Watch Live: Trump Announces His Decision on Iran Nuclear Deal

Politics • Views: 34,972

YouTube

Here we go, folks. Trump might surprise the world and announce he’s going to keep the Iran nuclear deal intact, but it’s much more likely he’s going to trash it and throw the Middle East and the whole world into a deadly nuclear arms race for no other reason than his insane jealousy of Barack Obama.

This may be Trump’s most momentous action yet, and I do not have a good feeling about it.

UPDATE at 5/8/18 11:02:41 am by Charles Johnson

Yep. He’s going to trash it.

Then again, remember how Cheeto Benito’s pulling out of the Paris climate agreement simply made every other nation give the US the finger and stick to it all the more? Here’s hoping that little bit of history repeats.

Senior administration officials have begun informing congressional leaders that Pres. Trump plans to remove the U.S. from the Iran nuclear deal and reimpose economic sanctions,

can he re-impose sanctions by executive order?

I don’t think so. Word is that Russia, China, EU, and Iran are going to try and save it and wait out the shitgibbon. This seems to be Bolton and likely Giuliani’s doing, who has been in bed with the SEK for years. Plus shitgibbon has to fuck up anything Obama did.

Don’t think that Putin is a supergenius. He is a mob boss, trained in espionage, who is a short term thinker and poor judge of risk, who lucked out. Putting an unstable, corrupt idiot in charge of a country far more powerful than your own is the height of arrogant stupidity.

It ruins hard work by Presidents and diplomats of both parties over the past 50 years. Done by the most ignorant man we’ve ever elected President. I hate Trump because I love my country. I want my country to be admired, respected in the world and the Muscovite Candidate has done everything from day one to undermine that.

Very true. I would still like them to ask and hold him to the same standard as Democrats. Pushing him to answer and seeing him always fumble and lie is instructive and should be a story the press always covers.

I think that Chris Hayes is correct.

Israel and Saudi do have a strategic problem named “Iran”. And, while I am no expert in the domestic politics of either country, I suspect that probably the current leadership in both countries feel that they benefit from having an enemy. Nor is Iran an angel.

However, the US bumbling into a war with a country the size of Alaska; and with a population of 80 million; that is thousands of miles away from us; And doing so without any major allies; Is just fricking plain stupid.

Domestically, I assume the plan is to have a Bush 43 style war in order to boost the Republican chances at the elections.

Worked at the free meal at the church today. They had some sort of minestrone casserole that was really good, along with mixed greens, potatoes au grautin, blackeye peas, baked on site bread and a variety of similarly sourced cookies.

The inspiration may be well timed, since I came home to find that it’s time to stock up the old fallout shelter.

The next question is how many allies will cave in and kowtow before Trump, despite how unpopular they’ll be in their own countries, and how many will tell him to fuck off.

Arnold’s sticking point was the Revolutionary leaders’ breaking years of promises and climbing in bed with the hereditary enemy. Today’s Republicans are much more…flexible…that way.

Goddamn I get pissed when rightwing (almost always chickenhawk, natch!) idiots act as if the French don’t ‘do’ war - the horror of Verdun of course springs to mind.

Ask the German soldiers of 1916 what ‘pussies’ the French troops were! As I recall, Verdun holds the all-time record for sheer numbers of dead/wounded in a given space, over 650000 in less than 10 square km…yeah…real wimps those French.

Well, even leaving aside the latent Francophobia that tends to spring up in most English-speaking people a lot of times*, the more-recent French-bashers tend to focus exclusively on the dêbacle of 1940: which was a failure of tactics more than a failure of will - but then again, that’s just typical of the chickenhawks: the basic assumption that history is there to confirm their prejudices, inconvenient “facts” being there to be ignored….

* not entirely unwarranted, mind….
