Hilarious! Stephen Colbert’s Papadopoulos Monologue-Opoulos

Humor • Views: 33,163

One good thing (probably the only good thing) about Donald Trump’s presidency is that he’s ushered in a golden era of comedy, by making it super easy for people like Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers to puncture his narcissistic dishonesty.

Stephen is still “muell”-ing over the three Trump campaign operatives facing indictments from Robert Mueller, especially the one who might have been wearing a wire, George Papadopoulos.

time for more Amazing Facts from our fabulous wingnut mentors:

We always allowed immigrants in based upon our need not the immigrant’s need!

In fact there were many years we hardly allowed any immigrants in!

Now we actually have minimum quotas that we must make to take in people from certain countries just to keep certain levels of representation!

Meet Canada’s new Governor-General (the Queen’s representative in Canada).

“Can you believe that still today in learned society, in houses of government, unfortunately, we’re still debating and still questioning whether humans have a role in the earth warming up or whether even the earth is warming up, period,” she asked, her voice incredulous.

“And we are still debating and still questioning whether life was a divine intervention or whether it was coming out of a natural process let alone, oh my goodness, a random process.”

the gop congress would be resisting every step of the way

in a way it’s a relief to see their bluff called and watch them trip over their dicks. and, weirdly, trump makes a democratic congress working with a democratic president in the near future much more likely than a democratic president being elected in 2016 would have

If the Dodgers dont fire roberts next year, im done as a fan for a while. Everybody knew darvish was fragile and after the 2nd inning he should’ve been out of there. Roberts made lots of mistakes starting in game 2. Now kershaw is in and if he screwes up, then he legacy will be screwed up. If the dodgers somehow come back in spite of roberts, he still should be fired. Meltdown over.

You’re not wrong. The narrative all over ESPN has been how Roberts essentially blew games 2 and 5 with poor bullpen management. If the Dodgers win there, they never get to Game 7 in the first place.

Again, it was a scrub amateur softball league. I also played a passable 2B in that league. The play in question was a ball that stuck in the dirt right in front of the plate; I managed to scoop it up and throw it to first, the 1B stretched and grabbed my slightly off-line throw in time to nail the runner.

Not to quibble, but Darvish was gone before the second inning ended.

I played there until our 1B got a leg injury of some sort, then he got shifted behind the plate while I got put into the infield. I acquitted myself decently up the middle, but I made a couple of errors. The season ended and then I had back surgery, and I haven’t been on the field since.

It didn’t help that I had a very light bat for a beer softball league, though part of that may have been aggravated by the aforementioned back injury. I might try and take the field again this spring, though I’m currently lacking confidence in my abilities as a batter.

Depends on the league. In most of the fast-pitch leagues, you need to call pitches. And even in slow-pitch, there’s still pitcher management, meaning dealing with the psyche of a pitcher who is often as much of a prima donna as any Cy Young winner.

In our league, there really is no pitcher management. It’s slow pitch, and if your pitcher turns into an an asshole halfway through the game, that’s his own problem. The pitcher is usually the team manager, and it’s on him to take himself out. Doesn’t mean the catcher might not notice, though.

Joe Mauer was really the guy who instilled in me the respect for what a catcher could really do. A Silver Slugger and a Gold Glove? The guy was a beast behind the plate. It’s too bad his concussion and his subsequent move to 1B denied him a shot at the Hall of Fame, although he played Gold Glove-caliber defense at 1B this season but got majorly snubbed by the voters.

The literal rendering of “Allahu Akbar”, “God is great”, is hardly offensive in itself. I mean, hell, we sing that in church practically every Sunday.

The RWNJ reaction to the video of Libyan rescuers with Ambassador Stephenson after the attack in Benghazi was an especially egregious example of bigotry and ignorance. They had it that the crowd was desecrating the ambassador’s body and praising Allah that he had been killed. I speak, but do not read and write, Arabic. My interpretation was something like this:

(Man lifting Stephenson) It is Stephenson. He lives.
(bystanders) God is great!
(Man with Stephenson) Help me. We should get him to a doctor. Does anyone have a car?
(bystander) We have a car.

Babe Ruth had a movie theater in his home. Seriously high tech at the time. My grandfather was his projectionist and the only one he would allow to touch the equipment.

Now that’s awesome! Family lore holds it that my Nana’s father was a friend of Honus Wagner. And I may have found supporting evidence with an article mentioning a man with the same age and name playing semi pro ball in the 1890’s. Wagner grew up in the PGH area too.

He’s even lying about his own government statistics, which show coal production down for this year.

It increased slightly at the end of 2016 (that would be the last guy’s presidency).

And much of the coal mined comes from WY and MT anyway (which I hear rumbling through my village on trains) rather than WV or PA or OH

242

On that “coal production is up” remark from TrumpFOX, according to the government’s own statistics, the only coal production that is up is that which is used in metallurgy. That coal production represents about 8% of total coal production, and much of that is exported (out goes the “energy independence” talking point of conservatives).

For electric generation (the remainder), the government also notes that 51% of all electricity is now produced either with hydro or natural gas. That will not be replaced by coal.

Who would benefit the most from destroying the Federal Reserve? There’s your white man right there.

Apparently, the replacement is going to be a Moderate R and supporter of Janet Yellen’s policies. Well as of today. By tomorrow it could be the mouldering shade of Ayn Rand.

The problem is he got chunks of his large and small gut shot out, along with half of his liver and he almost bled out. Still in critical condition and in the ICU. I don’t think he’s much of a threat right now. They want to keep him alive to determine the means of his radicalization. I’m betting interwebs as opposed to a local mosque in Florida..

Man Accused in New York Terror Attack Had Been Ticketed Four Times on Nebraska Roads (goes to the Scottsbluff, NE Star-Herald, more at the link):

The man identified as the pickup truck driver who killed eight people and injured 11 in New York on Tuesday has been ticketed four times in Nebraska for trucking-related offenses since 2011, most recently in February.

A search of Nebraska records shows Sayfullo H. Saipov, 29, a commercial truck driver, was cited on Feb. 4 on suspicion of having an overweight truck. He was stopped on westbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 415 in Cass County. The fine was $75, which a Cass County Court record shows he paid in June.

Seems that way from reading the case excerpts Rukmini Callimachi posted: they apparently have already found a trove of links to ISIS media outreach (i.e. exhortations to terrorism) on the one cellphone he had (? and maybe more ?) - and (though no surprise) the few interviews I’ve seen with people who knew him are mainly the usual head-scratching and shoulder-shrugging… what’s Uzbek for “who knew?”??

April 9, 1965), the sparkling new Astrodome, known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, played host to the first Major League Baseball game ever played indoors as the Astros defeated the New York Yankees, 2-1, in what was an exhibition.

I remember the first day games, in which the glare from the ceiling windows was so bright they had to paint them over. The Astros finally winning the series after such a long time is remarkable.

re: #61 FormerDirtDart

Still think it’s more likely less would have gotten done. Since all the Trump administration has accomplished is undoing Obama policies. And, they’ve done a lot of that.

The government would still be intact; the Justice Department would be concerned about justice; the EPA would be protecting the environment; the ACA would still have its subsidies. Good legislation may not have been passed but bad legislation would be prevented. So, life would be much better than now. But it is certainly possible with Hillary as President, the GOP would gain even more power during the 2018 elections.

Let’s see how this plays out. Perhaps Mueller will save the Republic

375
S'latch  Nov 2, 2017 • 5:26:09am

As one senior Republican put it “The walls are closing in and everyone is freaking out.”

As Stephen Colbert put it: “Oh, are they? Do they wake up every morning feeling overwhelming dread that something terrible is happening in our country that they have no control over? I have no idea how that feels if I drink enough.”

Then, I cried.
