What Is Wrong With This Guy? Now Trump Is Challenging Rex Tillerson to Compare IQ Tests With Him

A thin-skinned narcissist with a big mouth and no filters
Politics • Views: 33,979

Every day brings another indication that Donald Trump is unfit for the office of the presidency — and for that matter, unfit to interact with other human beings in general. Seriously, this guy has very real issues: Trump proposes ‘IQ tests’ faceoff with Tillerson after secretary of state calls him a ‘moron’.

President Trump proposed an “IQ tests” faceoff with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson after the nation’s top diplomat reportedly called the president a “moron” and disparaged his grasp on foreign policy.

In an interview with Forbes magazine published Tuesday, Trump fired a shot at Tillerson over the “moron” revelation, first reported by NBC News and confirmed by several other news organizations, including The Washington Post.

“I think it’s fake news,” Trump said, “but if he did that, I guess we’ll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win.”

Does he even realize that by reacting like this, he’s basically confirming the NBC News “moron” report?

And then, he followed up by saying he “doesn’t believe in undercutting people,” when he undercuts everyone he works with.

Trump plans to meet for lunch Tuesday with Tillerson and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis in the president’s private dining room at the White House. Shortly before the lunch, a reporter asked Trump whether he had undercut Tillerson with his comments to Forbes.

“No, I didn’t undercut anybody. I don’t believe in undercutting people,” Trump said during a brief media appearance in the Oval Office, as he sat beside former secretary of state Henry Kissinger during a meeting to discuss foreign affairs.

How long is America going to let this dangerous clown show continue?

I’m not really following the Weinstein thing more than I have to, but this from Chris Hayes after reading the new Ronan Farrow piece seemed to capture an important aspect:

Because it’s not about having sex with a number of different women for variety. It’s about power and subjugation and “because I can”.

As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. — HL Mencken

Have we ever seen a public figure that is so self-unaware?

it all goes together and it is all so Trump.

What still amazes me is his own kids and wife allow him to do this to himself. Either they can’t stop it or they too suffer from the same lack of awareness.

It freaking boggles the mind (of anyone that is normal).

Trump’s IQ challenge reminds me of the story from the “Bronx Zoo” days of the NY Yankees. In the locker room one day Reggie Jackson was bragging of having an IQ of 160. Mickey Rivers, overhearing, yelled, “Out of what? A thousand?”

Well, IQ’s scores change over the course of your life. I learned over the years that almost everyone has intelligence in a certain area of life. The guy who cuts my grass knows fa more about plants and stuff then I do.

So called intelligent people (or people with high IQ’s) have many many gaps in their knowledge and intelligence. I am sure I can code better the Neil deGrasse Tyson.

That is not saying I couldn’t learn about grass and stuff and Neil couldn’t learn to code circles around me.

Oh and then there is judgement which is far more important anyway.

It doesn’t, but it does make a person go insane if they play different numbers and their regular numbers win. Once you’ve locked into particular numbers, you’re trapped.

She didn’t really believe me when i told her that 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 was as likely to win as any other combination. In most minds, ‘random’ = ‘evenly distributed’.

Yup.

Back in the Corps, one of my commands paid to have a speaker come in and talk to us about diversity. My buddies and I learned about one of the exercises she conducted, so planned ahead. When our section went in, she handed out sheets of paper and told us to fold them, and cut them into snowflakes. Then she asked, “What do you see about them?”

One of the Staff NCOs chimed in, “They’re all different.”

Six of us responded “Ours aren’t. Look.” and showed the identical ones we prepped before the class.

“YOU SIX! COME SEE ME AFTER THIS!”

“Aye Gunny.”

The Birthday Paradox: take any random group of 23 people (or 30, depending on who is doing the math explanation) and there is a 50% chance that two have the same birthday.

There are a lot of folks who delight in elaborately debunking it, but I’ve found it to be fairly accurate through the years.

Right. At a certain point, the rewards of winning can outweigh the almost complete certainty of not winning, if the price is low enough.

I’ve often wondered about punning, because my observation is that most punsters I know make me think ‘Spectrum’. Indeed, in my family the Social Sister is the worst punster (part of why she sees herself as the dumb one).

I read somewhere, probably here, that wordplay is common among those on the spectrum.

This is not true. A guy I dated briefly had a PhD in Math and he won something like $10 million (some years after I knew him.)

The expected value of a lottery ticket is almost always less than its cost.

Winning the lottery is the only conceivable way most people can become rich.

These two observations lead to different lottery strategies.

My grandmother has few traditional vices i.e. never been a drinker, smoker, or really too much for swear words but she will sometimes buy a scratch ticket. I think she thinks, well it’s not too much and the payoff is big. Her sisters though liked going to Atlantic City. I’ve only been gambling once myself. Not really my thing but of how quickly the odds can turn against you but I definitely saw why people get a thrill and rush from it when I went gambling in New Mexico.

You know, it’s interesting how “spectrum” seems to run in your family. I can only think one of person in my family who might be on the specturm. I don’t see it in either of my parents or brothers or the three grandparents I knew.

Well, part of it is understanding the spectrum as running from just past neurotypical all the way to extreme autism. I’m not saying that any of us would be diagnosed per the DSMV (except maybe the youngest sister), but those traits appear in all six of us to a greater or lesser extent.

A colleague, who is a mathematician and a biostatician once said (I paraphrase): The probability of winning the lottery is zero if you don’t play. However, your probability of winning exponentially increases by playing one ticket and you only achieve marginal probabilistic gains by playing two or more tickets. In short, only play one ticket but continue to keep your day job.

That’s me. Maybe once a year, if I’m feeling bruised by the world, I’ll spend a buck on the Lotto. It’s about as cheap a price as you’ll find for a few days of daydreams, and it also gives you a chance to look at yourself in a different light. For instance, if I win, the local no-kill animal shelter can quadruple its facilities and services and never have to solicit donations again. OTOH, I also fantasize about the leverage a hundred million or so would give me in doing things like, oh, I don’t know, maybe taking revenge.

One other piece of Lotto wisdom-and why “my numbers” start with 30 and go up. If any of your numbers are above 31, your odds of having to split the winnings with another player go down dramatically.
Many, many people use birthdays and anniversaries or other dates for their numbers. If you go outside that, your odds of winning remain the same, but the odds of someone else sharing your numbers decrease.

Yeah, it was tough because I wanted to have someone I could point to and go “Well they made it so I’ll be okay.” I’m a rare humanities spectrum dweller too. I like science but my heart is in the humanities. My parents are both introverted I think in their own different ways. I’ve also been realizing that I’m actually probably the most extroverted of my siblings. I was so shocked to see my brother’s in laws and extended family describe him as shy but then I’ve really witnessed him, he is. His daughter though is becoming an extrovert like her mom.

I’ve seen a lot of the NFL players interviewed who have knelt. All of them are better spoken than Trump. Eric Reid, Kaep’s former teammate on the Niners I saw point out in the strongest terms that he respects the military and their sacrifices even brought up that had his mother not been pregnant with him, she would have been deployed in Gulf War I. Reid’s an intelligent guy. He quoted James Baldwin in his NYT op-ed. But of course assholes will call people like him thugs without knowing their story. He’s from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My own great uncle was a Catholic priest for a predominately African-American church in Lafayette.

It was rich white boy’s family who alerted police that he was behaving erratically and MIGHT HAVE A WEAPON. The dead officer’s own gun was found in its holster but the suspect had a gun on him when arrested. It therefore appears that Affluenza Whitey managed somehow to get his own gun into the police station. My prediction: He’ll do 8 or 10 for second degree then spend the rest of his life quietly enjoying his inheritance. If he gets strapped for cash he can hit the fundy church “reformed sinner” circuit and fleece some rubes.

If it had been a poorer white man (student or not) or any POC, they would have had him down on the ground and frisked every inch of him short of giving an anal probe.

A cop wound up dead and many more people wound up in mortal danger while he was loose because the TTPD didn’t do their jobs in securing a suspect properly.

There is no reason to believe Time-Warner has any interest in fighting against Trump. They are to benefit like all corporations from any tax breaks that the GOP/Trump can gin up.

Furthermore, it is clear that TV news consumers tend to be older, which Fox discovered years ago. CNN is simply giving that market what they want and in general the older TV audience wants escapist good news, not hard hitting investigative journalism.

That might be me stereotyping, but I believe it will hold up under scrutiny.

There are very few national news outlets that are not beholden to corporate overlords.

Even NPR tends towards the don’t-rock-the-boat approach.

Because the Right will point to completely irrelevant people on the “left” that mirror the behaviors of their elected officials to point out that ‘both sides do it’ and that the left can’t complain because automatic hypocrites.

Basically because gaslighting is a way of life on the Right.

Because the American media will hammer on about it being the biggest scandal of the year, possibly of all time. What Americans know is defined by their media. They stopped talking about Trump’s sexual scandals months ago, therefore it no longer exists in the public consciousness. Weinstein, on the other hand, could be construed to make Clinton and Obama look bad, therefore it is now the biggest scandal of the year, and will be front page news from now until the next disaster.

Nobody’s talking about Trump. They’re talking about Hillary’s association with Weinstein.

Trump is just untouchable, because the media has made it that way since the primaries.

And the more you try to push back on it, the more the media will simply make it about the Dems while the GOP gets away with fucking everything behind their backs because ‘boys will be boys’ bullshit.

I hate this country. I fucking hate it, mostly because it quite clearly hates me and mine so dearly that it made and entrenches GOP power ad infinitum.

I think many have noticed it, this just clarifies what we all suspected and adds a clinical description to it from someone that studies linguistics. It’s good to get some reinforcement sometimes so we know we aren’t just hating or being picky.

When Trump was younger, his speech patterns were more appropriate to his educational background and age. He wasn’t an Obama, but he could at least speak in entire paragraphs and make sense. Now, he’s regressed to the 12 year old level. Whether it’s a sham or some clinical neurological problem, I can’t say.

Yea, this was my point. I met a lot of smart so called “dumb people”. They always seem to surprise me with their intelligence in various areas. It started out as a humbling experience and then it evolved into a learning moment for me. Intelligence takes many forms and only some of them are measurable.

The term around here is “educated stupid.”
