David J. Shulkin Says He Was Fired Because He Opposes Privatizing the VA

Politics • Views: 33,797

The inspector general accused David Shulkin of improperly paying for his wife’s trip to Europe, but in yet another scathing op-ed from a departed Trump official, he writes today in the New York Times that this wasn’t the real reason he was fired.

Shulkin says the Trump gang got rid of him because he opposes privatization of the Department of Veterans Affairs. He identifies privatization as a scheme to enrich “select people and companies with profits, even if it undermines care for veterans.”

And he makes no secret of how he feels about the administration he’s leaving.

I have fought to stand up for this great department and all that it embodies. In recent months, though, the environment in Washington has turned so toxic, chaotic, disrespectful and subversive that it became impossible for me to accomplish the important work that our veterans need and deserve.

One thing that Trump did that I actually approved of was to propose raising money for Veteran’s care by 6%. But privatization more than outweighs any good that will do them.

Not off topic but resonating with Shulkin is a Politico report on how Texas got all the help FEMA could provide and Puerto Rico got sloppy seconds.

POLITICO INVESTIGATION

How Trump favored Texas over Puerto Rico
A POLITICO investigation shows a persistent double standard in the president’s handling of relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Maria.

Examples abound of Trumps racist motives. This one is the largest, at least by area.//

Trump is a con artist.

Trump lies.

Trump wants loyalists. He doesn’t care about competency or skills.

Trump wants to personally profit.

Trump wants his cronies to profit.

All these come into play here. Shulkin’s got his own travel/expense scandal to deal with, but the fact is that everywhere in Trumpworld, Trump admin officials are debased or debasing themselves by sabotaging functioning government in ways large and small that will be felt for generations to come. None of this is good for anyone except the rich who benefit from the tax scam that GOP controlled Congress passed.

I started out at community college since I didn’t have the GPA for a four year school. I took history classes, English, international relations, and even returned two winters back to take a creative writing class. That the POTUS doesn’t seem to know what community colleges are and do is disturbing to say the least.

OPACY was a terrific experience. I had managed to get us really good seats a few rows behind home plate and we met a former CBS sports exec who had season tickets and was with his son. Had to make a swing by Boog’s BBQ, and Elrod Hendricks was in uniform and signing autographs. Elrod would pass away a few months later.

I think what Haberman and others are saying is correct, that Trump now feels like he’s got this job down, and no longer needs to listen to anyone who tells him anything he doesn’t want to hear. This also likely means fewer, if any, scripted speeches where he actually talks about whatever the subject is supposed to be, and more of these crazy-ass, stream-of-unconsciousness rambles.

re: #16 FormerDirtDart 🍕🐀

Trump is a fucking liar who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He gets amplified by Fox and their sycophants and propagandists who spew agitprop 24/7.

He made the claim that the US doesn’t know how to build bridges anymore.

That’s a fucking lie and he’d be able to see from Trump Tower penthouse (where he wont visit because it’d mean a trip into deep Blue NYC territory):

The New Tappan Zee Bridge (35 miles north of NYC but visible from Trump tower). That’d be the longest bridge in the NYC metro area.

The new Goethals bridge.

And there’s also the Bayonne Bridge navigation clearance project that basically rebuilt the road deck 50 feet higher to allow post-panamax ships to use the port.

Everything Trump says is a lie, and the media still refuses to treat it as such - reciting it verbatim. Even in ordinary reporting media outlets need to be including fact he’s lying about what he just stated.

So, you can have an article saying that Trump thinks we don’t know how to build bridges anymore. The next sentence should be that Trump can see these brand new cable stayed spans from his window at Trump tower: Goethals, Tappan Zee, and Kosciusko.

The one area where natgas has an advantage on wind and solar is that without battery storage to smooth production and to deal with ebb/flow of wind and day/night cycle for solar is that natgas is available anytime, and it’s relatively easy for a utility to power on a natural gas plant to generate electricity.

It’s much more difficult and costly to do that with coal, which is why utilities are shuttering coal plants everywhere. One of the biggest polluters in the NYC metro area shut down last year, and they’re already in the process of dismantling the plant because it’s never ever coming back.

Wind turbines can also run air compressors at peak times and create a compressed-air buffer for times of low wind.

Hey Happy,
Sorry I didnt reply in the other thread - went off to lunch. The Rockies are OK but I was born/raised in Kansas and have many fond memories of listening to Royals games with my Grandma. Thus still a Royals fan. It also helps that if there is a worse owner than the Royals it is the Rockies (imho - all because of the product on the field vs the money they make even if the team is horrible).

Also my wife is a teacher at a school that bares the name of the owners of the team so they get special Rockies day where the mascot comes in and the owner comes in. My wife said hi to the owner as he came into her room and he immediately said, ‘don’t ask me for money’ which she was not going to do. The owning family is known for being conservative pricks.

They were widely available before 2013 and were popular for use in paintball and airsoft. Then the ATF started heavily regulating striker style fuses containing black powder fuel trains, presumable over fears that the fuses could be too easily repurposed into homemade explosive grenades. The newer civilian market versions use a pull ring friction igniter that pulls a roughened cable through the ignition compound.

I think what just happened to Laura Ingraham is making it’s way to the NRA right now.

Fox is the excuse maker for the NRA. When they get knocked back by the students in Florida the NRA has got to notice.

Sure, they will strut and mock the kids…but today just showed it is not working.

Steve Schmidt on Wallace’s show said the kids are even showing the Republicans in Congress hiding under their desks scared of Trump that all you have to do is show some strength and stand up to him.

I hope this also is getting to the Democratic National Party and their plans on how to run this year’s and the 2020 elections. Don’t run and hide. Be strong and take Trump on directly and take no prisoners as you do it.

Who knows, the students and the whole gun control movement they have got rolling might just get this country back on the right path politically.

At least it is the best shot we’ve seen in quite a few years.

And if David Hogg forces Fox News to take a look at itself and make some changes…great. Go for it David. Kick some ass.

Have to admit I’m amused as hell by gun owners/advocates playing victim here. Why won’t they talk to us! Well you could stop saying our policy position is why the Holocaust happened. You could stop acting like guns solve everything. You could actually try to see why cities have strict gun laws rather then posting an easily debunked meme about Chicago.

NVIDIA Pauses Self-Driving Vehicle Testing; Confirms DRIVE Wasn’t In Last Week’s Uber Collision

Uber rolled their own crappy software.

While not announced as part of this week’s GTC keynote, during the keynote itself word got out via Reuters that the company had suspended their active testing of their DRIVE autonomous vehicle driving system. Later confirmed and expounded upon by NVIDIA, the company was pausing public road testing of self-driving vehicles in light of last week’s fatal self-driivng Uber collision in Arizona. Noting that they wanted to be able to learn from the incident, they opted to stop and see what the investigation turned up.

And while the pause makes sense for both political and practical reasons, since then there’s bit a bit of confusion over just what NVIDIA’s involvement was with the Uber vehicle in last week’s incident and the timeline of their response. So as part of a GTC press Q&A session yesterday afternoon, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang clarified a few details about the incident - at least to as much as NVIDIA is able and willing to do.

On the hardware side of matters, NVIDIA is confirming that the Uber vehicle was using NVIDIA GPUs, but that it wasn’t using the company’s DRIVE platform. This matches earlier reports that NVIDIA hardware was in the vehicle. Uber for its part has been using NVIDIA GPUs in this fashion since 2016 - including in Arizona - well before the announcement of the closer partnership with NVIDIA back at CES 2018.

Did you know Roger Maris was a Cleveland Indian?

One of many.

A friend and I had an idea for a book. It would be chapters on select great players in baseball with stories about their careers with the teams they became famous. Each chapter would end with the same exact line:

And, at one time he was a member of the Cleveland Indians.

We had enough names to make quite a book. And it would be about the Indians, just indirectly.

Could it be he would get burned bad by one of his own contracts?

You don’t need a specific ID; just know that if it’s Australian, it’s trying to kill you.

I started out at community college since I didn’t have the GPA for a four year school. I took history classes, English, international relations, and even returned two winters back to take a creative writing class. That the POTUS doesn’t seem to know what community colleges are and do is disturbing to say the least.

We have six of twenty-three campuses of the Cal State system that are completely impacted - meaning they get more qualified applicants than they can accept. Most of the Cal State schools have impacted majors (Long Beach State had multiple since the late-90s when I was there), so do multiple UC schools. A lot of Californians have no choice but to go to community colleges before transferring to “four” year schools.

SDSU has long been overrun by the increased population of San Diego.

The CSU system started Cal State San Marcos (in northern San Diego county) to help, but the county is big (geographically as well as population) and if someone lives in the southern part of the county it’s an hour drive or more in traffic one-way, assuming it’s not rush-hour.

The community colleges here are among the largest too.

And since UC San Diego is such a major research institution now, it gets a lot of out-of-state attention.

Anyway, the roles of community colleges is vital to the local communities. Any politician who is not aware of that is living in the dark ages.

Orange County is like that too. We’ve got Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine, Long Beach State is close enough to the border to count as well. Otherwise you’re looking at UC Riverside, Cal Poly Pomona, CSUDH, or CSUN as the next closest.

Oh, fuck. Now they’ll know how much I eat, and how little I exercise.

I think we are seeing another whole huge industry facing some big changes.

Privacy and the digital world. People are going to want that to change because no one reads all that privacy info and contract with the app or program maker. And that led to the mess with Facebook. People did not know the extent they were signing away literally everything with some of the apps and social media etc.

Saw where Tim Cook and some others are going to be on a Chris Hayes/Recode Town Hall about privacy. The early release of some of his comments were pretty strong especially when he said: this about his and Apple’s philosophy:

“Privacy to us is a human right. It’s a civil liberty, and something that is unique to America. This is like freedom of speech and freedom of the press,” Cook said. “Privacy is right up there with that for us.”

And Cook was pretty harsh on Mark Zuckerberg. Ouch!

To be fair Tesla does something similar, they buy DRIVE PX components and then have them assembled into their own custom boards that was somewhere between the PX2 Autocruise and Autochauffeur in capability. Musk, being Musk, also goes too far in advertising this hardware as being capable of handling full Level 5 self driving in the future, something Nvidia absolutely does not think possible. Nvidia says the DRIVE PX Pegasus is their first self driving computer that will be capable of doing that.

But at least Tesla makes their computer easy to switch out and promises that if the current hardware is underpowered that they will upgrade it for free for anybody who has already pre-paid for full self driving functionality. Meanwhile they’re gaining tons of Level 2 data in real world conditions, though I honestly wish that Musk was more up front and less of a salesman about shit like this.

And Cook was pretty harsh on Mark Zuckerberg. Ouch!

Here is a link with more and about the special show itself.

I think we are in the midst of a paradigm shift on privacy. It’s a bit more than the “right to be left alone” as some courts have described it. But there’s also the issue of what constitutes private and what is public.

Beyond that, there’s the inherent problem with a lot of social media where we “users” were actually the product not the customers.

We inherited Mrs. FBW’s Grandmother’s and Mother’s wedding silverware, and my Mom got a set when she got married, but I don’t think any of the 6 of us got silverware when we got married.

We used her Mom’s silver for a while, but the dishwasher was leaving it with a dull oxidation, and then we inherited her Grandmother’s stainless, which is enough for at least 12 place settings. All I know is we never run out of spoons anymore!

The past couple of days, more than a couple of Lizards have told me straight-up, “I’ll never watch it!”; yeah, in the show, Dan and Roseanne voted for Trump (who was unnamed in the episode) and Jackie, who intended to vote for Hillary (also unnamed in the episode) but, due to jitters and self-doubt brought on by Roseanne, voted for Jill Stein (who was named and made into a punchline).

There were maybe enough lines in the first episode to count on one hand that were overtly political; the rest of the first episode and all of the second were politics-free and were pretty much standard pre-season 9 Roseanne episodes.

Even though Roseanne is a Truther and a Trumpist IRL, people seem to forget that she was a hot mess during the show’s first run too; the thing that made the first time around so good and enjoyable wasn’t just her, but the entire cast; I’ll say that should be the yardstick this time around, too.

Heh, ‘No collusion.’ Sure thing, Spanky.

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team last year made clear it wanted former Trump campaign deputy Rick Gates’ help, not so much against his former business partner Paul Manafort, but with its central mission: investigating the Trump campaign’s contact with the Russians. New information disclosed in court filings and to CNN this week begin to show how they’re getting it.

In a court filing earlier this week, the public saw the first signs of how the Mueller team plans to use information from Gates to tie Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman, directly to a Russian intelligence agency. Mueller’s team alleges that Gates was in contact with a close colleague of Manafort’s who worked for a Russian intelligence agency — and that Gates knew of the spy service ties in September and October 2016, while he worked on the Trump campaign. Gates would have to talk about the communication with the man if prosecutors wanted, according to his plea deal.

The Parkland shooting suspect has fans, and they’re sending him letters and moneyParkland shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz has been receiving volumes of fan mail at the Florida jail where he is being held.

In a pattern seen before with others accused of violent crimes, Cruz, who is charged with 17 counts of murder in the massacre at the school, has been sent sexually suggestive photographs, greeting cards, encouragement and other kind notes, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, which obtained copies of some of the missives.

Broward County Public Defender Howard Finkelstein, whose office represents Cruz, said he was concerned about Cruz’s growing notoriety.

Just catching up from yesterday and dredging up “Dave In Austin”s question on the WannaCry Virus attack on Boeing up from last thread.

There has been a number of major virus attacks in the past few days. A number of nation-state actors have been working on this, including China, Russia, Iran and North Korea. As well as the US, most of Europe, and Israel. The Russians in particular have been using this capability against states they want to pressure or attack, including Ukraine and the Baltic States.

Please note that the US Feds and states have not yet said anything about any attacks on their systems. (Which may be different from whether they were attacked.)

“Last Friday, the City of Atlanta was struck by a ransomware attack that took much of the city’s internal and external services offline. “

“In the case of the Baltimore 911 system, the type of ransomware attack is not yet clear, but the city’s top information systems official confirmed that Baltimore’s computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system was taken offline by ransomware. “

“And yesterday, Boeing’s Charleston facility—which manufactures components for Boeing’s 777 and other commercial jets, and for the Air Force’s KC-46 tanker—was struck by what was initially reported to be WannaCry malware.”

(I understand that Boeing’s HQ in Chicago was also affected.)

arstechnica.com

“The city of Denver’s website was offline for hours on Wednesday, as were numerous government computer and phone systems, including the text-to-911 system.”

denverite.com

From March 1st article:

“Eight days into a ransomware attack, state information technology officials detected more malicious activity on the Colorado Department of Transportation computer systems Thursday.”

Even though Roseanne is a Truther and a Trumpist IRL, people seem to forget that she was a hot mess during the show’s first run too; the thing that made the first time around so good and enjoyable wasn’t just her, but the entire cast; I’ll say that should be the yardstick this time around, too.

The yardstick may be the same but the context against which it is measuring has changed. Her hot mess isn’t just an abstract spectacle any more, it’s a reflection of very real harm being inflicted on vulnerable minorities, and for the rest of the cast to co-sign onto this mercenary attempt at normalization is inexcusable.

So, your view of Goodman, Gilbert (who is also a co-producer of the revival), Metcalf, Galecki, Fishman, Goransen, and Chalke is that they’re all “mercenaries” for doing this and pretty much “fuck all of them”, because Roseanne, IRL, is pretty much still the same POS she was during their first round?

I started out at community college since I didn’t have the GPA for a four year school. I took history classes, English, international relations, and even returned two winters back to take a creative writing class. That the POTUS doesn’t seem to know what community colleges are and do is disturbing to say the least.

Also appalling since he gave his major opioid address at Manchester Community College in New Hampshire forcing the school to cancel classes for a day.

I’m sure they’ll all be just heartrended at your extreme disapproval.

As long as the show’s got the politics out of its system, I may just continue to watch it, because I’m not watching it particularly for Roseanne, I’m watching it for the rest of the cast.

re: #247 goddamnedfrank

The yardstick may be the same but the context against which it is measuring has changed. Her hot mess isn’t just an abstract spectacle any more, it’s a reflection of very real harm being inflicted on vulnerable minorities, and for the rest of the cast to co-sign onto this mercenary attempt at normalization is inexcusable.

I occasionally watched the original “Rosanne.” I will not watch the mainstreaming of her hateful views and conspiracy theories by a major media outlet (even if I did own a television set).

As one commentator said to Sarah Silverman, so you’re totes cool with a Cosby reboot?

I don’t give money to Chik-fil-A even though I like their sandwiches, because of their owners using that money to support hatred and bigotry. Rosanne Barr does the same thing.

I don’t care about the so-called angst between the characters of the show for voting different ways. The show mainstreams propaganda that hatred and bigotry is just another point of view. It is another point of view, one that should be banished from society. ABC is pulling the same magic balance fairy crap the press gets accused of, except with a sit-com.

Trump’s real estate was so highly leveraged that all of his real estate deals are now trademark/merchandising deals. Slap the name on the construction some other real estate business owns and operates.

He couldn’t do design build of his own stuff, so he’s got someone else doing it.

And he’s still highly leveraged because of all those bad business decisions. The trademarking deals have helped him, but if his corporate value loses, then he’ll start to see those naming rights deals fall apart too and what little cash flow he has will stop to a trickle.

I did not know till very recently that this classic horror film was based on an actual book, The Year of the Angry Rabbit by quite a good Australian writer named Russell Braddon.
He is best known for The Naked Island, based on his experience as a prisoner of the Japanese during World War II.
Another former PoW of the Japanese, Pierre Boulle, also became famous for a novel about his experiences, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and for one about terrifying animal mutations, Planet of the Apes.

Nebraska on Pace to Pass Budget Targeting Abortion Providers (Scottsbluff, Nebr. Star-Herald, more at the link):

Nebraska inched closer Wednesday to passing a budget that could deny federal money to Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, at least temporarily, despite furious opposition from a handful of lawmakers.

Lawmakers advanced a budget measure that would prevent health clinics from getting family-planning dollars if they perform, counsel in favor of or refer patients to abortion services.

The bill also would require health clinics to demonstrate physical, financial and legal separation from abortion providers. Although supporters said Planned Parenthood could still qualify, opponents said the group won’t have time to legally separate its abortion and non-abortion services before the bill becomes law.

Referrals would still be allowed in emergencies under the newest version of the measure, crafted as a compromise to help push it through a legislative filibuster. One group that opposes abortion hailed the bill as “good news for pro-life Nebraskans.”

Well, gun violence sells more guns too. Every time there’s a mass sacrifice, the gun cult rushes immediately to buy more, to show libtards that they still love guns, to show guns they still love them, and so just in case the feds maybe add a small regulation somewhere, there won’t be any reduction in the amount of sacrifice.

And that is the key to breaking their propaganda.

People have seen that when the advocates are the surviving victims, the attacks from conservatives and the NRA are attacking victims. Any such shooting in the future will now likely be met the same way: By the survivors being the advocates.

The days of “now is not the time to poiticise gun violence” are over.

Rosanne openly supports in real life someone who is only a short step away from becoming an authoritarian dictator. I have no doubt that Donald Trump would initiate a genocide if he thought he could get away with it.

And propagating the Pizzagate and Seth Rich conspiraderp rises to the level of supporting criminals as well.

That does not make me “off my nut.” What Laura Ingraham said about David Hogg was “legal” as well. So why the outrage against her and not Rosanne Barr?

What the owners of Chik-fil-A and Jimmy John’s and Hobby Lobby and all sorts of others do is legal too. That does not mean I am required to support them with my limited money either. Or does my personal boycott of Hobby Lobby also make me “off my nut” because the store simply sells craft supplies, the opinions of their owners and how they would use my money doesn’t matter?

303
Belafon  Mar 29, 2018 • 5:12:12pm

I’ve only ever watched a little bit of Roseanne, but a segment from an episode was actually really good. It was John Goodman’s character talking to the son. From what I gather of the conversation, the episode had involved the dad making comments denigrating minorities and the son being involved in the school’s production of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet was being played by a black schoolmate, and the son, playing Romeo, was pushing back on having to kiss her by making the same statements his dad was (I don’t know if it occurred at school or only at home). After hearing it, though, John pulls him aside and says something to the effect of “You never know how bad what you say sounds until you hear it from the mouth of your son,” and then proceeds to apologize and try to set things right. I had to move on after that, so I don’t know what came of it, though, being a TV show, I’m assuming the play went on and he kissed the girl. But I did think that was a good segment.

Cheyenne County, Nebr. (the county south of me) has lost 4% of its population in the last year due to the closure of Cabela’s corporate headquarters in Sidney. The mayor of Sidney notes the population of the county is the lowest in twenty-five years.

starherald.com (Scottsbluff, Nebr. Star-Herald)

New population estimates for July 2017 show that Cheyenne County lost nearly 400 residents over the previous year — nearly 4 percent of its population. The county’s new estimated population of 9,676 is its lowest in 25 years.

The population setback only figures to get worse. Bass Pro, the company that acquired Cabela’s and is closing down its Sidney corporate headquarters, just this month gave buyouts to 300 employees, with hundreds of other buyouts pending.

“When you take into account what has already happened and what is going to happen, you are going to see a pretty good whack to its local population,” said David Drozd, a demographer with the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Center for Public Affairs Research.

Strange goings on in Lubbock, and a likely example of a lax attitude toward regulation.

Some background: A house blew up in the Tech Terrace neighborhood of Lubbock Tuesday night, killing two people. One of the dead, 73 year old John Flemming, ran a business called E2Amm LLC out of the home. The company manufactures hydrogen and ammonia modules (tanks).

Hazmat back on scene of Tech Terrace house explosion

The Lubbock Fire Rescue Hazmat team was called back to the site of a deadly house explosion around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, focusing their investigation in the back yard of a home next door.
Our crew grabbed a photo of a metal tank in the driveway of that home that looks like it exploded.
We will continue to update this story as more details are released.
The explosion happened just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night at a home in the 2900 block of 21st Street.
Witnesses said the explosion was felt several blocks away. Windows in the house across the street were shattered by the blast. A house on the corner of 21st & Canton actually had a piece of debris from the explosion land on their roof.
According to the Lubbock Police Department, multiple victims were found at the scene when they arrived.

The other person killed was a neighbor who was apparently trying to help, indicating an initial fire and then an explosion. Five other people, including 3 firefighters, were injured in the incident.

I read Daniel Dale’s whole thread on Trump’s speech, and I gotta tell you, it’s depressing. A significant chunk of our fellow citizens listen to that shit and think it’s not only just fine, it’s GREAT! Honest to god, we elected the talkative drunk at the end of the bar.

A New Jersey company that bought twenty-one nursing homes in our area went three weeks without paying employees, and was placed in receivership by the state.

The employees are still working despite not being paid, because they will not leave their charges unattended. The state is working to get them paid.

I hope those injured by lack of regulation recover soon.

Practice, practice, practice. The Sidney, Nebr. High School choir has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall next month. That is most kewl.

suntelegraph.com (Sidney Sun-Telegraph)

Sidney High School’s choir has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York city next month.

The choir, under the direction of David Mead, received the invitation after performing the work “Sleep,” by Composer Eric Whitaker, on an audition recording. The group learned by mid-week last week that its recording had been well received, and after further review by officials from Distinguished Concerts International New York City, they were officially invited to perform.

The concert, a performance of The Music of Eric Whitaker, is part of the DCINY Concert Series in New York City and will take place Sunday, April 28 in the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. The Sidney musicians will join others from around the world to form the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir of distinction that will perform under the direction of the Composer.

He does not appear to have been a crank, except in terms of over-estimating what he could do without adequate facilities and engineering support, apparently including experimentation with ammonia and hydrogen fuels.

Austin Police chief in a panel discussion on NPR now says he is comfortable calling the Austin bomber a domestic terrorist.

kut.org (KUT radio, text article)

Interim Austin Police Chief Brian Manley called the Austin serial bomber a “domestic terrorist” at a panel hosted by KUT this morning.

Despite previous calls from the community after a string of bombings killed 39-year-old Stephan House and 17-year-old Draylen Mason, Manley hadn’t used the term. At the panel, he said he’s now “very comfortable” calling Mark Conditt a terrorist.

“I actually agree now that he was a domestic terrorist for what he did to us,” Manley said to the crowd gathered at the George Washington Carver Museum in East Austin for a panel examining the bombings’ impact on communities of color.

Oh no, Erick, son of Erick, you are quite wrong. Corporations are allowed to adhere to any view they want, if they so desire. We are perfectly allowed to tell them to get bent if we don’t share that same view, however. When, after a crazy year trying to start a company after my crazy old boss finally went ‘round the bend, I got a real paying job (despite him telling me “Nobody will hire you! You’re too closely associated with me”), Mrs FBW said, “Tell them you’ll start a week later, because WE’RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!”

Sounds like your old boss was a major fucking dick.

For the second time in a year, The Intercept gets their hands on classified documents. Then they submitted FOIA requests for documents they already had.

The Intercept made two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the FBI in late March 2016. The requests contained specific information identifying the names of documents that were not available to the public. In addition, the FBI identified about 27 secret documents published by The Intercept between April 2016 and February 2017.

“The FBI believes that the classified and/or controlled nature of the documents indicates the News Outlet obtained these documents from someone with direct access to them,” according to the warrant. “Furthermore, reviews of the FBI internal records indicate ALBURY has electronically accessed over two thirds of the approximately 27 documents via trusted access granted to him on FBI information systems.”

One of The Intercept’s FOIA requests, dated March 29, 2016, asked for copies of a specific document classified as secret. The document, titled Confidential Human Source Assessing, gives tips for agents on how to cultivate informants.

Ten months later, the news outlet posted the same document it requested to its website and to DocumentCloud, a repository of public documents.

The FBI said it believes that The Intercept had a copy of the document and others before making the FOIA request. The Intercept then “used its knowledge of such documents to create the FOIA requests,” according to the warrant.

Plus Erick is caught up in that same problem Laura Ingraham is caught in: Attacking the advocates is the same as attacking victims in this case. Coupled with probably hundreds of thousands of teenagers across the nation monitoring conservatives on social media, they get called out almost instantly.

It would appear teenagers are finally going to hold conservatives accountable for their actions.

Trump is murdering the power of the bully pulpit.

The orange one thinks he’s a master, but wields power like a rank amateur: does it bluntly, with no finesse and fritters away 90% of his striking power. He’s still dangerous, but he’s not even at the brawling level (let alone a Chuck Norris level…and it’s a joke to ever refer to Bruce here) of using power.

I mean, I get the self promotion. But she’s just making a list here, and Fox News is ahead of faith, family, and freedom. And “Final Thoughts” is a death metal song by a band called Obituary.
