And Now, Your Sunday Night All-Caps Totally Batshit Nuclear War Threat From the President of the United States

Yes, this is a real tweet by the president of the United States. I double-checked to make sure it wasn’t a parody account. It isn’t.

I think he’s coming to the realization that he won’t be getting away with selling the country out to Russia, and that no one really likes him all that much.

Alternatively, Trump is likely hearing about news before we do, and maybe he just got some news that will come out either tomorrow or Tuesday that isn’t very good news. Perhaps a Manafort plea? Maybe further indictments? Maybe Cohen flipped? Who knows. But if it’s the case that some really bad news is about to come out real soon, we’ll all know about it.

“The level of corruption and wealth among regime leaders shows that ______ is run by something that resembles the Mafia more than a government.”

So—a protester talking about the yam administration? Nope—Mike Pompeo talking about Iran. Hard to keep the Mafia organizations straight. Sigh.

Rouhani warned Trump on Sunday not to wage war with Iran.

Addressing a gathering of Iranian diplomats, Rouhani said: “Mr Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret,” the state new agency IRNA reported.

“America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars,” Rouhani said, leaving open the possibility of peace between the two countries, at odds since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

“You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests,” Rouhani said, in an apparent reference to reported efforts by Washington to destabilize Iran’s Islamic government.

So, rather than address those comments publicly, Trump took the passive-aggressive mode of tweeting out his response. Such convincing. Very courage.

I think the demonstrators yelling ‘Lock him up’ as he arrived at the White House tonight might have gotten under his skin a little bit, too.

And he had Pompeo run his mouth as well:

Pompeo’s hard-line speech comes just three weeks before the first round of banking sanctions suspended under the Iran nuclear deal is reimposed after President Trump withdrew from the landmark agreement in May. Bigger sanctions coming in November are aimed at cutting off virtually all Iran’s oil market.

Pompeo stopped short of calling for regime change, but he announced stepped-up U.S. government broadcasting in Farsi that is likely to foment further unrest against the government.

Right now, no. And when it blew up last night the fire was being blown across rugged terrain to the northeast, aided by winds from the southwest, away from any buildings. First thing this morning when the sun comes up we’re getting some slurry drops and a couple of helicopters to drop water on it. Truth be told, it looked a lot worse when it first started (by lightning) than it actually is.

At this point I think certainly Republican Congressional members and also most Trump supporters know they are dealing with a pure toddler in the White House. They are content in keeping an insane orangutan under control as long as they can keep their feet on the gays, blacks, Mexicans, etc etc…but watch out when the other side of Fascism starts to raise it’s head… you know… actual war. …they will turn on him.

The entire Conservative philosophy is based on personal gain and avoiding the costs as much as possible either by active denial or socializing the losses. When it comes to the downside of Conservative Fascism, war is as bad as it gets and it is the Trump supporters themselves that will disproportionaly pay the price with their own lives, or their children’s lives on a far away battlefield.

Trump will see all support drop if his obsession with Iran results with any actual American deaths and this Republican Congress will quickly remove him from office….bad for business. No way even a Republican Congress gives Trump an OK to attack Iran with no provocation.

So we’re about to see Trump foreign policy 101 in action again: Make a lot of grandiose threats, push the world to the brink of war, and then take credit when you “deescalate” the situation as a “peacemaker.”

And he agrees to a one on one meeting with the Ayatolla and he says the meeting went “great”.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. It’s a wonderful Friday night news dump ongoing. Wait. Shit. This is Monday morning before 9:30am?

Trump’s drumming the beat of war with Iran. He’s making insane threats based on nothing more than deflecting attention from fact that his buddy - his campaign manager - is about to go on trial this week for charges that would see him spend the rest of his life in prison (and that’s not counting the charges for witness tampering while he was out on bail that got his sorry ass thrown in jail awaiting trial).

Manafort’s got a motion to try and keep his chicanery in and with Ukraine out of the trail, and if that fails, the likelihood of flipping increases dramatically.

While Trump continues deflecting and projecting, he’s got a media that helped him immensely in ways large and small (going back to when he first jumped into the race):

So many in the media needed to knock Hillary and gave Trump an undeserved boost - to say nothing of not bothering to dig deep into Trump’s links to shady characters and foreign moneymen (which in retrospect looks like a Russian nesting doll matched set of cronies and complicit/compromised thugs and sycophants.

Oh, and he’s back to attacking Amazon/WaPo (meaning more breaking news on its way):

Dr Lizardo  Jul 23, 2018 • 6:36:45am

So, here’s the full statement from GOP lawmaker Jason Spencer regarding Sacha Baron Cohen.

The makers of this film fraudulently induced me in participating in bogus self-defense and anti-terrorism training after they learned of the legislation I introduced in November 2016 that provoked death threats against me and my family. They took advantage of my fears that I would be attacked by someone inspired by the vile rhetoric used against me. I was told the video was intended to be an educational aid to train elected officials who may be targeted by terrorists. Threats to public officials are real as we have seen with the assassination attempt upon Congressman Steve Scalise’s life, which occurred one month prior to my contact with the film’s makers.

They exploited my state of mind for profit and notoriety. This media company’s deceptive and fraudulent behavior is exactly why President Donald Trump was elected. Furthermore, there are sensitive parts of this training that took place under a kidnapping scenario where I was repeatedly asked to shout provocative language which I requested be removed, but I was not afforded that opportunity to have final approval over footage used that was initially extended to me by the film makers.

It is clear the makers of this film intended to deceive me in an attempt to undermine the American conservative political movement; therefore, I have sought legal counsel to challenge this illegal and unethical behavior and plan on taking action if and when any of this fraudulently obtained footage of me is used by these Hollywood liberals to line their own pockets.

Okay, so he starts off Cheney by asking him his favorite war, Cheney says Desert Storm. He also tells him about that he used a waterboard on his wife when she was unfaithful. Cheney finds it funny. He also asks about the infamous Cheney shooting incident and “confuses” the fact that Cheney shot the man thinking he was a Quail with thinking he was Dan Quayle. He then gets him to sign a waterboard to which Cheney quips that he never signed one before. The Israeli colonel character is the best character so far IMO. Most rounded out and has gotten by far the most cringe worthy reactions thus far.

Trump’s floor, unfortunately, is about the same as any other modern American president, probably somewhere around 35% barring complete economic meltdown (In Bush’s case he dropped below 30% near the end due to forces mostly out of his control, Trump could drop lower if the trade war tanks the economy). What makes Trump unique is that his ceiling is also, historically, low. Most presidents have at least a chance to get into the 60’s on approval (Bush flirted with 60% a couple of times before 9/11), if not higher (again, barring national tragedy). Trump, however, seems lucky to get to 50%. That’s historically bad, and probably a result of electing one of the most disliked major party nominees in history.

re: #195 jaunte

Well, THAT is depressing.

“As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter anymore,” said Bezmenov. “A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents, with pictures; even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and show him [a] concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it, until he [receives] a kick in his fan-bottom. When a military boot crashes his balls then he will understand. But not before that. That’s the [tragedy] of the situation of demoralization.”

Once demoralization is completed, the second stage of ideological brainwashing is “destabilization”. During this two-to-five-year period, asserted Bezmenov, what matters is the targeting of essential structural elements of a nation: economy, foreign relations, and defense systems. Basically, the subverter (Russia) would look to destabilize every one of those areas in the United States, considerably weakening it.

“Most of the American politicians, media, and educational system trains another generation of people who think they are living at the peacetime,” said the former KGB agent. “False. United States is in a state of war: undeclared, total war against the basic principles and foundations of this system.”

re: #195 jaunte

I’ve found this to be a very handy link.

The Gerasmov Doctrine

The article is considered by many to be the most useful articulation of Russia’s modern strategy, a vision of total warfare that places politics and war within the same spectrum of activities—philosophically, but also logistically. The approach is guerrilla, and waged on all fronts with a range of actors and tools—for example, hackers, media, businessmen, leaks and, yes, fake news, as well as conventional and asymmetric military means. Thanks to the internet and social media, the kinds of operations Soviet psy-ops teams once could only fantasize about—upending the domestic affairs of nations with information alone—are now plausible. The Gerasimov Doctrine builds a framework for these new tools, and declares that non-military tactics are not auxiliary to the use of force but the preferred way to win. That they are, in fact, the actual war. Chaos is the strategy the Kremlin pursues: Gerasimov specifies that the objective is to achieve an environment of permanent unrest and conflict within an enemy state.

So the Cheetoh Mussolini, Vlad’s Punch, lost it in the last 24 hours.

Just. Lost. It.

That was crazy. Bullgoose, run-over-turkey, crazy.

Well, this Signature Bank story will make his RPM level increase to Shrieking Harpy status. We’ve wondered where Drumpf Inc. got its capital since no-one would float his paper, yet someone obviously did. This appears to be the source.

So, relevant side note:

Once upon a time there was a bank in DC called Riggs Bank. Its main office was on Pennsylvania Avenue, but I saw it most often because it had a branch just across the Potomac from Arlington in Georgetown where I would go to see live music when I was a mere teen and college student.

It was THE Bank in DC. Presidents from Martin Van Buren to Nixon had accounts there. It really ramped up in the world of black money starting with State Department intelligence in World War I and accelerated in WWII when the OSS used it to move money around to pay for its activities. The CIA used it. It paid for the Bay of Pigs fiasco. Osama used it to pay the bills for the 9/11 hijackers.

Eventually, after a series of money laundering schemes were uncovered, it was bought by PNC in 2005 and was absorbed. But during the 20th century, the money flow for pretty much every plot, black op, and dirty trick out of DC could be traced to it.

If it turns out that Signature Bank is New York’s equivalent to DC’s Riggs National, this story will break a lot of spines. It’s a really, really big deal.

Rand Paul needs to be kicked in the ass. He, just like Lindsey Graham, has turned into a Trump defender par excellence. Plus, he just is so punchable. And another tie-in to the real GOP Central Committee at Fox News.

Politico - Rand Paul to ask Trump to revoke security clearance of ex-CIA chief Brennan

Sen. Rand Paul Monday said he is meeting with President Donald Trump to ask for former CIA director John Brennan to have his security clearance revoked.

“Is John Brennan monetizing his security clearance? Is John Brennan making millions of dollars divulging secrets to the mainstream media with his attacks on @realDonaldTrump,” the Kentucky Republican tweeted Monday morning. “Today I will meet with the President and I will ask him to revoke John Brennan’s security clearance.”

Brennan, who was CIA director under former President Barack Obama, now works as a senior national security and intelligence analyst for NBC News and MSNBC. Brennan has been highly critical of Trump.

Most recently, he lambasted Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week, calling it “nothing short of treasonous” in a tweet.

Paul’s request comes after Fox News host Tucker Carlson said last week that Brennan still had a security clearance despite not working for the federal government anymore.

Carlson, who called Brennan an “out-of-the-closet extremist,” went on to call for his security clearance removed.

“honestly” = “the extent to which I can get away with lying about it”

Earlier this year I posted a pic of my feral kitty that I named Chica, because she looked like Stanley Sea’s kitteh. Well, a few months later, and there are five. Chica’s husband Boom and her three kittens, shown here on the front porch enjoying supper de jour. This is as close as I can get to them, unfortunately. Trying to get friendly, because Chica needs a bit of surgery so we can stop this burgeoning family where it stands!

I’ve never liked the smarmy Senator. I’ve found new space for more hate for him.

What has he done for Kentucky? I doubt he has done anything.

My question, too. What sort of popularity does this clown have in Kentucky that he seems like such a lock for the Senate seat? Do they really admire him for all his “libertarian” bullshit? Or is it just that he’s branded with the magic mark of (R)?

Will the last journalists at the Daily News turn off the lights?

Tronc, which bought the paper last year, pretty much eviscerated the paper by canning half the staff today.

“To capture the opportunities ahead and address the significant financial challenges we have faced for years, we are fundamentally restructuring the Daily News,” reads a memo sent to the paper’s staff from Tronc (formerly known as the Tribune Publishing), which also owns the Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, the Orlando Sentinel, and other regional newspapers.

The letter, tweeted by Daily Beast reporter Max Tani, says that editor-in-chief Jim Rich, and managing editor Kristen Lee “will be departing,” and that the cuts are aimed at “re-focusing much of our talent on breaking news—especially in areas of crime, civil justice and public responsibility.”

Robert York, the publisher and editor of The Morning Call in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has been named editor-in-chief.

Reached by telephone, York told Gothamist he wasn’t ready to talk about how he intends to lead the paper with 50 percent fewer editorial staff.

I am not a big fan of zombie anything, but to me, the book is not so much about zombies as it is about how humanity repeatedly fails to deal with catastrophes; first by ignoring them, then by trying to cover them up, all of which only hastens their spread and harmfulness until we are forced by dire circumstances to take extreme measures to effectively combat what we could easily have prevented had we acted reasonably and in due time…

Exactly; it’s basically a retrospective by those who fought and participated in the war against the zombies.

Much like how Stephen King’s first novel Carrie is an epistolary, told in flashbacks, diary excerpts, a Congressional hearing transcript and news reports from the aftermath of Carrie White’s destruction of Chamberlain, Maine.

When zombies attack!: Mathematical modelling
of an outbreak of zombie infection

Abstract
Zombies are a popular figure in pop culture/entertainment and they are usually
portrayed as being brought about through an outbreak or epidemic. Consequently, we model a zombie attack, using biological assumptions based on popular zombie movies. We introduce a basic model for zombie infection, determine
equilibria and their stability, and illustrate the outcome with numerical solutions. We then refine the model to introduce a latent period of zombification,
whereby humans are infected, but not infectious, before becoming undead. We
then modify the model to include the effects of possible quarantine or a cure.
Finally, we examine the impact of regular, impulsive reductions in the number
of zombies and derive conditions under which eradication can occur. We show
that only quick, aggressive attacks can stave off the doomsday scenario
: the
collapse of society as zombies overtake us all.

then modify the model to include the effects of possible quarantine or a cure.
Finally, we examine the impact of regular, impulsive reductions in the number
of zombies and derive conditions under which eradication can occur. We show
that only quick, aggressive attacks can stave off the doomsday scenario
: the
collapse of society as zombies overtake us all.

Which is why the modern Republican party will be so hard to kill off.

Remind me again of the issue here: There’s a homeless camp that some 3%’er, Oath-Keeper, wingnut with a gun thinks is housing child abusers?

[Where are the children? No, seriously, this isn’t a slogan. Where are they? They ripped these kids from their parents and only 50 out of 3000 have been reunited. This is not over just because the President is making all caps threats to Iran.]

A bunch of un-reunited kids are being labeled ‘Ineligible’, for things like their parent[s] having been deported without them.

Donny Trump will do that for your deplorable political party.

The GOP seems to be fine and all in on their death wish for the party.

This glomming onto The Don without any resistance in the party is really unprecedented as far as I know. Anyone that is resistant is giving up and quitting politics. Something is just not right.

My ex-boyfriend’s mom borrowed humane traps from the local spay and release group to get a group of feral kitties spayed/neutered in her neighborhood. It worked out great and she fed those kitties until they died over time. You might have similar in your area.

I eagerly await the Silicon Valley startup that launches a Bluetooth-enabled, self-starting guillotine that we can use Amazon’s One Click (tm) interface to send to an oligarch’s location, and then livestream the execution.

You laugh, but somewhere the guys at Sand Hill Road are rubbing their chins thoughtfully & asking to see the Series A cap table.

Ari Fleischer says the US should destabilize Iran to initiate regime change: “”The more unstable we can help Iran to become, the better it is to actually secure peace”

Jesus Christ on a large everything pizza. These people are crazy.

And the yam already has Pompeo putting it all in motion:

Pompeo stopped short of calling for regime change, but he announced stepped-up U.S. government broadcasting in Farsi that is likely to foment further unrest against the government.

He said the U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors is taking steps to circumvent Internet censorship in Iran and creating a round-the-clock Farsi channel across television, radio, digital and social media formats, “so that ordinary Iranians inside Iran and around the globe will know that America stands with them.”

When a member of the audience asked him whether the Iranian people might gain control of their country in the foreseeable future, Pompeo replied swiftly, “Of course.”

From what I’ve read, the “veterans on patrol” nuts 🥜 glommed onto the (abandoned) homeless camp as “evidence”of the supposed sex-trafficking ring, and have tried to milk the publicity for weeks to promote themselves - as something other than a gang of time-wasting looney-tunes. And apparently, they’re pissed at Tucson PD for not playing along with their roadshow production of Militia Theater. So occupying this cement plant seems to be their main chance to keep in the spotlight.
