Lyrics

many tried to tell us
that the first would be the last
many books have their bellies filled with it
that the last will be the first
that it’s how life goes, that it’s why we’re here
so we can go back where we came from
and start all over again

eyes open, eyes shut
whether you’re young or old
you pass on by
eyes open, eyes shut
whether you’re young or old
you just go back

nothing is destroyed
everything transforms
no need to run too fast
if when you arrive, you have to start again
life is this way
that’s why we’re here
no reason to believe we’re masters
no reason to believe we’re slaves

“The lying ass says he has doubled, maybe tripled our GDP. Would someone please, anyone explsin to this idiot what GDP is and how it is measured. He is such an ignorant fool who clearly knows nothing about economics”

GDP clearly means Government Debt Per-year

There’s this one house in the next town over that has these two gaudy lions at the front entrance. Friend of my brother’s who lives nearby tells us the owner is the owner of a couple successful Chinese restaurants in the District.

Disaster strikes home.

My wife and I are in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan tonight.

I left the cord for my computer in the hotel in Regina, but that is not the worst.

Fortunately, I was able to find a computer shop open late here, and better, they had a replacement cord.

When I opened my E-mail, there were several messages from the chairwoman of my village board.

There was a severe storm last night, and that storm ripped out the wiring for my house. While that is insured, I am a thousand miles away in another country.

My neighbour has the key to my house; I asked her and tagged him in the response to go to my house and empty the refrigerator to try to save it.

Crap. I can’t even call my insurance company from here. Maybe I should just stay in Canada.

No shit. There was one good break: The RCMP had an inspection set up between Regina and Saskatoon; they were pulling over nearly every car, but they just waved us past.

I will limber up a credit card and try to use Skype to call my homeowner’s insurance company tomorrow morning. Crap.

Can you have your neighbor/the chairwoman contact your insurance company and have them get in touch with you by email?

ETA or ask someone in Saskatoon to let you borrow their phone?

Thank you for that suggestion. I will E-mail her and ask.

In the morning I will try a Skype call to my insurance (Microsoft charges big $$$ for a call from a computer to a telephone, but it seems to be necessary.)

Hey, Cheechako, you may need to put us up in your house.

Hollywood realizes there is a huge population of moviegoers and production companies in China willing to finance Hollywood movies if there’s a Chinese angle to the story or a Chinese actor in them. The stupendous success of Black Panther has probably opened up the African markets, too.

It makes no business sense to ignore entire demographic groups. Whites are not the only people with money.

You’ve never met “hollywood:” have you? Forget “white”, if there’s no “buzz” in LA, arguably NY, they won’t touch it, even if it’s big elsewhere in the nation. Europe might as well be the North Pole and Africa Mars. There are exceptions of course, but’s generally it’s a parochial cottage industry.

I’m a movie buff. Hollywood may be parochial, but I stand by my remarks. Those Chinese actors and settings in recent movies are not accidental. Hollywood goes where there is money dangled in front of it. If casting Fan Bingbing in a movie gets Chinese financing, it will happen. Until Black Panther, Africa was only used in Hollywood movies as the backdrop to movies about Tarzan or giant apes or white people finding themselves by living in exotic lands. As for Europe, why worry if Hollywood ignores you? The UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, etc., all have thriving film industries.

They got their sound bites. That’s all that matters to them.

These are people who compare photos of Trump vs Obama inauguration crowds and insist there were more people in 2017.

So as long as they have some clips that can be viewed out of context to make it look like the FBI is out on a political witch hunt, they have reason to ignore the results of the Mueller investigation when it comes out, which is their plan.

Trump drops a few bombs after arriving in UK.
1. Says PM Theresa May screwed up Brexit.
2. Rips Mayor Sadiq Khan for not standing up to terrorists.
3. Says migrants destroyed UK culture.

Remember what Douglas Adams said about the job of a politician is not to exercise power but to distract people from those who do.

This can only be closely orchestrated fireworks to keep us from paying attention to other nasty things going down in Trumpland.

Exactly. Accepting Chinese financing also requires the filmmakers toe the line when it comes to Chinese Communist Party approval, because yes, the Party has its hand in any Chinese business venture, even if only supervisory. So, don’t expect Hollywood movies to delve into Tibet, Tian’anmen Square 1989, or Tiawan, or suggest that there may be corruption of any kind within the Chinese government.

Yes, mein President, you have perambulated the situation exactly. England used to be a good place, the greatest place, back when Richard VIII was in charge and King James wrote the Bible and all that. Then they let in a lot of other folk from their colonies, backward people, very backward. The country slid backward and they decided to give it the name it had before it was England, when it was really backward too. They had natives then, sort of like American Indians; threw spears, wore skins, worshiped rocks; that sort of thing. They were called “Britons” which I think means “hairy savage who won’t pay his bills” in Roman or something like that. With some suitable fancy English spelling that became Britain and it seemed to fit the new landscape.

Republicans held a 10-hour hearing today about a guy who criticized Trump far less harshly than Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio and did far less than those three to stop Trump from becoming president.

again, they have a task, which is to do anything to put a bad light on the FBI and its Mueller investigation so that they do not have to feel compelled to act on its findings when it is released

in that, they scored a tactical victory, they have sound bites and video clips that can be showed out of context to indicate that it is all a “partisan witch hunt”

Make sure they do not just move on and leave this abomination behind them.

Reminder: Farage claimed brexit would lead to a windfall immediately for UK health Dept. That was a huge lie and huge reason brexit won

the money that they “could have” put into the NHS was sort of like all that tax cut money that job creators “could have” invested in the economy

but we know that happened

111
lawhawk  Jul 13, 2018 • 6:17:52am

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. It’s another apology tour for Trumpworld as Trump engages in widespread arson across American foreign policy and throws NATO in along for the ride leaving his underlings to apologize and claim that Trump didn’t mean no disrespect (he did), and that he’s not going to exit NATO (he still might), and that he’s not really Putin’s bitch (he sure is).

How can I be sure of that?

Because everything Trump says inures benefit to no one but Russia when it comes to foreign policy and national security. It’s always kayfabe when Trump mentions Putin, and goes out of his way to show Putin deference, while he always attacks our allies, and our closest strategic partners, such as the UK (or England as Trump wants to know).

The malevolent toady toddler Trump continues attacking the UK, and PM May for her handling of Brexit. He wants it to go even quicker and smoother, even though Trump doesn’t even know what Brexit is. He and Farage are both supporting Brexit even though it was all built on a lie that it would benefit the UK (it wont).

The only ones who benefit from Brexit are Russia, who sees the UK and EU weakened as their economic union gets broken up. The entire point of Brexit was supposed to be economic benefits that bring the UK immediate money for their health service - that was the big lie.

The little lies were the ones that showed who was funneling the money to make Brexit pass (Russia and their cronies across the UK like Farage and media outlets that spread their noxious lies - Cambridge Analytica comes up yet again).

I was out all day and didn’t watch any of it live (not that I really would have, anyway). But the clips I’ve watched are absolutely brutal. Just like Rosenstein, Strzok took no shit from the Dim Bulb Caucus, and the Democrats came prepared - holding up the ‘guilty’ signs and the one of Junior saying ‘I love it’ really blew the Rs’ claims of ‘witch hunt’ out of the water.

You’d think Gowdy would catch a clue after having his ass handed to him on the regular.

Immigration is a major issue. It needs to be solved comprehensively and not just fixating on the border or rounding up people, etc.

But if the GOP cannot fix it with its majority, then it must be the Dem’s fault for being obstructionist, right?

Business and the government in pre-WWII Germany were intimately connected, according to The Wages of Destruction. There was no attempt to separate one from the other, and the Reich with its war economy offered many businessmen many opportunities to become rich, especially if they knew the right people. You can get a glimpse of that in Schindler’s List. Trump and his Cabinet are steering the USA toward just such a merger of business and government - the USA Inc., as it were.

Making a mess and walking away from it. When you expect to be Raptured, environmental responsibility is for those left behind.

Pence spokeswoman Alyssa Farah called the findings “a years old issue” that the vice president has addressed before. She did not elaborate.

In a statement, Pence’s older brother Greg Pence — who was president of Kiel Bros. when it went bankrupt and is now running for Congress as a Republican — distanced himself from the cleanup costs.

“Greg Pence has had nothing to do with Kiel Bros since 2004. This is another attempt by the liberal media to rehash old, baseless attacks,” campaign spokeswoman Molly Gillaspie said.
…….
Mike Pence, then a third-year congressman, lost more than $600,000 when the company went under. He later became Indiana governor and now has assets worth between $532,000 and $1.13 million. Greg Pence, who is seeking the vice president’s old congressional seat, has total assets worth $5.7 to $26 million.

Same with Japan. There were assassinations of business leaders in the early 30s by ultranationalists, but once they were reined in and senior military leaders imposed order and imposed a puppet state in Manchuria, business largely bought in an increased investments in the expanding empire.

Interesting tidbit: during the Balkan war in the 1990s, there was a huge influx of neo-Nazis fighting on the Croatian side. There was a well-known Swedish neo-Nazi (forgot the name) who was wanted for war crimes in 1998 while fighting on the Croat side earlier in the 1990s.

Ah, true. Only the people closest to the Fuhrer were aware of the reality, that Hitler was bankrupting the nation on the gamble that he could capture Russian resources to keep his wartime economy going. He was also essentially stealing food and grain from the non-Aryans to keep the Aryans as well fed as possible.

Trump must be feeling like an ancient besieged ruler, trapped in his palace as the enemy army draws nearer and nearer. He’s got nowhere to go, figuratively speaking. The next step is to link those 12 Russian operatives with anyone in the Trump campaign and administration.

And I also hope for a link to Julian Assange. He needs to be in more hot water than he has been so far.

Mueller’s working up the chain.

Among those who are likely to get caught in that: Roger Stone.

Yes, that Roger Stone.

Who’s Roger Stone? He’s a longtime pal of Paul Manafort (they were business partners on their lobbying firm) and Donald J. Trump.

When Stone worried a few weeks back about being caught up in all this, this is exactly why: he’s been caught.

Knowledge was power and power was carefully hoarded and often died out with its creators.

Thread time:

There’s lots more in Twitter, but don’t want to bore folks with the endless string of tweets that show how Trump will continue to go for his meeting with Putin. He’ll ignore the latest indictments and claim the witch hunt against him continues.

His media outfit at Fox will deflect and project and claim that this isn’t proof Trump was involved - even as the indictment itself indicates that at least one of the indicted Russians had continuing contact with someone in Trumpworld.

Yeah, the lines of the conspiracy are continuing to reveal themselves, and far from being a witch hunt, we’re seeing Mueller systematically identify all the players.

I still recall 2014 when DT was talking about how exciting his rallies were while people were falling asleep at Jeb! Bush rallies.

20 minutes later, CNN had an interview with a lady who had fallen asleep at a Jeb! rally.

It was like he was writing their scripts for them.

Absolutely!

There is a lot going on between the lines in this indictment, and it is all clearly a pistol pointed at the Trump campaign.

Here’s the thing about the Never Trumpers and a lot of people on the right: They may have a messed up view of what they think is right or wrong about the country, but they’re at least rooting for America. Trump and McConnell and a whole lot of the others don’t even care. It’s like the crossover comic where the Joker turns against the Red Skull because no matter how bad, they don’t side with Nazis.

An interesting statement by Adam L. Silverman over at Balloon Juice:

As someone who’s both done and taught how to do network based targeting, if I was working for Mueller, I’d be advising that he hold off on the American (and British - Cambridge Analytica/SCL, etc) indictments on this stuff as long as possible as I want to see what the rest of the network, especially the Americans and the British portions start to do now that this indictment has been announced. Even the way that DAG Rosenstein made the announcement is intended to get the rest of the network to respond. By stating that no Americans are indicted in today’s indictment, but that the investigation is ongoing, Rosenstein and Mueller are looking to see what the response will be. Specifically, today’s indictment and announcement are intended to get the too cute by half guys like Stone or Parscale or Don Jr or Giuliani and Prince, and the people they’re connected to - inside and outside of the US (remember the Israelis, the Emiratis, and the Saudis appear to be up to their eyeballs in all of this too), to do something in response that can be tracked through all the links and nodes of the network. This also includes Assange and Wikileaks. The counterintelligence officers who work for Special Counsel Mueller have the network mapped out. They are very good at what they do and will be watching to see what happens to and within and throughout the network now that they’ve grabbed a bunch of nodes and links and given them a good, sharp pull.
