A Classic Tale of Creepy Behavior: Trump’s Lawyer Michael Cohen Arranged $130,000 in Hush Money for Adult-Film Star Right Before the Election

Politics • Views: 32,699

And the hits just keep on coming for our Narcissist in Chief: Trump Lawyer Arranged $130,000 Payment for Adult-Film Star’s Silence.

A lawyer for President Donald Trump arranged a $130,000 payment to a former adult-film star a month before the 2016 election as part of an agreement that precluded her from publicly discussing an alleged sexual encounter with Mr. Trump, according to people familiar with the matter.

Michael Cohen, who spent nearly a decade as a top attorney at the Trump Organization, arranged payment to the woman, Stephanie Clifford, in October 2016 after her lawyer negotiated the nondisclosure agreement with Mr. Cohen, these people said.

Ms. Clifford, whose stage name is Stormy Daniels, has privately alleged the encounter with Mr. Trump took place after they met at a July 2006 celebrity golf tournament on the shore of Lake Tahoe, these people said. Mr. Trump married Melania Trump in 2005.

Speculation: The bribe isn’t because Trump had sex with her, but because he wasn’t physically able to do the deed.

I would remind folk that when Stormy Daniels ran against David Vitter (R) for his seat, someone blew up her campaign manager’s car and scared her out of the race.

If conservatives can’t win on their issues, they have no problem with resorting to violence (also the woman who announced she would run against Steve King in Iowa and was hounded out of that race by death threats and harassment).

Per the age discussion that I missed downstairs, one of the folks at the blood donation thing this past weekend (and I’m assuming I didn’t win the zamboni ride because I have heard nothing, sigh :() told mr. klys he could pick his daughter up at the other end.

I suspect it’s in part because I had my hair down, which typically takes at least 5 years off people’s estimate of my age, but I still feel bad.

The encounter would have happened when Barron was 3 months old. Maybe Melania was dealing with some post partum?

Or Trump is just a pig.

Also, as a millennial (but an old millennial) I will be fabulously surprised and pleased when there are Social Security benefits for me to claim when the time comes and it will be welcome to help supplement my retirement savings but like a rational person I am planning for a worst-case no benefits scenario because I’d rather be prepared.

No one locally makes that mistake (now), but I frequently get it when we’re out of the area, due to my wife’s grey hair and cane. (We are less than two years apart in age. She doesn’t ride grocery carts either.)

As for Social Security, once I’m eligible my income would be significantly higher.

I have bacon to do for a broccoli salad, probably on Monday at this point. That’s mild enough cooking to do after a half. That and the olive gruyere sandwiches should be tasty.

I did lasagna roll-ups last week with the homemade Italian sausage (well, it’s my spice blend anyway) and there are some of those thawing for tomorrow’s dinner with a lemon kale Caesar.

If you have a respectable international market or a penchant for herb-growing, look out for Chinese celery, which is grow for leaves, has stems rather than big ribs, and a stronger celery flavor. I just used up a bunch yesterday.

Access to a basic level of financial education should not be an accident of birth.

There are some groups trying to help:

The Council for Economic Education’s (CEE’s) mission is to teach K-12 students about economics and personal finance-and we have been doing so for nearly 70 years. Our goal is to reach and teach every child in every district and school so that they can make better decisions for themselves, their families and their communities…We reach over 55,000 K-12 teachers a year through in-person professional development, and those teachers, in turn, reach approximately 5 million students throughout the country. Nearly 63% of these educators come from schools serving large numbers of low- and moderate-income students.

Not just racist, which is to say, he has some defense in the idea that we live in a racist society so we all participate its racism whether we like it or not, but a racist, as in, he’s actively prejudiced against non-white people and groups, as evidenced by his words and actions, both before he was president but especially since then. If you can’t admit this here in January of 2018, when the evidence of his racism is piled up grossly upon the floor in full view of everyone down to the cats, then I’m going to go ahead and judge you for it. Mrs. Fish’s first cosplay appearance with me, at our local comic-con last year, was as Professor Song and myself as Matt Smith. She has naturally curly red hair, and just needed a bit of makeup and the closest matches to the costume pieces we could find.

was that the really great photo of you two with Calipari?

I know we give ol’ Seth Abramson a wide berth here, or I do these days. but a thread on Clint Watt’s timeline had a lot of good points: first, Trump’s sex life isn’t of interest if it is consensual; second, he can be blackmailed—there was more than one instance of hush money; third, the Steele dossier apparently named Cohen as a fixer in these instances; fourth; with these multiple instances, it could be the tip of the ice berg—who knows? If it is, than Russia certainly has lots to blackmail him with and he’s proven he’ll pay in some form or other. And so it links directly to national security. And now there’s confirmation form Alana Evans that he was interested in a “party” with two adult entertainment actresses….hmmmm (the last point wasn’t in Seth’s thread).

Quick summation of my take of Kamala Harris.

She is extremely well spoken. No lagging in her answers so she is studied on her stances. No dancing, to the point.

Rachel mainly had her talking about DACA and she was very passionate about that being she is from California. She really got on Trump for being cruel in how he drags out the dates and dangles the lives of kids that trusted the program. She sees DACA kids everywhere she goes and they break her heart as they cry and are distraught.

She didn’t go too much into Trump problems other than to say she trusts the Mueller investigations and works with other Dems to make sure he continues and is protected.

I like her. Yes, I can see her running some day. She looks to be a great candidate in the making.

Thanks dude.

I think the problem I had with Capaldi’s run as the Doctor was that the first season he was on felt like I was watching the immediate aftermath of a very messy breakup. But that’s probably because I never really liked the character of Clara. After the whole mystery of her origin was done with in “The Name of the Doctor,” it felt like they were just going with momentum until the end of Smith’s run.

I think that’s a large part of the reason why people tuned in that first season. And yeah, I also wanted at times for Capaldi to break into creative swearing, he brought a lot of humor to the character in his own way. It’s just that the Doctor-Companion dynamic was largely built that first season around “Clara is bitter that the new Doctor is a grumpy old man.” It really felt at times like she was blaming him for “killing” Smith’s Doctor.

I work for a large tech company. We have an unspoken rule that we do not turn on cable news on our TVs, especially Fox. We have a very, very diverse set of people in our office and there is just too much that is offensive to us on Fox.

But I have one coworker who gets himself into a twist and always changes the channel to Fox News. I have told him, repeatedly, this is a place of business and he is an employee and it is not appropriate to have cable news on our TVs. He is insistent.

So now, I flip the channel to MSNBC whenever I see Fox on. I sit closer to the TV so I catch him the minute he does it. He’s livid.

I really prefer Nat Geo and the mating rituals of the giant banana slug to Fox News.

It was April Ryan who was shouting that question. Pretty sure she was trying to make a point.

I think April is at the point where she wants to get him to blow up at her and let the monster out so everyone can see it. She is at the no fucks to give point.

I don’t know how to create an Amazon link to LGF, but here’s a regular one to purchase a TV-B-Gone (a universal remote that only has one function: it shuts off television sets). It is about the size of a key fob so is easily hidden whilst you are shutting off your work television.

After two or three shutoffs, your coworkers will likely conclude there is something wrong with the TV and leave it off.

amazon.com ($20 with Prime, whatever that is)

I have one I use in restaurants. The device is very good for the digestion to eat without FOX.

Any Amazon link automagically gets LGF-ified if you post it here. Charles is very good at what he does.

I just hovered my cursor over the link, and I see that the site added the information necessary to credit Mr. Johnson.

About as far as I can get with coding is:

10 Print “LGF”
20 Goto 10

thedopefishlives is absolutely correct. Post any ol’ gol’darn Amazon link in the comments and it’ll be an LGF affiliate link by default.

Someone where I work keeps changing it to One America News…which is almost worse than Fox.

WAY worse. It was in a hotel I was at and I was channel checking and landed on it. It’s like Fox mated with Alex Jones and prison planet.

We all try to avoid the news because there is so much sickness coming out of this White House that the news is touchy every day.

How the hell can you work in a diverse place of business and have the news on without it being hurtful to my coworkers, who I care about very much? Many of whom are here on visas or are immigrants? What about my fellow female coworkers? My black ones? My LGBT coworkers? There is nothing coming out of this administration that is not hurtful to someone on my floor. Nothing.

National Geographic or cricket matches on our TV. Occasionally the financials. Sometimes someone tries to sneak in a soap opera, which we all strike down in a show of unity. No news.

There’s a good argument there, though I have a soft spot for Rose Tyler as well. But Sarah Jane Smith? Gold.

Sarah Jane is #1 with me, and Pertwee is my Doctor.

re: #83 Quoth the raven, Covfefe.

One and the same! I can’t wait to see what becomes of Jodie, but for now, Capaldi is my favorite Doctor (though we are starting to watch the classic series now, but I don’t expect that to change).

WQED showed the original Doctor episodes with William Hartnell in the early 60s. I didn’t see any of the Troughton episodes. WOR in New York started showing the Tom Baker half hour episodes in the late 70s. When I moved to LA in the early 80s KCET showed the uncut Baker episodes then they followed with the Pertwee episodes. I liked Jon Pertwee’s Doctor better than Baker. I got to sit in Bessie when they did a tour in the 80s.

So my Doctor preference is 1) Pertwee 2) Hartnell 3) Capaldi.

Now I wonder if Jodie is going to find herself exiled to Earth the same way Jon’s Doctor was…

My office has the cafeteria TVs always turned to CNN.

Right - like most genuine racists, he thinks he’s a realist, just telling the truth to people who are too stupid to figure it out for themselves.

That’s been my experience. They won’t admit their racism; they deflect to the violence in Chicago; they think that the Civil War could have been avoided if ONLY the North compromised with the South. Not all are birthers but they have nothing but disdain for the Obama administration. And they are clearly a majority of white voters.

Easy to fix. Arrive early or stay late and reset the pass-code for parental control on the office TV. Then block Faux and any other channels that are not appropriate. Then “forget” the new pass-code.
