Donald Trump Calls Out His Cultish Followers to Attack Rep. Maxine Waters

Politics • Views: 38,522

Last weekend, Rep. Maxine Waters encouraged her supporters to continue making Trump officials uncomfortable in public. Here are her exact statements:

“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere. We’ve got to get the children connected to their parents,” Waters said at the Wilshire Federal Building, according to video of the event.

“We don’t know what damage has been done to these children. All that we know is they’re in cages. They’re in prisons. They’re in jails. I don’t care what they call it, that’s where they are and Mr. President, we will see you every day, every hour of the day, everywhere that we are to let you know you cannot get away with this,” she added.

You may agree or disagree with this approach, but it’s pretty clear she’s not advocating violence. She’s talking about constitutionally protected free speech, to protest against people who are perpetrating a massive violation of human rights.

But this morning, our so-called president lied again about Rep. Waters, and made a pretty explicit threat that his followers will certainly pick up on.

Trump absolutely does not deserve the benefit of the doubt for this statement.

Waters didn’t “call for harm” to anyone. But Trump knows exactly how his cultish followers react when he calls them out like this; he did it over and over during his campaign rallies, encouraging them to physically attack protesters and even telling them he’d pay their legal bills if they were arrested for assault.

So here we are in June 2018, with the president of the US openly inciting violence against a sitting member of Congress.

And that’s not the only incitement he tweeted today.

Again, he knows exactly what his followers will do when he eggs them on like this — and they’re doing it. All over the web, Trump cultists are posting attacks on the owner of this restaurant, even inventing twisted Pizzagate-style conspiracy theories.

But don’t tell the Beltway media — they’re busy writing editorials and columns lecturing liberals on civility.

I have a story about that. I was sitting my Con Law exam in 1987 and had written nearly an entire blue book about the rights available to a person with a student visa. But I forgot about due process. I felt like I sat there for five minutes trying to figure out what to do. I finally decided to write a “But Due Process under the 5th and 14th Amendments, blah, blah blah” to save my bacon. It was so stressful I still have nightmares 30+ years later.

“… The Trump administration’s approach to combating illegal immigration appears to draw heavily on the counterinsurgency strategy employed in Iraq at the height of the war. Internment camps played a crucial role in establishing security in Baghdad and other major population centers during the troop surge years. However, the tactic of mass incarceration ultimately backfired in Iraq. It was at Cropper and its sister prison facility Camp Bucca where ISIS was born. And while there seems to be little risk of a radical insurgency springing from the tent cities being erected in the Rio Grande Valley, one thing is for sure: The existence of these camps will not make our country any safer. …”

You have a point, actually two, BUT:

1. What is happening with the child separation/Red Hen matter is: They did X so we complain about X.

2. Yes, Trump loves to be hated. He does seem to be calling for an all-out (mostly political) war with his opponents (for instance, me, Babe, to quote Van the Man). He has given us no choice: Bring. It. On.

Trump’s popularity numbers are fairly stable but his negatives are going through through roof. Last I heard, 42% favored impeachment. That’s huge. We should not back down and we do not need to. He picked this fight and to save our own souls we need to win it.

I don’t think Nancy had to say anything. With this kinda timing it looks awkward at best and she could still project the respectable, above-it-all politics that some folks think new D voters will need. I don’t think that’s as big an influencer to get folks off their butt or flip soft R’s as people think but I know plenty disagree with that.

But she said it, people will react and Maxine still needs extra security.
Not gonna lose my shit over it but my eyes did roll.

It’s funny when you think about how and when the media finally give certain folks coverage. So many times it’s only in service to lazy media narratives.

We were in law school at the same time. I still occasionally have dreams about being late for an exam!

1. What is happening with the child separation/Red Hen matter is: They did X so we complain about X.

There is a difference between the ends you are trying to accomplish and the means by which it is accomplished. The tut-tutters are complaining about means, not ends.

If Cracker Barrel was refusing service to Richard Cordray because they didn’t like his stance on consumer protection, a) we’d think it was pretty stupid on a policy level, and b) we would also think there was something outrageous about refusing him a meal because they didn’t like his policies.

I’m just saying we shouldn’t confuse (a) for (b), or vice-versa.

I think one of the requirements to become a journalist ought to be a reaction test: Throw streams of information at the person, and see if they can 1) filter through it to the important thing, 2) react to an attempted change by coming back to the topic, and 3) be able to change from the topic they want to talk about if something more important comes along.

I would fail my own test, but I know I wouldn’t be a good journalist.

The brother of one of my Dad’s friends died last week and so I spent yesterday helping my Dad’s friend and his daughter clean out their dead brother / uncle’s place. It was surreal, I’ve never seen such a disconnect between a man’s wealth and how he chose to live. The guy apparently had investments worth over a million dollars but he’d been living for over thirty years in this cheap one bedroom rathole apartment in Hawthorne that didn’t even have air conditioning. The place was a fucking disaster and it was pretty clear that he’d been clinically depressed for a very long time. It was so goddamned sad.

My main contribution was just confirming to the daughter of my Dad’s friend that she and her Dad didn’t owe the landlord jack shit by way of cleaning the place up. “They’ve been profiting off your uncle for decades, so fuck them” was my position. They were only in town for four days and didn’t call us down for help until the last day so the whole thing was going to be a shit show no matter what and it was time to recognize the futility in the situation. So we just did one final check for anything of potential value, put some of the more egregious piles of trash into bags to make it look a little less horrid and took them out for some very good Mexican food.

They were PISSED OFF.

It was a relief.

And that’s where I am. I am truly furious. And I don’t feel like being magnanimous. I want all of these people, every one, to know they are..not…wanted. Bourdain is famous for being able to see gray areas in other people and make nice. After famously lampooning Emeril Lagasse, the two became—if not friends—at least friendly. At one point during the New Yorker interview, Bourdain brought up Henry Kissinger, saying, “I’m a big believer in moral gray areas, but when it comes to that guy, in my view he should not be able to eat at a restaurant in New York.”

When the interviewer replied that Bourdain has a history of condemning people and then eating lunch with them, Bourdain exclaimed, “Emeril didn’t bomb Cambodia!”

It hasn’t been a crisis in years.

Border crossings are at multidecade lows.

But Trump’s turned it into one and has created yet more crises by shifting resources away from deporting actual felons and criminals while separating families and trying to deport people who are seeking asylum.

The Trump admin wants to run roughshod over the rule of law, and the feckless media in the WH press corps are enablers as well - because they know or damned well should know that the law protects people claiming asylum, that Trump’s policies are violative of the existing law, and that trying to deport people without due process is a huge Constitutional no-no.

Not that right wing white nationalists care about such things.

They think that they would not face deportation. That’s only for the “other”. Right up until the other turns out to be folks who the powers that be think you don’t measure up - you’re not sufficiently wealthy or healthy or what have you.

Thing is that even at the time, MLK realized that half the reason his movement could be as effective as it was is that he was able to present himself as a bulwark compared to the radical, violent movements, which he not only didn’t reject categorically, but sympathized with (“A riot is the language of the unheard”). He recognized that in part, he could present himself as a choice to moderate white America (which he had strong words for to begin with) and say ‘either you can deal with us…or you can deal with what’s out on the street. Make your choice’. And he was still treated as a psycho radical instigator stirring up violence as is.

Non-violent resistance is good when you can appeal to shame and basic humanity and make a firm juxtaposition with resolute non-violence. We’ve seen how far that can go these days with the NFL anthem bullshit…

While the first premise is valid, aren’t most of the Euro-Mexicans so white-privileged there that they don’t find themselves as desperate to work in the US? Though you’re right, I can definitely see the MAGAts ‘not being aware’ of that and using it as an excuse to deport dissidents. Which is why we have to win this November so that we stay the opposition or even the government and not dissidents.

Which means Democrats and Trump opponents as a whole need to decide where their line is for civil disobedience…

Events like the Sanders ejection lead to reactions like the Waters one. And the Waters reaction could logically lead to a complete rewriting of the rules of political engagement — if not to political violence.

Of course, the media did this shit all through 2016: Democrats need to produce detailed plans that will solve all problems conclusively, while Republicans get points just for not shitting their pants. Hillary was criticized for proposals that didn’t solve everything, while Trump was able to run on empty slogans because “He’s saying what the voters want to hear!”

In 1492, the Spanish monarchs decreed that all of the Jews in Spain would have to convert to Catholicism or leave the country. Five years later, the king of Portugal also issued an edict forcing the Jews in the country to convert.

I think Spencer got “quiet” after Charlottesville.

Whether it’s MLK, Ghandi, or Mandela, the long term path to success lies on a path that is steadfast, firm, unshakeable, implacable, impassioned … but never forgets the core humanity in (almost) everyone.

It’s not that I don’t sometimes fantasize about smacking these people upside the head and throwing them in the Rio Grande, hog tied and floating out to sea … and it’s not that some of them don’t deserve it … but, to flip the quote around, deserve’s got nothing to do with it.

One could extend the idea of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” where he laments the greatest obstacle to African-American equality is those who support “order” over “justice.”

Almost no advance of equality and equal treatment under the law has been obtained by voters supporting it, until there was civil disobedience first.

Many of the actions of the Civil Rights Movement were illegal. So were those of suffragettes, and the LGBT movements.

Unfortunately, even if the US did officially adopt this protocol (Senate ratification or whatever), it has never been beyond the capacity of US Administrations to find one way or another to “work around” inconvenient human-rights issues, treaties notwithstanding, if they want to. If by ‘ultimately won,’ you mean ‘despite having died in the process’, OK. Mandela (your example) only spent 27 years in jail. It didn’t kill him. Other people continued his work on the outside.

And the phase ’ people killed by their own’ bothers me. Can’t put my figure on why. I know that some were killed by other than the expected opposition, but ‘their own’?

“Killed by their own” is, perhaps, an inartless phrase. You are probably hearing echoes of the gun thumpers and the white supremacists who like to talk about “black on black” crime, which is not what I meant to invoke.

I was simply talking about how, for example, Malcolm X was killed by NoI members in the fallout from his repudiation of that organization. He wasn’t killed for advocating for equality. Gandhi was not killed for arguing for and achieving independence, but because his own right wing nationalist movement did not want Indian Muslims to be equal and welcome. Those same nationalists would have argued for independence from the UK.

I’m not arguing against civil disobedience, struggle, anger, or protest. I am arguing against the kind of demonization that leads to the “burn it all down” mentality on the left that brought us Trump.

You forget one thing. Most countries implement articles IV and VII of the CPPCG, meaning they do not recognize any immunity for the crime, nor consider it a political crime. If motivated enough, they might either simply arrest a sitting US president if he or she enters the country, or even go to the length to forcibly extract him. And as I recall, there are a couple of other crimes against humanity where jurisdiction is universal and/or no immunity applies.

On the issue of government officials, at last Saturday’s town burger cookout, I had several people bawl me out publicly (until a horrendous hailstorm shut the cookout down early). Every single person knows me. Being bawled out in public for a political position or a letter to the newspaper is a regular occurrence even for local government officials.

I listen, I give feedback (why I disagree or why I might reconsider my position), &c. I don’t go onto social media complaining “I was bawled out!! My fee fees!!”

goddamnedfrank  Jun 25, 2018 • 3:38:52pm

re: #112 goddamnedfrank

So I’m going through the guy’s meds now, emptying them all into a bag because I volunteered to make sure they got disposed of properly at the safe police drop off, and it’s full bottle after full bottle of unused Trazadone and other depression / anxiety medications. Some of these bottles expired several years ago. He definitely had major depressive disorder and was getting his meds filled but just wasn’t taking them. Same thing starting last year with drugs for congestive heart failure, several full bottles. I think he was telling his doctors he was taking his meds but in reality he just gave up a long time ago.

This poor man’s death certificate is probably going to blame COPD (there were O2 bottles and an O2 concentrator in the apartment, his family said he’d recently been diagnosed with emphysema) and coronary disease but I’m pretty sure the untreated depression played a major role in his premature demise.

And let me be clear here—I’m not concern trolling or suggesting that I don’t want them prosecuted. I’m just trying to figure out how to inflict as much pain on them as possible. Trump being poor and marginalized, even if on the streets, would be so delicious.

I pissed off some folks on FB for saying that Trump voters are horrible people, but honestly, I’m really, REALLY sick of being nice.

He isn’t a mystery, and he wasn’t a mystery before the election. If you voted for him, you knew you were voting for a racist, a misogynist, an Islamophobe, and a proudly ignorant liar. Every horrible thing he has done was something he PROMISED to do. In fact, the only thing that’s kept him from doing even more horrible things than he has is the remaining institutions of government, and he’s gnawing away at those.

People try to excuse others voting for him by saying ‘they wanted change’ or ‘they’re frustrated with Washington’ or ‘they were voting against Hillary’. If their political views are such that they believe a racist, misogynist, Islamophobic, bloviating ignoramus is BETTER THAN Clinton, I’m not sure how that makes them any better than someone who just plain wants a racist, misogynist, Islamophobic, bloviating ignoramus for President.

Add to that the fact that he has 90% approval among Republicans, not despite the horrible things he’s done, but rather because of them, and I’m not sure how you can say that his supporters are NOT horrible people.

I think it’s a big element of white privilege that we can have relatives and friends who like having a racist, misogynist, Islamophobic, bloviating ignoramus for President, and still consider them ‘good people’, because really, it’s not our ox that’s getting gored.

Your account, danja84 has been suspended for violating the Twitter Rules.

Specifically, for:

Violating our rules against hateful conduct.
You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.

Personally I’m not stressing over it. It’s not like I had thousands of followers. It was just an account I had to be an abrasive asshole to those who deserved it. I had a mere 129 followers so it’s not a big issue.

Now if my Facebook account was permanently disabled, then I would be really upset and horrified about. I’ve had FB since 2005 so I have more at stake on that then a Twitter account I used to keep up with politics and be an asshole to Trump supporters, Nazis, Salafis, and Islamophobes.

Post on Facebook about how those of us who were crying when Trump won were pretty much right about everything. Took about 3 comments in for Bernie Bro to say, “You should have cried when Hillary stole the nomination from Bernie.” This bullshit refrain makes me want to scream.

In my opinion, yes, the far left shoulders some of the blame for trumpland.

Fuck Bernie seriously. It’s not HRC’s fault, he has Republican like appeal to PoC.

re: #301 Blind Frog Belly White

Let me challenge that assertion. The Bernie Bros were definitely involved in bringing us Trump by their refusal to vote for her and by their general demonization of her.

OK, but that was caused by a main-stream left attempt at being civil. Too civil, to a non-Democrat. Let us not err on that side (civility) again.

But, that smarmy, cocky attitude of “hah, you sure showed ‘em” that the Republicans had on display was a symptom of how far off the rails they had been going since about 1994. Or, really, 1964.

We have three pharmacies within sixty miles. One Walgreens and two locally-owned ones. We only use the Walgreens pharmacy for non-drug items (but no more until the corporation fires the guy in Arizona for violating both HIPPA and their own policies). One of the two locally-owned ones wears their religious views on their sleeves like a phylactery (something I believe the guy in the New Testament objected to) and won’t sell anything at all related to sex. All of our business goes to the other locally-owned pharmacy.

Looks like I need to get out the boycott letter-writing pen for Walgreens and let them know why we will no longer shop there.

If for some reason our remaining pharmacy goes Cristofacist or wingnut, we’ll have to go to another state (Wyoming or Colorado) to fill prescriptions.

I debated whether to post this or not. The first site given to me as a source was World Nut Daily, so I passed. This source is *slightly* better (Christian Post).

Basically, Ivanka Trump gave Jack Graham’s Prestonwood Baptist Church $50,000 last week to help with the immigration crisis. Graham is one of her father’s evangelical advisors:

Graham said that this week he and evangelical advisers will be doing a video conference call with officials who are on the ground in Brownsville to determine what needs there are for the immigrant children and families, and how churches should respond, before members travel there.

He said they’re hoping to plan some kind of event to be held in the first week of July for the children. In addition to Prestonwood leaders, a group of other evangelical leaders who are part of the Trump faith advisory initiative will join Graham in visiting detention centers near the border with Mexico.

christianpost.com

Those kids don’t need any help from Trump’s court evangelicals. Not a bit. However, one thing may come out of this—we may get to actually see pictures of the children snatched away by Trump’s policies, as they’re used as backgrounds for photo operations.

Too bad that gives us Pence who will enact exactly the same policies without Trump’s flare and acrimonious style. At least the Mercers have a sense of humor about their horror show:

Robert Mercer, the New York hedge-fund magnate whose huge donations to pro-Trump groups in 2016 have been credited with putting Donald Trump in the White House, has kept a low profile since the election. But his daughter Rebekah, who runs the family’s foundation, now has a way to relive the thrill of the campaign with friends around her dinner table. In March, on a ski vacation at a rented house near Vail, Colorado, she brought a batch of copies of the “Rules of Play” for an elaborate parlor game called the Machine Learning President. Essentially, it is a race to the Oval Office in three fifteen-minute rounds. It’s a role-playing game, more like Assassin than like Monopoly, although players of this game do start out with an allotment of “cash” to spend on pushing their agendas, which can include “algorithmic policing” and “mass deportation.”

“Tonight, the name of the game is power,” reads the first page of the “Rules of Play.” Each player, it goes on, “will assume a new political identity.” Instead of becoming Colonel Mustard or Mrs. Peacock, as in the board game Clue, each player takes on the role of a political candidate or a “faction,” in the game’s parlance. Among the possible roles are Mike Pence, Elizabeth Warren, Black Lives Matter, Russia, Y Combinator, Tom Steyer, Wall Street, Evangelicals, the Koch Network, and Robert Mercer himself. (Through a lawyer, Rebekah Mercer acknowledged possessing the game’s “Rules of Play” but denied any role in the creation of the game or that the game reflects her family’s views.)

Rebekah Mercer, the second of Mercer’s three daughters, worked for her father’s hedge fund, Renaissance Technologies, before quitting to homeschool her children. Unlike her reclusive father, who once told a colleague that he prefers the company of cats to that of people, Rebekah likes to socialize. She is said to have brought Kellyanne Conway and Steve Bannon into the Trump campaign, and she is a guiding force at the annual costume ball hosted by her family at its Long Island estate. (For the 2016 party, which President-elect Trump attended, the theme was “Villains and Heroes.”)

The goal of each player in the Machine Learning President is to win the Presidential election, over three rounds of play, designated as Super Tuesday, the Primary, and the General Election. Each candidate or faction starts with a “Briefing Dossier,” which “outlines your starting Cash, Influence, and Tech capabilities.”

……

In the section of game instructions that lists the possible identities that players can assume, Tom Steyer, the liberal hedge-fund billionaire who is financing a campaign to impeach Trump, is described as seeking “Minimum Wage Increase,” “Universal Basic Income,” and “Full path to citizenship (for undocumented immigrants).” The Rules include a description of Mercer’s father’s “character.” “Robert Mercer,” the instructions say, “sits atop one of the most powerful geo-political networks on the planet,” which is “driven by a next-generation technology stack with a business model.” They go on to note that “the Mercer Family is both a rival and an ally of the Kochs,” and claim that although the Mercers lack the “scale of business” of the Kochs, whose private company is the second largest in America, they compensate for it “with a constellation of over a dozen data analytics, machine learning, and electioneering companies around the world.” They continue, “The Mercers are building a global far-right movement to embed Judeo-Christian values” while “keeping government small, ineffective and out of the way.”

The player who assumes the persona of Robert Mercer starts the game with six hundred million dollars in “cash” to implement his “policy wishlist,” which includes “Mass Deportation of Undocumented Immigrants,” the creation of a “biometrics/Citizens ID,” the use of “Predictive/Algorithmic Policing,” and “Freedom of Religious Discrimination (healthcare, hiring).” In other words, the stakes are higher than buying Boardwalk or sinking your opponent’s battleship. There is no mention of a Get Out of Jail Free card. ♦

This ought to go over well in The Philippines:

Philippines’ President Duterte: “who is this stupid God?” (Goes to Aliteia, a Catholic news site based in France)

Philippines, [sic] President Rodrigo Duterte has once again drawn criticism for his remarks seen as confrontational towards the Catholic Church. In a speech on Friday, he questioned the Creation story and the doctrine of original sin in the Bible, saying, “Who is this stupid God?”

His remarks elicited criticism from Catholic leaders and some of his own allies, according to a CBS News report.

Bishop Arturo Bastes called Duterte said, “”Duterte’s tirade against God and the Bible reveals again that he is a psychological freak, a psychopath, an abnormal mind who should have not been elected as president of our civilized and Christian nation,” according to the report.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson, a former national police chief and supporter of Duterte’s policies, criticized the president for speaking against God “to whom I pray every single day and with whom I’ve found solace and comfort in all my difficult times, I don’t even have to think of my choice.”

“May my God forgive him and make him atone for all his sins,” Lacson said.

Not that there’s an actual standard of “civility” being applied. Once again, bad faith rule applies: the words don’t mean anything, the only axiom is the inherent correctness of their side.

All of the MSNBC shows have their own web sites with videos. They are all uniform in layout pretty much. Often the popular evening shows get their videos up just after the show, sometimes while the show is still going on. They are usually segments and you can see when they were in the show by the time marked on the bottom by the date.

You don’t need YouTube. Also, if you want you can embed the videos here.

re: #526 austin_blue

Since he is the poster boy for a one-off megalomaniac, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that it won’ happen again. The smoking wreckage of the coming Trade War fallout will ensure that.

Sorry, there’s no way this is true.

Another dictator elected to rule America is far more likely than not. When Trump finally leaves office, it is highly likely that the US media and both parties will want to ‘put this all behind us’. There will be no blame, no recriminations, and the people who enabled all this horror, who actively engineered it, will continue on with their wealth and power. The angry cult that voted for it will remain in thrall and become angrier. Just like after the failures of the Bush years, cultists doubled down and got worse, so too the next American dictator won’t even bother attempting to hide crimes, but will brag about them openly like Duterte does, knowing that there are no consequences for doing so.

That’s the consistent message of both-siderism, of white privilege, of voter restrictions, stolen Supreme Court seats, and gerrymandering. That message is: there are no consequences. Commit crimes? No consequences. Insult the military? No consequences. Deliver openly racist rants? No consequences. Kidnap children, enslave blacks, spit on the Constitution, incite violence, and generally be a cruel, narcissistic cunt? No consequences. There are never any consequences as long as you pay homage to white supremacy and privilege, and all the institutions of the United States will ensure that you never face any consequences.

A trade war and economic pain may hurt, but I don’t think it will ruin enough people to count as a consequence. It certainly won’t hurt the people who never face any consequences. And without consequences, another Trump is guaranteed. Except this one will probably be worse, because he probably won’t be as stupid.

Unless it’s Don Jr. Because he’s at least as stupid.

Rachel mentioning that Mattis had no idea that Trump was going to cancel the South Korean joint military exercises. They learned after he announced it after his meeting with Kim. Trump didn’t tell anyone he was going to give that up in the negotiation…but may have gotten the idea and prompt from Vlad.

Trump is so totally out of control. Dangerously. But Mitch and Paulie will remain silent.

It’s experiments in creating a system in which there’s a small elect group that are effectively libertines, an insulating layer of rubes, and a vast farm of people to be preyed on, too desperate to resist.

A level of power beyond Marxist categories. Beyond aristocracy. Think that sounds crazy? Consider the mix of contenders: religious nuts who believe they directly hear God, libertarians fucking about with immortality. They’re not operating in human terms at all.

The continuing theme, found in the Religious Right; the nationalists and racists; the libertarians; the con men; it applies even to the conspiracy types, who have world of heroes, villains, and sheep.: people don’t really matter except as means.

So, my House district runoff made Rachel’s show tonight—and I can tell you that the quote from Robert Williams that he didn’t know about the crap that Rhinesmith has posted is a GIGANTIC LIE. I know this for a fact, because I know people who spoke to Williams about it weeks ago. He is full o’shit.

And the DCCC saying they knew nothing about it is bogus as well, because it has all over the place.

Short explanation, if you didn’t watch—the leading Dem in our runoff tomorrow has a raging right-wing campaign manager who has been blowing bad notes on Dems for years. He (the candidate) led in the primary, but didn’t clear 50%.

Oh, South Carolina, you never disappoint me.

Standing before U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson in a downtown courtroom, Anthony Scott Lloyd admitted the charge. The 45-year-old San Pedro man is scheduled to be sentenced in July, when he will face up to 10 years in prison. He is likely to receive a far lighter punishment, however.

In pleading guilty, Lloyd acknowledged calling Waters’ Washington office on Oct. 22 and leaving a voicemail in which he repeatedly threatened to kill the Los Angeles congresswoman, called her by a racial slur and made a homophobic remark.

Lloyd told authorities he made the call after becoming angered while listening to a report on talk radio that criticized Waters, a Democrat, for making critical comments about Trump, an arrest affidavit showed.

“Bitch, if you do it again, you’re dead,” Lloyd said in the call, according to court records…”

Definitely 5th columnist. The candidate is also running for his current seat in the SC House—he only showed up for 2 events around here during the whole primary season and his campaign would never return phone calls about anything.

I’m not sure what their game is—frankly, I don’t think any Dem is going to beat the incumbent Republican (which is why I’m devoting my time, effort and money to Joe Cunningham’s campaign in the 1st district and to the governor’s race.) But it is weird.

Here’s the article about the Rachel segment.

As I said—we’ve known about these posts for months, and one of my friends confronted Williams about Rhinesmith several weeks ago—Williams said, “Oh, I thought he was a Democrat.” Yeah, right.

I appreciate her fervor (and hope she wins) but this whole mess hasn’t got a thing to do with progressive anything. It’s total rat-fucking (very similar to the 2010 campaign of Ben Frasier (DON’T get me started!)

In 2010, James Clyburn accused Frasier and South Carolina U.S Senate candidate Alvin Greene of being Republican plants.[23] The group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that primary-winner Frasier, Greene, and two other candidates in the June 8, 2010 Democratic primary in South Carolina (Gregory Brown and Brian Doyle) violated the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) and FEC regulations by failing to file mandatory disclosure reports prior to the 2010 South Carolina primary election.[24]
