Posted downstairs.

Portly Pinochet stated three reasons for firing Mueller.

First, he claimed that a dispute years ago over fees at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., had prompted Mr. Mueller, the F.B.I. director at the time, to resign his membership. The president also said Mr. Mueller could not be impartial because he had most recently worked for the law firm that previously represented the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Finally, the president said, Mr. Mueller had been interviewed to return as the F.B.I. director the day before he was appointed special counsel in May.

His fucking golf club??!!

Wait he was worried that Mueller could not be impartial because he worked at a firm that represented Jared yet was going to fire him over a golf club dispute?!? BTW especially considering it was likely a large firm, it sounds grasping at straws for me.

Trump obviously views the revenue from each member of his golf courses as being significant.

Just like it was with Trump University, the petty scale of Trump’s grifting operations is totally inconsistent with the massive wealth he claims.

Tennessee man flips car five times after letting ‘Jesus take the wheel’

A Tennessee man told police this week that Jesus personally came to him and told him to let Him drive on his behalf.

The result, reports local news station WVLT, is that his car veered off the highway and then flipped over five times.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officers say that when they arrived on the scene of the accident, 33-year-old Chad England was “speaking gibberish” and trying to flee the scene while carrying a jar.

Police say that England was “obviously” under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash, although the man apparently refused to take a blood test.

A search of England’s car revealed, according to WVLT, “six grams of marijuana, 0.6 grams of cocaine, a pipe, rolling papers, a 3/4 empty bottle of Crown Royal, a small empty bottle of Crown Royal, and several cans used for ‘huffing.’”

So, Mueller was nearly fired in June by Trump but McGann, the WH Counsel said he would quit if Trump did that. Trump backed down.

That’s …. well… it’s something alright.

Trump has contemplated obstruction of justice from the moment he won the election, because the investigations were heading his way over what was already known about his contacts with Russians and criminal acts.

He’s been engaging in obstruction of justice ever since - up to and including the firing of Comey, the attempted firing of Mueller, and all this goes to intent and action. In particular, look to 18 U.S.C. 1512(b) - obstruction of federal congressional, judicial, or administrative activities by intimidation, threat, corrupt persuasion, or deception.

Trump has threatened publicly and privately. There are acts of intimidation noted public and private. He’s engaged in deception and had others lie on his behalf.

The list of acts that qualify as obstruction of justice are growing nearly daily given Trump’s propensity to spew nonsense on a daily basis and he has no filter or self-control.

As a reminder, the GOP considered obstruction of justice - lying about consensual sexual relations with a woman - to be grounds for impeachment.

Trump and his campaign cronies lied about their contacts with Russians to secure information to throw an election in violation of federal law (yet other criminal acts), engaging in conspiracy against the US, perjury, lying on federal security clearance forms, etc. And that list continues growing.

Mueller’s already got indictments and guilty pleas. More are coming.

Two days after the school shooting that left two students dead and 18 injured at Marshall County High School, Gov. Matt Bevin posted a video on Facebook saying that violence depicted in the entertainment industry glorifies killing and has contributed to “a culture of death in America.”

“We are desensitizing young people to the actual tragic reality and permanency of death,” he said in the 11-minute statement. “This is a cultural problem.”

Bevin said called on producers of movies, music, television shows and video games to be part of an effort to “figure out how to try to repair this fabric of America that’s getting shredded beyond recognition.”

Bevin said that while he believes in freedom of speech guaranteed under the Constitution, “we have got to start to think about the filth.”

snip

Many people responded to Tuesday’s shooting with calls for stricter gun control regulations, but Bevin said he does not believe that’s the solution.

“There’s rules against a 15-year-old possessing a handgun,” he said, adding that “evil doesn’t care about laws.”

Here’s a legal puzzle that Mueller is presently confronting. Since the entire Republican party is full of corrupt crooks who cover up for each other’s crimes as naturally as feed goes through a hog, how on earth do you prove conspiracy? To prove conspiracy you typically need to show that the conspirators worked together on whatever the underlying crime was.

But here we have multiple cases where Republicans cover up for other Republicans because that’s what Republicans naturally do. This lack of collaboration is likely to make things difficult.

That’s more what I’m thinking, really. I would assume that any “agreement” to help Trump and the Russians on the part of Faux News personnel would be more of a tacit agreement at the level of Hannity et al. - an implicit understanding to support the Republicans no matter what. Perhaps at the level of Faux News’s upper management, there might well be incriminating paperwork.

You could draw conspiracies as hub and spoke or chain, or a hybrid of the two.

Papadopolous is one of the chains - and he leads back to others who directed him to act, who also directed him to act on behalf of Trump himself.

Likewise, you could have others engaged in different acts that are in furtherance of criminal activities, such as covering up or lying for Trump. That too can be treated as a conspiracy.

The fact that there are those in Congress who might be involved is troubling enough. Three right off the top include Nunes, Chaffetz, and Rohrabacher.

But you’d then have to trace back those three to others in the admin and connect them that way.

Same deal; you’d need to find evidence that their actions were in furtherance of a conspiracy - based on the acts involved.

Policy disagreements aren’t enough to call X involved in a conspiracy. But lying and inventing details could be (see Nunes, Chaffetz, etc.).

McConnell is an opportunist and a skilled political extremist. His actions are those trying to maximize his position and power. He’s been low profile on anything relating to the Trump fiasco and investigations.

Ryan has more exposure here, mostly because he continues enabling people like Nunes to spew their nonsense daily.

Not sure if he is worse since I recall him justifying Zimmerman murdering Trayvon Martin in the Daily Caller. I will admit that he was restrained when he was on that CNN debate show though.

Right when he was on Crossfire, he was a pompous ass but I don’t recall as blatantly bigoted.

That’s like a 50 episode marathon, IIRC. They will be so desperate for material that Socks the White House cat will be depicted as a minion of Satan.

Buddy killed Vince Foster.

I wonder if that will happen in my lifetime. Doesn’t feel like it, tbh.

Many people responded to Tuesday’s shooting with calls for stricter gun control regulations, but Bevin said he does not believe that’s the solution.

“There’s rules against a 15-year-old possessing a handgun,” he said, adding that “evil doesn’t care about laws.”

*spit*

Gee, similar rules seem to work pretty well in the UK among other places. I wonder what the difference could be?////

I am not on Twitter and don’t know the rules, but why doesn’t the HA Goodman account have a blue checkmark?

I dunno but I can tell you this, I like quite a few of the women potential candidates.

In the Trump era, bigots are proudly putting on their hoods and white robes, joyful that they no longer suffer the indignities of only being able to communicate with their fellow travelers via dog-whistled bigotry.

Yeah that’s true but as Patricia said, it was apparent in the Obama years too. But as I said, I have a memory of him in the past bragging about assalting a gay man he felt came on to him.

If I have the timeline of Trump trying to fire Mueller correctly, the attempt was right around when the Republican party line on Mueller went from “Great, this is the best guy for the job” to “Mueller’s investigation is a waste of time with fatal conflicts of interest”.
