Stephen Colbert Interviews Peter Serafinowicz - Creator of the ‘Sassy Trump’ Video Series

I’ve been LOLing for months at the “Sassy Trump” videos, and posting many of them here at Little Green Footballs, and now the creator, Peter Serafinowicz, has hit the big time. (Well, actually, he was already kind of in the big time, with a long career as a voice actor.)

Family Research Council prays against George Soros:

“God, intervene! Glorify your name! Protect and preserve your people. Be a shield to them against the schemes of evil men. May your people know your blessing and provision and be fully equipped to counteract the plans of those who scheme for evil. Cause every dollar intended to harm to fail! May God arise and his enemies be scattered! May God’s people be blessed and his kingdom works prosper despite every plot to overthrow them. May God bring this billionaire to his knees before the Lord Jesus in repentance, forgive him and all those he has used to do evil. Send us revival that will bring sinners and the faithful humbly to bow before you and confess you as Lord! Only you can save us, unite us in righteousness and heal our land.”

It has never crossed their minds, such as they are, that they can go to hell for lying, especially in prayer. I can just see these fundy grifters at the final judgement in which they profess so fervently to believe, “OH SHIT! You mean this God stuff was REAL?”

Constant continuous attacks by the right wing going all the way back to the Arkansas Project.

When Hillary Clinton spoke of a “vast right-wing conspiracy” she wasn’t lying.

There is an entire generation that has grown up only hearing that Hillary Clinton is somehow corrupt or untrustworthy, and that did take a toll on the left in the election.

Did Jesus say something about not making a public spectacle of prayer? Oh yeah, Matthew 6:5-8…

5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

And that is exactly how police work functions: You get a tip or uncover a tidbit of information, and see where it leads. You follow the evidence. You reach your conclusion based on the evidence.

Like the conservative idea about how science works, and exactly as religion works, they have their conclusion and will work backwards, ignoring evidence that doesn’t fit their narrative.

Better question:

Why does it take more than 1 accusation to take any allegation of sex harassment, abuse, or discrimination seriously?

There’s strength in numbers here. But with 300+ women coming forward, that’s a rate that means he’s spending practically all his time harassing women or worse.

With Trump, a dozen women came forward, and the GOP elected him president anyways.

Ailes harassed women. O’Reilly harassed women. Weinstein did the same - but it took more than one allegation to end them.

Meanwhile, these privileged white guys (and they’re invariably rich and powerful white guys) can harass and know they can get away with it because who would believe a lone voice in the wilderness. Even when a few come forward, they’re treated to a gauntlet of attacks on their credibility. We saw that with Trump and others as well.

That all has to change, but it wont be overnight either.

All of Equifax’s data was available on the internet, to anyone. Unencrypted and in cleartext, no login necessary: motherboard.vice.com pic.twitter.com

— Jason Koebler (@jason_koebler) October 26, 2017

OMFG…

Perhaps, Equifax’s disastrous data breach was a foregone conclusion, given the company’s history of security mishaps. Some of the former employees we spoke to had specific stories about vulnerabilities that remained unpatched, internal portals that weren’t as secure as they should have been, and infrastructure that didn’t require two-factor authentication to log in to.

One year, according to the former employee who worked in IT, he and his team found that someone had programmed files to be inappropriately wiped on multiple servers—an act of internal sabotage, he said. But the team had no way of discovering who did it—there were no activity logs or ways to track who had set up the script.

“Luck is what found it,” he said. “It isn’t like [Equifax] had file integrity monitoring or anything like that to discover it—not even on systems with sensitive information.”

These issues have been the norm at Equifax, according to the people I spoke to. One person, who worked at Equifax around 10 years ago, recalled that during his time there he warned the company of some servers that needed to be patched because they had open file-sharing ports that could be exploited by worms. The company did nothing, and, three months later, some servers got infected with the infamous Conficker worm, the source said.

“It’s the same problem, but 10 years later,” the source said.

As Bloomberg reported in September, Equifax employees were so worried a hack might be coming that they used to joke that the over-100-year-old company was just one hack away from bankruptcy.

“It’s a strange company. Given the amount of data they have access to and the sensitivity of it, security isn’t at the forefront of everybody’s mind, not how it should be,” another former Equifax cybersecurity employee told me. “It was always a bit of a struggle there to get anything done.”

I’m sorry, but, if there were a case for a corporate death penalty, Equifax should’ve been pushing up daisies long ago.

The CHIP program expired without renewal a month ago.

Thus the pro-life party is busy focusing on what’s important: banning abortions.

shareblue.com

Two days after CHIP expired, the House passed a bill that would imprison any doctor performing an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, which accounts for about 1 percent of abortions and is most often used when the woman’s health is at risk or the fetus she is carrying is not viable.

The 20 week ban will likely die in the Senate. But Republicans decided even that bill was not extreme enough.

On Nov. 1, the House Judiciary Committee will take up a bill to ban abortion at six weeks. (bold mine) That is before many women even realize they are pregnant. North Dakota tried to enact a similar law two years ago, and it was ruled unconstitutional in federal court.

Such a ban would effectively criminalize all abortion, which is a constitutionally protected right.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if your allegation is that it was the Clinton campaign that colluded with the Russian government to screw with the presidential election, wouldn’t you expect for…I don’t know…Hillary to win? Or are Nunes and the rest of the Butthole Brigade actually trying to argue with a straight face that Trump would have had a bigger win if not for Clinton/Russian collusion?

They understand that ‘collusion’ is a bad thing. They don’t know what it means, or they believe Trump’s followers don’t know what it means (probably true), so they accuse Dems of it.

Sure, but reality is inverted on Fox Propaganda and the wingnut blogs, and they have a President who promotes this propaganda-based worldview.

Nazi theory indeed specifically denies that such a thing as “the truth” exists. … The implied objective of this line of thought is a nightmare world in which the Leader, or some ruling clique, controls not only the future but the past. If the Leader says of such and such an event, “It never happened” - well, it never happened. If he says that two and two are five - well, two and two are five. This prospect frightens me much more than bombs.

And the great mass of the apathetic, both-siderists, and don’t careists will sit back and let all this go by without a bit of notice until it is too late. Then they’ll wonder why someone didn’t come and save them.

Jefferson’s famous statement “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure” doesn’t just refer to going out with a gun and fighting off enemies on the battlefield.

The price of liberty is eternal vigilance (attributed to him) is the subtext. If you are vigilant for those trying to subvert your liberty, the spilling of blood on a battlefield is unnecessary.

Trump begged from the campaign stage for Russia to release Hillary’s emails.
