Trump’s tweets include grammatical errors. And some are done by aides on purpose, who relish the scoldings from elites and believe debates over presidential typos fortify the belief within his base that he has the common touch

You’re making your boss - as the leader of the country - look like an illiterate ignoramus to the rest of the world

you go right on and relish the scoldings. That’s productive

I sent the the Puna Lava stream from my computer to my TV to watch it on the big screen. It’s even more impressive on 55” screen. On my honeymoon we camped in a Kīpuka that was an old Hawaiian village on the coast at the bottom of the Chain of Craters Road, near where the lava was entering into the sea back in 1991 (1992?, fuck I better remember the correct answer before my wife asks). I think it had to rate as the coolest campground ever and we had it to ourselves. The campground was buried under lava some years later. It was field of lava at least 20 feet deep and extended 600 feet further south into the ocean when we took our girls to Hawaii in 2002.

GOP lawmaker, intel officials will meet to discuss FBI source

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly plans to convene a meeting between top law enforcement and intelligence officials and GOP congressional leaders to “review highly classified and other information” the lawmakers have requested about the FBI’s use of a confidential source to aid an investigation of the Trump campaign, a White House spokeswoman said Monday.

President Donald Trump met for about an hour Monday with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats. The meeting came a day after the Justice Department asked its inspector general to investigate Trump’s claim that his campaign may have been infiltrated by the FBI source for political purposes, and amid continued demands from GOP lawmakers that the department produce materials on the person.

farther down the article:

Trump personally called for the Monday meeting, two people familiar with the request said, and Sanders said it was put on the books last week.

Not to pick on you or anyone but did you read the article? While it’s called bowl food it’s basically canapes on a plate so they can walk around and mingle since this is not a sit down affair. The plate has an edge, likely to catch the food from falling off, so now it’s a bowl.

People in Asia have been eating out of bowls for at least the last 5,000 years, whether it be noodles or rice. This whole “bowl food” nonsense is yet another example of the gentrification of poor-people food.

Poke is simply deconstructed sushi. Bibim bowls, etc. are just food. Why is this generating some type of old-man yelling to get off his lawn. Food has always gone through cycles of taking peasant food and turning it into restaurant fare. We did French, Italian, all of Europe, now foodies are moving east.

Bah.

Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the NYC metro area. Fleet week will be getting underway tomorrow, which is a welcome diversion from the nonstop shitshow emenating from the WH these days.

Of course, the media will continue spewing nonsense trying to prop up this corrupt, incompetent, and criminal administration.

It includes things big and small. For instance, that the tweets that have typos and grammatical errors are done on purpose.

Bulkshit.

This WH has been grossly incompetent from day one. They can’t be bothered with details like getting names and places correct. They’re not going to do the hard work of proofing tweets for spelling, grammar, and syntax.

Meanwhile, other media outlets are busy trying to normalize the failed foreign policy and trade policy trying to ascribe strategy where none exists except for what Trump thinks he can profit from personally.

If there’s a 180, it’s because someone reminded Trump that he stands to profit in some way personally.

He doesn’t care about American national security or foreign policy. He’ll throw our allies under the bus at first opportunity if he thinks he can make a buck - and he’s already done this by giving Russia and China and North Korea leverage and concessions they never should have had in the first place. Our allies are trying to hunker down waiting out Trump - all while trying to play the game to butter him up because they know that Trump’s ego and vanity needs stroking.

The thing with chicken was that the initial investment wasn’t all that expensive but it takes time to grow from a chick to a hen, you need to keep your upcoming hen pullets to replace your older hens so all you had in a year was a couple of young roosters as friers and the oldest hens to make stew or soup from as they aged out and no longer laid enough eggs. Eggs were the reason for chickens until modern refrigeration made factory poultry farms possible and that “chicken in every pot” could be literally true. Meat was a side effect in the old days and a Sunday afternoon picnic with fried chicken was a special treat indeed!

At one time, lobster was seen as throwaway detritus and was used to feed prison population. Then, it became a luxury item.

There were indentured (of people going to New England) servant contracts that limited the amount of lobster they could be served to, e.g., once a week. The farmers ploughed lobster into the fields as fertilizer.

I sat down this morning with breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausage and home made diced potato & toast :) and tried to read the flyer that idiot “Independent” candidate for congress dropped off.

Seems his big fantasy is direct participatory democracy. Sort of like the Swiss model though he doesn’t bring it up - wise because it would be insanely unwieldy in a nation of ~400,000,000 people. He seems to think this will somehow give “power” back to the “people” from the “rich” and prevent Citizen’s United from corrupting the country. Never mind that the propaganda machine would still be there and never mind that such a proposal even at, say, the township or village levels, would require a far more educated and involved population than has ever existed in American history. I doubt we’d get even half the participation that we currently have because of the time, knowledge and interest required to participate in such a system. Combine that with 1) propaganda machines like Fox and 2) flat out vote buying by the highest bidders and you’ll end up with a mess even worse than our current represntative democracy.

What a dork.

CAMILLUS, N.Y. - A couple in New York is seeking help from the law to get their 30-year-old son out of the house.

Christina and Mark Rotondo say they’ve been trying to get their 30-year-old son, Michael Rotondo, to leave their home for several months.

In fact, they say they have even given him several written notices to leave the property.

According to WSTM, the couple gave Michael a note on Feb. 2, telling him to leave the home within 14 days. Two weeks later, he received another note that said he was “hereby evicted” and that he had until March 15 to move.

In March, they gave him another note that said they “have seen no indication that you are preparing to leave.”

After the notes failed to inspire action, the couple filed court documents to have the case heard by the Supreme Court of New York State. The filings state that the couple has been told they cannot evict Michael since he is a family member, and he will have to be removed through an ejectment proceeding.

No need to spend money…just send the kids to the local Evangelical big church and they can lay hands on the trouble youth and all will be fixed. Cast the desire to go shoot up a school right out.

All answers to America’s problem are solvable in our Big Evangelical Churches!

How often have we been told they can take care of poverty, rebuilding, etc. All out of their kindness as Christians…so long as you are the proper color, join the church and give money themselves once they are on their feet again because of Awesome JeeSus!

Also, the NRA really isn’t all that large an organization for the power they have been able to scare politicians into believing they have. They really only have about 5 million paid members. They only represent around 10 percent of gun owners.

All that surprised me when I got to looking into their numbers earlier this year.

They are all intimidation and money to pay off politicians. Bullies with bucks.

America needs to put them in place and not be scared of them.

The father of the Texas teen who killed 10 people at his school said his son was a “good boy” — and blamed the massacre on bullying that he said the 17-year-old had experienced, according to a report.

Dimitrios Pagourtzis was “mistreated at school,” his dad, Antonios Pagourtzis, told the Wall Street Journal. “I believe that’s what was behind” the shooting at Santa Fe High School.

I know we’re prone to downers here, and it’s not always easy to be upbeat, but think of this: The only way Republicans are holding on right now is money and information warfare help from the Russians, gerrymandering, voter suppression and intimidation, and voter apathy. The problem with gerrymandering and voter suppression is that it only really works with voter apathy. And I think we’re seeing that non-existent for now. We undo those things, with the demographic changes in the country, we can fix a lot of things and make some things better than before.

And where did he get this idea that guns were a solution to bullying? My kids have been bullied, and in no case were guns ever in the thought plan. They came to me, and I helped them take care of it, which did include realizing the power my kids have (two of them are black belts) and how to stand up to a bully (it also included me notifying the teachers about what was going on).

Regarding Trump’s face, I’ve seen quite a few mentions of acitinic keratosis, defined (per Wiki) as:

Actinic keratosis (AK) is a pre-cancerous[2] patch of thick, scaly, or crusty skin.[3][4] These growths are more common in fair-skinned people and those who are frequently in the sun.[5] They usually form when skin gets damaged by ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or indoor tanning beds. AKs are considered potentially pre-cancerous; left untreated, they may turn into a type of cancer called squamous cell skin cancer.

Earlier this morning, the gas company mechanic came by our home to inspect the natural gas system. It gets a clean bill of health. Glad they could get around to that since the tornado that hit us was on May 10.

An hour later, our home insurance adjuster came back to inspect the interior damage to our bedroom. The plaster damage they will not pay for (it is considered an “abandoned ceiling” as it is covered by a suspended ceiling), though they will pay to remove the remaining plaster which is in danger of falling.

The insurance company will pay for the complete removal and replacement of our roof on both our house and shed, complete repainting of the north and west sides of the house (we had softball-sized hail which destroyed our new paint job), and 50% of the cost of our window air conditioner (also destroyed by the hail).

The surprising thing is our car was not damaged by the hail that scoured the paint off our house. Smart cars are tough.

The moral of the story here seems to be trust in God but make your insurance payments. /s

If you want a good laugh, go look at the pictures of the BBQ event in response to that woman who called the police and cried about how blacks were getting to cook: dailykos.com. They turned her picture into t-shirts.

I see that the resulting discussion has evolved into a discussion of ribs and BBQ.

Commenting on a Yahoo News article, I was told by some wingnut “you write like you’re gay.”

I’m not aware what “gay” writing is on the Internet unless it’s correctly spelled words and proper grammar.

I have been told by many people my handwriting “looks like a girl’s writing,” but that’s different. (My wife says my handwriting looks like her great-grandparents’ writing though, so take your pick.)

Or, they would be, if the “summit” looked likely to happen: if it flops, they’ll just go back to buying the line that it’s all Little Rocket Man’s fault, and Trump’s original plan of blustering threats (in stark contrast to Clinton, Bush and Obama policy, natch) was/is the best policy after all…

TBH I just wish the right wingers would be honest. They don’t care about MLK or what he believed in.

Arizona resisted recognizing Martin Luther King, Jr. Day for many years after it was adopted.

For years conservatives considered him a communist agitator who was just trying to stir up the ni*CLANGs. Barry Goldwater, Edger Hover, and William F. Buckley all demonised him.

Then they figured out Rev. Dr. King was popular, so they did what comes natural to a conservative: They lied about their previous position and claimed he was a Republican and gun-lover.

Dr. King carried a gun because of conservatives, not because he wanted to.

Oh noes…not Jim Jordan for Speaker!!!

I know I hate the Republicans, but if one thing needs to be done for this country’s politics it would be the elimination of anyone associated with The Freedom Caucus. They are the extreme crazies that are causing a lot of issues. They need to be trounced in any upcoming election.

This seems unlikely to happen. Even if the Republicans have he gavel taken from them in the next election, it’s likely that the crazies will become an ever more powerful part of the Republican Party.

To put it bluntly, he shows Kim Jong Un more respect than he does domestic critics.

Kim Jong executes people with artillery.

If it weren’t for a dozen people constantly showing him the “BAD GUY” chart, Trump would be sweating Kim for a bromance like he did Duterte.
