IOW, the inverse of the Star Trek movie rule?

Hey, the only real clinkers in the Star Trek movie lineup, up until the “Kelvin timeline” movies, were ST V: The Final Frontier (for the OS crew) and ST: Nemesis (for the NG crew). Under the heading of “good/great concept, but the execution, not so much”, you could file ST:TMP and ST: Insurrection there for various reasons, but most of the ST movies are, in their own ways, fairly good to pretty damn great.

Hell, even ST:TMP is pretty decent in its director’s cut and has been unfairly maligned for years because of a bunch of crap leading up to the theatrical release that was largely out of Robert Wise’s control, particularly with the SFX and post-production; it was space opera, Star Trek-style.

I feel for these people…

Sat in a plane on the tarmac at LaGuardia for 12+ hours. No food or water. Took 16 hour altogether to get to DIA. Had to stay in a hotel that night because I missed the last connecting flight to ABQ by several hours. Lucky I had JUST enough saved from the trip to swing it. (The airline did not pay for it, because it was weather related.)

Was not a fun time.

You know…I never quite realized just how truly openly ratfucky the claimed FCC filings in favor of the NN repeal were. Using dead people’s names not just to comment, but to comment multiple times is scummy as fuck.

But literally using Obama’s own name and the White House Address itself is just absolutely brazen and shows they absolutely just didn’t give a fuck.

The reason I loved this version so much is that it is a chamber piece, and each instrument has a voice, and each stands alone. When I was in music school (not Juilliard! but many decades ago) the chamber groups, as well as the jazz ensembles, played at the local tavern, and it just seemed to be the way it ought to be heard. What a joy, and what a trip down memory lane!

Hopefully that is what he will be remembered by, unleashing that train wreck of a woman on the country, and what poor judgment he exercised just for quest for power.

I’ll always remember him as the guy who stayed at the Hanoi Hilton, after being offered an early release because his dad was CINCPAC, with his hands tied behind his back and lifted off the ground on a meathook until his shoulders were dislocated. And then beaten with bamboo canes while he was hanging.

I may disagree with his politics (and I do), but he was a warrior and true American patriot. And anybody who impugns him, (I’m looking at you, Drumpf), I’d gladly punch in the mouth for doing so.

They were gonna do that whole “infrastructure bill” business, but then they realized that there was really nothing there and quietly dropped it. Like most of Trump’s “promises” to the working class, it sounded great until they actually had to put it on paper.

Think about it this way: Assuming the Wealthcare bill passes this week, the only “accomplishment” Trump will have is a universally panned money grab that numerous economists have said will fail to do anything useful at best and at worst will drive the country into another recession.

Just reading an article at ESPN saying Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, amid allegations of workplace misconduct, announced Sunday in a letter on the team website that he plans to put the NFL team he founded up for sale after the 2017 season.

I’m sure this all pales in comparison to a Black player taking a knee in protest and how that is fouling pro football.

ESPN - Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, 81, selling team

The letter came after Sports Illustrated published a story saying the Panthers settled with at least four former employees regarding inappropriate workplace behavior by Richardson.

“I believe that it is time to turn the franchise over to new ownership,” Richardson wrote. “Therefore, I will put the team up for sale at the conclusion of this NFL season. We will not begin the sale process, nor will we entertain any inquiries, until the very last game is played.”

The SI article detailed accusations made against Richardson that include sexual harassment of multiple women and the use of a racial slur toward a scout who has since left the team.

The NFL on Sunday announced it was taking over an investigation the Panthers announce on Friday they were conducting into the allegations.

Richardson, 81, allegedly made verbal comments about women’s appearances, inappropriately touched female employees and made advances to women that included asking whether he could shave their legs and for them to give him foot rubs.

Along with the allegation of using a racial slur that led to a settlement with the scout, SI notes comments made by Richardson about black players’ appearances and his threat to discipline players who addressed social issues.

Any chance anti-virus was working on a bug and borked some files in the cleanup?

I have heard of that happening. Then you pretty much have to do a delete program and a reload.

I couldn’t tell you. It’s a house computer used by three different people, weird stuff gets uploaded and downloaded all the time (and I’m usually the one who has to clean it up). Like last night, had to uninstall a few junk programs, including FlashPlayer (grr).

Like I told one wingnut who tried to convince me that Trump deserves the credit for “winning” against ISIS, this is as ridiculous as declaring Clement Attlee deserves success for winning WWII because he was in office when the final blows were delivered. The winning strategy was already in place when Trump took office and he did nothing significant to “win” the struggle.
