So. What are the odds that in the next couple of months, as more and more women come forward about how they were paid off … that Melania …

Just.

Snaps.

And posts a video on PornHub of her pulling a train with the starting defensive line of the Miami Dolphins?

And then talks very publicly about how she’s sorry the video leaked, but you know, a woman has needs, and little Donnie just doesn’t measure up …

BTW - the details that Trump refuses to Wrap That Rascal, tracks with the stuff I remember hearing from the Model/Actress/Whatever rumor mills back in the early 90s. Thus leading to the other nightmare scenario: say what you will about Trump, the presence of his offspring (no matter how odious and idiotic they are) does show that he ain’t shooting blanks.

Next wager: how long before one of the hookers from Trump’s past comes forward with the story about how he paid her to “get rid of” the results of unprotected sex with a fertile young 20-year-old woman?

Would that get excused? How about if Trump was found to have used campaign donations from evangelical voters to pay for the abortion?

Remington Outdoor Co., a major U.S. gun manufacturer, reportedly filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Sunday.

The company, which is facing mounting debt and lawsuits related to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, announced last month that it would file for bankruptcy, but delayed doing so after the Florida high school shooting in February, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“We do not expect this filing to affect the families’ case in any material way,” an attorney representing Sandy Hook families in their suit against the manufacturer said in a statement to The Hill.

Remington reportedly plans to hand over control of the company to its creditors.

The company is one of the oldest gun and ammunition makers in the U.S.

Drone video from the March For Our Lives event in Milwaukee

The toughest part of this, now that the march is over and the spectacle for the media is also over, is for the organisers to keep the media’s attention on the issue.

That will be difficult, since the media has the attention span of an over-active chihuahua.

Considering who the organisers are dealing with (the NRA and gun nuts who won’t let this go or give a millimeter of ground), keeping it in the media’s eye and therefore the voters’ eyes probably won’t be too hard for them.

12
Anymouse 🌹  Mar 25, 2018 • 10:45:07pm

The NRA won’t let it go, though, mocking the march as a “carnival” and calling it a “march for our lies.”

huffingtonpost.com

“If we move on, the NRA and those against us will win,” said 17-year-old survivor Delaney Tarr. “They want us to forget. They want our voices to be silenced. And they want to retreat into the shadows where they can remain unnoticed. They want to be back on top, unquestioned in their corruption, but we cannot and we will not let that happen.”

When it comes to Miss Daniels, all I can say is that what consenting adults do for fun in the spare time is their own damn business, be they Democrats or Republicans. This affair is only of interest if she was paid off in violation of campaign finance law.

The whinging I heard from conservatives over Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton, and the attacks on Hillary Clinton over it (it didn’t matter what she did, staying in her marriage or divorcing him were both made out as a failure of her), along with an adulterous Republican House speaker leading the charge, I have zero sympathy for hypocritical conservatives now.

“But Democrats think private stuff should remain private” say the wingnuts, as a way to deflect from their own politicians’ failings. Nope.

It does give us more evidence to call out the hypocrisy of conservatism and religious groups that support Trump and the GOP.

The point isn’t to convert conservatives (though they would certainly be welcome). The point is to convert the fence-sitters and both-siderists that both sides aren’t the same.

Not sure I agree with that.

Trade details, deficits, looting the treasury - the average voter can’t wrap their heads around anything that isn’t standing in front of them with a hammer to hit them on the head.

But a porno actress with giant boobs being paid hush money to shut up before the election? Who says that Trump sent mafia-like thugs to threaten her in a parking lot in Vegas?

Yeah, that looks to them a lot like what crooked politicians do on the lurid nighttime dramas on the TV. That, they can understand.

Some of you are speculating about a paid abortion. I think the other shoe to drop is an actual kid. Given his propensities, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is one. But knowing that he won’t pay, the mother probably never asked for any child support. Or even worse, he paid his lawyer to make her go away one way or another.

While the pro-lifers may like that, it’s still another “euuuw”. And possibly another secret that Putin has on Trump. And Trump, addled as he now is doesn’t remember half the shady stuff he has done and knows he doesn’t remember, and is terrified of being blindsided by them because he can’t defend himself against them. He certainly won’t remember if he actually slept with the woman or not.

The fundy leaders will, and some of the flock. The real battle is for those who have some conscience left and are starting to believe it’s becoming a cult of trump.

Also there still isn’t enough fundies to elect Trump all by themselves. If everybody else is repulsed, then he will have no choice but to either resign or resign himself to a big loss in 2020. Which he would rather avoid the latter.

What dirty tricks?

“Brexit whistleblower: No 10 official outed me to distract from [Cambridge Analytica] claims”

A whistleblower claims he was outed as gay by a Downing Street official in an attempt to distract attention from allegations he made that Vote Leave may have breached referendum spending rules.

[…]

On Friday, Sanni was outed by Stephen Parkinson, now a political adviser to Theresa May and a former Vote Leave official with whom he had an affair during the campaign.

[…]

In a statement delivered without Sanni’s consent, Parkinson said they dated each other for a year and a half, including the period when Parkinson was at Vote Leave and Sanni worked as a volunteer and treasurer at BeLeave.

[…]

Sanni claimed Parkinson’s statement had forced him to discuss his sexuality with his family. He also claimed that his family in Pakistan, where homosexuality is criminalised, are in danger as a result of Parkinson’s statement.

He told ITV: “I had to come out to my mother the day before yesterday as well as my entire family, as well as take security precautions in Pakistan for my family.”

Parkinson said he was saddened by “factually and incorrect misleading statements by Sanni and his lawyers”. He said he could not see how his relationship with Sanni could have remained private once Sanni had decided to publicise his “false claims”.

EDIT: Just to be clear, it’s not the outing that’s the really dirty trick, it’s the fact that Parkinson has a) potentially put Sanni’s family in danger, and b) has more less indicated indicated that he outed Sanni in response to his allegations.

I just don’t know where to begin with this, man survives steam powered rocket.

Hughes often sparred with his critics on social media leading up to the launch, through Facebook comments and a 12-minute video addressed to his doubters. He’s always maintained that his mission isn’t to prove the Earth is flat.

“Do I believe the Earth is shaped like a Frisbee? I believe it is,” he said. “Do I know for sure? No. That’s why I want to go up in space.”

Sigh.

Czech Republic has announced the expulsion of three Russian “diplomats”.

After long negotiations, the Czech Republic decided. In support of the United Kingdom, three Russian spies working under diplomatic cover will expel poison novices after attacking former agent Sergey Skripal.

At a joint press conference, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Foreign Minister Martin Stropnický announced it at Strakov Academy. “When our ally asks for help, we have to meet him,” Babis said.

Stropnicky said he had summoned the Russian ambassador to the Foreign Office in the afternoon, whom he had informed about the expulsion of the embassy staff. The Czech Republic is to leave with families until April 1st.

The minister added that about 15 European countries and the United States joined the event. “We considered the matter very precisely, it is not a random thing,” Stropnický added to the selection of expelled diplomats and indicated that they were also engaged in intelligence activities.

According to Czech secret services, all three of them operate in the Czech Republic under diplomatic cover. “All three of them have a diplomatic passport, they are diplomats, collecting information and doing espionage here,” the source told the diplomatic community.

This just diminishes the State Department’s ability to influence or effect any constructive change with Russia, as mentioned upthread, kicking out the oligarchs and freezing their assets would be much more of a blow to Putin than this mostly symbolic gesture.

We all knew about this shit when he was elected, it is just that some people were convinced that it did not matter.

We, as in politically aware people like LGF members, knew about it. But I don’t think you can say everyone knew about it. Sure some may have and chose to ignore, but I don’t think you can make such a sweeping claim.

Many Americans are blind to obvious things because they just do not pay attention. I think most Americans think about elections about a month before if not later. And then they many times vote on who they have heard the most about from family and friends or vote against who they have been taught to hate.

In a country with a population of 320+ Million stating “all” doesn’t work. With Fox and the internet there is just so much chance for people to have the wrong facts to make the worst decisions.

I really don’t think that anybody had any illusions about DT’s moral character, but many were convinced that Hillary was as bad or worse. And that was all it took in the key states where DT got the EC votes he needed to prevail.

This is what I posted last night. Got positive attention from old friends, family on both sides, and others:

Regarding these students. Let me talk about something that actually has nothing to do with guns but courage in speaking about something tough for you. When I was a senior in high school, my Nana, my father’s mother who was a huge presence in my life passed away at the age of 92. Nana left us peacefully that winter day but I still lost my Nana. My dad, aunts, and uncles decided to put together a beautiful wake for not just my Nana but my Big Dad, my grandfather who I never knew. I wanted to speak at that because well as I said Nana meant a lot to me. She had taught me kindness to all, she was a common link between me and my first cousins even though we ranged in age from 46, my cousin to 3, my youngest brother . So I spoke that day. I no doubt stuttered but to this day, I still have cousins tell me how much they appreciated that. I guess my point here is I was nervous speaking in front of family, people I loved, these kids have lost friends in a terrible way and they’re speaking to the world about it. That’s courage. I don’t think I had courage that day I was just a guy mourning his grandmother. So yeah I admire the hell out of these kids.

I once reenacted WW1 for my kids using German Senf, French lavender mustard from the Privince, Coleman’s British mustard powder and a tube of French’s yellow American mustard.

Steve King decided Emma was fair game:

“In one of the most publicized moments at Saturday’s March for Our Lives, 18-year-old Emma González stood on the stage in complete silence, weeping. She marked the six minutes and 20 seconds that claimed the lives of 17 of her high school classmates in Parkland, Fla. And on her olive jacket, she donned several sewn-on patches, including a Cuban flag.

That flag, representing González’s Cuban heritage, became the subject of attacks from some conservatives online over the weekend. And on Sunday afternoon, one of those critical messages appeared on the Facebook page for the campaign of a U.S. congressman — Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa).

“This is how you look when you claim Cuban heritage yet don’t speak Spanish and ignore the fact that your ancestors fled the island when the dictatorship turned Cuba into a prison camp, after removing all weapons from its citizens; hence their right to self defense,” said the post, which also included a photo of González at the podium Saturday.”

Kitten update:
We have started putting names to the cats (well over the last week or so). There are 6 all together, 4 boys and 2 girls. The 2 tan/white ones are boys and the other white ones consist of 2 boys and 2 girls.

The first one named was the white runt. He was last born and by far the smallest. But was the first to open his eyes and start roaming. He and the largest tan/white male have been at each other from almost day one. Wife said he was a small brute, so he became Brutus. And of course the large tan/white kitty he likes to fight with became Caesar.

Next named was the other tan/white male. I named him Mourice, after an old cat we used to have that I really miss. Once the kittens started really getting their feet under them my wife noticed that the largest female hopped when she ran, so she became Bunny.

The smaller white female was dubbed Jewel because of her pretty, pale blue eyes. That leaves the other white male. He is a momma’s boy. Last to get the idea of eating the soft food out of the bowl, insisting on momma nursing him. Then my wife caught him sniffing and eating poo from the kittens litter box. She thinks he is not quite right in the head, and she has been calling him Clyde.

I wonder if Steve King has ever read or heard or seen any object documentation/media about the Cuban Revolution of the 1950s, and/or anything which might illuminate the actual history of the place and/or its policies towards “arming” the citizenry?

(Rhetorical question, of course: it’s Steve King: he strikes me as the sort of politico for whom Alex Jones represents the pinnacle of conservative intellectualism).

It’s just odd that, 65+ years on, an American politician is still trying to peddle the old Bay of Pigs delusion: that somehow, if the Cuban people had been “armed” (i.e. an entire nation of gun nuts with everybody and anybody possessing multiple military-grade weapons), they would have somehow “overthrown” Castro and his Communist regime. Ignoring, of course, the fact that most Cubans who did have guns were employing them in support of Fidel and the Revolution, but never mind….

NOTE: No apologism for Castro intended: the Cuban Communist regime was, and still is, a vile dictatorship. It’s just that it’s a vile dictatorship that has always had a non-trivial level of support from the population as a whole.

It is delusion. People like King love to claim if only Holocaust victims were armed totally ignores that many of the collaborators who helped arrest Jews in Eastern Europe were armed too. It’s all part of this pathetic imaginary bad assness that these guys have. Let me the first to say, I want to say I would have been brave had I been in Nazi occupied Europe or the Eastern Bloc but I have no idea what I’d do. And BTW King shows how ignorant he is when he calls the flag Communist, that flag was adapted in 1902 long before Castro was around. And honestly I don’t think Emma deserves lectures from an Iowan who keeps a CSA flag in his office. And secondly how the hell does he know she doesn’t speak Spanish? (when I used to hang out at Doctor Who fanfic communities, it was a constant kerfuffle of having to remind US fanfic writers that Martha and Mickey WERE! NOT! AFRICAN-AMERICAN!! You have to be AMERICAN to be African-American…)

wiki says she was; I genuinely have no idea.

Can confirm.

I can confirm Bruges is a nice place to visit for a day. Take a day to walk around city center. Take a horse carriage ride. It was really nice.

I spent a few days in Brussels, but that was 2 days of “work”, a day trip to Amsterdam (love that city!), a day of visiting other places, and a minor trip in the city to see the Atomium. So I didn’t get out to see the city that much. However, from what I saw it was a nice place.

My experience with NRA fans is that not a single one really cares about children — or anyone else — who dies from gun violence. Their only concern is that they retain their guns. Their right to play with multiple guns is more important than our right to be safe in public places. They didn’t care about Sandy Hook, Las Vegas and Parkland. They will only use these tragedies as a justification to arm more people.

My experience as well. Not one word of sympathy from the NRA nuts I know towards the Parkland kids but a lot of condescending and hateful bullshit telling them they haven’t experienced life. I’d say someone who experienced a mass shooting has experienced far more than a piece of crap gun nut who hides behind gun memes all day.

At the risk of sounding like an outtake from Sheldon Cooper’s Fun With Flags, I’ll point out that the Cuban flag pre-dates even 1902: it was designed by two early Cuban independence activists in 1849: and was formally adopted as the national flag at the establishment of the Republic of Cuba in 1902 (another bit of history I’m sure Steve King is ignorant of).

We just finished watching the Stormy Daniels interview, and if she was on drugs during it, I’m very impressed, as she must have been on some stuff that left no visible effects.
(“Eyes dilated”?? - maybe from TV lights?)
Now they’re really reaching…..

What I would have expected them to jump on was Ms. Daniels’ insistence that her encounter with The Yam was entirely consensual, and her repeated insistence that she “wasn’t a victim”. Of course, the details of their one-night stand spank in Tahoe (?) are of less legal import than the legal chicanery Trump and his idiot lawyer went through to hush Stormy up, but then, sex always sells better than law in the media….

In Illinois, I don’t think a party has any control over who elects to run in their primaries. If a candidate can get enough signatures — and it’s really not too burdensome , they can get on the ballot. Unfortunately, the Republicans did not have any legitimate candidates running for that seat. So it will be up to the Republican party in November to encourage everyone in their district to vote for the Democrat; that shouldn’t be difficult since the Democrat holds Republican views on most issues.

That he’s “outwitted” the DNC and the “RINOs” alike by getting the money because the bill doesn’t say anything about his being restricted from using defense funds for a wall.

TBH the military should hate him the most.

I wouldn’t count on many of them having a clue about the candidate’s position on issues. You really think voters pay attention to the sites we read or the newspaper evaluations of the candidates? People go in the booth totally uninformed. They see a single Republican for a position, they vote for them.

I don’t own a gun, am terrified of them outside of video games with gun attachments of some sort, but I watched enough movies and Mythbusters especially to know you don’t fuck around with them. Don’t point them at anything you don’t plan on shooting because you just might end up shooting it whether you meant to or not.

So, I saw some video (nothing gory) of the fire at that mall in Russia. Whatever the ignition source was - and investigators will find out eventually - that place went up in flames in a manner eerily similar to the infamous 1942 Cocoanut Grove fire.

That mall must’ve been filled to the rafters with highly flammable material that produced intense - and incredibly toxic - amounts of smoke within seconds of ignition. From what I’ve read, that’s almost exactly what happened in the Cocoanut Grove disaster; the firefighters found charred bodies still seated at their tables clutching drinks in their hands….they were overcome by smoke and toxic fumes so intense, they were likely dead within seconds.

Truly horrific.

Follow-up question: “Did Stormy remind Trump of his daughter before or after the spanking”?

NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch’s new NRATV show will be an hour-long attack on the press

The National Rifle Association’s media outlet NRATV has announced that spokesperson Dana Loesch will take on the “lying” media in a new hour-long show debuting March 26. Commentators are increasingly realizing that the NRA — which has a history of making bad-faith attacks on media — uses the national press as a boogeyman to deflect criticism while the group continues to oppose reforms to gun laws amid an ongoing American gun violence epidemic.

Because attacking the press has what to do with the 2A?
