Watch Live: Mike Pompeo Senate Confirmation Hearing

Politics • Views: 29,117

Here we see the Senate Foreign Relations Committee interviewing Donald Trump’s latest extreme right wing religious fanatic tied to radical anti-Muslim hate groups, nominated to a position he shouldn’t be anywhere near. With people like John Bolton and Mike Pompeo, Trump is stacking his administration with war-mongering Christian supremacists. This can’t end well.

Personally, my favorite exchange so far remains Mike insisting that it’s totally consistent to say that he can’t recall what was said at a key meeting prior to Comey’s termination, BUT he’s totally sure that Trump did not mention any implied orders to shut down Comey or the investigation he was leading.

Got my taxes done. Used CreditKarma because its free to use and file, but it won’t let me use the status I want for my state return, so I’ll have to snail-mail it.

Trump’s talking again… and again with all the usual Trump flourishes. Empty platitudes and nonsense while claiming he’s doing better than every predecessor (especially Obama).

All the time, money, and resources for these confirmation hearings for someone that likely be fired (or will quit) in the next 6 months. FFS.

President Trump told top administration officials Thursday to look at rejoining the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the multination trade agreement he pulled the United States out of shortly after taking office.

Rejoining the pact would be a major reversal as Trump escalates a trade conflict with China. The Pacific Rim trade deal was intended by the Obama administration as a way to counter China’s influence, but Trump criticized the pact as a candidate and pulled the United States out of the pact in early 2017.

No, it didn’t.

Trump folds again like a cheap suit after making promises he couldn’t keep and which made no sense.

Now he’s going to claim that he’s going to get the TPP renegotiated after everyone else already adopted it. That’s not going to happen either.

Trump: ‘Can we join the partnership?’

TPP: ‘Well, maybe. Go sit in the back and wait, we’ll think about it.’

i would add “that he didnt understand”
though that pretty much applies to everything he does and i guess is redundant

TPP: we seem to have done ok without you, so not sure we need you. what are you bringing to the table? snacks at least.

I’m hoping that, while being diplomatic about it, the TPP takes the opportunity to humiliate Trump to the fullest extent possible.

Anyone who didn’t realize that backing out of the TPP would have hurt our standing in the world was a moron. Anyone who wanted to back out of it was either a moron or a coward.

re: #20 Belafon

If you mean this one, I haven’t heard any yet.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo failed to disclose last year that he owned a Kansas business that imported oilfield equipment from a company owned by the Chinese government.

That omission, on the questionnaire Pompeo was required to fill out for Senate confirmation to lead the spy agency, could cause a problem for him in Thursday’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to be President Donald Trump’s secretary of state.

Self-induced reality star drama. Now the stock market will respond by gangbusters and dotard will take credit for it.

And then Trump will get pissed when the other TPP members say that we have to do certain things and will scream about putting tariffs on all of them and the market will tank to the point it’ll have to close early.

Hecuba's daughter  Apr 12, 2018 • 12:02:57pm

So our bipolar market is up again — possibly anticipating our rejoining TPP and that nothing much will come of Trump’s faux belligerence toward Syria.

Woot!

Steve Stockman, a Republican former congressman from Texas, has been convicted of defrauding two conservative mega-donors and funneling their $1.25 million into personal and campaign expenses as part of what prosecutors have described as a “white collar crime spree.”

A jury in federal court in Houston ruled Thursday afternoon that Stockman is guilty of all but one of the 24 felonies he was charged with last March.

In no order, I try to live by the following, each prefaced by “as much as possible”:

Don’t do unto anybody else what you wouldn’t like to be done to you.

Respect other’s property and respect the responsibilities that come with owning, managing and using your own

Be honest

Don’t cause pain

Don’t murder humans and don’t kill (anything) indiscriminately

I’ve observed that any set of simply put moral rules actually requires a lot of wording, interpretation and explanation behind it, lest they get misunderstood, misapplied or worse, perversely spun.

This is a parody site but the list is mostly real. I don’t know what “dank meme stashing” is but most, if not all, of the others have appeared in various fundy lists of satanic phenomena. Shows how hard it is to be more absurd that Bachmann’s actual supporters.
