I was going to title this “The Craziest Alex Jones Video Clip Ever,” but there’s so much competition I had to qualify it slightly. But it’s pretty damned jaw-dropping.

And Jones is one of our so-called president’s sources of news. Seriously. He really is. I know, right?

It’s just an opinion. But many of these Senators grew up with real understandings of government, civics and history. They know good from bad. That is what I really believe. They at some point in their past wanted to be good politicians.

So to me, they are going against their own values for their career expediency. You have to go through a lot of inner thought contortions to do that…to become this craven to their big money. They are humans, and evil they are, they have to have a sense they made their decision to be so.

And that leads to drinking and such. Big denial.

I feel awful for the young woman’s family and I think a jury definitely would have convicted for manslaughter but you can’t just convict someone of murder because the prosecution errs and overcharges someone. Fear, anger and hatred trigger the ‘flight-or-flight’ reflex which floods the body with exactly the same chemicals as crack.

It’s why I refer to the aristocrats and barbarians masquerading as conservatives as addicts.

It would be healthier for the country if they switched to crack.

Big denial.

Some do, some don’t. Some are like Tom Cotton who grew up on Fox and have completely drunk the right wing Kool aid. He’s the scary kind; dumb as a box of rocks but a true believer in radical right wing ideology.

It would. Anger addiction is socially acceptable in a lot of places and not a source of social stigma. Crack, not so much.

The wingnuts would be cut off from society if they switched to crack and lose a lot of their influence. Dealers like The Ministry of Truth; excuse me, Fox News; Jones, Limbaugh and Brietbart would go out of business.

It’s not as though it’s a difficult task. You can even do it while condensing the brackets.

Double the standard deduction. Condense the first two tax brackets into a single bracket at 10%. Condense the next two to a single bracket at 25% Condense the next two into a single bracket at 35%. Make the current top bracket 40%. Add a new top bracket for income over 1 million at 50%.

Leave everything else the same. Big tax break for middle class supported by higher taxes on millionaires. Fewer total brackets.

My comments were more toward the elder Republican Senators 60 and up in age.

There are many. They were of the period where civics and history were taught more thoroughly. They had better examples of politicians to emulate. That could have been a cold war/America feeling its oats kind of thing because of the times.

And they claim they are from when America was better.

So, they have decided to not go with their own educations and become bitter old farts that have control and they are going to make everyone pay for that bitterness.

Tom Cotton and the other’s like Cruz and Rubio are just bad actor politicians. I don’t expect them to do right because they are following in the footprints of their elders.

Because I work for a DOD conctractor, we count lines of code to determine budgets (I hate the process). I’m on a committee for considering new languages to support via our line counter. The tool we use to enter the data in doesn’t have every language, so you have to map some languages to an equivalent one. We noticed that the tool was mapping Python to Java and Perl to Basic. That’s because Perl is older than Python or Java, but it was funny.

I don’t think it’s going to be as easy as a lot of people seem to think.

If it was the lock that it’s being hyped as, the vote wold have happened today. But it didn’t. And the longer it takes, it’s starting to become obvious just how horrible it is.

And the more people realize how damaging it will be, the chances of it failing go way up. I won’t say it’ll definitely fail, but there’s a very good chance that it will.

And that would, indeed, be fucking awesome.

re: #206 HappyWarrior

You know what happened is tragic but it seems to me that a murder conviction was hard to reach here. I feel awful for the young woman’s family and I think a jury definitely would have convicted for manslaughter but you can’t just convict someone of murder because the prosecution errs and overcharges someone. And as already gotten at, he is being punished for other crimes that he was convicted for.

I’m not sure that even a manslaughter charge could have been sustained. Last I heard, the defendant’s story was that he found a bag or rag (I can’t remember which) under a bench on the pier, realized there was something in it, picked it up and pulled the object out, which happened to be a gun that he fired accidentally while grasping it. Forensics stated that the bullet hit the surface of the pier something like fifty feet from the victim and bounced upward, striking her. Annie Oakley couldn’t have made this shot, and in fact the bullet might have hit almost anyone else on the pier. What’s more, there was never any suggestion of a motive or of any animus on the part of the defendant toward the victim. But IA most certainly NAL.
