considerable snark and considered conversation…
and especially Charles for allowing it to be what it is….

may your holiday season be filled with joy, laughter and love…

In the Snarky Puppy vid—all are amazing, the drummer, of course. But I loved the guitar solo. Some of their stuff leaves me a bit cold in that I feel the technical prowess but don’t hook into the actual music. But that solo had a real nice human touch. And it rocked.

Wohl is a piece of work befitting of Trumpworld.

NFA Complaint
The association’s complaint against Wohl also said his promotional materials stated he had nine years of trading experience — suggesting Wohl had started when he was 8 or 9. The Arizona Corporation Commission, looking into investor complaints, alleged that Wohl Capital claimed to be managing around $10 million for 178 investors, when it had 13 investors with no more than $500,000.

Earlier this year, the futures association barred Wohl for life from its membership after he failed to submit to an examination of the alleged misdeeds. Wohl said he had canceled his membership before the examiners appeared at his door and they no longer had the right to look into his activities.

The SEC also took an interest in Wohl’s business. He said he cooperated with that investigation, which began about 13 months ago. He provided a letter on what appears to be SEC letterhead dated July 25 — addressed to Wohl Capital in care of his father — stating that it didn’t intend to recommend an enforcement action. The SEC declined to comment.

Wohl has 62,000 Twitter followers to Trump’s 36 million, but they might view the medium in some of the same ways. “Tweeting is visceral — it comes from heart and not from brain,” Wohl said. “You’ve got 140 characters and you have to get someone’s attention. I’m good at that.”

In Obama’s first year in office he bailed out the Big Banks. In President Trump’s first year in office he bailed out the America People!

Oh, honey, no! That’s not even remotely true!

Remember back in late 2008/early 2009, when we were losing 800,000 jobs A MONTH? When two of the Big Three automakers were about to go under, swamping the third? When people were talking about a second Great Depression?

Remember how that second Great Depression didn’t happen?

Remember how we’ve added jobs EVERY SINGLE MONTH since September 2010?

You’re welcome.

“…To suggest that it is somehow unfair or petty of liberals to not want to date Trump supporters is to deny that the personal is political. Why would I want to date someone who doesn’t think I should have reproductive rights? Who doesn’t think trans people should be allowed in the military? Why would I date someone who thinks it’s cool to vote for someone who treats women like that, or who talks that way about Mexicans or Muslims? Why would I want to bring that person around my friends? Why would I want to be around someone whose actions have resulted in harm coming to me and to people I care about, and who isn’t even sorry about it? As someone who is neither a masochist or a sociopath, I’m at a loss.”

An ‘Alt-Right’ Artist Is Behind a Street Art Campaign Targeting Meryl Streep

The campaign suggests that the actress knew about Harvey Weinstein’s abuses. The LA artist behind it says it’s revenge for Streep speaking out against Trump.

*snip*

Sabo tells The Guardian that he does not know for sure if Streep was aware of Weinstein’s actions, but he has his suspicions: “I wasn’t sitting in a room with her. I can’t say 100 percent. But I’d say anyone in the industry had a pretty good idea. I think she knew. Maybe she was providing Weinstein with the fresh meat.”

I’m pretty much over it. My kids are grown (my oldest won’t let me see the grandkids or speak to any of them, because being anti heroin is somehow a BAD thing), we spend money we could be using for fun and the only person knocking themselves out is me. Nope. Done. If I can figure out a way to phase it out entirely, I’m ok with it. No one comes to see us, hell, we barely get presents anymore, so what the hell is the point? I worked in retail for over 20 yrs. I have seen the worst in people brought out by this holiday madness wrapped in supposed love for Baby Jesus and I am just sick of pretending it’s some special time of year. It’s not. I can see if you have little ones and want to have traditions, but if you have a fucked up family dynamic, it shouldn’t be some awful thing to just keep things simple to non-existent. But people react like you’re just awful in some quarters, because it’s like Christmas is Mandatory, some test of something, I am not sure what.

My son and my husband are home. We have a lot of food (I am cooking like a beast, because I like it and want to), a nice bag of herb, all our bills are paid and we didn’t go into (more) debt for Christmas at all. For the first time since we’ve been married (almost 25 yrs). I helped a couple people out who needed a little extra help this year and that’s pretty much the stuff Christmas is supposed to be about anyway. I am ok with all of this. Some people love this time of year and I wish them all the best, but I just don’t, and I haven’t for a long time. I’m tired of faking it, you know?

Trump has to keep repeating this because as others have discovered, it’s not the truth of legislation that matters, it’s the narrative that seeps into the public consciousness that counts. And that’s why we have to be vigilant and vocal about pushing back on Fox deception. If the voting public agrees that the bill’s entire raison d’etre is to enrich the wealthy and destroy the public safety net, the GOP cannot get away with their deceit on who is the beneficiary of the tax scam bill.

I’m not generally very personal on here, but this year has been a very painful one for everyone here in many ways. So at this time of the year, please look after yourselves and those you care about, and have a good holiday season. I know things look bleak, and a better future is uncertain. But here in Australia it’s already tomorrow. And while I may have lost faith in the American people, I have not lost faith in you. This is the one sane corner of the internet, the one place where you can and should read the comments. Humanity will need people like you if it is to move forward, so look after you and yours, and leave everything better than you found it.

I’m entertained by Rick Wilson, but I know we aren’t on the same side. But no one has been as righteous from the Right as Jennifer Rubin. It will be a shame when all of this plays out to again realize we aren’t on the same side of things.

washingtonpost.com

CNN reported that Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe this week testified before the House Intelligence Committee and then before members of the House Intelligence, Oversight and Judiciary committees that former FBI director James B. Comey told McCabe that President Trump had asked for a pledge of loyalty. Comey previously testified that the president had requested loyalty; Trump has denied that this took place.

Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, put out a statement slamming Republicans for holding a secret meeting of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) with members of the House Oversight and Judiciary committees to discuss interviewing McCabe:

Today’s ‘emergency’ interview with FBI Deputy Director McCabe was both rushed and unnecessary and further demonstrates that Republicans are desperate to distract from the Russia investigation and undermine the credibility of the FBI and Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation. This truth was laid bare when we learned last evening that a group of Republicans have been secretly meeting for months for just that purpose.

After a day’s worth of questioning by Members from both Committees, what we learned today was that McCabe is a dedicated public servant who has committed his life to the FBI and its mission to uphold the law.

A Nadler adviser told Right Turn that Republicans’ conduct was “what we have come to expect from Republicans who continue to try and distract, discredit and undermine the special counsel investigation. This is all just a very silly attempt to undermine the FBI and re-litigate the [Hillary] Clinton investigation.”

Republicans grilling McCabe over the FBI’s handling of Clinton’s emails and their conspiracy theorizing substantiate our suspicions that GOP members of Congress have zero interest in conducting a serious investigation of the president’s possible collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice. “President Trump has called Jim Comey a liar and likewise suggested that Comey committed a crime by lying under oath about their conversations,” Susan Hennessey of the Lawfare blog tells me. “Notably, Comey gave his account under penalty of perjury, while Trump, to date, has not. Comey also substantiated his story with contemporaneous memos.” She continued: “Now we learn that Andrew McCabe can offer further corroboration that what Comey said was true and that he shared the details at the time. That means that, conversely, the deputy FBI director has testified the president is lying to the American people.” She argued, “I don’t think that many serious people genuinely questioned whether the famously, even notoriously forthright former FBI director or the president, who has a habitually tenuous relationship with the truth, was being honest. But to the extent there were any lingering doubts, McCabe’s testimony should put them to rest.”

He also asserted there had “been no effort to impede our investigation to date.” (Reuters)

The Republicans, by their conduct, implicitly recognize Trump’s weak defense to a potential obstruction charge. Contrary to the Trump attorney’s mumbo jumbo, they realize that a sitting president with a corrupt intent can be cited for obstruction of justice, although the case might need to be prosecuted after he leaves office. Second, Republicans understand that if the fact pattern is believed, Trump at the very least committed an impeachable action (although not necessarily a criminal violation of federal statute) in pressuring the then-FBI director to lay off of Michael Flynn and curtail the Russia investigation. If the facts here were not so damning, Republicans would not find it necessary to call into question the credibility of the entire FBI. Third, the Republicans will have their hands full if they go down this road. Not only McCabe but also other FBI officials may have been told of Trump’s pursuit of a loyalty oath from Comey. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency director Mike Rogers as well as other members of the White House staff may be privy to Trump’s statements about Comey and efforts to get Comey to relent from investigating Flynn. That’s a lot of people to discredit if the GOP is bent on circling the wagons around a president who has neither the law nor the facts on his side.

The spectacle of Republicans trying to cook up a spurious case of corruption against the entire FBI is strong evidence of their inability to take their constitutional responsibilities seriously. If we are to get a fair investigation and consideration of the facts as well as a mature examination of whether those facts rise to an impeachable offense, it likely won’t come with a GOP majority in control of the House and Senate.

From the comments:

The late Harry Bridges, in his first term as president of the International Longshoremen’s and Warehousemen’s Union, sat through an hour’s worth of talk by West Coast shipowners and finally stood up with, “Gentlemen, your companies do not exist to give my men jobs. They exist to make money.

“That’s fine…but my men don’t work because they have nothing better to do, _They_ work to make money too. The day you realize that, we’ll talk again.” And left.

Actually, Guatemala is in a terrible state and there are a lot of Guatemalan refugees here in the USA. Trump wants to send these people back. I don’t know how any intelligent person could believe otherwise. And we didn’t need a year to see it. It was clear from day one.

But most of them deny this fact; they don’t belong to official hate organizations( except perhaps the Republican party). They claim that Trump will solve economic problems because he was a successful businessman and they reject charges that they are propelled by resentment.

Thankful to the lizard crew for helping me maintain my sanity this year…and for giving me weapons to use against the idiocracy. Was a bittersweet day day of rememberance…one of the few wingers I could tolerate after the 2016 election (and, thanks to you lizards, one that actually started listening to me instead of interrupting with Fox talking points) passed from a heart attack a few months ago. Our last ride together was from Vegas to Lake Havasu via Oatman and Route 66 and my girl and I chose to repeat it today. It was the kind of day he would have looked forward to…light traffic, mostly sunny skies, and a crisp temperature that makes the big V-twins purr like a kitten. A couple of IPAs at our favorite brewpub on College Street in Havasu and return via the same route.

I don’t believe in the whole circle of life thing…but my girl does. After returning home, I was reminded that we have a great niece (did I get that right?) due shortly and she has a crochet project to finish and I was to go have a beer and watch college sportsball until summoned home.

I’ll call the day a net positive. A good ride is now followed with a good IPA. I’m not gonna complain ;-)
