Trump Gives EPA Saboteur Scott Pruitt the Kiss of Death: “We’ve Got Your Back”

Politics • Views: 31,882

As the worst EPA chief in history gets ever deeper into hot water, Trump reportedly called him yesterday to give him the infamous Kiss of Death: Trump Told Embattled EPA Chief ‘We’ve Got Your Back.’

President Donald Trump called his embattled environmental chief Monday to assure him his job is safe amid mounting scrutiny of Scott Pruitt’s travel, hiring practices and an unorthodox condo rental arrangement last year, according to two administration officials.

The president told Pruitt, the Environmental Protection Agency administrator, to “keep your head up” and “keep fighting,” because the White House has “got your back” said one of the officials, who asked not to be identified discussing personnel matters. That message was reinforced by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly in a telephone call to Pruitt on Tuesday morning.

As difficult as it may be to imagine, I’m sure Trump will manage to replace Pruitt with someone who is worse.

From previous thread… This is about the Lithuanian President making a statement that MSNBC unilaterally interpreted via Tweet as “praise” for Trump, but it’s not as simple as it looks…

re: #297 jaunte

“We’re going to make the best of this whackjob and suggest that one day he might be pointed at you.”

Yeah, I was looking at that, wondering if it was code speak:

[Lithuanian President Grybauskaitė] “We need leadership, sometimes for decision making, even unpredictable leadership … for rivals to believe that we can make a decision.”

So, who are the “rivals”? MSNBC interprets the statement as “praise” for Mr Trump, but I daresay a lot of Lithuanians would interpret “rivals” as “Russia”, and would interpret Mr Trump’s pro-Russia statements accordingly.

The deadpool for Pruitt is definitely on. Trump doesn’t know when he’s going to fire him, but it’ll be by tweet because Trump is a wimp and can’t deal with actual confrontation. He rather screw everyone working for him instead of manning up and doing it directly.

No one in Trumpworld knows what they’re doing, and Trump fires people on whims. He also hires the same way - if he likes how they look or if they tell him what he wants to hear.

Pruitt is disposable at this point. He’s gone a long way to destroying the EPA and undermining its function and purpose by gutting environmental regulations. But his ongoing scandals makes him disposable. Pruitt can’t take more scandals than Trump.

If you do, you’re gone.

Thing is, everyone in Trumpworld is corrupt, compromised, and complicit. Trump’s not exactly bringing in fresh blood. He’s picking off Faux News people, and shuffling people around from existing jobs.

So of course Trump will then rail about how Congress isn’t confirming picks. Mind you, the GOP controls the Senate, and they can’t confirm for positions that Trump hasn’t even bothered to nominate for. Democrats aren’t blocking anything.

This clusterfuck is brought to you by the GOP.

Active duty military can be sent to the border to “support” operations. They simply can not participate in any actual law enforcement activities. They can not apprehend, or detain anyone. They could possibly be used as exterior security/immediate reaction force if detention facilities are established.

That’s not how Trump thinks they’ll be used. And that’s not what the GOP will want them to do. And that’s not what the military is supposed to be doing.

You want to destroy morale and ruin the military? Put them on border patrol duty.

Considering that they can’t actually do any law enforcement, apprehend, or detain, then they’re all for show - and at tremendous cost.

Trump thinks the military can be the US Police Force from Escape from NY/LA.

15 towns participated in April 3, 2018 Area-Wide Prayer Gathering (KCBD) -

Surrounding towns on the South Plains came together on April 3 for an “Area-Wide Prayer Gathering,” involving 15 towns. The event was from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The idea for the prayer gathering came due to the lack of rain, but a couple of years ago there was a similar gathering where Brownfield, Lamesa and Seminole participated.

The gatherings prayed for rain, our nation, national and local leaders, public security for our schools and workplaces, our first responders, and military.

The gatherings happened in 15 towns around the South Plains.

Lord Trump has not responded with any more rain but he did tweet his new border proposals so the worshipers will probably be thankful and again praise his name.

If the Chinese retaliatory tariffs are indeed going to impact “Trump Country”, I think it would behoove Democrats to stress the economic negatives of Trump’s BS trade war, and point out that they are a direct result of the Talking Yam’s incompetent and counterproductive leadership. And put local and national Republicans on the defensive having to support or oppose them on the basis of local interests. It may not fly in the deepest red counties/states: but there have to be enough “purple” districts, and farm-country Democrats to able to take up the slack and make serious challenges. And only an Opposition Congress is what is needed to save the country from GOP folly.

Now, if the President directs states to deploy ANG troops to the border area, he’s federalized them. And, therefore they can not execute law enforcement activities either.
How you would work around this (as they did in the past) is set up observation posts. ANG sees border crossing, calls in CBP to apprehend. Or, ANG troops augment CBP vehicle patrols by providing drivers, while they could not arrest/detain anyone, they can legally “defend” a CBP officer in a confrontation

Not backing down. The horde invaded the inner sanctum of the Temple of Rand, aka the Capitol Chamber, and demanded money for the work they do. The effrontery!

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Hundreds of teachers walked out of classrooms and crammed into the Oklahoma Capitol for a second day on Tuesday, shouting “Where’s our money?” to demand more aid for public schools, amid a rebellion of educators in Republican-led states across the country.

Rowdy teachers booed lawmakers when the Oklahoma House adjourned. House officials initially called on state troopers to clear the gallery of protesting teachers but later backed off. Education advocates filled the Capitol to capacity, and troopers limited access to the building.

As they said on Pod Save America today, Democrats need to draw a line between Trump’s corruption and how it hurts normal people. They need to do the same with Trump’s policies. When Trump starts railing against NAFTA point out that NAFTA is the reason there are so many fresh fruits and vegetables in your grocery store year round. Gettting rid of NAFTA means those fresh fruits and vegetables go away.

I think it’s been done by other presidents, but they used the National Guard. Trump seems to have visions of the US Army fighting back an invading horde with bayonets.

I think her seriously thinks this “caravan” is going to try to ram the border fence and force their way in. I think his envisioning something out of “The Road Warrior”.

That’s particularly important to note since the CBP frequently sets up border stops up to 100 miles inland from the border. And since the majority of Americans live within this area, the odds are high that American citizens’ rights will be violated as well.

Yeah, if the CBP wanted to be real assholes, they could set up checkpoints in any coastal city. People would come stark staring unglued over a citizenship check in New York City. But no, these guys are racist. They’ll turn Tucson into an armed camp first.

The Tohono O’Odham has a somewhat tense relationship with the feds because the tribe is on both sides of the border.

The deadpool for Pruitt is definitely on. Trump doesn’t know when he’s going to fire him, but it’ll be by tweet because Trump is a wimp and can’t deal with actual confrontation. He rather screw everyone working for him instead of manning up and doing it directly.

When Trump need to divert attention from a big story is when Pruitt gets the axe.

Also figure in the Friday factor. I think that comes into play on a particularly bad news week.

Scott Pruitt tried to let only a Fox camera into the room for his announcement today on reducing fuel efficiency standards, CNN reports; Fox informed its competitors, and they created a pool. Pruitt also did not nivite most reporters who cover the EPA.

Why don’t they just hire FOX News as the White House Press Secretary?
