This article plausibly explains that Giuliani’s behavior is calculated and not just crazy:

Here’s the Real Reason Giuliani and Trump Are Admitting to Paying Off Stormy Daniels

Key ‘graph:

So why are Giuliani and Trump positioning themselves for an FEC investigation and fine? Apart from diverting the news away from the Mueller investigation, Trump can tweet a big ‘so what,’ because, as it turns out, other campaigns—including Barack Obama’s 2008 effort—violated FEC rules and faced big six-figure fines.

It always comes down to whataboutism with these people.

freetoken  May 3, 2018 • 6:38:06pm

So, how does politics work in America? Here’s how:

WWE “gives” Trump’s “foundation” $5 or $6 million.

Then Trump puts Linda McMahon in a cabinet level position.

Then the real payoff:

Effective Tax Rate declined to 26% from 36% in the prior year quarter, primarily driven by the reduction of the federal corporate income tax rate as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (the “Tax Act”), which reduced the corporate rate from 35% to 21%, effective January 1, 2018.

Vince McMahon owns the vast majority of the voting as his special shares get 10 votes to the common shares of 1 vote.

This is the gilded age.

Unfortunately, it does seem pretty shrewd. Campaign finance law is a dull subject to your average person and whataboutism is the propagandist’s most effective technique. Then again, the Trumpian news cycle might render all of this moot anyway when there’s a new outrage to discuss.

The side of beef Trump nominated to head up the USDA is going home. One more down.

Sam Clovis, the former Trump campaign aide who had been serving as USDA’s liaison to the White House, is leaving the Agriculture Department and will return home to Iowa, a USDA official confirmed Thursday evening.

Clovis’ last day is Friday. A “goodbye party” was being held for him on Thursday night, according to a source attending the party.

The Scandal Tearing Apart America’s Largest Protestant Denomination
A denominational leader’s claim that abused women should remain in their broken marriages is forcing Southern Baptists to pick sides.

Paige Patterson is the 75-year-old president of Fort Worth’s Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, which claims to be one of the largest schools of its kind in the world. He is lionized among Baptists for his role in the “conservative resurgence,” which is what some call the movement to oust theological liberals beginning in the 1970s. But this week, his past legacy and present credibility were called into question when a 2000 audio recording surfaced in which Patterson said he has counseled physically abused women to avoid divorce and to focus instead on praying for their violent husbands, and to “be submissive in every way that you can.”

Quite a few SBC honchos have denounced Patterson, notably Thom Rainer, president of SBC’s Lifeway bookstore chain. Others though are remaining silent and some have openly defended him. The Executive Committee has made no move to force him out.
Patterson has made things worse with a series of brain-dead and tone-deaf responses. Worse yet, a video has surfaced of him playing Roy Moore by making sexually charged comments about a 16 year old girl during a sermon. (Warning, creepy old man alert) Man is she built …

This issue with Patterson came up a few years ago, on Denny Burk’s site (Burk is one of Albert Mohler’s minions) - see the comments in this link: dennyburk.com
in which Burk seems to imply that he disagrees with Patterson.

I don’t know if Mohler, perhaps one of the few people in the SBC leadership who is more of a religious-fundamentalist than Patterson - has made his own stand yet.

Used to be that they were all for Paige. Here is a 2007 article that supported Paige’s atavism:
