Trump’s Sycophantic Advisers Continue Lashing Out at Justin Trudeau

Politics • Views: 30,704

Trump’s sycophantic advisers are now joining him in lashing out at Justin Trudeau, in a sickening display of pure gaslighting.

White House National Trade Council Director Peter Navarro said on “Fox News Sunday” there is a “special place in hell” for any leader who engages in “bad faith diplomacy” with President Donald Trump.

Navarro was responding to host Chris Wallace’s question about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s comments in a Saturday press conference after the two leaders met at this weekend’s G7 Summit, which he described as a “stab in the back on the way out the door” that came after Trump left Canada for Singapore.

When Wallace pressed if the “strong words” Navarro had for Trudeau came from Trump, Navarro said “those are my words, but they are the sentiment that were on Air Force One.”

It’s not just Navarro, either. Trump’s economic adviser, former (?) cocaine addict Larry Kudlow, also parroted the line that Trudeau “stabbed him in the back,” and explicitly said Trump’s little show of pique is intended to impress Kim Jong-Un.

Mr. Trump “is not going to let a Canadian prime minister push him around,” Mr. Kudlow said, adding, “He is not going to permit any show of weakness on a trip to negotiate with North Korea.”

Here are the statements all these clowns are referring to; in the real world, Trudeau made some very even-handed, fair remarks about Trump’s ill-advised tariffs.

Thiel hates democracy. He hates the whole idea of governments. Actually, Pence would not be worse, despite his despotic religious tendencies.

To impeach Trump would require a majority of the House and Senate. It is unlikely such a majority would support Pence’s moves toward theocracy.

As for Ryan, if Trump and Pence were removed, you’d have the same result. Ryan’s libertarian Dumpster fire would get nowhere.

If there was any impeachment at all, the survivors would be politically damaged. They know it. Gerald Ford and the GOP in 1974 redux.

nyt opinion

The alliance between the United States and Western Europe has accomplished great things. …

President Trump is trying to destroy that alliance.

Is that how he thinks about it? Who knows. It’s impossible to get inside his head and divine his strategic goals, if he even has long-term goals. But put it this way: If a president of the United States were to sketch out a secret, detailed plan to break up the Atlantic alliance, that plan would bear a striking resemblance to Trump’s behavior.

he is somewhat like a spree/mass shooter who doesn’t care what happens as long as he gains immortality even if it’s infamous

You know something? Fuck Trump supporters. Fuck them so much. Fuck their whining about how we “elites” called them names. I’m usually a live and let live kind of guy which is exactly why I have no patience for these fuckers. They’re the ones who wanted the government to tell consenting adults who they could marry. They’re the ones obsessed with this idea that transgendered people are using bathrooms to sexually assault their kids. They’re the ones even though many of them don’t live among many immigrants and PoC are obsessed with this paranoia about how America’s on the decline. They voted for Donald Trump for President. Yes, they may not have liked Hillary but you knwo what, so the fuck what, Hillary unlike Trump actually worked for her accomplishments. Hillary actually knew policy. But hey cry some more about how we look down on you while you embraced a man who shits in a gold toilet, you fake tough assholes who hide behind guns and crosses.

Paige Peterson is exactly why so many people my age want nothing to do with religion. Evangelicals are constantly complaining about why there’s more atheists and agnostics now, well maybe if you didn’t use your religion to legitimitize abuse. Maybe if you didn’t use it to legitimize bigotry. And yes you believing homosexuality is a sin is bigoted especially if you use that belief to advocate for not allowing gay people to marry, adopt, or to be able to buy the same consumer goods that no one would ever discriminate against you even though you’re just as full of sin.

re: #70 Anymouse 🌹

Actually, Pence would not be worse, despite his despotic religious tendencies.

To impeach Trump would require a majority of the House and Senate. It is unlikely such a majority would support Pence’s moves toward theocracy.

As for Ryan, if Trump and Pence were removed, you’d have the same result. Ryan’s libertarian Dumpster fire would get nowhere.

If there was any impeachment at all, the survivors would be politically damaged. They know it. Gerald Ford and the GOP in 1974 redux.

Also, Mr. Speaker Ryan forgot one minor detail in his little civics lesson: assuming (God hope it so) Trump gets the boot, and Pence becomes President, the 25th Amendment provides instructs that the new President *shall* nominate a Vice President: to be confirmed by majorities of the House and Senate. So unless President Pence nominates the ZEGS for Veep, his potential path to the WH will still have a roadblock.

Interesting point, though: the 25A says the President “shall nominate”
the VP, but doesn’t specify a timeframe. Both Nixon and Ford sent in their VP noms to Congress pretty much right away: Ford was confirmed in just 55 days: Rocky’s took 4 months.

Trump’s G7 tantrum really fucked the US negotiators with North Korea because it’s clear now how desperate Trump is for anything he can call a “win.” Meanwhile Kim can rightfully point at both Trump’s tearing up the Iran deal and retroactively retracting his endorsement of the G7 statement out of spite as reasons that he can’t be trusted. Kim is going to demand the total removal of all US troops from the Korean Peninsula as a prerequisite for denuclearization and Trump is going to be very tempted to take that offer because he’s furious at South Korea for not giving in to his mob protection racket demands.

Currently there is only a Charge D’Affaires heading the embassy but Trump sent Admiral Harris, the Ambassador to Australia, to Seoul.

The whole thing is weird because that announcement was back in April and Harris hasn’t officially been confirmed as Ambassador yet because he was on active duty until May 30th. Speculation is the Pentagon didn’t relish the idea of an Ambassador to South Korea holding four star rank, because of how it might complicate the military chain of command on the Korean Peninsula.

Stabbed in the back exactly described America’s erstwhile allies. Putin will be very pleased with the outcome, the denigration of the G7 from Trump’s late arrival to his early departure and this description of his attendance as a favour to the world in spite of more important diplomacy in Singapore, and the suggestion by Trump that Russia should have attended. I think Vladimir Putin has a tape of prostitutes pissing on Donald Trump, or something, and possibly even dreamt up The Apprentice. I half think that last part. I do think he is a corrupt traitor, and when he invariably distracts by attacking others on grounds that would utterly condemn him if they were properly applied, Putin springs to mind again.

Folks here are working awfully hard to flip seats in the midterms right now. There’s a really good chance that Don Bacon (R-NE2) will be ousted, and a fair chance Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE1) will join him in the unemployment line. [pining for a representative like Eric Swalwell instead of mine …]

I get that conservatives and liberals are going to approach things differently in legislation. That’s the nature of the political beast.

But people like Flake, Collins, Murkowski, McCain aren’t acting like “principled conservatives” from where I sit. They’re acting like doormats. “Gotta vote for Trump’s positions because he’s on our team.”

One of the toughest things a politician has to do, whether it is a senator or a village board member, is sometimes vote for (or against) things the voters hate (or love), because voting for or against that thing is what’s good for the city, district, or nation.

That’s why we have a representative democracy in the first place.

On the left it seems as if there are so many purity ponies that if candidate Jones doesn’t check every box they won’t support him or her.

On the right, they are perfectly happy to settle for a candidate who they only agree with 60% of the time. (The TeaNihilist caucus notwithstanding.)

Calling out the hypocrisy of Evangelicals over voting for Trump for example is futile. “Yeah, but he’s -our- hypocrite!”

This particular piece of derp was run to ground a few years ago: the office that issued SSNs in the 1960s did so based on the zip codes on handwritten application forms. Apparently whoever wrote Obama’s Honolulu zip code, 968-something, did so sloppily and the office misread it as a Connecticut zip, 068-something, issuing an SSN from the block that was designated for CT residents.

Funny how the same people who claim “government can’t do anything right” also can’t accept an Occam’s-razor-compliant explanation that involves sloppy government work.

Kim would be right - trump can’t be trusted. Doesn’t matter what is demanded it will be forgotten once trump is back on AF1. He is very brave after the event.

I read through the explanation (which explains why I have a Mass. number and not a Mich. number).

It’s amazing how something that seems so simple (a nine-digit number) is actually quite complicated to implement.
