Family Research Council Head Tony Perkins Covered Up Sexual Assault by “Rising Star” Candidate Wesley Goodman

Politics • Views: 34,397

In today’s episode of the ongoing farce known as “Republican family values,” the Washington Post reports that two years ago, the virulently anti-gay head of the Family Research Council, Tony Perkins, swept a sexual assault by “rising star” Ohio legislature candidate Wesley Goodman under the rug and failed to report it.

And Goodman’s assault was against a teenage boy, for another bit of disgusting hypocrisy.

The young man involved in the 2015 hotel room episode said Goodman first approached him outside a Ritz-Carlton ballroom while urging young people to come to a party on Capitol Hill.

“One of the young guys didn’t want to go, and Wes really made fun of him and told him he ‘had a vagina’ and made sarcastic remarks about him being like a woman,” the young man wrote in a statement sent to Perkins on Oct. 25.

When the group eventually returned to the Ritz-Carlton, “Wes pushed me to come to his room,” and offered to let him share his bed, he wrote.

In his written statement, the young man said he awoke in the middle of the night to find Goodman’s hand “pulling down my zipper.” His pants had been unbuttoned and his zipper was down. He darted from the room at about 4 a.m. “I was shaken, dazed, confused and very upset,” he wrote.

Caution for auto-play video.

A former Fox News employee said the network blocked her from going to Moscow to investigate President Donald Trump’s links with Russia, one of several claims of news bias at 21st Century Fox Inc. made by former and current workers opposing its takeover of Sky Plc.

“You can’t do in-depth reporting if you’re not there,” said Jessica Golloher, a former Fox Radio correspondent who is suing the division for gender discrimination, at a gathering with U.K. lawmakers and citizens in Parliament on Monday. “Fox didn’t let me go to Moscow to dig into Trump’s Russian connections, even when I offered to pay my own way.”

They don’t care if there’s a conspiracy between Trump and Putin. The ends (power) justify the means (espionage).

Rebecca Traister‏:

“…The media is breaking the news here; the media is also deeply implicated in this news and still shaping how the tale is getting told. Ours is an industry, like so many others, dominated by white men at the top; they have made the decisions about what to cover and how, and they still do.

The pervasiveness of these power imbalances and the way they affect how even this story itself is being told are instructive. Here is something you should know, from inside a publication: For every one of these stories of harassment and predation finally seeing the light of day, reporters are hearing dozens more that will not be published, because women won’t go on the record in an industry still run by the people they want to name, or because the men in question aren’t powerful enough to interest those who are powerful enough to decide what has news value, or because the damage these men are alleged to have done seems insignificant on a scale that has recently been drawn to accommodate the trespasses of Harvey Weinstein, and of writer-director James Toback, named by more than 300 women (whose accounts he denies).”

I can’t answer that. All of us are hunkered down wondering if we always were good guys, whether there’s someone in our past who felt differently.

27
majii  Nov 20, 2017 • 3:35:39pm

Why is there always some other thing some of these guys blame or use to explain why they harass women? I found the following about Thrush on Wikipedia:

“Thrush is married to Diane Webber and lives in Kensington, Maryland. They have twin sons, Nathaniel and Charles. In November 2017, Thrush was accused of groping three women and was suspended by The New York Times. He said he will soon begin out-patient treatment for alcoholism. “We support his decision to enter a substance-abuse program,” said the Times.”
en.wikipedia.org

One of my uncles was an alcoholic and died from cirrhosis of the liver, and he didn’t have a history of sexually harassing women. I know others who are/were alcoholics and were never/ have never been accused of sexually harassing anyone. I’m fed up with the guys who have been accused of sexual harassment against males and females and after being exposed, they seek some kind of “treatment” for some kind of “problem” they say they’ve been dealing with. I guess what I’m trying to say is that if they knew these “problems” were causing them problems in their dealings with others, why didn’t they address those “problems” before the sexual harassment allegations became public? I see these “problems” and their sudden decision to “seek treatment” after being exposed as a cop-out, an attempt to garner sympathy from some others for their “struggles,” and an attempt to avoid accepting full responsibility for their bad behavior.

Mrs. FBW and I were discussing this yesterday. She doesn’t remember a lot of incidents in her life - indeed I had to remind her of the two I knew of. She was surprised when I told her how bad Biotech used to be back in the 1980s, when there was definitely the belief that ‘Women in Biotech have to be tough!” She didn’t think Science nerds would be that bad. I pointed out that there was not only a lot of immaturity, but also a lot of wanting to belong that you find among introverts.

Turns out there’s lots of things like that - including the fact that football players may have been showing symptoms of CTE for years before anyone put 2 and 2 together. Take the case of Fred McNeill, who went from the NFL, graduated from an elite law school to become partner, only to watch it all fall apart as his brain failed him.

In many of these cases, people suspected drugs, alcohol, and inability to control spending urges for downturns in these players’ fortunes.

What’s increasingly likely is that CTE was eating away their brains and no one knew about.

re: #84 lawhawk

I know the road where she was driving 119. Route 17 west of Binghamton. I drive it a couple times a year.

It’s simply impossible for her to not know she was going that fast. It’s got lots of curves/turns and really isn’t meant to be driven that fast (god knows, I’ve tried). Anything above 75 gets hairy, especially at night (deer and all).

She’s going nearly 2x the speed limit (65). Suspended license is the least that can be done.

How could she not know, anyway? The speedometer is in a prominent location on the dashboard. It’s hard not to see it even if you’re focused on the windshield view.

It looks like he’s changed because he thinks it’s easier to win in that district as a Republican than a Democrat. I dunno. I honestly have no idea what made him think he was qualified for DNC chair. Not to be dismissive but I’m probably as qualified as he was.

When I click on a Twitter name with the “at” sign, it takes me to the sign-in page.

The way I get into Twitter to look for interesting tweets is I first click on another tweet someone else posted (the timestamp), then use the search bar to look for people or hashtags.

Okay, so you guys know I’m into genealogical research. Learning some stuff about marriage that really I think turns the wingnut view of sex only after marriage morality on its head. Apparently in Germany, before marriage, couples would try to see if the woman was fertile before marriage. And also it wasn’t that uncommon for people to marry older. So much of what wingnuts claim is “traditional values” isn’t really traditional at all. It’s their 1950’s view of things.

The whole “no sex before marriage” deal was merely advisory in the past, not a requirement. Plenty of kids were born less than nine months after their parents’ marriage date. People out on the frontier in the American colonies would also live together sans official marriage ceremonies or documentation, because there was no one there to perform said officiating.

The no-sex-before-marriage thing is the logical extreme of the evangelical churches’ drive to prevent young unwed mothers, back-alley abortions, and shotgun weddings. The church in general has always looked unfavorably on sleeping around, but the evangelical concept of a soulmate (which idea is not found anywhere in Scripture, it’s a pure invention of the concept that God controls all and has “pre-ordained” the person you should marry) gave them an excuse to come down hard on pre-marital sex. And my generation is the one that is suffering for it; I have had several conversations with a couple of other Christian friends that have struggled with marital intimacy. I’m not trying to suggest that we should all slut it up as a matter of normal course - some people, myself included, just aren’t inclined to that as a facet of their personality - but we can’t dive into a marriage and know nothing about how our bodies respond to sex, or the mechanics of how to please a member of the opposite sex (for the heterosexuals).

China has a parallel problem. Lack of adequate sex ed leaves many young couples at risk of unwanted pregnancies, and ill advised marriages that later fall apart because they were forced by families to save face. Chinese schools, even universities, try to limit the problem by strictly enforcing parietals and single-sex dorms with matrons/masters standing guard, and marriage during one’s college years is strictly forbidden. Get pregnant as a college student? Your only choices are abortion or withdrawal from school and marriage.

Oddly, though, condoms are readily available at every supermarket and convenience store, usually near the checkout lanes. Their proper use, though, is probably a mystery to most teens and even most adults here.

My female students have told me single women in China have a hard time obtaining The Pill, for several reasons: social stigma (using The Pill means you’re a slut), doctor resistance (see previous entry, also docs are biased toward prescribing The Pill to married women), and lack of awareness it’s even available.

Anyway, I took them both out to a long stretch of rarely traveled central Illinois roadway (Bondville Road, for those keeping score). I have no idea how fast the Valiant was going. The speedometer was broken. But I doubt I broke 100. The Catalina broke 100 without a sweat. Massive engine.

I was plodding along at the speed limit (I am still in trauma recovery after getting a written warning a few weeks ago for 70 in a 60), and some clown blew past me in a truck with Wyoming plates doing at least 90.

The speedometer was broken. But I doubt I broke 100. The Catalina broke 100 without a sweat. Massive engine.

None of that is truly noteworthy. But I was bored, depressed, and alone at night. It’s a wonder I’m alive.

I once took my 1970 Dodge Dart (Slant 6) up to 100 mph. Only once. The power steering ended up feeling like the front end of the car was lifting off the ground.

Drove the Autobahn in Germany. There is no way you don’t know you are going over 130mph. There is a reason German cars didn’t have cup holder.

Hands on the wheel at all time.

Found it exhausting at first.

My mother told me when I was young - alcohol shows us the real man. If someone is a mean drunk, he is a mean person; an abusive drunk, an abusive person - and a happy cheerful drunk - a happy cheerful person. Throughout my life I have found this to be true.

My brother once demonstrated to me that Mom’s 1966 Ford station wagon would reach 100. About 10 years later, I was driving it, trying to keep up with a buddy, and looked down at the speedo. >90 on a two-lane road. It felt REALLY FAST. I stopped trying to keep up.

Fastest I’ve gone in the Challenger was also a bit over 90, trying to get to ahead of traffic before the offramp. 90 felt no different from 80, which feels no different from 70. Modern cars are just so much better.

Depends on the cat. My tuxedo Li’l Baby, a shelter cat abandoned very young, apparently learned the scratching lesson but not the scratch-where instruction. She puts her back end in the litter box to do her business, but since her front paws are outside the box, she scratches there. Then she scratches the side of the box and, often, the nearby wall. But never inside the box. I guess you could say she just thinks outside the box.

re: #117 HappyWarrior

Okay, so you guys know I’m into genealogical research. Learning some stuff about marriage that really I think turns the wingnut view of sex only after marriage morality on its head. Apparently in Germany, before marriage, couples would try to see if the woman was fertile before marriage. And also it wasn’t that uncommon for people to marry older. So much of what wingnuts claim is “traditional values” isn’t really traditional at all. It’s their 1950’s view of things.

I’m also deep into genealogical research. In the 1800s England/Scotland I began to think it was compulsory for women to be pregnant on marriage because so many of my ancestors followed this pattern. The view of no sex before marriage appears to have started 1920s & continued through the 1960s when fortunately men started being called out on their one sided moral views.

From the college I first attempted to get a degree at:

A researcher at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is using computer science to help fight the growing problem of crowdturfing—a troublesome pheneomon in which masses of online workers are paid to post phony reviews, circulate malicious tweets, and even spread fake news. Funded by a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, assistant professor Kyumin Lee has developed algorithms that have proven highly accurate in detecting fake “likes” and followers across various platforms like Amazon, Facebook, and Twitter.

Using machine learning and predictive modeling, Lee builds algorithms that sift through the posted tasks looking for patterns that his research has shown are associated with these illegitimate tasks: for example, higher hourly wages or jobs that involve manipulating or posting information on particular websites or clicking on certain kinds of links. The algorithm can identify the malicious organizations posting the tasks, the websites the crowdturfers are told to target, and even the workers who are signing up to complete the tasks.

Looking next at the targeted websites, the predictive algorithms can gauge the probability that new users are, in fact, there to carry out assigned crowdturfing tasks—for example “liking” content on social media sites or “following” certain social media users. In Lee’s research, the algorithms have detected fake likes with 90 percent accuracy and fake followers with 99 percent accuracy.

Even in the late 80s, because my family didn’t have a whole lot of money and Abilene was still kinda backwater even for its size, I didn’t know there was a whole lot to do with computers (and being the first kid from my family ever in college, I didn’t know you could switch majors), so, even though I loved computers, I went into physics. I think, if I had known more, I would have switched to computer science, and my life would have been significantly different.

I think the GTI might have topped out under 115 mph, not that I ever pushed it that far.

The Challenger is electronically limited to about 145, which can be removed if your tires are rated higher than the stock ones. That apparently will get you to about 160.

I used to drive the hell out of the GTI. I don’t think I ever upshifted below 4000 rpm. I used all the accelerator’s travel, A LOT.

The Challenger? I’ve floored it a couple times, when nobody was around. Holy Shit!

Let’s just say I don’t drive it anywhere near the edge of its envelope.

A lot of people don’t realize that the limiters are mostly due to tires and suspension, not a limitation of the engine or transmission. My wife’s Town Car is limited to around 110, but the core components are the same as a Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser (minus some top-end horsepower), and it could probably do 150 all day long and not even notice if the tires or air suspension wouldn’t explode at the slightest provocation.

Exactly. You find out what tires mean when you replace VR rated tires on your very fast sports car. I had bought the Ford Probe GT when it came out in ‘89. 125 mph with room still under the accelerator.

Funny thing is, the really high rated summer tires are actually cheaper. But you only get about 10,000 miles out of a set.

“Sign of the Cross? No way! I was checking to see that everything important is still there - Spectacles, testicles, wallet, and watch!”***

The fastest I ever had my Smart was 95 mph, the very first time I drove it (on I-76 near Sterling, Colo). I was unused to our new car, and damn, I didn’t know the tiny little 1 litre 3 banger could go that fast.

I agree. I have traveled and lived in cities and now live in the same area as my family where we grew up. Graduated college. Etc etc etc.

My brother stayed here, tried college, worked in the factory that was here drives a big truck, and has never been away from the area on his own for a long period of time.

He has a good heart but I have told him before to not speak about politics if he doesn’t know what he is talking about.

The whole “You’re the problem if you’re offended” subculture just drives me nuts. Okay, yeah I can’t stop what you say among friends and no I don’t want to put you in jail but why do you have to be a jerk? Why do you have to make “retarded” a word you use for people? Can’t something just be “fucking stupid.” I’m no prude but I’m no fan of being an asshole just for the sake of being an asshole and thinking it’s edgy.

So I noticed an interesting sponsor from from Sean Hannity has ditched him…. Last Spring I was looking for conceal carry insurance and in Googling around came across one company that had Hannity plastered all over their website recommending it. Of course I was like “No way” and moved on.

Well today I was wondering about what ever happened to that so I tried to remember what company that was. Don’t think it was NRA. They have Dana Loesch as their spokesidiot, and I hate the NRA anyway. So I had to hunt around on web archive to see what company he used to pitch….

No mention of him now on their site. Looks like they ditched him around end of July.

Pretty bad when even a pro gun company thinks having Hannity associated with them is too toxic!

Nice image. First generation 35mm Kodachrome. ASA10. Ususal cameras of the day, that’s probably something like f/4 ~ 5.6 (from DOF) & 1/4 ~ 1/8 second at the fastest. That’s part of why I’d have probably been shooting Verichrome at the time (since Tri-X was still a few years away…) though a small bulb with a reflector bounced off a wall might do the trick too for Type A Kodachrome.

This is pretty cool: Astronomers found an object that’s made of stuff outside our solar system:

Now, new data reveal the interstellar interloper to be a rocky, cigar-shaped object with a somewhat reddish hue. The asteroid, named ‘Oumuamua by its discoverers, is up to one-quarter mile (400 meters) long and highly-elongated—perhaps 10 times as long as it is wide. That aspect ratio is greater than that of any asteroid or comet observed in our solar system to date. While its elongated shape is quite surprising, and unlike asteroids seen in our solar system, it may provide new clues into how other solar systems formed.

The observations and analyses were funded in part by NASA and appear in the Nov. 20 issue of the journal Nature. They suggest this unusual object had been wandering through the Milky Way, unattached to any star system, for hundreds of millions of years before its chance encounter with our star system.

“For decades we’ve theorized that such interstellar objects are out there, and now - for the first time - we have direct evidence they exist,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. “This history-making discovery is opening a new window to study formation of solar systems beyond our own.”

Immediately after its discovery, telescopes around the world, including ESO’s Very Large Telescope in Chile and other observatories around the world were called into action to measure the object’s orbit, brightness and color. Urgency for viewing from ground-based telescopes was vital to get the best data.

There is reportedly a surprise bid on the table for The Weinstein Company: a $275 million offer from a businesswoman and former Obama official who wants to transform the beleaguered studio into an “inspiring” organization led by women.

Maria Contreras-Sweet, who served as the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration during President Barack Obama’s tenure, submitted the offer to acquire TWC earlier this month. The Wall Street Journal, which broke the news Sunday, said the bid was the first for the company to be publicly reported.

Contreras-Sweet, founder and former executive chairwoman of ProAmerica Bank, wrote a letter to TWC’s board on Nov. 8 expressing a desire to acquire the studio’s assets and to transform the organization into one led by women.

She also says she intends to retain most or all of the employees, and set up a litigation fund and mediation process for victims of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged depredations.

It is her intent to have the company majority-controlled by women.

My best friend in high school had a souped up ex-police cruiser. Since we were both into fast cars he decided to show off late one evening, when there was no traffic. Speedometer topped out at 140, but the needle went way past that. Later discovered that we’d been going 168 mph.

At least that’s what the cops said when they finally caught us after we ran through the speed trap. 3 police cars, I was sure we were going to jail. But the first words from the cop who came to the window? “What the hell you got under the hood, kid? Almost gave myself a hernia pushing the gas to catch you!” Told my friend they need people in the State Troopers who could drive and he should consider joining.

Did I just reveal that I’m white?

Oh, and I’ll never ever ride as a passenger in a car going that fast again. Ever. Having been scared shitless, I discovered I no longer give a shit about fast cars.

No offense to the Smart drivers out there, but after the number of accidents I or someone close to me has been in where a semi or dump truck is involved, and some of them didn’t survive… I’m sorry. Half way up the hill he let go of it, I went into the air with the rope, my binding popped, and I caught the front of the ski between my eyebrow and eye. So much blood.

Honestly at the same price point as most high end sports cars I’d rather have a luxury sedan. Of course my Dad is getting set to splurge on a Tesla S P100D next year so I’ll get to experience the best of both worlds, ludicrous speed in a luxury sedan.

I like these charge stats on the Tesla: 96.7h at 110V, 10.72h at 220V, 1.33h at 440V

I wonder if they could do bicycle generator as well.

re: #370 Quoth the raven, Covfefe.

I can understand that very well. Myself, I’m a bit gunshy about people driving smaller cars. No offense to the Smart drivers out there, but after the number of accidents I or someone close to me has been in where a semi or dump truck is involved, and some of them didn’t survive… I’m sorry. There is a minimum limit to the size of car I will even put myself in. My loved ones have a much bigger minimum.

Essentially, a Smart is a race-car safety cage with an engine and an in-dash stereo.

I messed up my Smart’s body panels pretty good with the second deer I hit at 60. Took a few days to fix. The first deer I hit at 60 caused no damage at all.

I’d rather just not hit anything though.

I can remember Mikey Gebhardt. I was drinking with him in the bar I worked at the night before he died. His younger brother was there, it was a raucous time. Mikey asked me if I wanted to go skiing with them the next day up on Buffalo Pass, I had to decline because of work.

He died the next day, buried in three feet of snow in a moderate-sized slide on Soda Mountain, on 3 January 2005. His brother dug him out, about 15 minutes after he had been buried.

That one hurt, I’m slightly weeping as I type.

Lubbock Man Arrested for Claiming to Be CIA at Local Bar

Lubbock Police arrested Seth Colt Jackson, 36, of Lubbock early Sunday morning for impersonating a public servant, false ID as a peace officer, and public intoxication.

Police said officers responded to Texas Café & Bar, 3604 50th Street, for the report of a disturbance.

Officers said a man was walking around the bar, asking other people to buy narcotics for him.

“According to one of the employees, the suspect stated that he was ‘undercover’ and was with the CIA, along with the Department of Defense (DOD),” police said. “The suspect claimed that he was a ‘special agent’ for both agencies.”

Coke falls somewhere between pot and Heroin. I’ve tried it once. It made the roof of my mouth numb, and a little more made my jaw very unpleasantly tight. Not a positive experience at all. Other people enjoy it and some get compulsive about it. A few die suddenly.

I used to ride a motorcycle, and got rear-ended at high-speed once by a drunk on an expressway. To me a motorcycle is more dangerous than coke, but neither hold an attraction to me at 51.

I’ll vape pot extracts again if in a place where it’s legal.

I was given morphine for a wisdom tooth extraction in 1970. It felt so good that I swore never to try smack, and stuck to that even in my drug-culture days. I did acid for over a decade (till the stuff I could get was too weak to be worth it) and still smoke pot. But coke … fortunately I couldn’t afford it very often, because (as lots of people have testified) the primary effect of coke is to make you want to do more coke. I liked it, and I stopped. And I never did very much, but it sure is dangerous.

For decades The Pill was illegal in Japan as well - that’s why Japan has a batshit crazy condom market…

My wife’s mother spent her entire life in a wheelchair. She came down with polio in 1949 and died in 1997. The disease robbed her of the ability to walk.

My mother came down with polio in 1955 or so. The town doc used the experimental Sister Kenny Method to help keep her limbs supple and such (the treatment accepted then was to brace everything so it couldn’t move). My mother recovered sufficiently so she could join the US Navy. Today however she has post-polio syndrome.

The 110 / 220 mobile connector is just there in case you ignore all the onboard warnings directing you to the nearest in range charging station but still manage to luck out and find an outlet someone will let you hook up to.

Downhill. Skiing.

I follow auto racing and worked around it too. So, you know my feeling about autos. I love the engineering and the feel of driving one well. Not so much fast as quick. A difference and one a good driver works to achieve.

Many racing drivers are also skiers because they use much of the same approach. Lines, balance, controlled speed, etc.

If you see a car as a thing to go from A to B, then you’d never get into racing. If you find you love to drive, then you get it.

But the real beauty is it is a big world, and there are all kinds of things that we do that are dangerous if you think about it.

Humans love thrills too. It’s complicated.

Yeah why give this info to someone who clearly doesn’t respect women at all?

Because it’s an obvious political hit. The person who tipped off Cernovich wouldn’t be someone who worked for Conyers, they would have gone to a mainstream outlet. Given the scope of the documents, it’s almost certainly an alt right Magat burrowed in to the OOC who initially obtained the documents and provided them to Cernovich. It distracts from the Roy Moore issue, adds to the narrative that the Democrats have a sexual assault problem (just watch the framing from the hacks over the next few days) and it burnishes Cernovich’s credibility so we get to experience the Press taking his next dozen or so conspiracy theories seriously.

That means, if the Democrats have a way to get all of this information out on all offenders out there, they had better do it or find some way to do it or there is going to be selective leaking of all the violations of Democrats while the Republicans remain concealed.

Bitcoin is just this century’s Tulip Mania…..

Probably, but it’ll be replaced with other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, which was engineered to stay as a distributed financial transaction processing system that runs on off the shelf GPUs. Bitcoin started like that, as a people’s currency without wealthy bankers skimming off of all transactions via fees, but very smart people figured out how to mine faster with ASICs, often in huge mining farms, and put the little guys out of business.

The Cryptocurrency concept is brilliant, and has been used on a small scale to replace money in failed states with hyperinflation of their own currency.

re: #448 Belafon

I did motorcycles for a year, until I laid mine down and cracked my fibula. I decided I just don’t have the temperament for riding: I want to get to point B as soon as possible. I have never enjoyed the ride.

I try not to speed, and I use my cruise control a lot to keep myself from doing it. But I will do whatever I can to get passed people who drive past me fast and then drop to ten mph below the speed limit when they approach a semi. It drives me nuts.

I enjoyed riding a lot, but I did lay it down several times on oily roads, and getting rear-ended at high-speed gave me wrist and neck trouble for about 5 years. I could very easily have been killed when rear-ended. The drunk destroyed the back of my bike, but I got lucky and the bike stayed attached to his car as I steered with his skid.

I bought another bike the next day after the accident, but years later gave it up because I’m not going to heal as fast at my age, and don’t want to suffer in horrible pain.

A new-nazi who works at CVS has assured me that the US had practically no industry before World War II and it was all stolen and looted after the German people unaccountably defeated themselves. When I asked where all those tanks and ships came from he became agitated and piously declared that he had to conceal his German heritage because “it is now against the law to be a German.” In that case, I should report the song of a bitch. Oh yeah, he is from Lubbock.

Hmmm…
Well, I guess we now know who the “currently serving” Democrat member of Congress who was mentioned as having settled sexual harassment cases with tax payer money last week.

Got to say, that reads like a resignation is in order.

“… Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), the longest-serving current House member, reportedly settled a wrongful dismissal complaint in 2015 after a former employee accused him of firing her for resisting his “sexual advances.”

Four former staffers signed affidavits, three of which were notarized, saying that Conyers, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, repeatedly made engaged in unwanted sexual behavior with his female staff, BuzzFeed News reported Monday night.

Documents examined by BuzzFeed described a wide-range of inappropriate conduct, including making requests for sexual favors, caressing and touching, as well as having his staff contact and transport women they believed were sexually involved with him.

Four unnamed sources who were involved with the case confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the documents are authentic. …”

It doesn’t matter to my liberal friends on other sites. A perceived forced kiss and a perceived hand on butt are enough to end his career post haste. I hate it, too. But this is how we get actual anti-women legislation.

It’s not perceived. A woman knows when a guy has just grabbed her ass. I wasn’t so sure about the credibility of the first woman, but I’m not questioning the second one at all, and that happened when Franken was in office. I’m sorry, but they all have to go. Period. Replace them all with liberal women. I don’t care. It’s time for men to get the message that women are sick and tired of all the shit, from the small to the large offenses, and it’s not acceptable under any circumstances. Yeah. I’m one of those women.

So this is where we tell fast-driving stories?

I drove half way from Chicago to St Louis at 100mph in a Chevette. When I popped the hood at a rest stop, the exhaust manifold was glowing white. I thought “was that white?” Then it cooled to orange, then to red… I took it easier the rest of the way.

I’m surprised a Chevette made it over 75.
