LYRICS

everybody ought to treat a stranger right, long ways from home

everybody ought to treat a stranger right, a long ways from home

be careful how you treat a stranger, by belying you turn him away

but the fear that he might endanger will drive him from your gate

chorus

be mindful of your speaking, careful how you go along

you must always treat a poor stranger right and accept him in your home

chorus

all of us down here are strangers, none of us have no home

don’t ever hurt your brother and cause him to feel alone

chorus

everybody ought to treat a stranger right

I remember that because I was on a Federal jury trial. We were in the US Courthouse when the case proceedings were stopped and a security scan was done. The scan wasn’t just done with us, it was done with the Los Angeles City, County and State courts at the same time. We were all in the jury room watching the TV along with Federal judges, attorneys and their support staff. We were dismissed for the day at noon. I went home just numb…

I was 12 years old just weeks away from turning 13.

To a degree. Lowell used a 7/16th inch Craftsman extended socket wrench as his slide, and Ry is using a 40 ml VOC bottle.

The backbeat is is definitely Fess, though.

Like I knew it’d be bad but to actually see it. I’m on my fourth President I’ve observed at some depth, not counting Bush I and Reagan since I was so young when they left office and Clinton, Bush II, & Obama, they just don’t compare. I hated Bush especially in his first term but I’d been shocked to see him doing the things Trump does daily and his allies just shrug even though it’s completely unpresidential. I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to explain this era when I’m older.

For me that goes back to Richard Nixon. What I see now is simply the same sort of conservative corruption at the speed of the Internet.

That day I remember far more since I was around the same age you were for OKC. I don’t remember OKC itself as much as the aftermath and McVeigh and Nichols’ trial.

Just to remind the class, the wingnuts were dancing with glee earlier today about a criminal referral for McCabe that he leaked info to the press about an ongoing investigation.

Not even 24 hours later, the House GOP happily did same, to absolute silence from the “law and order” crowd.

“…Avenatti is now alleging that he has evidence of bank fraud involving Michael Cohen, which he has almost certainly shared with the F.B.I. And the F.B.I. may soon respond in kind: “We expect to have access to at least some of what was seized at some point in the near future,” he added. (The Department of Justice declined comment.) And what might that yield? Avenatti’s preferred scenario is that it would cough up proof that Trump not only knew about Cohen’s payments to Daniels and other women, but compensated Cohen from campaign funds. But he believes the true smoking gun is a so-called Suspicious Activities Report (S.A.R.) reportedly created by the Treasury Department earlier this year after a bank is reported to have flagged Cohen’s account for dubious transactions. (The Treasury Department and First Republic Bank did not provide a comment to The Wall Street Journal, which broke the story, while Cohen called it “fake news.”) “That is a critical document at this juncture of the case,” said Avenatti. If such a report existed it could very well describe a narrative of events in which monies were moved from bank account to bank account in an effort to cover up campaign payments to Trump’s alleged mistresses. “The importance of that document cannot be overstated,” he said.

While his request for the document has been met with radio silence by the Treasury Department, the F.B.I. may well have it—Avenatti speculates that it could be the blueprint for the entire investigation The way Avenatti talks about the report brings to mind Woodward and Bernstein’s discovery, in 1972, of the $25,000 bank deposit from a Nixon campaign-finance chairman into the account of one of the Watergate burglars.”

Have you caught your breath yet?

Going by Nunes’ statement downstairs, the talking point springing from this leak is “This proves Trump totally wanted Russia investigated and so he wouldn’t oppose it or fire Comey to end it!” Except they own-goaled themselves (yet again) because the memos show Comey was right when he said Trump was totally consumed with disproving the allegations made against him personally and wanted Comey to only look into those. Any allegations made about the election? Trump had no interest whatsoever and every motivation to kill the investigation once it headed that direction.

How American Democracy Fails Its Way to Success (Foreign Affiars, the lede):

As Americans struggle to make sense of a series of uncomfortable economic changes and disturbing political developments, a worrying picture emerges: of ineffective politicians, frequent scandals, racial backsliding, polarized and irresponsible news media, populists spouting quack economic remedies, growing suspicion of elites and experts, frightening outbreaks of violence, major job losses, high-profile terrorist attacks, anti-immigrant agitation, declining social mobility, giant corporations dominating the economy, rising inequality, and the appearance of a new class of super-empowered billionaires in finance and technology-heavy industries.

That, of course, is a description of American life in the 35 years after the Civil War. The years between the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, in 1865, and that of President William McKinley, in 1901, were among the least inspiring in the history of U.S. politics. As Reconstruction proved unsuccessful and a series of devastating depressions and panics roiled the economy, Washington failed miserably to rise to the challenges of the day.

The years between the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, in 1865, and that of President William McKinley, in 1901, were among the least inspiring in the history of U.S. politics.

And often under-remembered.

Time travel stories often get caught up with assassinations but especially Lincoln, as if going back and stopping his assassination would be a big change in American politics and policy.

I assert that the second assassination, of McKinley, would make for a much more interesting time-travel story, as the death of McKinley leads to Teddy Roosevelt becoming President and then Wilson, both of whom made major impacts on domestic and foreign policy.

Definitely. It’s interesting to wonder who becomes president in 1904 if McKinley lives.

I am worried about two possible outcomes from the Mueller probe:

1. Trump somehow gets exonerated (terrible precedent and the gloating will be unbearable).

2. Mueller nails almost everyone in Trumps inner circle but can’t get enough on Trump himself to bring him down. Trump survives, throws everyone else under the bus and gets reelected in 2020.

If those scenarios have you worried, I think you should probably change your expectations a little.

Robert Mueller is not going to bring down a sitting president, not even this fake one. America is not willing to have a sitting president brought into court for a crime, especially not a white male one. American institutions, American centres of power, won’t allow that to happen. The American President has historically been a revered figure, much more akin to royalty than a democratically elected head of state, and even with this Caligula desecrating it, some people still think of the institution in that way. More importantly, though, this particular president represents the inner soul of millions of Americans, and specifically millions of Americans who have been the most important and privileged members of society for most of the nation’s history. To put him on trial, to ‘bring him down’, would require America’s institutions to consciously tear the hearts out of America’s most cherished and protected constituency. And even now, even with that constituency being so debased, America’s institutions simply are not willing to do that. Republicans won’t allow it. The US media won’t allow it.

The realistic best case scenario involves a weakened president Trump lashing out ineffectually for a couple more years, and hopefully being stopped in his madness from implementing nakedly fascist policies by a Democratic House. The best case scenario after that involves the US media deciding, hopefully, that they stand to gain more by salaciously tearing Trump down than getting him re-elected.

Half that House is part of gerrymandering to gain and maintain power.

It is the responsibility of Congress, not the courts, to remove a President.

Anything Mueller finds on Trump should be part of an impeachment hearing. Mueller can throw others in jail, but removing the President really is vested in the powers of the combined House and Senate.

It is their responsibility.

Are they shirking it? Yes, it is pretty clear by now that there should be impeachment hearings based on several breaches of law and conduct.

This is why the elections in 2018 are so important.

Well, he didn’t attack the Republicans in question, just mused on what they thought they might be doing with the release.

He didn’t say something like “you hypocrites accusing Democrats of leaking information, then doing it yourself.”

Relax. (1) is what Trump will claim and it won’t be true. (2a) is quite possible, but (2b) is unlikely.

Black mayoral candidate says Confederate flags were placed in his yard

This is in Lubbock, named for Confederate bushwhacker and noted slavery enthusiast Thomas Saltus Lubbock.

Lubbock was a strong secessionist, characterized as a “very worthy and zealous” Knight of the Golden Circle.

The Knights of the Golden Circle (KGC) “was” a secret society in the mid-19th-century United States. The original objective of the KGC was to annex a “golden circle” of territories in Mexico, Central America, Confederate States of America, and the Caribbean as slave states, to be led by Maximilian I of Mexico.

As abolitionism in the United States increased after the Dred Scott Decision of 1857, the members proposed a separate confederation of slave states, with U.S. states south of the Mason-Dixon line to secede and to align with other slave states to be formed from the “golden circle”. In either case, the goal was to increase the power of the Southern slave-holding upper class to such a degree that it could never be dislodged.

The original Ku Klux Klan took some of its symbolism and nomenclature, as well as more than a few members, from the KGC. There are a great many legends and conspiracy theories about the organization, mostly having to do with buried treasure, but including claims that the organization continued to exist in secret, and even does so to this day.

I agree. My 2 cents is Trump will not run in 2020, and will retire to Mar-a-lago to finish his days in peaceful dementia. At worst, he may be lead to resign, with the same promises, if his crimes are too glaring. He will never be indicted.

Lawlessness abounds under the new conservative cruelty …

Upstate NY farmer says ICE officers stormed his farm without a warrant, cuffed him, threw his phone (Syracuse, NY Post-Standard)

Rome, N.Y. — John Collins was standing outside the milk house at his dairy farm this morning when he heard yelling coming from inside. He ran in, he says, and saw his worker, Marcial de Leon Aguilar, pinned up against the window by armed men.

The men did not identify themselves and were screaming at Aguilar, Collins said.

“I run and say, ‘What the hell is going on in here?’” Collins said.

Then the men told Collins they were officers with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He asked them for a warrant or some paperwork to explain what they were doing. They had none, he said, so he ordered them to get off his property and leave Aguilar alone.

As this happened, Collins said, Aguilar’s children watched. They were waiting nearby for the school bus to come. Collins said the officers put Aguilar in handcuffs and took him across the rural road to their vehicles. At least seven officers had come onto the small farm, Collins said.

Adrian Smith, a spokesman for ICE, said he was looking into the situation and would comment when he knew more.

A lot of the Knights of the Golden Circle were recipients of a Classical education. Nathan Bedford Forrest, to put it mildly, was not. I owe to George Macdonald Fraser the realization that “Ku Klux” was Forrest’s corruption of κυκλοϛ-“Circle”, which the pre-war organization frequently used to describe themselves.

Or, more likely, if Trump is forced to leave office early then Pence will pardon Trump, citing Ford as an example.

Trump would take the pardon and claim it proves he’s not guilty, even though a pardon means forgiving a guilty person.

There could be enough illegalities attached to Trump via Cohen that Trump may have to leave office.

We’ll find out.

There is undoubtedly, by now undoubtedly, enough evidence of crimes to put some of Trump’s inner circle in prison.

But really, I can accept the notion that a southerner might fly a Confederate flag in memory of their heritage and family traditions, but a display like that in Michigan of all places is meant entirely as racist and intimidating.

Also, a nitpicking historical note: No Confederate Battle Flag ever flew above a State Capitol, they would have flown the Stars and Bars design, which was removed from the battlefield because it was too easily mistaken for a Union Stars and Stripes flag.

The chief Copperhead, Clement Vallandigham, died a most undignified death, accidentally shooting himself while trying to demonstrate how a man could accidentally shoot himself:

Vallandigham died in 1871 in Lebanon, Ohio, at the age of 50, after accidentally shooting himself in the abdomen with a pistol. He was representing a defendant, Thomas McGehan, in a murder case for killing a man in a barroom brawl in Hamilton, Ohio. Vallandigham attempted to prove the victim, Tom Myers, had in fact accidentally shot himself while drawing his pistol from a pocket while rising from a kneeling position. As Vallandigham conferred with fellow defense attorneys in his hotel room at the Lebanon House, today’s Golden Lamb Inn, he showed them how he would demonstrate this to the jury. Selecting a pistol he believed to be unloaded, he put it in his pocket and enacted the events as they might have happened, snagging the loaded gun on his clothing and unintentionally causing it to discharge into his belly. Although he was fatally wounded, Vallandigham’s demonstration proved his point, and the defendant, Thomas McGehan, was acquitted and released from custody (only to be shot to death four years later in his saloon). Surgeons probed for the pistol ball, thought to have lodged in the vicinity of Vallandigham’s bladder, but were unable to locate it, and Vallandigham died the next day of peritonitis.

Proposals for the future of the Irish border after Brexit were “annihilated” by EU officials, who said none of the options would work.

EU diplomatic sources told The Daily Telegraph that Brussels officials delivered a “detailed and forensic rebuttal”, and said “none of the UK customs options will work - none of them”.

The revelation came after Britain’s lead negotiator Olly Robbins met with senior EU officials, and has raised doubts about hopes for the future deal with Europe.

A UK Government spokesman said Britain is continuing an “intensive work programme to engage” all the scenarios set out in December’s Joint Report, which was agreed by Theresa May and European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker.

The old solution: both UK and RoI in the EU allowed for a seamless border which quenched some old animosity-driven fights over the border.

Bring back the border, now it’s back to Ireland as divided the hard way.

So General Michael Flynn’s life can be totally destroyed while Shadey James Comey can Leak and Lie and make lots of money from a third rate book (that should never have been written). Is that really the way life in America is supposed to work? I don’t think so!

Translated into English:

“So Michael Flynn is being to taken to task for violating the law and lying about it while a person whom I fired has disclosed factual but highly unflattering evidence based on notes that he took during his tenure in office as the head of the FBI.”

How many times has the rot been everywhere but the top?

Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the NYC metro area.

GOPers leaked the DOJ memos written about Comey within minutes of getting their grubby hands on them.

Why? Because they think it would somehow help the GOP?

Nunes is a fucking moron who continually leaks information that he thinks helps Trump, but only shows his rank incompetence and fact that he’s complicit and compromised as part of Trumpworld.

The memos again confirm what we’ve known all along. Flynn’s a liar and compromised. Trump was warned of this and ignored the intel community position on Flynn. Flynn was fired by Trump only after pressure (and after Flynn had been instrumental during the campaign and transition as one of the people vetting everyone else Trump wanted as part of his admin).

Nothing in those memos shows Comey wrongdoing.

It shows that Trump is again intent on obstructing justice and interefering with ongoing investigations with the barrage of tweets this morning.

He thinks that the GOP leaking the memos somehow proves his claims he’s not involved in collusion? He’s dumber than we give him credit for.

He’s absolutely clueless about supply/demand and the economy.

Wharton called. They want his paid-for degree back.

OPEC has signaled they want to keep oil above $70 a barrel. Saudis want to push it to $100.

Trump’s response? Drill baby drill. Let the US sap our resources despite the fact the US is producing more oil than any other point in our history. It’s not making much of a difference because the international oil prices are set in market trading.

OPEC is controlling prices by controlling supply.

The flip side is you can reduce demand and drive prices down. GOP doesn’t think to address that at all.

The flip side is you can reduce demand and drive prices down. GOP doesn’t think to address that at all.

The Great Recession of 2008 was accompanied by a significant downturn in mileage driven by Americans, i.e. reduced demand, at a time when additional liquids production were coming online from the extensive drilling of previously not-profitable-to-produce resources. This drilling being investments made because of the sharp rise in prices in the years before the Great Recession.

Now that we’ve recovered (well, in some ways) from said recession, mileage driven is up again. But the low prices for crude liquids post-recession means less investment in exploration/drilling.

Thus once again prices are rising.

US gasoline prices are really about American consumption and production. We don’t consume that much OPEC production, and what we used to consume of OPEC was often from Venezuela.

Well, here’s some exciting news for people who depend on their cellphones for nearly everything.

Law enforcement agencies spoof cell towers with devices called StingRays to intercept cellphone transmissions of “persons of interest.” In the process, they scoop up transmissions from anyone else nearby.

There are StingRays all over Washington, DC. Also military bases. And if you don’t have the $1,800 to buy one made in China, you can build one yourself for about $10 in parts.

Canonical (parent company of the Ubuntu distro) and AMD have not exactly made installing graphics cards easy in since Ubuntu 14.04. For my card, I have to use the semi-closed source AMDGPU-Pro drivers from AMD, and while they work well, I was having trouble with the cooling fans, as in, they weren’t spinning at all. I was cursing the drivers all yesterday, but I think it’s the card. If it overheats for any reason, it has to cool down to room temperature for the temp sensors to once again tell the fans to spin.

It seems now that I had to invoke the drivers’ power management at boot up for them to work properly in Ubuntu. Also, there are some command-line hacks to spin up the fans before trying any GPU-intensive tasks, like mining.

Meanwhile, all is not rosy with the Windows installation, because the used desktop I bought came with 32-bit Win7 (for a 64-bit CPU) and most mining apps expect a 64-bit OS.

There’s a town in Italy that did just that. Its wage-earning population had largely moved away, leaving many properties and businesses vacant. Towns reach a tipping point in which there are not enough young people around to make it interesting for other young people to stay.

We were fortunate enough to live in a village on the Rhine with only 180 souls, but many of them were young families who, like ourselves, had moved there to find an affordable place to raise their kids.

And we have large cities (Mainz/Wiesbaden) about 40 minutes away and Frankfurt less than an hour off.

Linux it still not an OS you’d want to put on granny’s computer, unless she happens to have a CS degree. I just expect problems whenever I go the Linux route. There are now specific Linux distros (which cost money) for mining installations, and remarkably they use previous versions of debian, Ubuntu and GPU drivers, because the kinks in those have long since been worked out. Most home users, though, use free Windows apps for mining now, because they usually work out of the box (so to speak).

Sure would be nice to have competent leadership. We have the opposite. But a couple facts I can not ignore.

1.)The gold/platinum jewelry wholesale/mfg biz has always been effectively locked out of China.

2.) At our trade shows there are Asia sections, frequently Chinese gold makers selling to our biggest buyers here. The big chains that are 1000+ stores, the department stores.

Access to roughly 10x more customers would be a boon. The size of their middle and upper economic classes make room for everyone. We have no opportunity to even try to compete. I think Chinese consumers might just welcome American goods, just as subject to ordinary impulses to own the pretty or cool thing as anywhere.

I want to talk to our trade guys, but under Trump? Hopeless.

I had read an article about that. Hopefully, not all the refugees will move on or it will take awhile. If there’s enough young people, it could conceivably take generations for the town to completely decline again..and if the town gets a reputation/culture of being open and accepting refugees and new immigrants, maybe it will always have new people to replace those who leave.

For some places in the US like Detroit, this wouldn’t be as much of an issue. One of Detroit’s big problems is that it was built to have 100s of thousands more people in it than it does now. An injection of 100s thousands of new people could rejuvenate the city and a population that large can set up to be self sustaining.

For some places in the US like Detroit, this wouldn’t be as much of an issue. One of Detroit’s big problems is that it was built to have 100s of thousands more people in it than it does now. An injection of 100s thousands of new people could rejuvenate the city and a population that large can set up to be self sustaining.

ditto for Gary, Indiana, whose population dipped from 150K in the 70’s to less than 95K today…

I was wondering. Does the Republican FreeDon caucus (The Entire GOP) have any more secret but damaging to the Mueller info that anyone can think of they might try to leak?

I know they have been very creative and there is always a good chance they will just create something from nothing. But, it seems they may have played one of their biggest cards and still came up way short.

I bet they are trying to worm their way into Mueller’s staff to find some wrenches they can throw, but that is probably not going to work as Mueller runs a tight ship.

I’d like to be in the Congress meetings with Nunes, Meadows and Jordan this morning just to hear if they think yesterdays “leak” accomplished anything.

You know what Detroit did, something I think is very cool, they built a community of tiny houses (600 sq ft with a reasonable patch of land) and are doing a kind of rent-to-own thing where if the people made x number of years of payments as rentals, it became a mortgage where they owned it. It was completely reasonable in terms of cost and an amazing ability to get people into a homeowner equity economic class that they might have been permanently excluded from previously.

Just pretend you’re completely corrupt, stupid (but think you’re brilliant) and you can generally figure out some potential next moves. I’m thinking beyond their general BS, that they’ll probably try to get materials directly from Mueller’s investigation, including things like the names of government witnesses and attempt to drag in Mueller and his team for questioning by Congress looking to find discrepancies in testimony to undermine the team and perhaps set up some perjury traps.

One cannot link the price of oil to a Presidency, that was attempted under Obama repeatedly, he was blamed every time prices rose.

So I will refrain from doing anything other than noting that increases in gasoline prices are going to impact people in rural areas more so than those in urban areas and let you draw your own conclusions about what that might mean…

And you shouldn’t, of course.

OPEC is a fucking Cartel. Cartel’s are semi-monopolies that exist for the sole purpose of keeping the value of a product artificially high.

Another Cartel is De Beers, which serves the same function in the trade of diamonds.

They distort free markets because that is their purpose. They are, by definition, out of any control so long as they are allowed to exist and cooperate internally.

This is not rocket science. This is Macroeconomics 101.

This is gonna shake some people up…

The Democratic National Committee is suing the Russian government, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks, alleging that the three entities conspired to help President Trump win the 2016 election.

The Washington Post reported Friday that the DNC filed the multi-million dollar lawsuit in federal district court in Manhattan.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC chairman Tom Perez said in a statement.

“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency.”

The DNC is seeking millions of dollars in damages related to the hacked DNC emails that WikiLeaks published during the campaign, according to the Post.

The lawsuit alleges that hacking and publishing the DNC emails was part of a larger conspiracy to damage Clinton’s campaign and help Trump win the election.

It is. It’s frustrating. I have a friend that clearly sees the problems of trigger happy cops but he doesn’t with civilians. Shrug. I really do get why people may want to protect themselves but we’ve fostered this paranoid society where people bring out guns on anyone for anything and people die because of it.

Not yawning, but not sure what they’re trying to accomplish by filing the suit now. Isn’t most of the proof required to win the suit already part of the Mueller investigation? What is the effect of tossing another set of cooks into that already-muddled broth?

It could be timing. Filing the suit now means it would go to court in the run-up to the mid-terms.

Having news reports about the Trump-Russia conspiracy trial on the news every day would be no small thing.

Just be polite, I’d say. Cultural norms aren’t too different between Czech Republic and Slovakia - other than Slovaks tend to be more religious in general (though not like the Poles) being polite is always good. Giving up your seat on a tram for an elderly or disabled person, etc. Making eye contact when you say ‘Na zdraví’ (cheers) in a bar. That sort of thing.

Gotcha. Yeah I’m going to Poland as well. Just common courtesy. I’m really excited about meeting my cousins. And man the Carpathians look beautiful.

But I think the political payoff has to be in the criminal investigation.

Actually my brother already did that lol. His wife is 1/4 Croatian. But my brother is also 1/4 Slovene so my niece is thus the Queen of the Catholic Balkans. Her grandmother’s parents being from the former Yugoslavia actually allowed me to explain how Hispanics can be any race to my grandmother. Just told her that instead of going to the US or Canada like many of ours did, they went to Peru.

You torpedoed your own experiment because you didn’t buy into the mystic realities and have The Belief. So it didn’t work for you, but that didn’t debunk anything for the person growing with The Belief.

You had a faulty scientific process there. I’m surprised you didn’t get a failing grade.

Coke is fun the first few times you do it. It can stay that way if you “bump” into it on rare occasions.

The moment you do it consecutively it just loses than first time feeling and you never get it again. But then you want that feeling and you try and try and do more and more and then you are in real trouble.

It is a nasty drug for those caught up in it.

I ran into some opium laced pot a couple years out of High School, early 70s. The friend who had it didn’t know it was laced. Five of us, two couples and the guy with the herb smoked two joints and then we were trashed.

My girlfriend sort of nodded off in my arms and went limp and all of us were like whoa at that point. The other girl with one of my buddies was experienced and said she would be fine, just lay her down for a bit.

My girlfriend came around after a couple minutes and we all said what the hell happened. We stopped everything and all headed home. That drive to my girlfriend’s parents house was one of the toughest drives I ever did. I felt totally disconnected and had an almost don’t care about the traffic lights, etc. feeling.

The next day the guy that had the herb tossed it out. That stuff was nasty. And it taught me I didn’t want a damn thing to do with opium based drugs of any kind.

Words have consequences.

The Okaloosa County GOP says it’s uninvited Roger Stone from its annual dinner next month after he made disparaging remarks about former first lady Barbara Bush, calling her a “nasty drunk” and other things.

“It’s tough to lose a speaker when you’re three weeks out, but this is what I felt needed to be done out of respect for Barbara Bush,” county REC Chairman Mark Franks said in a statement. “I thought he’d be entertaining but for me this went over the line.”

Stone disputed the events and said he backed out. “I cancelled my appearance as the sponsors wanted to censor my public comments, which is unacceptable,” he told the Northwest Florida Daily News.

I hope with all my heart that this son of a bitch pulls a long stretch in federal prison.

Based on the precedents from the Clinton years (President Clinton getting deposed while in office), the answer is that yeah, he’ll have to submit.

Moreover, as with the DNC lawsuit, the burden of proof is far lower in civil actions than in criminal ones. No need to prove the cases beyond a reasonable doubt.

Belafon  Apr 20, 2018 • 10:32:01am

Interesting thing about that lawsuit:

The lawsuit echoes a similar legal tactic that the Democratic Party used during the Watergate scandal. In 1972, the DNC filed suit against then-President Richard Nixon’s reelection committee seeking $1 million in damages for the break-in at Democratic headquarters in the Watergate building.

The suit was denounced at the time by Nixon’s attorney general, John Mitchell, who called it a case of “sheer demagoguery” by the DNC. But the civil action brought by the DNC’s then-chairman, Lawrence F. O’Brien, was ultimately successful, yielding a $750,000 settlement from the Nixon campaign that was reached on the day in 1974 that Nixon left office.

Disgraced former Alabama Senate candidate Pedophile Roy Moore sent out a fundraising appeal to his followers on Friday that bemoaned the fact that the Washington Post this week won a Pulitzer Prize for its reporting that exposed multiple allegations of him sexually molesting teenage girls.

“Instead of being held accountable in the court of law, the Washington Post just won the Pulitzer Prize for their slander and lies against me and my family,” wrote Moore, in a fundraising appeal posted on Twitter by Politico reporter Daniel Strauss. “Meanwhile, I’m being sued for standing up for myself and my family from ruthless lies and attacks… This is an OUTRAGE!”

I sort of figured there would be some counter action coming from McCabe’s law team.

I wonder if they too are working (under the table) with Stormy’s lawyer, the New York prosecutors and Mueller and all can share together what they find.

Trump is going to now find himself under attack from multiple directions and the squeeze is going to be tightening.

I bet his tweets are going to just get crazier and crazier. Hopefully he blows up and does something blatantly corrupt to make everyone realize he has to go. Now.
