4 Important Takeaways From Jake Tapper’s Bizarre Dysfunctional Interview of Trump Toady Stephen Miller

Politics • Views: 30,026

YouTube

I watched this earlier and have been debating with myself about whether to post it or not, because on one level it’s just more of the same from the enablers of Donald Trump.

But I think there are four important points that need to be made about this grotesque “interview.”

  1. Why do Jake Tapper and CNN continue putting these wretched people on the air? At this point, it's absolutely unsurprising when they behave like this, and nobody learns anything they didn't already know. An argument could be made that Miller and Trump are the only winners from these appearances (see point 4).
  2. Having said that, Miller is a perfect example of the sociopathic personalities Trump has brought into the White House and throughout his administration. But again, anyone who was paying attention already knew that.
  3. Miller has the most lifeless eyes I've ever seen in a human being. "Dead fish" doesn't even begin to describe it. It's creepy and wrong and there's something seriously off about this guy.
  4. Although most rational people who watch this will probably think Miller behaved like an obsequious jackass, relentlessly sucking up to Donald Trump, right wing social media and blogs are overflowing with comments about how Miller "destroyed" and "owned" Jake Tapper. They think Miller was absolutely awesome. And that is scary, because we have an entire segment of the US population that has been indoctrinated to admire sociopaths.

I hate myself for having sought out the thing to watch in full.

The story making the rounds tonight about Miller having been “escorted off the set” is nothing more than accentuation of point 4 above. Miller wanted the story to get out to thrill vituperative right wing idiots.

A response to a comment from downstairs:
re: #282 freetoken

Yes, Trump is taking credit erroneously.

But that graph has it’s own propagandistic qualities:

1) it uses a logarithmic scale for the y-axis. Now, that is probably a good choice for important analyses, but it does make the later changes seem to be less. But the casual viewer of that is probably not aware that it makes the recent change in the DJIA look different than changes 9 years ago.

2) the x-axis stops the actual graph now several weeks short of where we are today.

It is not uncommon to use a logarithmic scale for an asset index. An increase of 500 over a period means more if the starting number is 1000 than if the starting number is 10000. The first shows a 50% increase in asset value, the second a 5% increase. If you invested 10,000 under the first scenario, you would have 15,000 at the end; under the second scenario, your investment would be 10,500, significantly smaller. A logarithmic scale puts returns on the same basis.

Has anyone heard anything about what’s going on at the GOP Conspiracy, Collusion, and Obstruction of Justice meeting at Camp David? I haven’t seen anything.

This very secret meeting, with this specific group of GOP politicians, can not lead to any good for all Americans. Where else but Camp David can a group of politicians meet in absolute privacy. Total isolation. To discuss anything they want…in complete privacy. No MSM. No outsiders. Maybe no cell phone coverage for anyone but the POTUS, Secret Service, and military advisors.

Some items I expect from this meeting:

- Plans to gut all Social Programs to reduce the new Gov’t debt
- Selecting “approved candidates” for judges and U.S. Attorneys
- Preparing a final FY 18 budget to remove other unwanted programs.

One other side observation. This GOP meeting will give the GOP Congressional leadership and most of the President’s Cabinet a chance to observe trump over an extended period of time. This should give them adequate opportunity to evaluate his “mental fitness” for the job. Maybe they will use this week as a baseline for evaluating his mental capacities in the future.

I think this meeting will be a major turning point in the trump dynasty. It will be a major discussion point in the future.

I’d like to see the networks stop giving a platform to Miller, Conway, Spicer, etc., etc. They lie and lie and lie and add nothing to the national discourse.

I’d be happy to see interviewers take back their power and responsibility.
I’d like to see them take hold of the reins and control the interview

Stephen Miller’s eerie resemblance to Josef Goebbels has been noted. Goebbels, reincarnated as a Jew but failed to learn the lesson. I feel terrible for his family.

I think Miller looks much more like Jonathan Banks in his 80s roles (Beverly Hills Cop, Armed & Dangerous, etc.), just with shorter hair

There are different kinds of intelligence: someone can be smart when solving technical problems but absolutely dumb when it comes to social/cultural/economic issues. Too many Republicans worship the idea of a CEO running the country — and that usually means a single person who has total control of the organization and can dismiss anyone who displeases them. They really do want a dictator. Unfortunately that seems to be the preference of a majority of Caucasians — both men and women.

Yay, Joy!

David Brooks was attempting to be the same old David Brooks, and allow Trump off the hook. Joy-Ann Reid was having none of that:

“There is like a policy level going,” Brooks said. “Which Trump must have some involvement in. And so the insanity is there. But we shouldn’t go to a fairy tale, the madness of King George. Because there is a policy process that’s going on in this White House.”

Joy-Ann Reid, the only adult in the room that was never gullible about Trump, had the perfect response.

“But must he have some involvement?” Joy-Ann Reid asked sarcastically. “Because I think if Donald Trump is also impaired because I think one of the most frightening revelations were about the potential that Donald Trump is not in possession of his cognitive faculties. Because if there is a policy agenda going on, it’s not clear that it’s Donald Trump’s. It is very clear Mitch McConnell said he would sign anything we put in front of him. The idea that people who have agendas, people like Steve Bannon by the way, who just saw Trump as a pure vehicle, it doesn’t matter what Donald Trump does. They can lock him in his room with a cheeseburger in his bed all day, And they can do whatever they want. And that means that agendas that were not voted for by the majority of the American people, these are not people that are accountable to the American people, can literally do what they want.”

There was an audible gasp from the entire panel over Joy-Ann Reid’s cheeseburger comment as if that revelation wasn’t a known. TEA Party and Right Wingers come on these shows and spew nonsense and never get that disrespectful reaction. The establishment journalists gasp at a progressive stating inconvenient truths to the boring establishment narrative.
