a 501c3 cannot give out more money than it “takes in”
where did that magic extra $400,000 come from?
borrowed from a bank? nah - it has to be paid back (ok well trump…)
if he and his family did in fact put it in then it’s part of the total “taking in”
in fact related party contributions have to be reported separately

and we know that no trump would contribute to a non profit and not take a personal tax deduction for it, so….

Yesterday I wrote about the potential for a political headache for Republicans in the Secretary of State race if Will Gardner, who dropped out of the race earlier this year amid scandal but couldn’t by law be removed from the primary ballot, didn’t decline the nomination he won by running unopposed.

Last night a NDGOP official told me that Gardner had submitted his letter. This morning I obtained a copy of that letter from the Secretary of State’s office.

“I hereby inform you that I intend to decline the Republican nomination for Secretary of State,” Gardner writes in the letter which was dated yesterday. “I understand this will void my nomination by the Republican Party pending the canvassing results of the June 12, 2018, Primary Election.”

Gardner also references the portion of the North Dakota Century Code which allows him to do this.

He gets away with it because most people react to aggression by backing off. When he’s challenged, he loses, like in the lawsuits about him paying for services. The president has been assumed to be occupied by someone who will act like a gentleman, and so he’s gotten away with stuff because he’s still playing the bully.

Crimea is a bit of a case unto itself.

Historically, it was part of Russia, it was simply “given” to the Ukrainian SSR by Nikita Khruschev for administrative purposes in the 1950’s because it was isolated by land from the rest of the Russian SSR.

Something that mattered very little back then, it was all one big happy Soviet family.

Russia does have a certain claim to it, but that does not mean that the way they went about asserting that claim (militarily occupying it and then holding a “referendum” on it
was proper and in line with international law.

The immigration courts are one of those areas of administrative law that I really don’t like. I’m honestly ok with most administrative agencies having quasi-judicial proceedings. Tomorrow I’m going to the doctor.

My question: I’m getting calamine lotion. Can you slather it in with your hands or do you have to dab it on with a cotton ball!

As I am at two with nature, my immediate thought says no. But, I did go to Mackinaw City Michigan about 4 days before this started. So, while I don’t think I personally came in contact with anything like a plant, I might have come in contact with something that someone touched or something like that.

I googled pics of all three (ivy, oak, sumac) and it looks different.

I’m at a loss. No different foods, or anything I can think of, that would crate this.

I have broken out in a rash that’s spreading every day. It started about a week and a half ago with a couple of hives on my thigh.

I started taking 2 Benadryl at night. Nothing. Still itches and spread.

After a week, it was on the one leg from thigh to ankle.

I went to the walk in clinic. Got prescription strength zertec and cream. Nothing. That was 2 days ago.

Now it’s spread to my elbows.

Tomorrow I’m going to the doctor.

My question: I’m getting calamine lotion. Can you slather it in with your hands or do you have to dab it on with a cotton ball!

I need help!!!!

If it is Poisin Ivy/Oak/Sumac I wouldn’t touch it directly. Use the cotton ball as an applicator and then be sure to toss it away in something like a sandwich bag so no one else gets in contact with any oils that might be seeping.

It almost sounds a bit like Sumac. A brother had a big outbreak of it when he was clearing out “brush” from the back of his property he had just purchased. It seemed to spread on it’s own and he broke out just about everywhere over a day or so. The worst was it seemed to hit him where ever he sweat. You can just imagine.

And like all allergies, there are degrees to how hit hits any one individual.

On second thought, reading through this DACA bill, particularly since it has Stephen “Dead Eyes” Miller’s fingerprints all over it, it’s pretty obvious this is totally just an election-year stunt to help butch up those “moderates” who need to show they’re “strong” on immigration. This bit in particular:

A trigger mechanism that would withhold permanent residency for DACA recipients in any year that Congress denies funding for the border wall — a system designed to ensure wall funding even if the next president is opposed to it.

Makes this bill an absolute farce, holding Dreamers hostage to the whims of a fanatical regime who demands a monument to their ignorance and ego. And reminder that the GOP just voted to cut billions from CHIP last week in the name of “fiscal conservatism,” only to earmark $16.6 BILLION to this fucking abomination.

And how smart was all that ultimately?

How did many of them end up?

Not much more I can say. And I do understand all of the comments. I guess I don’t make my point.

I tend to look at the results of an action as to how smart that action was.

Myself, I think that in the (otherwise-)happy circumstance of a Dem-controlled 116th Congress, the BIG (can we say YUUUUGE!) problem is going to be coming from another of the Branches. If you can find the clothes you wore that day - wash them!
Hot Hot showers can provide temporary relief from the scratching. Do not burn your skin but use the hottest water you can tolerate on the affected areas.
Scratching does not spread this kind of rash but could lead to infection. Poison Oak, Ivy & Sumac have an oil in them that causes your body to have a crazy response.

IIWU, I’d hie off to a dermatologist ASAP: if it is an externally-spread reaction (i.e. like sumac, as others have suggested- which it seems to be) there won;t be lot you can do about it, but at least you may get something stronger to alleviate the itch. Kidding. But you may need something stronger than Benadryl to stop it.

Reminds me of the time Al Jarreau did a concert in Cancun, and on a day off I went swimming in the ocean, wearing a T-shirt, then sat on the beach hanging out for a couple of hours, still wearing that T-shirt.

Unbeknownst to me, it was the season of something endearingly known as “sea lice” — basically, a massive amount of poisonous jellyfish eggs that wash up near shore, and are nearly impossible to see in the water because they’re tiny and transparent. So I already got poisoned in the water, but then made it MUCH worse by sitting in that T-shirt still in contact with the sea lice caught in it.

The next day I saw a couple of red patches on my side, but didn’t think much of it. Got all the way back to LA before it really kicked in, and then I suddenly broke out over most of my body in the worst rash ever. I had no idea what caused it, and neither did doctors. It was actually scary because it went on for a couple of weeks!

My doctor eventually prescribed some steroid shots (which I hated doing) and those were strong enough to knock it back - but within a couple of days after the shots, it came roaring back again, just as bad.

The basic ideas have not changed. The latest study just summarized data exhaustively.

Given business as usual among humans, by the end of the century the total sea rise since the 19th century will be between a foot and half to 2.5 feet.

Then, because we continue to warm the surface of the planet, the ice melt will continue, accelerate at times (not at others), until some new sort of quasi-stable ice sheet is achieved.

Most long term predictions is that the ice will continue to melt throughout the centuries to come.

Business as usual will get us to around 4C warmer world than the 19th century. This will melt most of the polar ice, other than the mountain glaciers in Antarctica and Greenland.

Reminds me of the time Al Jarreau did a concert in Cancun, and on a day off I went swimming in the ocean, wearing a T-shirt, then sat on the beach hanging out for a couple of hours, still wearing that T-shirt.

Unbeknownst to me, it was the season of something endearingly known as “sea lice” — basically, a massive amount of poisonous jellyfish eggs that wash up near shore, and are nearly impossible to see in the water because they’re tiny and transparent. So I already got poisoned in the water, but then made it MUCH worse by sitting in that T-shirt still in contact with the sea lice caught in it.

The next day I saw a couple of red patches on my side, but didn’t think much of it. Got all the way back to LA before it really kicked in, and then I suddenly broke out over most of my body in the worst rash ever. I had no idea what caused it, and neither did doctors. It was actually scary because it went on for a couple of weeks!

My doctor eventually prescribed some steroid shots (which I hated doing) and those were strong enough to knock it back - but within a couple of days after the shots, it came roaring back again, just as bad.

I finally discovered the probable cause on the Internet. One of the first times I actually found something useful on that brand-new network. Ended up having to basically just wait it out, because I didn’t want to do any more steroids.

I got swimmers itch from swimming in Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin when I was 17. This is similar but calamine lotion fixed it. I’m all slathered up and still a little itchy.

If the government does “grind to a halt” in the next Congress, it’s unlikely to be the doing of Democrats: in Congress, anyway: Minority Leaders Pelosi in the House and Schumer in the Senate have done a fairly good job of keeping their caucuses in line: its hard to imagine either of them letting legislating get too out of hand (though Republican obstructionism, especially in the Senate, is likely to get dialed up to MAX - but a disciplined party bloc can mitigate that somewhat: AND: unlike this election, in 2020, I think a boatload of GOPers are up for reelection).
Myself, I think that in the (otherwise-)happy circumstance of a Dem-controlled 116th Congress, the BIG (can we say YUUUUGE!) problem is going to be coming from another of the Branches. Trump is incompetent to be barely able to govern as it is, with a cooperative Congress: how well [SPOILER: not at all] is he going to deal with a coherent Opposition?

We need a Dem congress to

1) stop Trump from passing any new atrocities masquerading as laws; and
2) to hold the gavel on Oversight Committee, Intelligence Committee, etc.

I had a horrible rash years ago — all over my hands and spreading to my elbows. (Certainly an allergic reaction, went away after exposure ended, took a couple of weeks, never mind.) What stopped the itching for hours at a time was soaking my hands in very hot, very salty water. For about five to ten minutes, with breaks to air-cool my hands (that’s how hot the water had to be).

Actually, of course, McCarthy was wrong then and he is still wrong today. He was not interested in, or even alleging, subversion by actual foreign agents and he never came close to exposing such. His shtick was a conspiracy theory alleging a widespread cover-up of communist influence in various branches of government. In that respect, it resembles the current “deep state” CT more than it does any of the allegations made against the Trump campaign and various agents of influence.
