Welp, you may notice we now have a little popup thingy in the bottom right of the window, telling you about our cookies and privacy policy. This is to comply with the new EU regulations, so they don’t try to fine me 40 billion euros for not telling European visitors we use cookies; not totally finished with the compliance code yet, it’s stupidly complex to get through the spec, but this is a start.

Beat your fiancee into unconsciousness? Slap on the wrist.

Run a dog-fighting ring? Get a contract right out of prison and play for 6 more years before you retire and get hired by Fox Sports as a commentator.

But kneel during the Anthem? “BEGONE, HERETIC!!!”

That’s exactly what Nate Boyer told Kaepernick when the two talked about it. That kneeling is a sign of respect. I totally trust a Green Beret like Boyer over someone like Trump who has never served a day in his life.

Apparently, NK never even bothered to send advance people to Singapore. And they weren’t answering their phones.

And with all this going on, the Trump WH STILL issued that stupid coin with KJU shown as equal in stature to the President of the United States. And there were those great pics with the US Secretary of State. And the praise from Trump.

They never really needed the actual summit. All they needed was the President of the United States to agree to it. But they got even more - they got him to pursue it so desperately that they could jerk him around.

Yesterday, Roger Goodell proudly unveiled the NFL’s new policy regarding players and the national anthem. A lot of people hated it and President Donald Trump loved it, but the league made sure to note that the policy passed with a “unanimous” vote by the owners. That’s what mattered, that the obscenely rich guys approved. Now ESPN’s Seth Wickersham reports that there was never a formal owners’ vote—as there usually is—and the NFL just did a little informal polling and thought everyone would be cool with it.

From the report:

Sources said league executives polled owners and knew how they would vote but didn’t hold an official tally, which is atypical for a major resolution.

Already, three team owners have taken the opportunity to distance themselves from this policy. Niners owner Jed York said he abstained, and Wickersham reports that Raiders owner Mark Davis did too. Jets chairman Chris Johnson said he’d pay for any fines if players wanted to demonstrate during the pregame anthem.

So the League makes a big song and dance about how they made the rule change due to owners holding a unanimous vote.

Turns out instead that there was no vote, the League effectively acted out of fear that Trump would be angry if they didn’t ban protests.

So a rule change that nobody was happy about to begin with is now turning out to have been something that the brass pushed on the teams out of fear of a petulant prick in the White House.

Pack it in, Goodell, you’re fucked.

It’s okay when Tebow does it, not sure why no one complains then…

Which brings me to another gripe with the NFL. They were fine with the Tebow religiousity (yeah, fans gave him hell, but the league didn’t) but they went after a Muslim player until they got called on it and reversed their call; and they’ve gone after cheerleaders like Kristan Ware:

But what drove her to quit a year ago, she says, was the treatment she received from team leaders, whom she alleges badgered her about her virginity and forbade her from expressing her Christian faith…”My coaches sat down and said, ‘Let’s talk about your virginity,’” Ware says, “and I thought, ‘That isn’t right.’

…Ware filed a complaint with the Florida Commission on Human Relations against the NFL and Miami Dolphins alleging that she was discriminated against because of her religion and gender. Ware claims that she was treated differently than football players who kneel in prayer after a big play, openly pray together and talk about their faith.

NFL delenda est.

I’m done with the NFL. They have long only cared about how much money the owners can make off players who are left cripped and localities who pay through the nose for the privilege of hosting a team for all of 8 regular season games a year.

I’m done with the NFL over CTE.

I’m done with the NFL over their awful HR policies like those that you describe.

I’m done with the NFL over their misguided nonsensical treatment of players expressing their disapproval of gross miscarriage of justice and racial discrimination.
