Here’s the Full Document Dropped Today by Michael Avenatti With Damning New Evidence of Russian Collusion

So am I right assuming that every damned day is going to be like this from now on?

Today’s entry in the parade of sleazebags, abnormalities and villains known as the Trump administration is a stunning document dropped by adult film star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, with allegations and evidence that Trump’s fixer Michael Cohen received hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Russian oligarch with close ties to Vladimir Putin — after the election.

The Daily Beast has now confirmed this part of Avenatti’s document.

And here’s the document in full, to read at your leisure. Don’t indulge in too much leisure, though — you might miss a new development.

So THAT’S what they call it these days.

Cheeto could be caught buggering an American eagle in the middle of the Washington Mall and his base would praise him for his newfound concern for wildlife and national symbols.
Fortunately for civilization, Cheeto’s base is a relatively small fraction of the population. That doesn’t keep them from tuning themselves up for civil war, since they labor under the delusion that they have all the guns.

In the outdoor insane asylum of West Virginia, a lot of people got excited about Richard Ojeda for the 3rd District Congressional race. Here’s a sample. Local Democrats looked the guy over and decided they’d rather not have a guy who voted for Cheeto Jesus and are going with State Rep. Shirley Love, who is a man and appears to be somewhere over 85 years old. (He’s been married for 65 years, according to his website.)

Meanwhile, Joe Manchin is ahead of BernieBroesque Paula Jean Swearangin by just about 2-1.

I really think that’s a winning issue we could run on. Kind of like how the GOP took advantage of people wanting term limits in the 90’s.

Blankenship not doing too well in the early going.
Rather weak showing so far, tbh — 16% compared to Morrisey’s 46%

Last night at 4 PM PDT, the news dropped on Schneiderman. By 7 PM he was out. All the news last night was Schneiderman.

Today at 11-ish AM PDT, Trump announced we’d be violating the Iran nuke deal. The news was all about that for a couple hours. (Schneiderman? Who’s Schneiderman?)

Then at 2PM PDT, Michael Avennati drops the Cohen documents showing Russian oligarchs and Fortune 500 companies paying into the same slush fund that paid off Stormy Daniels (Iran? Who’s Iran?)

So. What’s next? What’s gonna drop at 6 PM that pushes the Cohen stuff below the fold?

These are very tiny returns, at least on the NYT site - less than 1% of the vote in. I wouldn’t draw any conclusions on this one yet.

Trump nixing the Iran deal sucks majorly and is going to have horrific long term consequences for America and the world at large, water wet, bears defecate in woods, Pope still Catholic.

I guess sometimes you have to draw your strength from the small victories. In this case that particular “small victory” is that today I finally managed to finish up the Grand Campaign (East) of Slitherine Studios Panzer Corps, which I’ve been playing (on and off, mostly off for the last two years) for 4 years!

Also I am aware of the irony dealing with the subject matter given the overall political situation, especially since is VE day, but like I said, lets not overanalyze.

So… yay!

The Facebook news feed finally got the Cohen payments story on its top list.

So I click on it …. and notice all the stories that are being fed to me are from sources that I might otherwise approve…

Facebook is filtering its news to me, probably because I’ve been dinging at groups/people who are Trumpers. Facebook has figured out my “political leanings” - on my profile page Facebook has determined that I am a “moderate” - so now my news sources are all the standard ones like ABC, CNN, etc. Facebook is not feeding me Fox News or any of the very numerous right-wing hate blogs that cover this these topics.

Not around here. I keep a stock of bacon grease in a ramekin way back in the refrig. When I sear beef, it happens in bacon fat. Olive oil for more delicate meats like fish. And I love the flavor of half butter half olive oil on pasta. I better start dinner. Pulled pork we seared and finished in a slow cooker pot.

My great-grandmother live to 104 on a prairie diet of meat and potatoes. My great uncle (one of her sons) was a soil scientist and he was very careful about what he ate; he lived to 102. Probably gives DeWine a slight advantage but I think it really depends on the electorate mood. We had a very close AG race between Creigh Deeds and Bob McDonnell. Four years later. They ran against each other for governor and unfortunately for Va, McDonnell won in a landslide. 2005 was a very Democratic year and 2009 was a Republican one.

In fact, I have less use for Kucinich than I do Sanders. I may not like Sanders but I haven’t seen him justify the Assad regime.

You would think people would be sick of such an established career politician.

Pushing 80 ain’t gonna help him any, either. Running a national campaign takes a certain amount of stamina that just simply isn’t there after a certain age. It’s bound to show, probably at an inopportune moment.

And there’s simply the novelty factor. Would John Anderson have had much appeal in 1984? Ross Perot in 1996?

107
HappyWarrior  May 8, 2018 • 5:58:37pm

Here’s the crux of why I think Bernie will struggle in 2020. He won’t have that new car feel to voters anymore. Voters know Bernie by now. Most of us have our opinions. Also, he’s getting older and older. With how Trump bullshited his physical, are voters really going to want a guy who will turn 80 his first year in office?!?! And most importantly more candidates means more scrutiny on his record. It was relatively easy for him to run against HRC as the scrappy underdog. It won’t be as easy when the field is wide open.

Someone who is not only compassionate but someone who knows how be an effective leader. No!

That was the race for Attorney General. A run for Governor should be a lot closer. Remember DeWine lost to Sherrod Brown for the senate reelection.

Brown will be a big help as will both DeWine fatigue and Blue Wave from especially northeastern Ohio and most likely Columbus and Toledo.

It seems to be forgotten that while Trump’s attack on Heidi Cruz was horrible, a super PAC aligned with Cruz did it first with a billboard campaign in the Utah Primary attacking Melania Trump with nude photos. Also them going after him for that lines up with their evangelical base. Obviously that dynamic got janky in that election as ignorance, racism and sexism makes certain folks forgive a lot.

I really think the Fundies showed their true colors this past election. As I’ve said, I don’t have much use for the RCC on a lot of issues and yes I know their record with things like child abuse is deplorable but I also appreciate that individually Catholics tend to be much more accepting of immigrants and outsiders than Evangelicals do. Perhaps because many of them including in my own family remember the immigrant experiences of their parents and grandparents in the case of my mom and grandma who still go to SAturday mass.

LOL. I read that to my wife, and she cocked one eyebrow and said “okaaaaaaay… .”

You realize cabbage cooked in bacon grease is a very popular eastern European dish (Polish, Slovak, etc.). And then there is Wilted Lettuce that uses heated bacon grease as a dressing. I believe that is attributed to Germans.

If you’re a Republican, you can have pallets of cash dropped off on your front doorstep, but so long as it doesn’t have a big banner saying “THIS IS A BRIBE!,” then it’s totally cool.

My family, too, when I was a child. Mom used the old term “oleo.” (Disclosure: DW has to use a dairy-free/gluten-free substitute, but things like bacon grease for cooking are a-ok.)

I still use the term oleo (as do most people around here). Growing up we also used oleo because destitute. As soon as I was in the Navy and buying my own groceries, out the window with oleo. I much prefer butter.

Side note on West Virginia - for all the noise around Blankenship, it’s worth noting that there were a lot more Democrats taking primary ballots today than Republicans. 92k Dem votes so far in what wasn’t a very hotly-contested primary, versus 77k GOP votes in a race getting national attention.

I know, I know, a lot of WV voters are still registered Dem out of long habit but vote GOP these days. But still.

As you all know, a long time ago in a teenagerhood far far away, I was an admirer of his but speaking on behalf of Assad, going along with a lot of Trumpism, and becoming the worst of Ron Paul and Trump but on the left, I’m glad he’s done. In fact, I have less use for Kucinich than I do Sanders. I may not like Sanders but I haven’t seen him justify the Assad regime.

en.wikipedia.org

Natural occurrence
Glutamate itself is ubiquitous in biological life. It is found naturally in all living cells, primarily in the bound form as a constituent of proteins. Only a fraction of the glutamate in foods is in its “free” form, and only free glutamate can enhance the flavor of foods. Part of the flavor-enhancing effect of tomatoes, fermented soy products, yeast extracts, certain sharp cheeses, and fermented or hydrolyzed protein products (such as soy sauce and fermented bean paste) is due to the presence of free glutamate ions.[4][5]

Yeah my mom’s uncle voted for him because of NAFTA I believe. Stockdale at least wasn’t Pence though.

Now you’ve done it! Jim Stockdale not only wasn’t Pence, he was head and shoulders above most of the political riffraff of both his time and today. When the media made him into a joke, that was a turning point for me. He was a POW for 7-1/2 years, led the prisoner resistance in the Hanoi Hilton.

Tortured routinely and denied medical attention for the severely damaged leg he suffered during capture, Stockdale created and enforced a code of conduct for all prisoners which governed torture, secret communications, and behavior. In the summer of 1969, he was locked in leg irons in a bath stall and routinely tortured and beaten. When told by his captors that he was to be paraded in public, Stockdale slit his scalp with a razor to purposely disfigure himself so that his captors could not use him as propaganda. When they covered his head with a hat, he beat himself with a stool until his face was swollen beyond recognition. When Stockdale was discovered with information that could implicate his friends’ “black activities”, he slit his wrists so they could not torture him into confession

But because he couldn’t hear the debate questions (because they had fucked up his ears in the prison) it was all a big laugh riot.

I had read his and his wife’s book “In Love and War” well before Perot picked him, and I thought he was such an incredible person, it just made me sick to have him laughed at.

OK—stepping off my soapbox for now.

But how about that John McCain? Did you know he was a POW!!??

Uno. Against himself.

I’d say Connect Four, but there seem to be a whole lot more than 4 connections.

re: #233 Brian J.

OR candidates are not doing well in contested races. They sent Sue Spicer out to challenge Congressman Andre Carson in Indianapolis, and Spicer has lost 88 to 8 percent (!). Of four Cleveland-area State House candidates they endorsed, one is winning, one trails narrowly, and the other two are at 10% or less. Their one WV Senate candidate is losing as well.

To quote Bridgegate Bridget, “Is it wrong that I’m smiling?” And again, Nina’s from Cleveland, so you’d think she’d have more influence with the home crowd. But…
