me a few things that I’d never thought of. One of them was that teenage girls generally have rounder, fuller faces than modeling requires, but their skin is also more free of lines, etc. so they agencies want them fairly young. SO, the girls who get into modeling at a young age will generally be the ones who have less ‘baby fat’ as teens.

The thing is, a normal, more rounded teenage face thins as women age, which is part of a more mature look. So, if you ALREADY have that more mature look, when you reach the age where other women look mature, your face looks gaunt and bony.

Gotta watch that Graham Cassidy wiggle room and deceptive words.

Technically it is my understanding it does allow pre-existing conditions.

It just costs too much to afford the coverage of those conditions. So you won’t be denied if you can pay.

We have to remember we are dealing with a con man very good at knowing he is truthfully lying if you know what I mean.

Same as Graham and Cassidy. They are all lying as much as they have ever done. Actually going over the top this time. It is a full on rush at seeing how far they can go.

Obviously they think they can get away with it.

The big question/answer is will America allow it? Or if we do allow it, what will the backlash be when the reality hits?

This particular assclown seems to be a RWNJ masquerading as a ditz to push a both-sides narrative.

There are a lot of young white people who’ve been raised with the idea that “white” is just another race, and that assumption is easily exploitable to create a narrative in which reverse racism is a thing.

It’s used to deflect attention from how “white” is a set with intentionally-changing contents, that only exists to be the in-group, the “normal,” against which all the other races are considered wanting or stigmatized.

Grand-scale whataboutism.

When I first asked her about GoFundMe she was hesitant and said she didn’t like to ask for help. I think me doing it was kinda sorta ok.

Plus, I just talked to her. I didn’t mince words or avoid the subject. I think many people do because they just don’t know how to act. I know that’s true with cancer patients. It’s like people think they can get infected with the cancer.

Bill Cassidy is a pathological liar, a crawling opportunist, and a pustular excrescence on the butt of the nation and the poor state that through its profound ignorance inflicted him on the others.

His Senate campaign hinged on the Ebola “outbreak” in a Texas hospital, wherein the original patient, a traveler from Africa, died and two nurses were infected (both are alive and well today). Cassidy continually blamed Obama, the head of the CDC, and others, and predicted tens of thousands of deaths in Louisiana, inspiring widespread public panic and a desire for a “doctor” like himself to save us all. Of course, the whole incident turned out to be practically a textbook example of how to handle a communicable disease with minimum casualties, but by then the election was over.

In short, fuck that slimy SOB.

There are organizations that specialize in Peds Cardiology issues. My friend Ashley birthed a daughter with a hypoplastic heart disorder. She is a shaker and mover in the Texas Chapter of the Childrens Heart Foundation.

PO. Box 5275 Round Rock, TX 78683 chftx@childrensheartfoundation.org

Another example of Jeff Sessions assault on voting rights: US citizens who moved to some federal territories sued for the right to vote absentee in their old states because those who moved to the Northern Mariana Islands get to vote absentee, so that violates equal protection. The Sessions DOJ is now arguing that the “remedy” is to deny absentee voting rights to those who moved to the Northern Mariana Islands, rather than extending absentee voting right to those who move to other federal territories. Why extend voting rights when you can restrict them instead!

It all seems like he struggles to me. Off ‘prompter he is a jumbled mess, granted. But, when he reads from it, he is slow, wooden and shown to not know the words so he struggles.

Plus, does he even know what those words mean? It almost seems as if he just reads with zero understanding.

They’re so proud of them they’re a featured article in the alumni magazine. The school isn’t doing it as a favor to those kids; the admin and a couple department chairs felt it would benefit everybody else’s education to have them in their dorms and classes and study groups.

I don’t really think ObserverArt was saying Kasich is a good guy. He was saying he’s a good politician, in that he does an excellent job of making himself appear moderate while still working in line with all the “values” of the Republican party.

re: #238 Barefoot Grin

To be honest, I have long since stopped watching anything Trump does. If he comes on TV I mute or change channels. I can barely watch “sassy” Trump because I cannot fucking stand his hand gestures (had the same problem with Bill Clinton, actually). It has been a long time since I’ve seen evidence either way of whether he effectively tele prompt. I will not know.

I had my computer muted when I came across a video of Trump speaking to the Air Force the other day. His mannerisms are almost robotic. He turns his entire upper body when he addresses one side of the room and then the other, never to the center and never just by turning his head. My son remarked that Trump maybe can’t turn his head for some reason. Either way, his upper body looks stiff, like someone wearing a back brace.

Then, there’s the hand gestures. He has a limited repertoire: the OK signs, the slices in front of him, the palms up at shoulder height. Again, it’s like watching an animatronic figure at Disneyland, but closer to the uncanny valley of robotics.

Like you, I find watching him disturbing. If I were still teaching public speaking, I’d use his mannerisms as an example of what not to do.

Former Fox News host? Fuck that guy.

You may be missing my point. He is a lot more than a Fox News guy. He has had a long career in politics. He was the only one that stood up to Trump in the primaries. And he can speak to the common person and seem down to earth and realistic. He is a good politician.

I do not like him either, but he is the Governor of this state I live in. So, I pay attention.

But the real point is he could well run in 2020 and give any Democrat a good run due to the things he is doling right now like this interview. And he can beat Trump in a primary.

That means he is dangerous and not to ignore.

Thank you. I feel bad this girl had to give up her dog. She loves that dog. He was with her through five miscarriages before her second daughter was born.

Her family has had more sorrows in six months than I have in my lifetime. And this all happened when I was feeling oh-so-sorry for myself when I hurt my knee. The universe put this girl in my sights. I’m almost never on Facebook (I hate it). I just happened to see the post for the dog. It all just happened when I was pity-partying…something I almost never do. The universe was telling me to buck up. So I did.
