Trump and the GOP Are Promoting a Completely Fake “Clinton Scandal,” and Trump’s Son Is Pushing a Conspiracy Site

Politics • Views: 28,876

Here’s the best explainer I’ve seen today on the Trump gang’s latest attempt (eagerly abetted by right wing media) to muddy the waters of the Russia investigation, and flip the narrative to try to implicate … yes, you guessed it … Hillary Clinton instead.

Brian Beutler does a great job here of laying out The Makings of a GOP Pseudo-Scandal.

This week, House Republicans launched two joint investigations, spanning three congressional committees, aimed at sowing confusion about the nature of Russian influence over last year’s election.

This isn’t liberal gloss on a series of news developments that muddy a clean scandal ensnaring President Donald Trump. Rather, it describes a documentable, partisan effort to use the levers of government to confuse the public about a foreign conspiracy—the subject of a federal criminal investigation—to bolster President Donald Trump’s campaign and sabotage his rivals.

Read it all — it’s the usual fake right wing scandal-mongering we’ve all seen so many times before, but for some reason the mainstream press keeps chasing this imaginary squirrel every time it shows its bushy imaginary tail.

And just for laughs, here’s Donald Trump’s white nationalist son, citing an anonymous writer at the ludicrous conspiracy website ZeroHedge with a ridiculous story that tries to spin nothing into something.

Why, it’s almost as if the Trump org is really just a front group for laundering Russian mob money and Jr. doesn’t really have any work to do.

What is the most aggravating about it all is even when the media tries to be “skeptical,” it makes sure to plaster the most click-baiting-est headlines on its articles. So you’ll get a headline that screams “POSSIBLE NEW EVIDENCE IN CLINTON URANIUM SCANDAL!!!,” then when you actually read the article it’s largely speculation mixed with a few ominous-sounding “facts” to make the goobers think there’s more substance to the whole thing than there truly is.

Moore had recently returned from Vietnam, where he’d been a military-police officer. Some who served under Moore there had referred to him, with sarcasm, as “Captain America,” chafing at his egoist style of command. One such officer, Barrey Hall, told the Associated Press, in 2003, that Moore’s “policies damn near got him killed in Vietnam. He was a strutter.”

I just ordered an i7-8700K PC. I usually build my own, but that CPU is in short supply right now, and only available in pre-built PCs at the moment. I’ll be going from a Gen 2 i7 to a Gen 8. It’s been a while since I upgraded my CPU.

I spend a lot of time in VR, so I figure it’s worth it to upgrade my VR PC. My legs are solid muscle, just from being on my feet and moving around playing VR games, rather than sitting in my recliner.

Nah, Burns was a Bible-thumper (at least, in the movie) and Flagg was the stereotypical virulent anti-Communist, but both were pretty feckless and incompetent.

Moore is basically a Bible-thumping Neidermeyer; in an odd way, that makes sense.

re: #418 Backwoods_Sleuth

Here’s the major thing about disaster response IRT power restoration:
1) You know the hurricane/ice storm/nor’easter/whatever devastating weather event is on its way.
2) Staging: you have done this so many times now it almost automatic.
3) Get your manpower, equipment and supplies STAGED in an area most conducive to the most rapid response possible.

Here we are more than a month after Maria and Whitefish Energy has failed by any reasonable measure.

It’s pathetic that ANYONE is making excuses for this.

—>Not only that, but they had hundreds of trucks and crews just in Florida finishing up repairs there. And Miami is a fucking deepwater port, for dog’s sake. All they needed was a RORO boat to sail to San Juan. Pitiful response by FEMA in PR.

Nice to see something good come of Legends of Tomorrow.

A visual effects artist for the CW show “Legends of Tomorrow” posted a photo on his Facebook page of a small plaque that he said the show’s producers put up, with the caption, “In dishonor of our President, the producers of my show have created a plaque commemorating his comments to Billy Bush, which happened on our lot.”

So far, the “evidence” of “collusion” by the Clinton campaign is a “quid-pro-quo scandal” where nobody can provide evidence that the money that went to the Clinton Foundation or speaking fees was paid with the expectation of approval of a deal, and a “scandal” involving a dossier so credible (in addition to other evidence) that the FBI secured FISA wiretapping warrants off it.

Confirming what we’ve all known for a while - that the GOP tax scheme is a smash and grab (gut functioning govt so rich can get even richer), and even the veneer of economic growth under “dynamic” scoring can’t hide fact that revenues will fall significantly and cause massive deficits (for which the GOP answer will be still more budget cuts).

Meanwhile, outside the endless screeching of the MonkeyScandal Bubble, the real business of a GOP government continues: the looting of all wealth in the country and its steady transfer to the ultra-wealthy elites.

Today’s edition: the Death Tax. Mindless GOP slogans are that it affects all small business owners trying to pass on the pittance made from their Tastee-Freezes to their huddled, ragged waifchildren.

You are still overstating it: the Uranium One deal was approved by multiple agencies in addition to State. Unless they can show the Russians got to decision makers at every other agency, the quo to the quid was impossible.

People are probably more afraid of radioactive candy than razor blades. That, and try finding double-edged razor blades these days.*

*As it happens, my brother unexpectedly found one in a dresser in my Dad’s old bedroom (he sleeps downstairs now, what with the two fake knees and being 99 and all). Noticed a knob was loose, so he reached his hand in to hold the screw while tightening it, and YEEOWCH!! cut his finger on a blade in a “safety razor”. Probably the blade had been there for decades.

I actually used double-edge razors because I shave with a safety razor. I usually have to go to a pharmacy or specialty store to find them, but they’ve recently started carrying them at target. So, win for the hipsters, I guess.

There’s a wonderful scene in “North By Northwest”, where the train stops and Cary Grant gets off to go clean up and shave in the Mens Room at the station, using the small razor the New York Central provided. He’s lathered up and starting to shave, then looks to his left, where there’s a big man with a straight razor who chuckles at his tiny safety razor.

When he gets back to the train, Eva Marie Saint asks what took him so long.

“Big face, tiny razor”, he tells her.

Half are racist.

The other half are enablers or racism-tolerant. They’re the ones we’ve been warned about who will overlook or ignore racism, bigotry, xenophobia, etc. either because they don’t think it’s a ‘big deal’ or simply because they think it’s worth the trade off to get what they want.

I mean…in all honesty? A lot of us knew about Putin. The only problem was before ‘16, we thought he was just relegated to a regional strongman, a dictator who could be contained and eventually counteracted. We never envisioned that a significant portion of our own country would be willing to sell their souls to him for the sake of power.

The Dossier in question mentioned rumors of a “pee tape”, and that got the headlines, but it wasn’t the meat and potatoes of the content, which laid out the degree to which the Drumpfs used Russian Oligarch money to fund projects. That’s not sexy. That doesn’t get eyeballs, but it got Comey’s eyeballs, and certainly Mueller’s.

Was his organization laundering Kleptocracy money? Oh, hells yes. That was the quid pro quo for the financing when American banks wouldn’t touch him, as at least one of his sons has previously admitted.

This isn’t 3D chess criminal forensics. It’s just follow the money.

Worth reminding the studio audience that the dossier was initially funded by the Washington Free Beacon and their billionaire backer, who also happened to be Marco Rubio’s sugar daddy.

Once Rubio and the rest of the GOP field folded like cheaply (and foreign) made Trump suits, Clinton and Democrats went ahead and did additional oppo research, which was separate and distinct from the FBI interest in all things Trump (and Flynn and Manafort and Page and Junior and Kushner and Kislyak and Russian nesting dolls of scammers all the way down) that started well before the dossier.

But to get us out of dear leader terrority, they can refute it.
