I got QLed.

I’m home now.

The church is going with the “he repented, what’s the problem?” stance. The problem is Les Hughey didn’t apologize to the women, who, because they were underage and because he was their youth pastor, can be considered victims. So he’s going to be on a leave of absence, which, in my mind, is completely unacceptable.

They’re also not going to be especially happy about me talking to Fox 10 or to a reporter from the Arizona Republic. Also: I got video of nice white wealthy church people with expensive rides yelling at me.

She’s with the country’s elites. Something she probably mistakenly thought she was doing by getting involved with Trump.

I’ve seen some suggest that the smiling is poor form for a funeral but my Nana was the same age when Mrs. Bush died. There’s a photo of my first cousins and all our spouses and there’s some smiles. We mourned our loss for sure but we celebrated a life lived too which I imagine was done yesterday as well.

In some other tweet about this topic, someone replied with a picture of her smiling with Donald. I wanted to find the gif of her smiling when he was looking at her, and then frowned when he looked away.

NEW INFO about suspected shooter: Travis Reinking was arrested by Secret Service in July for being in restricted area of White House. AR-15 used today had been seized after that, but IL law enforcement returned it to his father who gave it back to Reinking. pic.twitter.com

Yeah, that is some fantastic control right there. Arrested with a gun near the White House and he ends up getting his gun back only to use it in a mass shooting.

No gun problems in America. We already have laws!

Everything’s fine, move along.

That’s just them looking for something to pick on. It’s perfectly normal to smile at funerals because you’re with living people.

In fact, I think I’ll to my funeral requirements a sign that says “If you don’t smile today, you can help pay for this.”

Yeah. Anyhow I remain not fond of Melania because of her bitherism but she’s one of the Trumps that bother me least and in her son’s case not at all.

It doesn’t say he had a gun near the White House. It says he was in a restricted area. The fact that the weapon returned by the Illinois LE clearly suggests it was seized in that state.

Thanks for the clarification.

But doesn’t that mean his gun was most likely confiscated because of his arrest for being in a restricted area near the White House?

It stands that someone arrested recently was still able to get a gun back that was used in a mass shooting. Still goes to lax background checks and laws.

And our politicians still will do nothing about any of it.

Maybe the young student-led drive will do something about it. Let us hope.

I think they have ways of making a more modern ribbon mike. I read some time back that there was some kind of a breakthrough on making classic mike designs for way less money. It had to do with using modern materials.

If you look around there are mics out there that have the range and dynamics of some great old mics for fractions of what they used to cost.

One thing about sound…there seems to be infinite ways to try to capture and record it and the technology is ever changing.

Making dinner tonight, had some MIL gifted fresh tomato sauce in the freezer to turned that into a meatless marinara. Leftover roast chicken will provide the meat to put on the pasta. When I got done with the chicken I had skin left so slowly cooked that down to bacon crisp. That, blue cheese on a cracker and a sip of red. That’s a nice surprise.

There are a few Easter Eggs. The real Dr. Smith, from whom Not Really Dr. Smith steals a jacket and thus a cardkey, was played by Bill Mumy. Also, Not Really Dr. Smith’s “real” name is Jessica Harris. Get it? J. Harris? Like Jonathan Harris?

OT - There are several sellers on Ebay whose main business seems to be taking apart old pocket watches and separately selling the case, the dial, the hands, and the movement.

A while back I bought a Hamilton case that would be appropriate for one of my watches that’s currently in a case with…issues. Then I thought better of it. So, I bought a dial, a movement, and a set of hands from one or the other of these sellers. In retrospect, this is almost certainly where I got the case, too.

I am loath to add up what I spent. Suffice to say that I spent rather more than I would have spent if I’d just straight out bought the same damn watch I’m putting together. AND I encouraged and supported a practice I disagree with.

I don’t care. It will be a very nice watch when I get it together.

I took a watch apart once as a kid. Generally I was good at taking things apart, seeing how they work, and putting them back together. This time, all I learned is to not take apart things that have long, thin, springs in them. Fortunately it was not a nice watch.

Hmmm, watch chop shops.

This particular watch - the Hamilton 992b - was made from 1940-1969. They started off with fired porcelain dials. Somewhere along the line, Hamilton switched to melamine dials. The first of those started falling apart after 50 or so years, so dials are at a premium. People will pay $80 for the dial alone, $130 for the movement, $35 for the hands, and $130 for a correct case in good condition (ask me how I know!).

Or $250 for the whole watch.

but I told him in no uncertain terms that I’m not going anywhere.

I think I’ll just remember Matthew 24:36 & keep my alarm set for the usual time and get my son to school on time.

And if that fantasy theology ever really happened while I’m alive, I’ll take the Bodhisattva route and stay here anyway.

More than 300 cases of hepatitis have been reported in Kentucky recently, with 214 confirmed cases in Louisville alone, according to recent numbers released by the Department of Public Health. Michigan, meanwhile, led the nation in hepatitis cases per capita in 2017 and has seen more than 500 reported cases already this year.

Indiana has confirmed 77 hepatitis cases since January, according to the ISDH release, with most coming in the southern portion of the state.

Arkansas Project

The Arkansas Project was a series of investigative press reports, funded primarily by conservative businessman Richard Mellon Scaife, that focused on criticism of then-President Bill Clinton and his administration. Scaife spent nearly $2 million on the project.

The investigations included the investigation of the 1970s’ real estate investment that Bill and Hillary Clinton had made in a development known as Whitewater, re-opening of allegations that then Governor Bill Clinton had sexually harassed an Arkansas state employee, and a reexamination of the death of White House aide Vincent Foster which multiple official investigations had found to be a suicide.

I was looking at my times on various segments of today’s ride on Strava, and even if I limit it to guys as old and fat as I am, I’m WAY down the list. I wonder if there’s any group old enough and fat enough for me to be in the top 100?

That also gives the gun deflectors their talking point: He was mentally ill, see it wasn’t the gun.

In my personal experience, no one who is currently a member of the NRA should be permitted anywhere near a gun. They all have fantasies of taking down the bad guys and no real concern for the deaths of innocents, who are just collateral damage in the preservation of their fanatic interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

And likely preventable. God Damn It. Fuck. Our priorities as a nation are fucking stupid, greedy and so shortsighted. We are not learning from our errors and idiotic mean spirited bullshit. WTF? The hate is metastatic, infecting so much of public policy and how people view each other.

I want to go live in a cave with puppies now. Sigh.

Can’t put that genie back in the bottle - she lost democrats with the original statement & lost the remaining trump supporters with the apology. When you don’t know what you are talking about - keep your mouth shut.

For a long time, I’ve been able to justify keeping an Atlantic subscription based on a few articles each issue that are still decent reading (and memories of when it was a much better magazine), but it’s not long for my patronage if it becomes a monthly connection of shitty hot takes. It’s not like I don’t have plenty of other interesting magazines to read that have stayed saner (Harper’s, New York, New Yorker… I used to include Vanity Fair in that list but it’s getting iffy under its new editorship. Easy to forget how one much influence one person, in this case the recently departed VF editor Graydon Carter, can still exert over a magazine. It got very generic very suddenly when he left.)

Based on what I’ve seen lately, my suggestion is that you drop Atlantic and subscribe to Teen Vogue.

I think women don’t get that when we men put together a plate of food, it contains exactly as much as we want of exactly what we want.

If our wife/girlfriend takes some of it, we no longer have as much as we want of what we want. And if she likes what we got more than what she got, that doesn’t mean she’s got a right to what we got.

A place up the street from here The Fat Dog, has a menu special. The “I’m not hungry girlfriend”. Extra fries or a small side dish. It also has a dog patio bar, where you sit your pooch for his snack and you do happy hour.

Conway is younger than me. She looks at least 15 years older than me. Lying is rough on a person. She looks absolutely awful… Like a corpse.

Imagine what Huckabee will look like in a few years?

She’s more than halfway to Dawn Davenport in John Waters “Female Trouble”!

re: #286 Belafon

“Hell, Clinton did it, and he couldn’t keep his dick in his pants cigars in their case. They shouldn’t make excuses for Trump.”

They have to make excuses for Trump’s incompetence because #44 is making him look real bad. Trump spent an inordinate amount of time criticizing PBO for every little thing he said and did and boasted constantly about how presidenting is sooo easy. What is happening with Trump is the same thing that happened with GWB in that excuses are being made for the sole purpose of covering for a president that everyone knows had no business being elected in the first place. I expect the excuses to continue and to proliferate because there’s no way that the MSM will ever admit it dropped the ball in 2016 when it came to informing voters about exactly who and what Trump is. There’s also the fact that his predecessor was a blah man who did a damn good job as president, and the U.S. is still a nation in which millions of citizens still think that there’s no way a blah president could be a better president than a white one.

It’d be tough to grow bud downwind from a hemp farm. Might want to keep hemp production in red states. Keep buds a west coast production.

Eastern Colorado is a hemp farming fucking dynamo, if they want it to be. Remember, eastern Colorado looks just like Nebraska and Kansas.
