If this motivation can be sustained through the November mid-terms, the GOP is looking at an electoral debacle.

It’s been noted by others that in so-called “wave elections”, gerrymandering can actually work against the part which gerrymandered the district, resulting in serious electoral losses across the board.

I have little doubt the GOP is going to try to seriously ramp up their voter suppression efforts between now and November. If they can’t - or won’t - recognize that there’s a good possibility that they’re looking at a rout, then they’re utterly and hopelessly delusional.

LMAO I saw a stupid tweet trying to tell the women marchers that Trump has more women in high cabinet posts in history and he should be lauded for having the first woman press sec in a decade. I guess HRC at State and Lynch at DOJ mean nothing. Not to mention he appointed two women- first President to do so btw to the USSC and a lot of women to the circuit courts. I ain’t even mad. I’m amused how uninformed someone who thinks they know what they’re talking about has no idea.

In the past, they’ve bragged about their crowd sizes. A quick search of their Websites say things like “they were successful” and “we’re not getting media coverage.”

I’m guessing they were badly outnumbered today.

HappyWarrior  Jan 20, 2018 • 1:28:21pm

Okay thanks guys. I finally did call my friend out. My response to his idiotic attempt ot school the women marchers today who were “unaware” that Trump has appointed more women to high ranking cabinet posts than any president in history.

Uh “name here” Loretta Lynch was AG under Obama, Clinton was Secretary of State, appointed two women to the Supreme Court, and appointed a woman to head the Federal Reserve. Maybe this guy should look up the facts before posting this on his Twitter. It’s true Obama didn’t have a woman press secretary but he did have women in similiar positions that Kellyanne Conway and Hope Hicks occupy, and both his Ambassadors to the UN were women- Susan Rice and Samantha Power. This is just inaccurate and it didn’t take me all but five seconds to look up. If you’re going to post stuff trying to school people, look up the information because when you post stuff like this, you come off very uninformed.

So, a week after Rango’s traffic scare, he’s still a little skittish around cars, and especially skittish of the intersection where it happened. But still enthusiastic for walkies, although for a couple days, after enthusiastically pogoing for walkies, he’d try to duck back inside before the door closed. Poor boy!

Once on the walk, he’d get over it, and get into it like he always has.

Because of that, and because the Canine Flu is rampaging through NorCal, and his vaccine won’t have done much yet, we stuck to back streets rather than going through parks or along the big boulevards.

I snapped this from Indian Springs Park, here in San Mateo….

You can see downtown SF from there, as well as one of the towers of the Bay Bridge. You might have to trust me on that…..

I’m amused how the so called Alpha males think you’re some of Beta, cuckold, or whatever the hell they want to call you if you’re a male feminist. I support equal rights for women because equal rights for women is equal rights for everyone. Equal pay is more income for the hard work that I know my women friends and family do. Respect is the same thing I want out of this world. Not to be treated like a sex object is what I’d want for the women I know and love. Quite the opposite, I’m a male feminist because I’m confident in my gender and not threatened by women at all. If one wants to use “Beta”, I’d say it’s far more better applied at the men threatened by these women. I hate this phrase but a “real man”, a real man isn’t bothered by women seeking the same as him, a real man embraces that.

True. My point is if you’re truly confident in your masculinity and you’re like 99% of men who aren’t millionaires, you’d embrace what the women are marching for today. Plus the bit about wanting women’s bodies to be respected is something that ought to transcend class lines.

Got in a ridiculous argument with a vegan, who tried to claim Vitamin B-12 appears naturally in water, and the only reason public water supplies don’t have it is because of water treatment.

I pointed out my town doesn’t treat it’s water, and you only find B-12 in water when you draw it near a dead animal in the water.

Then I pointed out there is no B-12 in well water either.

I’m amused how the so called Alpha males think you’re some of Beta, cuckold, or whatever the hell they want to call you if you’re a male feminist.

It also indicates how superficial their understanding of the meaning of the role of alpha or beta is in behavioralism. The terms is descriptive, not fixed or determinative, it simply describes the role that a particular individual currently plays in the group.

In fact, closer observation has shown shows that lower-ranking males often learn to take advantage of alphas posturing and fighting to gain access to the females the alphas are trying to claim or defend.

And it is not men vs. women: only the most primitive minds think in those terms: real men crave partnership with females and are perfectly comfortable with mates who are their equals in their relationship and even superior to them in some ways.

The other thing? Our closest relatives are the Bonobos, who have a matriarchal society and all of them of either gender will fuck anything that moves.

One can overdose on water. There are stories in which people have taken in too much water and have died.

There is a famous story of the court jester in Heidelberg who put away up to fourteen bottles of wine a day. He grabbed a pitcher, thinking it was wine, and downed it in one gulp as was his habit, it turned out to be water and he died of oedema.

I was once working in a lab full of electronic equipment when water started dripping down from the ceiling. We immediately called the maintenance staff, who fixed a broken pipe in the bathroom above the lab.

Wrote in the lab log that there had been a dihydrogen monoxide leak in the lab, noting that it’s a common industrial solvent that is responsible for thousands of deaths a year in addition to property damage. Freaked out a lot of people who read the log.

Correction to the Women’s March story in my regional paper:

In a story Jan. 19 about women’s marches, The Associated Press misidentified the city of Portsmouth as New Hampshire’s state capital, which is Concord. The story also said 1 million marched around the world in rallies protesting President Donald Trump’s inauguration; global crowd estimates were in the millions.

Good thing copyeditors in Scottsbluff, Nebr. know the capital of New Hampshire and the Associated Press doesn’t, and can count better.

The point being that the non-gender specific ‘promiscuity’ of our closest living relative is really so much the total opposite of the ‘Alpha Male’ bullshit - their view is that Alpha males get all the girls, who will remain faithful, hence their use of ‘cuck’ as an insult. Meanwhile, the nearest primate to us has no concept of sexual fidelity, and even though males are stronger and larger than females, the females dominate by cooperating.

Jury Rules Against Radio Station After Water-Drinking Contest Kills Calif. Mom

The husband of a California woman who died after participating in a radio station’s water drinking contest said he hopes a jury’s $16.5 million compensation award following a wrongful death lawsuit will send a message to other corporations dealing with the public.

“It was a preventable thing,” Billy Strange told “Good Morning America” today of his wife’s 2007 death from water toxicity. The radio station, he said, “had the information months in advance that this could cause harm.”

The idiot disk jockeys even raised the possibility of water poisoning during the contest.

“Can you get water poisoning and, like, die?” asked the female disc jockey.

“Not with water,” a male disc jockey replied. “Your body is 98 percent water. Why can’t you take in as much water as you want?”

“Maybe we should have researched this before,” the female disc jockey added.

98 percent of “98 percent” claims are made up on the spot. Ignorance kills.

“She was the type of kid that others aspire to be,” Curry said.

Kimberlee had been hunting with her father and two family friends Sunday when the black powder gun she was using accidentally discharged, Sheriff Ben Bakewell said.

Hunting with black powder is an enjoyable experience but it takes more care than even regular hunting since you can not unload them as easily as modern breech loaders. If the cap or priming powder is not cleared it is very easy to cause a negligent discharge.

Based on what happens around here, it’s probably related to either crossing a fence line and passing firearms back and forth, dropping a firearm from a tree stand or mistaken identification if they aren’t required (or even if they are) to wear blaze orange.

Mike Pence Disappointed In The 200,000 Husbands And Fathers Who Permitted Women To Attend March

WASHINGTON—Admonishing those responsible for failing to uphold their moral duties, Vice President Mike Pence expressed disappointment Saturday in the 200,000 husbands and fathers who had allowed the women and girls in their charge to attend the Women’s March on Washington. “I can’t tell you how let down I feel by the heads of these households who did not simply give their wives and daughters a firm, decisive ‘no’ when they asked to participate in today’s demonstration,” said Pence, noting with frustration that many of the protesters had been granted permission to travel across the country alone and stay for several days in a faraway city with no male chaperone whatsoever to guide and look after them. “There are a few men marching as well, so they must be the ones supervising this whole thing, and thank God for that. But I can’t help but feel that these ladies’ custodians—the ones who were supposed to be providing a masculine voice of reason on these sorts of matters—have really come up short today.” Pence stressed that he, for example, had told his 23-year-old eldest daughter that it was simply out of the question when she mentioned she was thinking of attending the march.

There’s like what, four-five shades of orange and red there?

Yeah, and the beauty of it comes from the blues which are direct accents on the color wheel but toned down. And the deep grey blues at the bottom. A great lesson in color concepts for artists.

Honestly, my entire take is that it’d be really hard at this point for something to sweep up Trump without getting to Pence first. Pence was not someone completely disconnected from the scandal like Ford was, who was picked precisely because he was clean. Pence is Agnew in this situation, at best. I just don’t see Pence getting off free if things really hit the fan for the administration.

Thanks for that - I don’t think it’s a contest but I always feel slightly stupid when I think I have a great reply & discover 15 others got there first.

I’ve never been one to drink much water - even on the hottest of days - maybe it’s because of being brought up in a small town where water was scarce & use was minimized. I will never understand why people (including many in my family) have to drink large quantities of water every day.

In my working life I never went to a meeting where water was supplied to the people attending. Refreshments were provided when the meeting was finished.

Over the past year, stories about unequal pay for women and sexual harassment by powerful men have come to the forefront of the national conversation. Dozens of men, including movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey, NBC morning news host Matt Lauer, and Democratic Senator Al Franken, lost or resigned their jobs over allegations of sexual harassment.

Note the top image for the article, in which only four signs are visible, only one aimed at political parties, and guess what, it says “DEMOCRAT BLACKMAIL”.

This is true. But considering what we already know, it seems almost impossible that anyone related to the campaign couldn’t know what shit was going on. We’ve already established that Sessions was in one of the meetings where this stuff was discussed, and Pence seemed completely keyed in to the ongoings of the entire campaign as well, he was no silent or outside observer. He was a key participant.

Also, glad to see I wasn’t the only one having issues the last 10 minutes or so.

The wave will also help us get good Dem AGs too. I really have meant it when I’ve said that I considered my vote for Mark Herring in what was a very tight race four years ago was one of my most important votes. The difference between a Dem AG and Republican one is a huge one. Holder and Lynch > Sessions and it ain’t even close. Just like Herring > Cuccinnelli here in Va.

Considering who’s already passed and where (and not just Gorsuch), I’m pretty damn sure the judiciary is already well and compromised, possibly irreparably so. As far as I’m concerned, Graham and his GOP cohorts in Congress and in America can go pound rocks on the highest range in the Altai Mountains. I do not want to hear his BS about putting America ahead of politics. He didn’t just wake up this morning and realize that the GOP has been doing this for decades, and he rubber-stamped every bit of it. He gets on my last nerve. He went from opposing Trump to getting his tongue permanently stuck up Trump’s anus with super-glue, has no credibility and no right to invoke country over party. The unvarnished truth is that Trump is in a situation of his own making with this shutdown in place, and he is showing the world that he is unfit to serve as POTUS, something we’ve known since he announced he was running for POTUS. Graham & Co. may be able to use their political positions to protect him in the Russian interference investigation, but they can’t protect him from this. The federal government is closed for business, and it happened on Trump’s watch. Earlier today, I was remembering how Spicer, Huckabee Sanders, Conway, and others have been claiming that Trump was holding “important meetings” on his golf courses. If he was having meetings while playing golf over 90 times, so was my four-legged baby Penelope, and that has yet to happen

“Hee. Too late, y’all.”

When you can’t beat ‘em, cheat ‘em. My donation to Doug Jones was money well spent. I’m truly enjoying the Alabama GOP whinefest.

I constantly glom onto Freep and a bunch of RWNJ sites. The number of breast-beating articles that include shock at Jones’ win is gratifying.

They’re getting paid.”

Absolutely, and for that pay, they’re willing to say/do things their own mamas would condemn them for. And, note that they always show up on Fox News!

Are they actually getting paid or are they just told they WILL BE PAID, just not now. Because as we all know Trump does not pay people if he thinks he can get them to work for free.

When you lose following the rules, change the rules

Clouse told al.com that the highly contentious battle between the two candidates in December’s special election, now-Sen. Doug Jones (D) and Roy Moore (R), did not impact his decision to write the bill, instead citing the immense cost of holding a special election outside of a normal election cycle.

Yeah, I’m calling bullshit.

Maybe I missed it (but somehow doubt it), but I don’t recall any concerns about the cost of AL’s special election when it was all but certain that either Strange or Moore was going to be a shoe-in to replace Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III and that Jones’ candidacy was nothing more than a way-out-there longshot.
