Trump Denies Telling Soldier’s Widow, ‘He Knew What He Signed Up For’ - Attacks Congresswoman Who Reported It

Politics • Views: 35,253

Donald Trump’s total lack of basic human empathy has gotten him in trouble again. Yesterday, after being shamed for not responding for more than a week to the news of four fallen soldiers in Niger, Trump finally decided to make a call to one of the widows — and reportedly told her, “He knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurts.”

Even with everything we now know about this malignant narcissist, this is still a stunningly awful thing to say to a grieving widow.

And now, instead of trying to reach out and correct the damage somehow, he’s attacking Rep. Frederica Wilson, who was with Sgt. La David T. Johnson’s wife, Myeshia Johnson, when Trump called.

Trump denied Wilson’s claim and said he had a “very nice conversation” with Ms. Johnson “who sounded like a lovely woman”.

“I didn’t say what that congresswoman said, and she knows it. I didn’t say it at all,” Trump told reporters Wednesday at the White House.

And in a statement from the Oval Office he referred to Myeshia Johnson as “the woman.” He just can’t help himself. Check out Trump’s body language in this clip from ABC News.

Iframe

In the video clip above Trump says Rep. Wilson “now is not saying it … and I’d like her to make the statement again.”

Which Rep. Wilson just did, on Twitter.

Sgt. Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, who was in the car when Trump called, is also confirming that Trump made his heartless comments as reported.

After everything this horrible human being has said and done in public, and the thousands of outright lies he’s told since taking office, why would anyone believe his denials now?

Update on Ohio State University and their dealings with Richard Spencer.

Last week OSU told Spencer’s lawyer they will not allow Spencer to speak due to public safety issues. This was an answer to the lawyer threatening to sue the University.

Yesterday Spencer’s lawyer decided to give OSU another chance after OSU said they might try to find other arragements. (Tough stance their guys!)

WOSU Public Media - Ohio State Given New Deadline To Allow Richard Spencer Event

After The Ohio State University said they would look into “alternatives” to allow white nationalist Richard Spencer to speak on campus, Spencer’s lawyer gave the school a new deadline of Friday, Oct. 20 to respond to their requests.

In a letter to Ohio State on Tuesday, Michigan attorney Kyle Bristow said he seeks “an unequivocal and unconditional assertion that Ohio State University will in fact permit my client, Cameron Padgett, to rent a publicly available room on a date to be determined for Richard Spencer to speak.”

Bristow said he will file suit against the university, seeking monetary damages and an injunction, if the school does not meet their deadline.

Padgett, a Georgia State student, contacted both Ohio State and the University of Cincinnati in September, on behalf of the National Policy Institute, about renting space.

University of Cincinnati president Neville G. Pinto announced last Friday that they would “uphold the First Amendment and allow Richard Spencer to speak on campus,” after Bristow threatened to sue earlier in the week.

Ohio State senior vice president Christopher Culley, however, said on Friday the school could not accommodate Bristow’s request “without substantial risk to public safety” but is considering “other alternatives.” Bristow responded that his lawsuit against the school was “on hold.”

Ohio State spokesperson Ben Johnson said on Tuesday that the school’s position has not changed since then.

“The trampling upon the First Amendment by university bureaucrats who have no respect for the right of free speech will in no way be tolerated by Padgett,” wrote Bristow in his letter.

I CL’d the last thread, so here goes:

Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the NYC metro area.

Trump was up early once again trouncing the Constitution, screwing over Gold Star Parents (again; this is a habit with him since he has no clue how sacrifice actually works), and basically lying about everything he does and has done.

I could care less what Ivanka’s musical tastes are (not that I believe it for a moment that she ever had a punk phase). That’s a deflection to keep people from focusing on the fact that she should have been charged for felony fraud on real estate transactions in NYC a few years back along with her brother. It was only a well placed donation by daddy’s lawyer that seems to have ironed out that whole mess.

Speaking of messes, the shitshow in Puerto Rico continues (literally and figurative). 82.3% of the island is still without power more than a month after landfall of Maria, and FEMA said 25% would have power restored. There’s no chance that’s happening, and 25% was insanely low to start. It’s unconscionable how the Admin is handling the disaster response.

Every aspect of it shows him and his admin failing millions of Americans in dire need.

You know who’s actually doing a good job? Former Yankee legend Jorge Posada. He’s actually organized flights to get people who are ill care in Miami and/or reuniting those folks with their relatives here on the mainland.

The US military has logistical capabilities that aren’t getting used. They have the assets to make care available. They can set up mobile hospitals and clinics, as well as ferry people to the USNS Comfort. That they aren’t doing so is a failure of leadership and scope. FEMA and the DoD need to be working in concert, and that seems to have completely collapsed.

Every other natural disaster before Trump seemed to have regular updates on how the DoD was working with FEMA and local authorities to get aid to those in need - whether it was after Katrina or Sandy or any of the other natural disasters requiring federal military assistance, or to disasters overseas (like Indonesia, Thailand, Haiti, or Japan after quakes (and/or tsnuami) hit those countries). Mission sorties, the types of personnel involved, people helped, food and water brought in, etc.

All that is missing. It’s a news vacuum and it’s happening to millions of Americans all because Trump would rather golf than do the job.

Of course, Trump’s supporters think he’s doing exactly what he needs to be doing - which is to fuck up functioning government because who needs disaster relief when you can give estate tax cuts to millionaires and stick everyone else with the bill.

Former GOP Rep. David Jolly: ‘We Might Be Better Off’ If Democrats Win The House

“We have a president who very well might put the nation at risk and this Republican Congress has done nothing to check his power.”

A former Republican lawmaker says the nation might be better off if Democrats win back the House of Representatives in next year’s midterm election to help keep President Donald Trump in check.

David Jolly, who represented a Florida district, called Trump “unstable” and “risky when it comes to matters of national security” in an interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell on Monday night.

He said:

“I personally as a Republican in the past few weeks have wondered, is the republic safer if Democrats take over the House in 2018. I raised that issue with the leading Republican in D.C. last week, and the remarkable thing is he had been thinking exactly the same thing. This is a president that needs a greater check on his power than Republicans in Congress have offered.”

All Trump does is attack those who have made sacrifices to be in the US - whether it’s people who have gotten green cards, or who have been treated something rotten by others once they’ve gotten here.

Trump again attacks Gold Star Families, which shows that his prior behavior wasn’t an aberration. This is who he’s always been. He’s a malignant narcissist and anyone who questions him is attacked by him and his bigot brigade. He especially goes after women who question him and his actions.

If you’re a minority and a woman, then Trump’s attacks are even harsher (if that’s possible).

He can’t help himself, and the GOP will continue enabling this bigot because their agenda is advancing thanks to Trump putting unqualified and extremists into the judiciary to skew the bench for decades to come (Gorsuch was the tip of that Titanic sized iceberg). The implementation of Trumpcare by Executive Order fulfills the GOP goal of destroying health coverage for tens of millions of Americans, and they’re all intent on shifting the blame to Democrats, even though the uninsured rate dropped as a result of Obamacare and health care costs moderated thanks to Obamacare.

GOP lies continue nonstop, and Trump lies about everything he’s done, including contacting families of servicemembers who died in service and what his predecessors did.

It all goes to the fundamental lack of character and judgment that Trump has always displayed but the GOP actively ignored or deflected by equating Trump problems with bullshit concocted about Clinton.

Emails? Looks like Trump’s cronies are the ones with email problems.
Improper contacts? Everyone around Trump had improper contacts.
Sex assault? Yeah, Trump admitted to that too.

Ignore the Constitution? He’s sought to undermine the 1A, 13A, 14A, 15A, and the Constitution itself. All those actions rise in my mind to high crimes and misdeanors but this GOP is craven and wont impeach. They wont 25A Trump either, even though there’s all kinds of evidence that Trump lacks the mental fitness and awareness to be President. Everyone in the WH knows Trump is a tangerine toddler who can’t be trusted on anything, so they treat it as a day care center.

Trump should be permanently retired - to federal prison but that’s not going to happen so long as the GOP is enabling him. And that makes the GOP guilty of violating their own oaths to protect and defend the nation. They too have put party over nation, and now we’re all at risk.

Just ask Puerto Rico how that works.

Did anyone catch the report that McKayla “Not Impressed with Her Score” Marony the USA Gymnast from the 2012 Olympics said she was abused by the US Team doctor.

A lot of bad stuff coming to light. Guys need to clean up their shit. Women need to keep on this.

A couple blocks of the article…more at link. It’s sickening. A doctor. He deserves what is coming to him.

ESPN - McKayla Maroney alleges past abuses by Larry Nassar as early as age 13

McKayla Maroney, a two-time Olympic medalist, has alleged that she was abused as early as age 13 by former Michigan State and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who already faces 22 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and could receive a sentence of life in prison.

Maroney, now 21, helped the “Fierce Five” U.S. women’s gymnastics team to the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Games in London. She spoke out early Wednesday as part of the “#MeToo” movement on social media, saying, “Silence has given the wrong people power for too long, and it’s time to take our power back.”

Nassar was involved with USA Gymnastics for nearly three decades as a trainer and national medical coordinator, a role that led him to treat the country’s elite gymnasts at four separate Olympic Games.

Maroney said the abuse began when she was 13 and attending a U.S. National team training camp at the Karoyli Ranch in the Sam Houston Forest north of Houston, Texas. She did not detail Nassar’s specific actions.

“Dr. Nassar told me that I was receiving ‘medically necessary treatment that he had been performing on patients for over 30 years,’” Maroney wrote. “It started when I was 13 years old, at one of my first National Team training camps, in Texas, and it didn’t end until I left the sport. It seemed whenever and wherever this man could find the chance, I was ‘treated.’

Attorneys representing 125 women who are suing Nassar agreed in August to take the cases to mediation, a step that could result in a settlement.

The plaintiffs are also suing USA Gymnastics, Michigan State and other defendants. Attorneys have said that more women are expected to join the lawsuits.

It is not known whether Maroney, who lives in California and officially retired in 2015, is part of those lawsuits.

Nassar has already pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges and is in jail, awaiting a Nov. 27 sentencing in that case.

He also faces charges in state court in Michigan, largely related to allegations that he digitally penetrated women during medical exams for his own sexual gratification. If convicted on any one of the 22 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, Nassar could be sentenced to life in prison.

In the past, Nassar and his attorneys have defended the intra-vaginal and intra-rectal procedures as accepted medical practice.

Nunes made Fusion testify even after being told they would take the 5th (and never requiring other people to do so). They wanted to have the headline you see about taking the 5th.

This, like Weinstein and Trump and Cosby, is another good example of why “most women have experienced this kind of thing” and “most men don’t do this kind of thing” can both be true. The men who do it, do it over and over and over again. It’s never “just that one time.”

USA Gymnastics has been covering up this kind of abuse for decades.

[Embedded content]

Chloe Angyal has been active on that front in pointing out the systematic abuse of 100s of gymnasts at the hands of male doctors.

The horror continues to be revealed. Maybe all powerful men need a chaperone present to keep them from abusing anyone.

Chloe has an excellent profile pic. The side-eye is so appropriate for what she’s exposing.

I would love to agree with you. But there are a myriad of articles that show just normal guys getting away with it - or a slap on the wrist - or worse they get custody rights for a child they created via sexual assault.

re: #56 lawhawk

I just would like to say this, about ALL of this madness:

Women have been doing what we’ve been told to do (dress a certain way, talk a certain way, move a certain way, control our lives so we aren’t in bad places where bad things happen, etc, ad fucking nauseum) since, well, forever, and we’re still getting raped, harassed and abused.

The ONLY way this will cease to be an issue is if women keep fighting, but there’s always a key thing forgotten about in this discussion. Men. Men who do these things do not care at all what women do, think or feel. What we do to try to be safe is lost on those men. What we say about how this hurts means nothing to them. That means men have got to step up and call their fathers, brothers, friends and family out on their shit. Even if it fucks up relationships, even if it means a fight ensues. I’ve got shit for that from women before, “we don’t need more men trying to fix things for us”, etc. And I sort of get it, but this is a big cultural problem, it’s not just a “women’s issue”. There is a frightening percentage of male people out there who regard women as nothing more than trash and they won’t respond to women speaking out in any other way but to triple down on their hate. Men pushing back against these assholes is the only way to make it safe for more people to step forward and tell what happened to them. I wish we could have this discussion on a national level, but like racism and slavery, we cannot seem to get to the place where we can be grown ups, admit some shit has been fucked up for way too long and work on ways to make it better and be smarter.

OT, but need a moment.

My brother and sister-in-law had a dog that was a pit bull/coahuila cattle dog mix. It was perfectly fine and loving with people, but aggressive towards other animals of any kind. Especially other dogs. It had jumped their fence and gone after passing dogs before. She was sweet as hell to people and dangerous to other dogs.

They never trained her, never put limits on her, never exercised her…she was FULL of pent-up energy and was smart as hell…and just had no business having that dog. No idea how to “parent” her.

Even my very mild-mannered husband warned them that she’s a disaster waiting to happen and they had to either manage her or give her away. Didn’t happen.

Last night, she jumped out of their (tiny) yard, attacked another dog viciously, and the dog’s owner shot her. Didn’t kill her but injured her to the point she had to be put down. I do not blame him. This dog was vicious towards other dogs and i have no doubt his dog would have gotten their throat ripped out. He can’t get in the middle of that and he had to save his dog.

I’m trying not to be pissed, but i am. She was a beautiful, intelligent, sweet dog that needed owners that knew how to manage her. They had no business having that dog at all. Not just because she lost her life, but because she’d already attacked other dogs and they’d done nothing about it.

/rant. She was a good girl with bad owners. And i don’t get to say that out loud.

Following Wednesday’s back-and-forth between Trump and Wilson, Karen Meredith, who lost her son, 1st Lt. Ken Ballard, in Iraq, called the President’s remarks “disgraceful” and “unbecoming.”

“Mr. Trump, stop. Please, just stop,” Meredith, the Gold Star and Military Families coordinator for VoteVets, said in a statement. “This is not about you, it is about them. It is about all of us who lost our loved ones in war. For once in your life, please stop making everything about you. For once in your life, at least pretend to know what empathy is. For once in your life, at least try to care about other people and their feelings.”

They live in a neighborhood. Their dog jumped her fence and went into a neighbor’s front yard and attacked their Labrador that was hanging out off-leash. The owner went inside and got his gun.

My Lab hangs out with me in our front yard, off leash, all of the time. She will not leave my side and does exactly what I tell her to so I know she’s fine. Other neighbors in my area do the same. None of our dogs are the least bit aggressive. We have a neighbor with a German Shepherd that has shown aggression before and they make sure that dog never leaves the house off-leash and they are very careful with him around other dogs.

Just part of being a responsible dog owner. If you have an aggressive dog, you are aware of it and act appropriately.

He also doesn’t seem to understand that he isn’t the President’s personal lawyer, but the top lawyer for the Department of Justice.

It’s a nuance lost on both Sessions and Trump.

Sessions’ obligation is to the Constitution, not to Trump personally. Both Sessions and Trump seem to think Sessions’ job is to protect Trump, not the Constitution and uphold the law.

Oh man, I think I may be in for a surprise medical bill from my hospital visit last month. I checked my Cigna claims and to my surprise there’s a claim for an anesthesiologist that was evidently “out-of-network”. But here’s the kicker: NO ONE disclosed to me at the time of the visit that it would be out of network.

I’m bracing for the bill since it will be in the fucking thousands, for something that is clearly not my fault at all.

Has anyone else gone through this before?

That’s a situation that’s all too common. People sometimes have no control over who their doctors treating them and whether they’re in/out of network. That goes for anesthesiologists as well as ER visits, where the hospital might be in network, but ER services are provided by a practice group that is separate from the hospital and therefore could be out of network. NJ was trying to get a law to clarify that so that those kinds of charges aren’t hidden.

Which I was. After my surprise out-of-network visit to a cardiologist by a referral via my regular physician, I make sure I don’t make the same mistake again. I didn’t blow up on my physician since it’s not her responsibility if the referral is “in-network” or “out-of-network” as it is mine to do so.

It sucks that I double check on everything to make sure I’m “in-network” only for a colossal bill to occur soon.

Sessions is already in a perjury trap, and already on the record having committed perjury.

I am not sure what frustrates me most about this maladministration but what you said is damn near close to the top.

Moore’s unqualified to hold any office anywhere. And he was removed from the bench twice. There’s good reason for that, but this is precisely the kind of insanity and insane legal reasoning Trump and the GOP want to salt the judiciary at the federal and state level with.

They want to sabotage and undermine the judiciary with intent to reverse decades of social progress, especially on civil and human rights.

re: #130 Kragar

There’s a story (from Dana Perino’s book) of how GWB met with servicemembers & families at Walter Reed, and one of the members began yelling and screaming at Bush. At the end, Bush still tried consoling the woman. He understood it was his duty and obligation.

But there were exceptions. One mom and dad of a dying soldier from the Caribbean were devastated, the mom beside herself with grief. She yelled at the president, wanting to know why it was her child and not his who lay in that hospital bed.

Her husband tried to calm her and I noticed the president wasn’t in a hurry to leave—he tried offering comfort but then just stood and took it, like he expected and needed to hear the anguish, to try to soak up some of her suffering if he could.

Later as we rode back on Marine One to the White House, no one spoke.

But as the helicopter took off, the president looked at me and said, “That mama sure was mad at me.” Then he turned to look out the window of the helicopter. “And I don’t blame her a bit.”

One tear slipped out the side of his eye and down his face. He didn’t wipe it away, and we flew back to the White House.

Trump doesn’t get any of that.

All of the revelations of sexual abuse and harassment coming out are both horrifying and important. I deeply hope this is the beginning of the end of a culture which accepts sexual harassment as the price of doing business and enables sexual predators to act with impunity.

And I was no Bush fan at all. Never liked him and thought his re-election was a stain on the nation but at least the man knew how to show respect and warmth to people who had lost so much. Trump doesn’t even appear to have known Sgt Johnson’s name when he talked with his mother. And I bet you Trump doesn’t know where Niger is or why we had people there.

That AP story has been expanded to four families.

When you really get to see Trump in action you can get a true feel for how he thinks he is getting away with the whole Russian investigation.

It is all lies, backed up by bluster and meaningless threats.

When he says there was no Russian Collusion he is just covering for himself like he is covering for himself on these calls to parents of military that have lost a son or daughter.

He thinks he is such a great liar that no one sees it as a lie. He’s lying to himself.

Yep, the more you know, the more you know he is in deep.

I hope he does get to talk to Mueller. He is going to hang himself when he does, if he does. Just more lying, cover and bluster.

Yeah that’s it. I thought Bush was in over his head and he had advisers while intelligent wanted policies that would only benefit the wealthy and their buddies but I think Bush was capable of warmth and remembering he was President of all Americans. I can’t imagine Trump showing the humanity Bush did after 9/11 when he made it clear we were not at war with all Muslims. Yep, he had to bring Obama into it when he got pressed. He’s his own worst enemy in many ways and I hope it’s what brings him down in the end.

Not just President Obama (though he was likely Trump’s intended target because Barack Obama lives rent-free in his head). The implication was no president ever did that.

He managed to make a soldier’s death and a call to his family about him.

And no Republican (other than those out of office) has said diddly yet.

I knew conservatives didn’t really care about the troops or our families when I was in the Navy, but I never thought I would see their contempt for us so openly displayed.

Since this is a thread about Trumps instability as president, I thought the linked article “Profile of a Narcissistic Sociopath” would be apropos. Warning: this will NOT make your day.

Link

From the link, a perfect description of Trump:

These people are mentally ill and extremely dangerous! The following precautions will help to protect you from the destructive acts of which they are capable. To recognize them, keep the following guidelines in mind:
(1) They are habitual liars. They seem incapable of either knowing or telling the truth about anything.

(2) They are egotistical to the point of narcissism. They really believe they are set apart from the rest of humanity by some special grace.

(3) They scapegoat; they are incapable of either having the insight or willingness to accept responsibility for anything they do. Whatever the problem, it is always someone else’s fault.

(4) They are remorselessly vindictive when thwarted or exposed.

(5) Genuine religious, moral, or other values play no part in their lives. They have no empathy for others and are capable of violence. Under older psychological terminology, they fall into the category of psychopath or sociopath, but unlike the typical psychopath, their behavior is masked by a superficial social facade.

True story here. As you guys know, Mike Strank of the famous Iwo Jima flag raising photo is a distant cousin of mine. Anyhow, in 1948, three years after Mike died( he was Kia after the photo), President Truman was in Johnstown for his reelection. He met with Mike’s parents who were Rusyn immigrants. Anyhow he met with them in their humble home and told Mike’s sister, only fifteen that it was a honor to meet them. The POTUS found it a honor to meet Vasil and Martha Strank first of Jarabina, Slovakia later of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

UPDATE: President Defends Conversation: Gold-Star Mom says “I would’ve hung up!” on the President

The mother of the serviceman also said the president disrespected the dead soldier.”President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband,” Cawanda Jones-Johnson told The Washington Post
According to a source close to the president, President Donald Trump was “misunderstood” in his comments to an army widow, and only meant to console her - though an early morning tweet issued by the president bypassed his condolences to tear into Congresswoman Wilson.

“This president cares deeply. Maybe he said something that was misunderstood, but he certainly cares about fallen servicemen and women,” the source said speaking on background.

snip

“I probably would have hung up on him,” Christina Ayube said bluntly.
Ayube, a Gold-Star mother from Salem, Mass. lost her son, Army Sgt. James Ayube December 8, 2010.
Sgt. Ayube, an army medic was on patrol when an elderly man approached him and another soldier and detonated a suicide bomb that also killed the two soldiers.

“President Obama was there when the remains returned to Dover and he saluted his casket,” Ayube said. “I got a letter and a personal note from him later,” she added.
“My son was a medic. He didn’t sign up for that,” Ayube said in response to the president’s comments about Johnson. “I somewhat hoped when this president took office he would realize the gravity of his job and wouldn’t act so juvenile. It’s either he has no empathy or he just thinks he’s above us all and we’re here for his pleasure.”

I’m just exhausted. Between Trumps utter lack of empathy, him saber-rattling us to the brink of preemptive war against whoever pissed him off that day, the GOP full on circling the wagons and inoculating him from consequences forever and anon, ICE becoming a full-on gestapo hitsquad against anyone that looks foreign, and virtually no hope aside from the Mueller hail mary on the horizon…

I’m just tired. I want some sort of change, but I don’t see it happening. America, no matter what they say in the polls, seems to just want this too much. The hate it too much, too strong, too invincible to do anything a-fucking-bout. it’ll win every single fucking time no matter how hard you try, because if you try, people will just fucking hate you all the more because you’re from the ‘wrong crowd’, and immediately dismiss you, your kind, your issue out of hand and just simply drown you in even more hate and spite.

I hate everything. I want to go back to bed and just sleep, because I don’t see any fucking hope anymore.

The hits keep on coming for Gold Star Families:

President Trump, in a personal phone call to a grieving military father, offered him $25,000 and said he would direct his staff to establish an online fundraiser for the family, but neither happened, the father said.

Chris Baldridge, the father of Army Cpl. Dillon Baldridge, told The Washington Post that Trump called him at his home in Zebulon, N.C., a few weeks after his 22-year-old son and two fellow soldiers were gunned down by an Afghan police officer in a suspected insider attack June 10. Their phone conversation lasted about 15 minutes, Baldridge said, and centered for a time on the father’s struggle with the manner in which his son was killed.

everyone knows he’s lying

even “them” - his base knows it. of course they do.

and then like clockwork - reliably they pick up the lie, defend it, explain it, bend reality to make it fit and true

every time he snaps his fingers, on twitter, tv, wherever, he’s then got them dancing like marionettes.

So that’s what happened.

It is dangerous to focus too much on the electoral college and the presidency. Congress and a majority of the states being under Republican control is also a major problem.

I agree.

I would also note how many deeply-red local and state seats have flipped from Republicans to Democrats since the last election.

For all that, the people who aren’t complete fuckwits are finally starting to realize that non-participation in the political process has consequences. Namely, if you don’t want your country to FedEx its soul to hell, you might just want to speak the fuck up.

re: #335 EPR-radar

The Electoral College is the direct and proximate cause for why Trump is in the WH. Narrow popular vote wins in just enough states gave Trump the WH, despite losing the overall popular vote by 3 million votes.

Just enough manipulation of popular sentiment and fuckery by the Russians in just the right places was enough to shift the landscape enough to create the current chaos in the WH.

[edit] Throw in gerrymandering and voter suppression efforts, and you have a GOP that loses popular votes but wins offices, and then tilts the playing field in their favor. The more they win, the more they tilt the field.

It seems like every eight years the country needs to be reminded of just how much damage Republicans can do when they are in power. Then after eight years, the Left starts saying, “They’re all the same! I’m voting for [Nader] [Stein] [Insert next far left vanity candidate here]!”

All the guys in my office talking about, “Oh, if only more people had voted for Gary Johnson.” No, that would have only made us more of an embarrassment. Yeah, and Ike also put up way too much with the disgusting Dulles brothers and Richard Nixon. But he also federalized the National Guard to integrate Little Rock Central High School, even though he himself was hardly a liberal on racial matters. I can’t picture any of the other modern Republican presidents doing anything close to that.
