Massive Run on Popcorn Supplies After Reports: “Javanka and Kelly Are Locked in a Death Match”

Politics • Views: 36,175

The Pitiless Snake Pit formerly known as The White House is even more inhospitable to human life today, as the Trump family throws a massive collective tantrum and rages at Chief of Staff John Kelly over Jared Kushner losing his security clearance: Javanka and Kelly are locked in a death match. Two enter. Only one survives.

Stephen Colbert is at the top of his game with this bunch of incompetent villains in charge.

And that brings to mind the trope from the submarine movies/TV shows, where the sub is approaching crush depth and the metal is groaning and creaking, and leaks are springing up throughout the cabin.

…Stock buybacks announced between January 1st and February 15th reached historically high levels, totaling about $170 billion in that period.

That’s 28 times larger than the total value of end-of-year bonuses that were credited to the corporate tax bill—some of which had been announced months earlier and had nothing to do with the tax cuts…

a mere 6 weeks of stock buybacks are 28 times larger than all those y/e bonuses

I think there was little risk involved, though certainly not discounting the courage of his action. The mood of the majority of this country, particularly since Sandy Hook, has been really, really pissed about the easy availability of guns. Every poll had shown a significant majority of citizens wanting increased control at the very least. Banning assault weapons has rarely even been asked in polls due to the fear of NRA and crazy ass backlash. The kids have released the Kraken that was already chained and straining. That’s why this is happening so quickly now. We were ready for it.

As we’ve seen that can be a disadvantage. In a Democratic administration, any one of these would have generated massive, nearly unending coverage by the media. The unending stream of bullshit tsunamis generated by the Trump administration means that each scandal gets relatively shallow coverage and is scoured from the media when the next fecal wave arrives.

re: #39 MsJ

There are multiple reports showing that foreign countries thought they could sway and manipulate Kushner on basis of his financial dealings to get more favorable outcomes for their countries, including Israel, Mexico, and China.

In fact, that article also points out the following:

Kushner ran his family’s real estate empire until 2016. During the 2008 financial crisis, he plunged the firm into debt for a skyscraper that he bought for a record-setting $1.8 billion—only to see its value drop the next year. With a $1.2 billion loan due in Feb. 2019, the family is desperately trying to drum up foreign investment in the property, raising the eyebrows of ethics watchdogs and some in the White House.

Kushner’s trying to buy back remaining share of that building, 666 Fifth Avenue, from Vornado after that turned out to be a losing deal for everyone. He needs to get that all straightened out because otherwise he defaults on the credit line.

And that would be bad.

Everyone knows it, and that’s why anyone looking at Kushner’s position can see that he’s ripe for getting manipulated or accepting terms with all kinds of conflicts of interest written all over them.

This doesn’t even begin to touch on the security clearances - oh wait… it so absolutely does, because he would never get approved because he’s compromised.

Trump doesn’t care, and will give him access because he’s the son in law.

So a quick question on Dick’s? While I applaud what they are trying to do, can they actually refuse to sell something to someone who is legally entitled to buy that thing just based on age?

To me this would be sort of like a car dealership refusing to sell cars to anyone over 80 because so many old people accidentally step on the gas instead of the brakes and drive through CVS windows.

Seems like a 20 year old trying to buy a hunting rifle would have an excellent legal case against Dick’s.

I am talking about guns that they do sell. The current policy is that they will not sell any gun to someone under the age of 21.

It is moot anyway, I just did a little digging and most laws that prevent age discrimination specify over 40 and is mostly for employment purposes.

BREAKING: Mueller Reportedly Asking Whether Trump Knew About Stolen DNC Emails in Advance

Did President Donald Trump know about the stolen DNC emails before they were published by Wikileaks? A new report suggests that special counsel Robert Mueller suspects that the president might have known about them in advance.

According to NBC News, Mueller’s team has been asking “pointed questions” of witnesses about whether Trump not only knew of the emails prior to their publications, and whether the president was involved in the timing of their release.

This explains why Dotard has been completely unhinged (more than usual) this week.

Yet I think another factor in explicating this idiot Administration’s cavalier approach to governmental ethics (to say the least: “bone-deep corruption and criminality” is an acceptable alternative) is that the enforcement of any ethical guidelines the Trump regime might deign to follow (facts not in evidence) is pretty much entirely a political, rather than a strictly legal matter. And as long as Trump and his corrupt creatures feel that Congress has their backs - and the GOP-controlled 115th has shown absolutely zero interest in even the least questioning of Executive Branch ethical lapses - they’ll continue to act like they can get away with anything: mainly because the can - and so far, they have.

(He also did a mercenary assignment for the Catholic Church in Senegal or some such protecting a Vatican envoy investigating church corruption with the government)

That’s it. One guy.

A little tidbit about Rubio:

But one of Rubio’s own bills, which he has introduced twice, would overturn an assault weapons ban and legalize gun sales for young adults in the nation’s capital, allowing 18- to 21-year-olds in Washington, D.C. to purchase weapons like the AR-15 used in the Parkland shooting if federal law doesn’t change.
The Florida Republican introduced the Second Amendment Enforcement Act in 2015 and again in 2017 that would drastically change the District of Columbia’s gun laws. After introducing the bill for the first time in 2015 while seeking the Republican presidential nomination, Rubio’s National Rifle Association’s grade went from a B+ to an A.

from ursula k. le guin

… The sun rises in the east. To pretend the sun can rise in the west is a fiction, to claim that it does so as fact is a lie.

A lie is a non-fact deliberately told as fact. Lies are told in order to reassure oneself, or to fool, or scare, or manipulate others. Santa Claus is a fiction. He’s harmless. Lies are seldom completely harmless, and often very dangerous. In most times, most places, by most people, liars are considered contemptible.”

I take some of that to mean Mueller is on the downward slope and is probably buttoning up his investigation and is using his latest witnesses and pleas to confirm what he apparently knows. Adding to the facts as it were.

Heidi Przybyla is saying on MTP that Mercedes Schlapp has been working with Trump on communications hinting she would be Trump’s New Hope.

Schlapp….that name should ring a bell. Think asshole that runs CPAC. Her husband.

Don’t see why not. Can’t buy dry ice in most stores here in town if you’re not 21. No State law that prohibits it. Left up to the individual stores. Same with the gun shops. If they don’t feel you should have one, they will refuse to sell even before a background check.

When I was a bartender I did not have to serve anyone I felt should not be drinking. I didn’t care if they had been overserved or just an asshole, they got nothing from me.

Hicks started out as one of Ivanka’s models and then got hired by her to do PR for her brand. With Raffel out too combined with the rumors of a behind the scenes blow up with Kelly over the downgrading of Jared’s security clearance this is starting to look like an isolation elJavanka within the West Wing hierarchy. Kelly can’t fire Trump’s family, but he can push out all of their enablers.

From the link

Ms. Hicks had been considering leaving for several months

New York times just HAS to appease the WH with b.s. Appears before house committee, admits to telling lies for dear leader, resigns.

More likely she was told to resign than she had been “considering it for months”. NY Times seems to repeat the white lies every day of the week.

And it means that the money has to come from somewhere, so it means less money for actual education or other safety net programs, because of course it will.

The GOP are truly that craven and evil.

Schools are already collapsing because the GOP doesn’t want to invest in public education, where is the money going to come from to turn them into prisons?
