The Trump Gang Is Prohibiting the CDC From Using Words That Describe Reality: Fetus, Transgender, Diversity

Politics • Views: 48,082

One of the non-violent ways authoritarian fascism takes root in a government is by controlling the language used to communicate with the public, eliminating the terms that expose the fascist agenda and replacing them with deceptive concepts that are easily manipulated instead.

And that’s exactly what is happening at the Centers for Disease Control, where the Trump administration is banning the use of words that aren’t considered politically correct on the extreme right: CDC gets list of forbidden words: Fetus, transgender, diversity.

The Trump administration is prohibiting officials at the nation’s top public health agency from using a list of seven words or phrases — including “fetus” and “transgender” — in official documents being prepared for next year’s budget.

Policy analysts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta were told of the list of forbidden words at a meeting Thursday with senior CDC officials who oversee the budget, according to an analyst who took part in the 90-minute briefing. The forbidden words are “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” “transgender,” “fetus,” “evidence-based” and “science-based.”

In some instances, the analysts were given alternative phrases. Instead of “science-based” or “evidence-based,” the suggested phrase is “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes,” the person said. In other cases, no replacement words were immediately offered.

Every time they need to say evidence-based, they should insert a description of the scientific method.

2018 is the last time we have a means of changing the direction of this country for the nexr 20 years or more. I feel with clear evidence mounting that Trump and his Republican cohorts will openly increase their flagrant anti-Constitutional behavior and even declare parts of it null and void or organize a quickly convened “New Constitution” convention kangaroo process creating a Evangelical Libertarian Utopia.

We have seen it coming, we have chosen as a nation to turn our heads and simply look away as it happens.

Navarro told the L.A. Times that someone he didn’t know sent the letter to his campaign via Facebook — which apparently he deemed was a reliable enough source to pump the letter out on social media.

“I don’t know if it’s real or not, so I put it out there,” Navarro said. “It doesn’t say that I know. It’s ‘according to this document’ … what, am I supposed to send it to her and get an email back from Maxine?”

Exact same excuse that Rage Furby used.

Kevin Drum has offered his own translation of the verboten terminology, for the benefit of the scientists at the CDC:

vulnerable —> snowflake
entitlement —> welfare
diversity —> anti-white
transgender —> deviant
fetus —> unborn child
evidence-based —> elitist
science-based —> atheist

From RP’s post and I agree 100%:
Democrats keep wanting to pretend that racist fucknuts can be appealed to based on class. It’s a comforting lie that is proven to be bullshit time and again. Roy Moore got 68% of the white vote, and that motherfucker was a wretched candidate before it was revealed he finger-fucked a 14 year-old. This country doesn’t belong exclusively to white people anymore. The Republicans are fighting a desperate battle to try to maintain that white dominance. They will lose.

Stolen California Voter Database Held For Ransom in Bitcoin:
gizmodo.com (more)

An Amazon AWS server believed to contain files on all of California’s registered voters was left exposed this year due to a misconfigured database, according to researchers at the Kromtech Security Center. The database was later stolen by cybercriminals demanding a ransom only payable in bitcoin.

Kromtech told Gizmodo that it collected samples from the database earlier this year while examining thousands of servers left publicly exposed. Each of the servers had installed a database platform known as MongoDB, which was widely misconfigured and vulnerable to attack.

While re-examining the data samples earlier this month, Kromtech discovered what appeared to be 4 GB of voter files linked to the State of California. By that time, however, the server had been swept up in a wave of ransomware attacks, which reportedly infected more than 32,000 MongoDB installations as early as January 2017.

So remember, folks: If you’re a Democrat and you label emails “private” and don’t turn those over, you’re “withholding evidence” and that’s proof that you’re a criminal.

But if you’re a Republican and you label them “privileged,” then investigators can’t see them without it being a major crime.

Well, well! abcnews.go.com

When President Donald Trump announced two months ago that he would not certify Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal, he automatically triggered a 60-day review period during which Congress could decide to snap tough economic sanctions on Iran back into place — a move that would effectively kill the landmark nuclear arms agreement.

That review period expired Tuesday, and the results are in: Congress chose not to act.

The Special Prosecutor, Mr. Mueller, is an extraordinary lawyer and knows the intricacies of Government law as if he had written it. So, I guess golfing with the yam, promoting the yam’s properties and lying for the yam wasn’t enough. Lindsey Graham is also participating in Sinclair’s propaganda broadcasts with the irrepressible Boris Epshteyn:

Seated across from Graham was Boris Epshteyn, whom a chyron described as “Chief Political Analyst.”

The 90-second segment, focusing on Graham’s efforts to repeal Obamacare, finished without any concluding remarks from Epshteyn or throwbacks to the show’s hosts. Instead, Graham warned the “Chief Political Analyst” that “if we don’t replace Obamacare, we’re going to have socialism for health care.” Then the screen faded to black and the station cut to its standard intro for “NBC25 News Today,” replete with all the whooshing transition graphics and b-roll one would expect.

And as if Flint doesn’t have enough to deal with—Sinclair has a major presence in Flint, owning or operating the local Fox, NBC and CW affiliates.

The air today in Los Angeles was just weird. For some hours we had offshore winds, blew lots of smoke back in at altitude, then it settled to ground again. The air was golden brown. Now the Santa Ana winds are back, cleared my air but raised hell in Santa Barbara.

That was really weird.

Couple weeks ago, I ran into multiple failures downloading some video files from a techie site. Turned out that my ISP had assigned to me a new public IPV4 address during that session. That usually only happens as a result of a local area power failure, or from my main router being powered off for more than a few minutes. A shutdown/restart cycle cleared up my issues.

I hear a lot of variations on “unfairness” and “let him do his thing” from people who have no idea what Trump’s positions are, or what fairness would be.

It’s scary because there’s zero followup. They don’t know or care what’s normal protocol, or what typical criticism, nor do they care to look at policy issues close enough to know what’s being achieved or not achieved.

Yet they’re completely confident they know enough, and get resentful if you know more. They don’t feel a burden of proof, expect others to convince them with exacting detail …and they won’t go look up stuff for themselves.

Like arguing in bad faith, but stupider, because you don’t know you’re doing it.

And they’re 90% white dudes, which I don’t think is a coincidence.

Get ready:
NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW—MUELLER FIRING RAPID RESPONSE

Donald Trump is publicly considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, the person leading the Department of Justice investigation of possible illegal actions by Donald Trump and members of his presidential campaign, and the efforts to conceal those activities.

This would be a constitutional crisis for our country. It would demand an immediate and unequivocal response to show that we will not tolerate abuse of power from Donald Trump.

Our response in the minutes and hours following a power grab will dictate what happens next, and whether Congress—the only body with the constitutional power and obligation to rein Trump in from his rampage—will do anything to stand up to him.

That’s why we’re preparing to hold emergency “Nobody is Above the Law” rallies around the country in the event they are needed.

Use the map or search below by ZIP code to find an event near you, or create one if none exists.

Rallies will begin hours after news breaks of a Mueller firing:

If Mueller is fired BEFORE 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ 5 P.M. local time
If Mueller is fired AFTER 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ noon local time the following day
This is the general plan—please confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.
This is our moment to stand up to protect our democracy. Let’s mobilize to show that we won’t let Donald Trump become the authoritarian that he aspires to be. The law applies to all of us, and it’s essential that it also applies to the most powerful people in our country.

We’ll be outraged while a lot of words will be spoken and typed out on the internet, but in the end it will be a new normal. The press will deploy their both siderism stance and treat this as something political when it’s probably criminal.

So I guess ultimately I want to ask why anybody here is optimistic about any of this? Does anybody really think Trump will be removed before 2020?

Modern American Conservatism is basically indistinguishable from the Nazi Party in Germany in 1933 or the Ku Klux Klan in Alabama in 1963.

I don’t disagree.

Question is, if it gets to a fever pitch in the next 48 hours or so, how much worse does Congress look for still forcing a rushed tax bill vote?

I think the concern about the Congress is that they no longer care how bad they’ll look. They know everyone despises them, aside from Nazis and lunatics. They know the elections are going to be a bloodbath. They know they won’t be able to appear in public in their own districts without people yelling at them. So they’re going to give the moneymen everything they want so they can get jobs on TV or in think tanks.

So let’s say that’s the case. And let’s posit that realistically, this Congress isn’t going to send Trump packing and so he stays in office until either 2021 arrives or his arteries calcify.

The best case I can see is a wave election in 2018 that lets us stop the judicial nominations and the worst of the legislation for the next two years.

I’m not ready yet to go all the way to “they’re going to find a way not to hold elections.” I hope to hell I’m not wrong about that. With 68% of the country against Trump, I do think there’s a limit to what he can get away with that’s overtly coup-like.

Does anybody here really think if Trump fires Mueller that the Republicans in Congress will do anything? And when, IMO, they don’t do anything what happens? Nothing.

Yes. He may just stroke out and die, or he may fake such a stroke to get pardoned and evade the court (not to mention concealing his economic, ah, shortcuts). Or he may try to bull it out and fail. (You think Roy Moores is really going to get a recount?) I used to think this year; now i suspect it might get dragged out past the mid-terms, but he’s gone. Dead man shambling along. Poison that will take years to recover from, but he himself? History.

Something I’ve said pretty much the whole time I’ve been on this board: their support for the 2nd Amendment is no more substantial that their support for the 1st. It’s a thing they value only because of their mythology that they’re the ones with the guns.

They just won’t use the talismanic trigger phrase of “gun control.” They’ll invoke public safety, or gang affiliation, or terrorism, but it will amount to the same thing.

Hence the naked contradiction of their obsession with “law and order”—resulting in cheering greater arbitrary use of force—but the always-invoked fear of oppression by government(s). Who’s a thug is a cynical calculation about affiliation.

There’s no good faith to it.

A second HHS agency was told not to use the phrases “entitlement,” “diversity” and “vulnerable,” in documents. It was also told to use “ObamaCare” as opposed to the “Affordable Care Act” and to refer to “marketplaces,” where people purchase health insurance, as “exchanges.” …”

You can self defend against individuals. Your EDC will suffice for that. But beyond that? Without a Britain to supply your resistance with weapons, ammo, explosives and training, not to mention a cell structure that reaches nation wide and is read to take significant casualties, you aren’t going to accomplish anything. War tends to ” All or Nothing” very quickly.

Tweety things I distinctly remember:

shortly before 2006 midterms, when it was clear the Dems were about to take the house, Tweety said: “I don’t think Nancy Pelosi would still be in charge of the conference. A majority leader has to be forceful and stubborn, and everybody hates when a woman does that.”

Late in the 2008 primaries, he did a spiel comparing Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton in regards to hairstyles, cleavage, hemlines, jewelry & other fashion matters. It was Andrea Mitchell who pulled him up short… “Chris, those are Ivy League lawyers you’re talking about. Perhaps their looks aren’t their most important qualities.”

I love nostalgic music, alas I’m not up on currents.

But … speaking of nostalgia …

Yesterday I was innocently driving home from the supermarket and on comes “The Marvelous Toy,” I think the 1969 Peter, Paul and Mary version, and it immediately invaded my brain and stayed there:

“It went zip when it moved
and bop when it stopped
and whirrr when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was
and I guess I never will.”

All freakin day it’s been haunting me. While I was watching a football game. While I was cooking barbecue pork. While I was reading an old Phillip Margolin thriller. While I was posting here, fer chrissake. Ringing in my ears: “bop when it stopped and whirrr when it stood still.” The only way I can think of to get rid of this echo in my head is to pass it off to all of you. Enjoy.

Aaaahhh.
