Even more interesting! The Podesta Group is run by Tony Podesta, not his brother John. Hillary’s Podesta had NOTHING TO DO with Yanukovich and Manafort.

This is not rocket science. All you have to do is type “Podesta” and Yanukovich” into Google, and it pops right up on this subject. There is no “both sides”. Tony is not John.

Would right wingers freak out and bitch if a country like Singapore banned Milo from visiting their country?

Even though Singapore has a strict policy on banning divisive individuals who threaten the complex social mosaic of the country?

Since Nigel Farage is a “person of interest” in Mr. Mueller’s investigations due to his ties to Wikileaks, it wouldn’t surprise me if Mr. Mueller isn’t also looking at Dana Rohrabacher. It would also be great if Chuck C. Johnson and Nunes were also on his radar screen since both seem to love Trump, Putin, and Russia more than anything else in this world

US Forces Capture Second Benghazi Suspect in Lybia

(I wasn’t aware we had forces in Libya)

US forces captured Mustafa al-Imam in Libya for his alleged role in the 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, the White House announced on Monday.
“Yesterday, on my orders, United States forces captured Mustafa al-Imam in Libya,” President Donald Trump said in a statement. “To the families of these fallen heroes: I want you to know that your loved ones are not forgotten, and they will never be forgotten.”
Mustafa al Imam may have operated under different aliases, an administration official told CNN. The US government has video of al Imam present at one of the two sites of the attacks that killed four Americans, the official said. It’s not initially clear whether the video shows al Imam at the consulate or the annex which was also attacked.
The official said the US had been monitoring the terrorist operative’s location for some time.

I’m wondering how a discussion about today’s indictments and his dispute with the widow of La David Johnson and Rep. Wilson morphed into his providing a defense of slavery and the confederacy. Kelly is exactly what I’ve been thinking he is all along—-he’s a self-promoting bigot and a liar. No one should believe anything he has to say about anything because he avoids truth, facts, reality, and taking responsibility for his own words/actions. He doesn’t have to ever apologize to Ms. Wilson or Mrs. Johnson for the lies he told about them because they know exactly who and what he is—-a liar and a bigot.

That’s a tough one. I’d say Black Sabbath because they (and Led Zeppelin in a lot of ways) perfected that loud crunchy guitar and the overall doom feeling they brought with the lyrics. Deep Purple definitely had an enormous influence with heavy grooves and heavy incorporation of keyboards.

For me, Deep Purple by a mile. It helped that they toured the US like crazy. It seemed like I was going to either Deep Purple or The Faces concerts every couple of months in the mid 70’s. I saw The Who once just as Who’s Next was coming out but you could tell it was kind of a crappy night for them.

Early Jefferson Starship I loved when they still had Marty Balin doing vocals. The latter incantations after the album “Nuclear Furniture” - not so much.

When Jefferson Airplane had their reunion concert in 1989 and I had third-row seats at Pine Knob: Now THAT was one motherfuckingexcellent show. Grace Slick threw out tiny Panda Bear stuffed animals that was the closing track on the reunion album, and I got one, squirreled away in safe keeping. Also, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady came to the side of the stage my friend and I were at and played old Airplane and Hot Tuna songs.

As my friend at the time would say: “CD’s suck!”

I didn’t care to actually watch Duck Dynasty, but then I don’t care for any of those shows. And I definitely don’t care for their politics. But, from the little bit I got when my dad or brother would show me clips, they were the only people on any of those “reality” shows that actually enjoyed the joke of what those shows really were: To allow the common folk to laugh at those who are doing better than they are. All the others, such as the real housewives shows, take their position in front of the camera way too seriously.

Bringing back memories of December 1977. Just graduated from Pitt. My friends and I scored tickets to see The Sex Pistols at their first US concert in the old Homestead Theater in Homestead PA. Truly the wildest concert I ever saw. This was before CNN, there were TV and Network camera crews in the theater. Malcolm McLaren came out in a mink coat and white tie and tails to “warm” the audience up and he was pissed because the manager of the theater forbade any slam dancing in the aisles. Then the boys came out did a 60 minute set with Johnny telling the manager to go intercourse himself and the folks started slam dancing at the front and aisles. Police came in to “restore order”.

Other concerts I remember—Wendy O Williams of the Plasmatics getting arrested because she came on stage wearing shaving cream and electrical tape…Edith Massesy and the Eggs at the Starwood in Los Angeles where the whole audience had to be consuming mind altering chemicals. X at the Anti-Club on Melrose. And what would Halloween be without Screaming Jay Hawkins being brought on stage in a silver casket with a dozen pallbearers. Then the coffin squeaks open and Jay rises holding his talismans singing...”Afternoon Delight”????

Those were the days…

It’s such a weird coincidence. Did you see earlier that I realized I was at Dulles the day George was arrested? We’re also the same age. Hannity calling him 29 is a mistake. He’s likely 30. Minor nitpick but pointing it out because he can run for any office but POTUS.

Speaking of Snopes:

A satire Website apologised after labelling Sgt. La David Johnson a “deserter”:

snopes.com

There aren’t many apologies given after fake news is posted. Yet, two days after a so-called “satire” site posted a false story smearing the “black soldier” who was killed during a 4 October 2017 ambush in Niger as a “deserter,” administrators for the Facebook page that promoted the story apologized and took it down.

The “black soldier” referenced by the “satire” site freedumjunkshun.com was U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson, 25, who was killed along with Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, and Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright when their patrol was attacked. The fake story cited a made-up quote from the right-wing web site breitbart.com and seemed to play on the heavily-partisan political storm kicked up around the soldier’s death:

That’s the show that got most rock bands banned from Red Rocks for most of the 70s.

A similar thing happened in 1996 when Phish showed up to play four nights at the joint. The place holds just under 10,000 people, and way more than twice that amount of people showed up. The riot police showed up on horse mounts firing tear gas, the works.

One of the folks on horse mount moving people out of Morrison that night was my grandfather, at the time retired Chief of Morrison Fire Dept.

Snopes also debunked the “cheeseburger emoji” article at FOX: According to Snopes, while they did cover that, it did not displace coverage of Paul Manafort or other developments in Robert Mueller’s investigation. (They link to a number of FOX videos showing they were covering the indictments, not the emoji.)

They also note CNN also gave some air to the cheeseburger emoji issue, which is not being promoted on the left as proof CNN is trying to cover up the indictment issue.

I think Jethro Tull were an underrated metal band. Heck, even the piano player could make you bang your head. Finally, on the subject of headbanging, I still think the greatest headbanging song of them all is one of the first - Helter Skelter.

Ordo Hereticus

“A heretic may see the truth and seek redemption. He may be forgiven his past and be absolved in death. A Traitor can never be forgiven. A Traitor can never find peace in this world or the next. There is nothing as wretched or as hated in all the world as a Traitor.”
— Anonymous

The Ordo Hereticus is one of the three major orders of the secretive organisation known as the Imperial Inquisition. They are tasked with protecting Mankind from itself, by combatting such internal threats to the Imperium as treason, mutation, heresy, apostate members of the Ecclesiarchy and unsanctioned psykers, better known as “witches”. It is this latter function that has earned the Inquisitors of the Ordo Hereticus the name “Witch Hunters”.

Downding all you want. It’s all subjective. Music is like sports - you can have fun busting balls over it. There are no evil bands (except Starship). Every so often (10 years or so) WXPN, a listener funded station in Philly has a top 885 and a worst 88 poll, and they play the result (even the worst 88, which is perversely kind of fun). You’d be surprised how many songs make both lists, and you’d be surprised how different their top 885 list is from their standard playlist, which is kind of odd.

The guy who turned me onto a variety of music was the late night host on WYSP (now a sports talk station) in the 80s. He would bring in his own records and play a lot of songs from bands that didn’t normally get played on the radio. I would put in a cassette and record, then listen the next day. A lot of times I could find out the songs but there were a ton of songs that the tape would cut off before he would say what it was. Over the years with satellite radio, google and youtube I figured out almost all of them, but there are three that I still cannot tie down. One is a version of The Viper Song by Dave something (tape ran out right after “Dave…”), another is a drum heavy instrumental that finishes with some guy beatboxing a riff from Higher Ground, and the third is a version of A Change is Gonna Come with an amazing vocal.

I had a close internet encounter with him when Richard Wright died (the keyboardist from Pink Floyd). A writer posted a few thoughts and remembrances about him, and I commented with a mention of the radio program. Wouldn’t you know that an our after I posted my comment he replied, but he never made any further comments. Unfortunately he’s almost impossible to Google, since he has the same name as the drummer from Def Leppard (Rick Allen), and it’s likely that after all these years he may no longer be with us.

There’s several scenes with Churchill (John Lithgow) and the artist who’s painting his portrait - the acting & the dialog/lack of was beyond mesmerizing.

Saw that Lithgow won a well deserved emmy for his portrayal.

Lithgow was brilliant as Churchill.

Multiple articles of impeachment are on the table. Emoluments, high crimes and misdemeanors, obstruction of justice…

Pick one, Congress.

These have been clear since Day One, the only thing preventing it was Congress. The Mueller investigation is going to put them in the uncomfortable position of having to either act upon these charges or grant their open and no longer tacit approval to such high crimes and misdemeanors.

Men with expensive tastes can spend several thou on one suit, especially if they’re bespoke. To me, spending more than a few hundred on a suit or a pair of shoes seems extravagant, but if I were trying to impress some multi-billionaire Russian oligarch, I could see where dressing like a shlub would get you escorted out the door.

Oligarchs probably put up with Shlub-in-chief Trump, because he’s rich and not that smart.

Slap a designer label on something, and it adds a few hundred percent markup value. For fun, check out stuff at the Ermenegildo Zegna webstore. And Zegna stuff is for the moderately rich who deign to visit retail shopping malls. Manafort probably only goes to exclusive bespoke shops in Manhattan for the insanely rich.

It’s said that Manafort’s suits were $7,500 a pop.

A few suits and maybe thrown in a nice Rolex GMT Master or an Officine Panerai or maybe a Patek Philippe and I’d imagine it adds up fast.

Chinese researchers followed the progress of more than 600,000 people in the largest study to date looking at the link between cancer and aspirin.

They found that people who had taken the drug every day for an average of seven years were 47 per cent less likely to develop liver or oesophageal cancer and 38 per cent less likely to be diagnosed with gastric cancer. They were also 34 per cent less likely to develop pancreatic cancer, and had a 24 per cent reduced risk of being diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Marc Thiessen has a column in the WaPo this morning titled

Clinton’s link to Putin is the underreported ‘dossier’ bombshell

I’m not going to link to it because it sucks so predictably, but he’s getting ripped to shreds in the comments and I want to steal this one brilliant reply by DocInDC_

Dear Marc,

This is your Delta SkyMiles representative, inviting you to apply for our exciting new RealityCardTM for your trip back from the Alternate Universe.

Delta RealityCardTM has a number of impressive, exclusive benefits including:

◘ Removal of discomforting, blinding milliseconds of rationalization and self-deception that are so frequently encountered in the Alternate Universe, and their replacement with a comfy, Delta RealityCardTM branded Satinique cushioned pillow;

◘ Availability of Delta RealityNavigatorsTM who will help you to talk yourself back from absurd, self-damaging, self-serving justifications such as “Because people used the same company…they must be connected!” with such Delta
RealityLandingsTM as: “Just because two people shop at the same supermarket doesn’t mean they are connected.”

◘ Specially formulated Delta Reality NeutraceuticalsTM that will cut back on those powerful political hunger cravings for any narrative, no matter how preposterous or desperate, that will fill the hungry base;

◘ Freedom from the cage of having to continue to pretend to believe an increasingly, extraordinarily fractured narrative from a President that even you know is unqualified, uninformed, impulsive, and entirely unaware of how to conduct foreign or domestic policy;

◘ No more of that weird, all-the-same-color food, like in 2001, except it’s red.

All of these benefits can be yours, Marc, for no annual fee,* when you enroll.

Delta RealityCardTM: Experience all of the benefits that reality has to offer.

*Final payment to Alternate Universe Trump Foundation Voluntary Mandatory Donation of $10,000.00 necessary. Prior damage from exposure to Alternate Reality not covered. Desire to flee back to illusory, delusional dreamworld of Alternate Reality is at discretion of user; Delta Reality CardTM is not responsible for such later efforts to escape reality and return to Alternate Universe. Void where prohibited.

After reading the WaPo article that names the people mentioned in the court documents as several senior campaign managers I thought back on what Corey Lewandowski said on the Today Show this morning during their first half hour news segment.

In the WaPo article Lewandowski says:

“High-Ranking Campaign Official”: Campaign manager Corey Lewandowski

Emails previously described to The Post indicate that the “high-ranking campaign official” described in court documents is onetime campaign manager Corey Lewandowski. The emails were among more than 20,000 pages that the Trump campaign turned over to congressional committees after review by White House and defense lawyers.

Lewandowski, who was pushed out of his post in June 2016, did not respond to requests for comment.

Papadopoulos wrote to Lewandowski several times to let him know that the Russians were interested in forging a relationship with the campaign, court filings show.

In one email on April 27, 2016, Papadopoulos wrote “to discuss Russia’s interest in hosting Mr. Trump.”

“Have been receiving a lot of calls over the last month about Putin wanting to host him and the team when the time is right,” he added.

In May, Papadopoulos forwarded to Lewandowski an offer of “cooperation” from a Russian with links to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “Is this something we want to move forward with?” he asked.

There is no indication if or how Lewandowski responded to those messages. But in June, when Papadopoulos emailed him again about Russia, Lewandowski referred him to Clovis because he “is running point,” according to court documents.

Now listen to how easy he lies about all that this morning…

Yeah, back in high school, I actually tried to write an Agatha Christie-style mystery novel. I also wrote a short story that featured a lengthy description of someone’s disemboweled intestines. So clearly, I was plotting to kill someone.

OK, nobody’s gonna believe me, but when I was in high school I did a senior paper based on Macbeth, which we were studying at the time. The protagonist was LBJ, who was vice president at the time. He kills JFK, with Ladybird’s fierce encouragement (Texas accents in blank verse). I only made it to Act II, where the couple were plotting against RFK as well. The key point is that I wrote this in the spring of 1963. If the teacher or the school, or for that matter anyone else, remembered it, I probably would have had a visit from men in conservative suits in the late fall of that year, and might be cited in various grassy-knoll-type CTs to this day.

Yep, we’re all (im)patiently waiting for Charles to either fix it or start a new thread.

I get that one bag a year on my BDay. Can’t eat as much choc as I used to, but that is my one indulgence. And choco chip cookies at Xmas time. Ok, and any Tootsie Rolls my grandkids get at a parade :-)

All this talk of Rolos makes be want to barf, but that’s just because I just ate a caramel apple with about a pound of chocolate chips on it. It was too much, but it’s not like you can just set a partially-eaten apple aside for later.

They tried launching Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups here in the Czech Republic.

It flopped. Czechs really don’t like peanut butter…..and most of them find the idea of peanut butter and chocolate (salty and sweet) revolting.

I only had one friend that would always ask me to pick some up for her because it wasn’t sold in her small town. She was the only person who liked them, aside from myself.

Do Czechs eat nutroll? Not really familiar with Czech cuisine. I always assumed it would be similiar to the Slovak cuisine i grew up on.

There’s no reason to hoard all those guns if you don’t plan to hand them out to fellow-psychos when the maniacs who call themselves “patriots” make their move. For some of them, that’s just a fantasy, but some could really act out. I just wish we had a real federal government to infiltrate right-wing radical groups.

I think Pearl Jam is overrated

I’ve never understood this comment. Where exactly are they being “rated” let alone “overrated”? PJ has been around for over 25 years. They are beloved by their fans. They never cared about making videos or being a pop culture/pop success or being some commercial entity. Their fans are the reason why they sell out every show and sell millions of units, not because they are rated or overrated or underrated or whatever-rated.
