Donald Trump Jr. Tweets Secret Exchange With Wikileaks

Right after Julian Assange tried to deny it
Politics • Views: 111,529

First, read Julia Ioffe’s bombshell article: The Secret Correspondence Between Donald Trump Jr. and WikiLeaks.

Then, I hope you’re sitting down because Trump Jr. just tweeted screenshots of the entire exchange he had with Wikileaks (which was probably Julian Assange). And man oh man, is this ever some sleazy shit.

What makes this even more absurd and hilarious (in a disturbing way) is that right before Trump Jr. decided to just blurt it all out, Julian Assange took to Twitter to say he couldn’t confirm the existence of the exchange, and accused The Atlantic of editing and lying about the messages.

UPDATE at 11/13/17 5:49:28 pm by Charles Johnson

The Wall Street Journal’s Byron Tau picks up on another jaw-dropping connection to these new revelations:

Next week, we find out Donny Jr. “forgot” to tell everyone he met Assange face to face.

I bet there will be more emails. More incriminating ones he hopes aren’t found.

Where’s that I just list standards…. because I can’t even…

Trumps are dumber than a bag of hammers, and it’s as though they’ve become rich despite themselves. Guess that’s what happens when you inherit your wealth and are successful at conning others out of their money.

But this again reinforces the fact that wikileaks isn’t an innocent bystander in all this. They were the useful medium by which Russia was manipulating the media and election outcome by misinforming the public, taking sides, and Trump thought that wikileaks would be benefiting him.

The timeline of events also shows how tightly bound the campaign became to wikileaks. That’s not by accident.

These numbnuts don’t think beyond what agitprop specialists like Hannity want them to believe. They don’t understand the consequences of their actions, or that they’re the ones out money for buying products and destroying them to show support with an alleged (though the evidence is piling up faster than Trump can trot out piles of paper to show his tax returns) child molester and sex predator.

70
Belafon  Nov 13, 2017 • 5:51:58pm

I’m in chapter 2 of Battle Cry of Freedom, just starting in the part where the Whig party is coming apart. One of the passages that felt really applicable to now is the changing attitude of slavery in the south. It was first viewed as a necessary evil by Southerners, but, as the institution came under attack, the South decided it was a great thing, beneficial to both the country and blacks. It reminds me of this: The more Moore is attacked, the more Alabamians will consider it an attack on them, and they will fight it, no matter what it says about them.

I’m not saying we should stop, it’s just the first chapter and a half feel like the last 10 years.

AISD moves to rename remaining schools with Confederate ties by August

Five Austin district campuses with names tied to the Confederacy will get new names by August, under a proposal by district administrators.

The school board tonight will discuss the proposal to change the names of the following schools:

the Allan facility (former Allan Elementary), named for John T. Allan, an officer in the Confederate Army;

Fulmore Middle School, named for Zachary Taylor Fulmore, a private in the Confederate Army;

Lanier High School, named for Sidney Lanier, a noted poet who fought for the Confederacy;

Reagan High School, named for John H. Reagan, the Confederacy’s postmaster general;

Eastside Memorial High School at the Johnston campus, named for Confederate Gen. Albert S. Johnston.

Okay, let me see if I’ve got this straight: The entire wingnut argument for why Mueller should recuse himself from the Russia investigation, hell the argument that the entire investigation is a “hoax,” is Mueller was FBI director for a period of time when his agents were investigating a bribery case involving a company looking to buy a Canadian company that owned a uranium mine in the US.

The same people who support this argument figure the AG who has claimed to have recused himself from the entire Russia investigation and has committed perjury twice by making provably false statements about said investigation should appoint a special counsel of his choosing to look into that uranium deal and the actions of the FBI itself over the previous two years.

True, a boycott won’t won’t frighten the fundy/base monster a bit, but it will scare the shit out of the 1%er Frankensteins who created that base. That may be what’s happening now with so many “establishment” (corporate bottom line) Republicans calling for Moore to step down.

re: #106 Brian J.

You clearly have more faith in these guys than I do. They care nothing about the law, even the law they write themselves.

But what they DO care about is the PR, and its (any) possible political repercussions. I notice Sessions’ weasel-wording: “evaluate concerns raised by Republicans”. I can easily see Ole Jeff - in concert with the usual House creatures - hashing together some sort of Benghazi Boogaloo-type of circus for the mouthbreathers to try to deflect attention from the Administration’s much-more-blatant problems. But I think that level of Investigation Theater is about the max that they can try. But then there’s that pesky PR problem: if DoJ and the House GOP (and I can’t see many, if any Dems signing on for an obvious witch-hunt) try to get any mileage out of the “Clinton Uranium Scandal” , its lack of evidence, general bogosity and glaring deflectionism is probably going to simply make the GOP look worse (if that’s possible).
Oh, and just IMO: if the Administration actually WERE to take any steps to “Lock Her Up” - i.e. file any civil or criminal action against Mrs Clinton? I’m guessing it ends in the most serious governmental crisis in the country’s history. One which isn’t going to end well for the Trump regime.

bratwurst  Nov 13, 2017 • 6:40:58pm

I will never understand why people get excited by the occasional “reasonable” Joe Walsh tweet. It’s like all of the dozens of stories about the “new” Glenn Beck who regrets having called Obama a racist or comparing Al Gore to Hitler.

I guess there is an element of human nature that desires to see horrible people redeemed.

Though, really, I don’t get why CONCEALED carry of firearms is okay, but OPEN carry of swords is controversial.

A properly balanced sword is the most versatile weapon for close quarters ever devised…A sword never jams, never has to be reloaded, is always ready. Its worst shortcoming is that it takes great skill and patient, loving practice to gain that skill; it can’t be taught to raw recruits in weeks, nor even months.
